Touch screen problem again
I have the same issue too, after hard-resetting the pda (HTC P4350) it is stuck on green screen with message " tap the screen to set up your windows mobile based device". The problem is touch screen of it is not working for quite a long time and because of this i have been using another p4350, but i think i am so careless and after dropping the second one into the water (it stayed only 3-4 seconds) its usb syncronization stopped to work, it can be charged but no data connection through usb cable (i have checked 3-4 different usb cables). Now i have a lot of information saved in the second one and i need to sync it with pc without using usb cable. I have planned to substitute pim.vol file of the first one with the second, then i will connect the first one to usb and finally sync. But this green screen really make me dissappointed.
Can anyone help me on this matter.
Thank you for all (at least for reading my problem)

Ok, Ive got a new problem with my XDA Exec.
Opened it up and tryied to turn on the backlight and nothing. tried a soft reset, nothingtried a hard reset now it just sticks on the splash screen, the red writing comes up on the right and side and just hangs there forever!
Please help
You're stuck. apparently the only remedy is turning it in to repair. For most of us it is under warranty.
Just off the phone to 02. Theres sending me a new one via courier on monday. it's less than a day old.
Is this a comon fault with the Exec?
erm ... I managed to experience this problem.
I was trying to uninstall SPB GPRS thingy that comes with the O2 package, and it just wouldn't go. I ended up deleting the program files and getting an error when it started up, so I deleted the GPRSNotify file under Startup. It never worked again ...
I got the splash screen, tried soft and hard resetting and various permutations (including standing on one leg and while holding breath) ... nothing. Did try to install fresh ROM, but startup wouldn't get far enough to let PC load ROM over USB.
Ended up contacting O2 who sent me a nice shiny new one, as it was only three weeks old. This time I haven't installed GPRS monitor thingy, and I don't intend to fiddle with it again ... or at least until I've forgotten my lesson ...
Sorry i ment to give you guys an update on this. I did manage to get it working again, although i still accepted the new one the sent to me.
What i did was installed a new rom off the 02 website. at 1st the computer couldnt see the phone so wot i did was enter what i think was the programming side of the phone. i found the instructions on how to this on the net. i think i pressed the 2 soft keys and the light switch while pressing the reset switch with the stylus (i think that was the buttons but unsure as i cant find the page again) when the screen light up again there was some faint writing on the screen with the word serial or usb. Double clicked on the rom file and 30mins later my phone was revived.
Funny it was the gprs monitor that i too installed before the phone screwed up? ive since installed it again on the new phone and have had no problems with it since.

Hey guys,
ActiveSync wasn't finding my phone last night, so I soft reset it. When it started up, it's stuck on white screen (where the blue, windows mobile screen should be). ActiveSync cannot see the phone at all.
I've read the post: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Unbrick
I've put it into bootloader menu (SPL 1.09) and connecting the USB cable changes "serial" to "USB"
Windows XP finds "HTC USB Sync" device and ActiveSync's wheels start turning.
A few seconds later, ActiveSync stops wokring, saying the device can't connect.
All I want is to recover my SMSs, the rest I don't care.
Is there a way to connect to the phone's files in 'HTC USB Sync' (bootloader) mode??
*crosses fingers*please say yes, please say yes*
All the best,
Dax.
i have the same problem!

any help getting it mended would be well appreciated.
Hi Toppy,
Try pulling battery out, other than that, only thing to do is a hard reset.
Sorry
Details for a hard-reset should be easy to find on this board.
Great reason to backup frequently.
(I use PIMBackup 2.5 everynight at 4am and sbp backup twice a week at 4:30am)
a blank screen
heyy guys i have the same problem with my screen, i bought a new one in ebay, after installed the new screen, i turned on the phone, the screen works fine, but when i turned off the phone and change the sim card, then when i turned on the phone again the screen was in blank!!!

