Are you sure it is the phone? My old Jabra bt headset just started to start skipping. My G1 with Plantronics bt headset doesn't miss a beat. Using JF1.51 standard ROM.

Seemed to fix it all for me when I was running a stock ROM.

Hi All,
I have a o2 xDA Mini S aka Wizard/QTec 9100, etc...
I've been lurking about this forum for some months now, and the other day I decided after reading good news of the Motorola HT820 headset that this would work correctly if I used the A2DP .cab file supplied in these forums.
Well, I did that and it works as intended but I seem to get a background crackling noise which gets worse the louder the music is.
I can seem to reduce it, but it never quite goes away... I've noticed a few odd messages on this forum with other users with this problem but cant determine if its something when the HT820 is paired with a 'Wizard' or not.
I've tried about 5 different PocketPC audio music players and cant seem to determine if its the phone, the bluetooth in some way or the headset itself... However, when I plug the headset into an audio jack it sounds PERFECT.
I suspect it may be the bluetooth bandwidth in some way as the headphones work fine when used as normal headphones...
After 3 days of messing with it, I've come here to hopefully get some help, determine where the problem is and hopefully help with a fix.
My ROM is the original 2.21.4.1 WWE that originally came with the phone about 4 months ago. Is anyone else getting this problem, knows a fix or has any info as to what it ould be? If we all work together, maybe we can figure this out...
Thanks all.

Hi Again,
I've been experimenting some more the last day and I cant quite seem to figure any more leads on what the problem could be related to.
Does anyone else experience this issue?
Thanks all.
Plonka2000.
I have experienced the same thing, especially with songs that are bass intensive. I have not found a solution.
I have experienced the same thing, especially with songs that are bass intensive. I have not found a solution.
Same here unfortunately
I've been experimenting a lot too, but presently still have a £40 set of headphones that sound worse than the ropey ones originally bundled with the Mini-S
Its at least good to know that other people are having the same issue.
Are you both using the Motorola HT820 as well?
Have you tried pairing it with another device to test the quality of the sound from another source.
I tried with my PC but my USB bluetooth adaptor is only BT1.0 compatible. Pairs but doesnt do anything...
What ROM versions are you guys using?
I'm still on my original 2.21.4.1 WWE that came originally with it.
Yeah - same headphones, same ROM (which I think is the latest one in any case).
I also have an XDAIIi which I wiped clean and use purely as an in-car GPS ATM. As soon as I get a chance (unfortunately rugby and beer eats up most of my spare time :? ) I'll see what I can find re an A2DP hack for the IIi and try the headphones on that.
Will post here with results (probably Monday)
my bluetooth will pair with phones and headsets but will not connect for file transfer
Might just be me (but I doubt it)...I haven't seen an Android build yet that had OBEX. Check the changelog and feature list for your particular upgrade and see if that was offered.
I have had issues with the bluetooth as well. I bought a Motorola s705 for streaming music/speakerphone in my car. For some reason, the sound quality is CRAP and it 'hiccups' every 30 seconds or so. I tried the same device with my wife's t-mobile shadow (htc juno) running WinMo... Worked beautifully.
I'm using the .26I radio, but seriously considering going back to the old radio to see if it improves performance.
I also just tried to pair and do file transfer with my friends Blackberry and failed as well. I think beartard is right... No OBEX.
I am having issues as well. My Pioneer car stereo supports A2DP, and all is well when the thing is paired, but next time I go to use it, I get connection "Error" when connecting either HFP or A2DP. Disabling stereo bluetooth on the stereo seemed to fix HFP, but I want my Stereo bluetooth.....
Have others had much luck with A2DP?
hey thanks for the replies guys but i was looking for some answers haha
AFAIK, only A2DP and AVRCP was added in Android 1.5, so no big wonder file transfer wont work...
A2DP works like a charm with my A2DP headset - haven't tried with other devices.

