ADB, SPL Questions - myTouch 3G, Magic General

I just wanted to know if my phone has to have a modded SPL to get ADB to work when in Fastboot?
I'm trying to root my Magic but i can not send cmd when in fastboot.
My magic does come up under "adb devices" when phone is on but when i put it into Fastboot i can not find it under "adb Devices"
When in Fastboot the diver installed says:
ADB Interface
- HTC Bootloader
And if i do need to update my SPL can someone link me to suitable SPL as i have 32B so don't want brick my phone. Im pretty sure i don't have to update radio as already on newest.
I currently have:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32B Ship S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0004 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-11
RADIO-2.22.19.26I

Thanks for any help anyone can give.

Fastboot problem

Hi
I'm not able to fastboot a recovery ROM. I have tryed Amon Ra's and Cyanogen's recoverys. Both of them give me the same error. I type in the command, then get the error - cannot load. I put my Magic into fastboot, then connected the USB cable, checked, it show's that my Magic is connected (fastoot devices). I have put the recovery to AndroidSK/tools directory. IMO I'm doing everything right. Would someone have a clue, wht's wrong?
My handset is from Vodafone UK.

what command are you using to load it?
Strange, i had added the SDK's directory to the variables, but now when i cd'd the right direectory, it worked. Doesn't matter, at least it now works.

[Q] Need Root Help - Newbie

Hi,
I'm newbie and root my phone with roottools. After root I tried to intall a new room recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0G.img with
fastboot recovery recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0G.img
now I cannot boot the phone or enter on recovery mode. The only thing I can do is to enter on fastboot and try to recovery from a image. I don't have a goldencard.
Sorry if I did not give enough information, like I said I'm a newbie and sorry about my bad english.
There is something I can do? Did I brick my phone?

First of all, wrong section. Moving to General.
Secondly, have you tried using a 1.7.0H recovery?
Third, you cannot fastboot anything because you need an engineering SPL. You see that S-ON? It needs to say S-OFF to flash anything by fastboot. I suggest reading instructions carefully before proceeding.

you need the 1.76.2007 eng spl.
Since you have no system nor recovery you only option is a goldcard.
Just make sure that you use the right one!
Looking at the fastboot info you provided, you should use the H version of the custom recovery!

Just to make sure.
I already have the goldcard. Now I have to put the hboot-1.76.2007.img into it and update SPL.
After that I will be able to use fastboot command line and install Recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2.img to it.
From there I will be able to install a rom.
Those are the steps:
- Copy hboot-1.76.2007.img to goldcard renaming it to sappimg.nbh;
- HBOOT with the goldcard in it;
This will change my SPL to 1.76.2007 ENG S-OFF
- Shutdown;
- Copy Recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2.img to a spare card;
- Enter on fastboot mode;
- fastboot recovery Recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2.img;
- Reboot;
- Enter in recovery mode (home+power)
- Install a new room.
Is that right?
After that I will get:
Sapphire pvt 32A ENG S-OFF H
HBOOT-1.76.2007 (SAPP60000)

Is that right? If it is, wich roms can I install from here?
Thanks!

[Q] Newbie way in over his head

When I started, this was my phone:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0013 (SAPP31000)
CPLD-13
RADIO-2.22.23.02

I figured I had 32A, but I later found out that if it has the 3.5mm jack then it's in fact at 32B. I went through the procedures for a perfected spl trying to get my hboot and radio so I could run ginger yoshi 1.2.
Everything went wrong of course.
I can still fastboot, but anytime I try to flash from fastboot I get FAILED (remote: signature verify fail). I'm unable to boot into recovery. I tried a new sappimg.zip but the phone gets stuck on unzipping and I have to pull the battery. I tried remaking the goldcard several times.
Now fastboot shows my phone as:
SAPPHIRE UNKNOWN 32A ENG S-ON H
HBOOT-1.33.2010 (SAPP31000)
CPLD-13
RADIO-3.22.20.17
June 2 2009,17:27:03
How screwed am I?
Progress update:
I was able to turn S-OFF by running this in fastboot:
fastboot oem eraseconfig
From there I was able to flash hboot 1.33.0013 and radio 2.22.28.25 (for ginger yoshi).
I can now get into recovery and I'm in the process of install ginger yoshi.

When I run that command still bricked pretty much here

[Q] Unable to upgrade to new radio / SPL

Hi all,
I'm in the process of trying to upgrade past CM 6.0 on my Magic (mytouch 1.2). I'm currently hitting a brick wall and was wondering if someone could give me a nudge in the right direction.
In fastboot - the device gives:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT -1.33.0013 (SAPP31000)
..
RADIO-2.22.23.02
So that's what the phone is currently running. I can run Amon-Ra's 1.70 sapphire recovery on the phone as well as CM6.0
I was trying (hoping to be able to anyway) to upgrade the radio / SPL to take advantage of some of the GB stuff people are porting over. I first flashed an update to an Engineering SPL to 1.33.2005 in recovery, and then I fastboot flashed a new radio, 6.35.16.19 and SPL 1.76.2007. I attempted to flash Clockwork's recovery at this point, and have hit a brick wall. I can go back to the original version of the software with no problems, and my phone boots to fastboot even with the new stuff installed, but I am unable to boot to recovery, either by holding menu down, or trying to boot the image from fastboot.
I did make sure to format my SD Card, I've fastboot erase system -w'd, and also erased each individual partition, with no luck.
Any suggestions?

My apologies:
initial fastboot configuration:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0013 (SAPP31000)
CPLD-13
RADIO-2.22.23.02

After flashing the Engineering SPL Update to move to 1.33.2005, the fastboot screen appears:
SAPPHIRE UNKNOWN 32B ENG S-OFF H
HBOOT-1.33.2005 (SAPP31000)
CPLD-13
RADIO-2.22.23.02
Apr 20, 2009, 15:30:43
Then I flashed the new Radio (6.35.19) image, and the new SPL image (1.76.2007), as well as the Clockwork Mod recovery (I have tried this with AmonRa as well):
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A ENG S-OFF H

It's at this point, after doing 'fastboot erase system -w' and 'fastboot reboot-bootloader' and then rebooting, that I am unable to enter recovery mode. The phone just hangs at the htc magic splash screen. I should note that I am able to enter fastboot and hboot with no difficulty. Attempting to do 'fastboot boot "recovery.img"' has also proved unsuccessful.
I suspect that my problems lie in my original version of the SPL being S-ON. I get the feeling I'm going to need to go dig out my gold card, since the update I'm using to get to 1.33.2005 seems to indicate '32b'. I might also be reading too much into it.
What ever you do... STOP NOW.
You are working in the blind dude... you are 1 step away from bricking your device.
You cannot have 32A radio. Your device is a hybrid, a 32B with 32A ram... Just look at it as you have 32B with a little extra ram...
Follow this guide and continue from step 4 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734617
Thanks for the save. I'll definitely admit that some of this is higher level than I'm used to. Appreciate you saving me from myself ;-)