Creation magic,
Did you follow my suggestions?
My phone gives me white screen every now and then when I reset it. I simply reset again and it's fine.
Seems to occur more frequently the longer I leave the phone without total formatting. (It's Windows - it needs ocassional formatting)

Hi,
I have got my trinity phone one year ago and never had a problem since last week. When starting my phone, it stops on the first screen (with "orange" logo) and nothing more happens.
I tried to reset it without succeed. The phone is not detected by the "activeSync" to make it flushable.
Help please !

my problem is mor or less the same... only that dont apears any image on screen and the green led is constantly on...
I have loaded a long time ago an old version of ROM Gelly.
This ROM worked perfectly to a friend who suggested to do the same with my trinity.
The PROBLEM is that when i try to open the pda it freezes to the first srceen showing the rom version and after....nothing!
I tried to load again Gelly from the bootloader, it begins to run, it runs about 1% then the trinity makes a flash (this means it loses the connection with the pc) and then shows me again the first screen....
Please i need help!
me to. i try install the rom original and my pda is living again.
try this to
hi,
2 things ...
have you tried a hard reset ? (hold both softkeys & hit reset button)
and when flashing:
when you first run the rom upgrade from PC with phone on Activesync, it is quite common for phone to hang at the bootloader screen ...
worry not -
just re-run the upgrade from PC again immediately, without disconnecting or attempting to switch phone off.
(the word USB should be visable on device under the coloured bars)
if you do get hung up at bootloader screen a hard reset should at least get you back to where you were, and you can try re-flash again.
hope this helps,
regards,
Kevin
My trinity won't work anymore...
Hi all!
My trinity wont't work anymore. When i press the ON/OFF-button, the display is lighten up a bit, then the buttons are lighten up. And nothing more.
When i will go to bootloader mode, it is the same.
And when i will to a hard reset, the trinity ask me to press SEND or END key for restore factory default or cancel. When i choose the SEND key, on my display some ridicoulous letters appear, but nothing more.
When i try KITL mode, everything is the same.
Can someone help please?
Because i can't do something on my trinity
EDIT (maybe this can help my helper ):
After some time, the display and the buttons are not lighten up anymore.
When i try to charging the battery, it only works, when the buttons are not lighten up (when i switch on, charging is ok; when the display is lighten up a bit, charging is ok; when the buttons are lighten up, charging won't work; when the display and the buttons are not lighten up anymore after a time, charging is ok)

I have a Sprint Touch [Vogue]. It has served me very well up until recently.
One day, I was using my phone normally when the battery died. No big deal right?
Well, I charge my phone and reboot it. For some reason, Windows is EXTREMELY slow and unresponsive. I figure that something vital had been corrupted by the battery's death, and that it was nothing that a hard reset couldn't fix.
I performed a hard reset.
I let the utilities for the first boot run to customize the phone. Everything seemed pretty much normal. I configured my settings, re-added my contacts, etc. Then I turned the screen off [with the power button].
I turn it back on later to do something. I touch the screen. It immediately and accurately detects the touch's location, but it continues detecting a touch. For 20-30 seconds, after the input has stopped.
It was strange, so I soft reset the device. It booted, with the same problem. So I performed another hard reset. I did some configuration [the response acting normal at this point], and then turned the screen off. Turning it back on brought the same problem back.
This problem still exists on my phone, even after numerous hard resets and even ROM flashes.
A better description of the problem: When the device is first turned back on [meaning brought out of standby], its touch response is messed up. It will immediately and accurately detect any touch input, but it will continue to detect the input for up to 30 seconds AFTER it has been released, as if you were holding it the whole time.
WHY is this???? My phone is almost unusable because of this!!!! I can still place/ receive calls, using the navigation buttons and the red and green buttons. But the touch response is screwed!
Can someone please shed some light on this problem I'm having?
Phone specs: Windows Mobile 6.1, HTC / Sprint customized. Minimal third party software is currently installed.
[I've already determined that third party software is not the problem, because i haven't installed any!]
Possible solution
Hi,
today I experienced something similar to your description - no touch response when I tried to pickup a call. The strange thing is that last night everything was working and no settings were modified nor programs were added/removed. The screen suddenly 'died'. At the moment I am using it through a program MyMobiler which brings the mobile display to the PC and I can use the mouse to control the phone (it is like VNC for the phone screen, the phone is connected with ActiveSync).
This is temporary solution untill I finish my backups of files, programs, settings. I didnot performed hard reset yet, hope this will solve my problem
In the following link there is a 'magical' solution - to remove the screen protector:
http://www.htcwiki.com/thread/1112981/LCD+or+Touch+screen+not+working
P.S. I had removed the screen protector and voilá - the screen is now touch responsive. The root cause of the problem obviously is the dust between the screen and the protector which results in constant screen pressing - and as a result no accepting my finger presses.
I hope this will work for you and others with similar problem.
I had a similar experience with an old Vogue.....In my case, there was no battery death precursor, but it just started acting up. Not too long thereafter, I noticed the screen/digitizer was forming what looked like an air bubble between the digitizer and the LCD on one place of the screen. The screen was becoming defective. I eventually had to buy another Vogue from a friend who didn't have a clue of the 6900's potential, and didn't want his anymore, so I got it cheap.
Sounds like your screen/digitizer may be on it's last leg.
I just set a 4 digit password on my HTC HD T8282 a few days ago. Its worked fine for several days - when I turn it on and enter the 4 digit code, everything is fine. But a couple days ago I turned it on and the password screen shows the number pad, but when I touch the numbers, nothing happens (usually I would see an * for each digit I press), but nothing happens when I touch the digits now, however I can press the "Menu" button on the bottom right of the screen and get a selection of Reset Password or Cancel - but the only option that can be selected is cancel (the 'Reset Password' option is greyed out).
Any idea how I fix this, I can't use may phone now!
I'm trying to avoid doing a hard reset if I can.
Any suggestions???
it might be an issue with your touch screen calibration, have you tried connecting and controlling the device using a windows pc and mymobiler?
Interesting! I did notice that the screen calibration was off one day and recalibrated it and everything seemed fine after that. But I'll definitely give this a try! I'll let you know what happend too.
Thanks for the quick response!