Stereo Bluetooth skipping issues
If streaming music via bluetooth is skipping, turn off your wifi and that will fix your problem. I was having major anxiety over this, but found the answer last night searching forums. I tried it out and my music has not skipped since. I stream music to my car stereo and it is excellent now that I've turned my wifi off.
is it just me??
there aren't that many reports of this issue on the net. it was briefly mentioned on one of the reviews and that was it.
anyway, on higher bitrate mp3 playback, bluetooth headset audio stutters and skips a lot, even if the device is held very very close.
wifi was not running, 3g data was not on.
if you guys think the issue I posted on google Android's bug site is relevant, then please vote.

Desire as well?? wow..
i think perhaps ill try disabling the HTC Sense or something
just dont understand why no one's been complaining
whats the x10 like by the way...it looks really nice but someone somewhere said SE's skin is slow?
how much battery life do you get out of it?
I do have trouble using just a plain headset. I only get about 30cm range before the audio begin to stutter.
I've tried with two different Sony Ericsson headsets (HBH-PV710, HBH-610a) and a TomTom Go930.
Is it a software issue or hardware related? Repair?

am guessing it's hardware...
but perhaps it can still be helped by modifications in software
basically im still getting the same issues with a custom ROM
Got the phone replaced with a brand new, still the same problem.
Audio in headset is really bad, but in the other end they can hear me loud and clear.
Could it be poor output power from the Bluetooth transmitter in the phone,
while reception is good?
I've restored it to factory settings, and had WiFi disabled.
I've got the same problems on my Legend.
Both A2D2-profile and standard audio for talking.
No more than 80-90 cm before the static and noice occurs.
My colleague here at the mobile-store had the same problems on Hero, and now on his currently X10..
So to me this seems as an Android problem overall, but I can't tell for sure..
My Legend is my first Android handset, and I like it..
I only wish these blutoothproblems hadn't been here.. Should have been just the same as on my beloved Sony Ericsson handsets..
Got a new headset a Nokia BH-602 and the audio is a lot better, not perfect but at least I can hear every word said.
It's quite strange that SE HBH-PV710 and HBH-610a including TomTom Go930 just didn't work.
I'm just curious what qualification Android or Bluez did meet to certify for the Bluetooth standard.
Sorry to bump an old thread...
But just wanted to add I have the exact same issue, the bluetooth range is not very far at all, however it is a lot better then 30-60cm.. i'm able to go for about 2-4 meters with line of sight.
So i guess its usable as long as the phone is in my pocket which is fine.. just wish it was a little better like my previous phones where I can just leave it charging and walk around the house.
Bluetooth support is pretty atrocious on this HTC Legend.
Never had any problems streaming audio or using any of my previous devices with my car stereo for handsfree.
But this Legend is pants! - It won't work with Bluetooth Audio streaming at all - I just get static and some wierd clicking noises (using 2.03 latest official ROM) and handsfree connects ok - but then drops half way through a call causing me to lose my call at the time.
Any resolves for these bluetooth woes?
thanks in advance.
PS - Using it with my Pioneer FH-P80BT
I use my Legend with a pair of Sennheiser MM400 headphones. I have no stutter with bluetooth stereo (except minor cuts when browsing some intensive websites or typing fast in landscape mode). My headset works well even with the phone in my pocket (although it skips momentarily if I turn my head right or if my hand touches the bluetooth transmitter near the camera lens).
Perhaps some of the reported problems are caused by some background process using CPU cycles with high priority?
Incidentally, I highly recommend these headphones - bluetooth playback is of identical quality to wired playback. I don't know how Sennhesier have acomplished this feat but every other brand of bluetooth headphones I have used before have had intolerable reproduction of high frequency sounds.
I am having this problem as well...streaming music from my T-Mobile Vibrant to my radio via bluetooth. The radio is bluetooth 2.1 compatible and the Vibrant is supposedly Bluetooth 3.0.
I used to have a Mytouch 3G running Android 1.6 and I do not remember having this problem.
Same problem here !
am using Legend, and "Jwin Stereo bluetooth" headphones that needs "A2DP" to work, and its working clear but there is some silly cuts while listening mp3's and its disturbing me, i cant ignore these cuts coz are alot !
Please tell us if there is any way to solve it ...
Thanks..
Hi all,
Apologies in advance if this is in the wrong forum, but it does pertain to the array of 2.1 ROMs out there.
I am in search of a 2.1 based ROM that has fully functioning A2DP stereo bluetooth capabilities.
Ive used Fresh 2.0d for a long time (still do), tried DamageControl 2.08 etc.
Only one that I had some success with was DarchLegend v5.0.5, but it seemed to have problems getting my contact pictures from Facebook etc. (Admittedly I may have to try it again).
My question is whether anyone can recommend a ROM where A2DP is known to work perfectly?
Also, a more general question: are ROMs like Fresh and Damage Desire-based as opposed to Darch being Legend-based? If this is the case, what are the benefits of a Desire-based ROM over a Legend-based ROM?
(I fully admit that I don't know enough about this stuff...I've tried to search but am still in need of answers - please help a curious guy out!)
Thanks for all the help
I've used an a2dp stereo bluetooth (Blueant X5i to be specific) with the ZenEXP (mytouch based) rom, with Fresh Toast 1.1 and with Fresh 2.0d. ZenEXP seemed the best to me, but they're all glitchy. Slacker works fine with the headset. Pandora will stop playing music over it after the screen turns off. I don't use the built in media player so I can't say how well that works. NPR stream & tweet and iheartradio both worked with it just fine too. If it gets a hiccup though, it'll stop the audio and the bluetooth will get stuck saying it's disconnected and it won't reconnect properly until you restart the phone. Pandora did this any time the screen turned off.
Just yesterday I upgraded the firmware for my blueant Q1 and streamed some audio from slacker just fine. Also checked htc music app and worked too. Ill do more extensive testing tonight. Im on Damage control v2.08 which is a sprint hero based rom.
I notice that both of you above are using Blueant...
Here's my problem...I have both a Jawbone ICON and Bluetooth Stereo speakers in my 2010 Mazda.
The Jawbone seems to work fine when I upgraded it to support A2DP, but I just don't really like it because its quiet and outputs just through one speaker (obviously). My Mazda is the one Im really trying to get working...it worked flawlessly on a 1.5 based ROM (proving that the speakers/bluetooth in the car itself works)...its just on these 2.1 based ROMs.
Any ideas?

I have a 2010 Mazda 3i with bluetooth that worked fine with android 1.5 but the audio is messed up with android 2.1, it plays at 2 times the normal speed and will randomly slow down and sputter at times. I am thinking about rooting my phone in a couple days and playing around with the bluetooth files if possible since you aren't having any luck with any of the 2.1 ROM's out there
bluetooth
My phone worked perfectly on bluetooth in my tacoma with car m_media. Since 2.1 it works sometimes. The sprint store told me it was not the phone which I know it is and I should get a newer bt device. It was new last year. I have now found if I go into airport mode for a few seconds and then go back the bt will work until I get away from the truck again. I have to do the airport thing everytime I come back, but it will work.
Jawbone A2DP update
Anyone with jawbone can now use earphone as headphone for 'any' media from Hero, http://mytalk.jawbone.com/jb2/mytalk/beta, hope this helps!
jjjjayd13,
After switching from WM to Android, people often complain they can barely hear me while talking through my H710 bluetooth headset, that works perfectly well in WM and/or with PC. How do i reconfigure it to actually work properly ?
PS: let me clarify again, i am talking about the OUTGOING audio, the one received by the other party. The audio volume on my side is fine.

No replies at all... how expectable
Just wanted to add, i've tested the very same ROM on the very same kernel with a different earphone (Nokia BH-105, borrowed it from a coworker), and it is working perfectly well, meaning it's also headset dependent, too
I'm facing the same problem..

I am thinking about just buying a different headset, can you tell the headset you are trying so i wouldn't even try that one ?
The headsets are not the problem.. the problem is in Sense ROMs.. i suggest you trying CyanogenMod roms.. some said that that bluetooth issue is sorted out!
I have a similar problem. I tried using two different headsets: mono - Bluetrek Sense and stereo - Plantronics 590. Both worked fine with the original firmware windows mobile. But after installing the Android firmware RAFDROID HD 4.0.2, my voice with a microphone headset is too quiet.