I downloaded mymobiler v1.25 and intalled it. My PC is running Windows XP and I use ActiveSync v4.5. ActiveSync is able to connect to my pnone when its connected to my PC but I can't get mymobiler to connect to it.
I see the mymobiler icon in the system tray but it gives a "not connected" message if I place the mouse cursor over the icon. Also, if I click the icon and get the menu, even if I click "Connect" nothing seems to happen.
Also, the mymobiler screen doesn't show when I select "Open Mobiler".
Anything I'm doing wrong?
that reminds me of the question i should have asked in the first place:
did you set the password with the windows mobile built-in security feature or using a 3rd party software?
background: the windows mobile's own security is meant to prevent proper activesync connections, because, without entering the password, you are not supposed to be able to sync data or access the phone, in that case, activesync should ask you for your 4 digit password, before the connection is really established.
also, if i remember correctly from my blueangel (which had a password bug with cooked roms), a hard reset wouldn't even be enough to unlock the phone again, because potential thieves could do that as well and had a brand new phone on their hands. so only flashing the device with another rom did the trick.
assuming that, as a reasonable windows mobile user, you create regular pim backups, either using pimbackup, MS myphone or outlook sync, you might be better off, just flashing the rom again, performing a hard reset and start over. after all, as of now, your phone is only a useless brick and being able to use such a great device again should be worth more than a few sms or the 90-120 minutes it takes you to flash the device and set it up again and install your apps.

Its the Window's built in security feature.
It seems as the activeSync works to update my Microsoft Outlook with information from my phone while connected to my PC. But Mymobiler doesn't connect to the phone.
I wouldn't even know where to start for flashing the rom - never done that, looks like I'm going to have to do some reading on the forum...
UPDATE: I did a hard reset on my phone and now after booting, it shows a screen alignment screen and I keep pressing on the screen where the marker is, each time the marker moves to the next location (center then each corner of the screen). After I finish with each location, the process starts all over again - it just keeps doing this.
Any idea what is wrong now???
if it just keeps starting over, the points you pressed were too far off the regular grid, so the device "doesn't believe it". you should have a look at your screen, whether somewhere there might be a tiny peace of dirt or an air bubble under the screenprotector or something like that. since the blackstone lacks multitouch, when it detects 2 display touches, the relative center of the 2 points pressed is the touch point it recognizes. say, you have dirt pressing your display in the top left, you are aligning the screen at the bottom right, it will determine the relative middle of the display as touched point.
so what i'm trying to say is:
either your screen has some hidden peace of dirt somewhere, which would mean, clean it thoroughly, OR your display is starting to fail due to a hardware defect, caused probably by the device's age and everyday wear and tear. in that case, have a look at ebay for the digitizer+lcd combo, download the blackstone service manual and exchange the display. also, in case you need to buy spare parts, be advised that the price for a used blackstone, depending on your location, might only be as high as 80-180$ (which makes some spare parts heavily overpriced in comparison to the price of the device itself).
Thanks again Chef Tony! I'll give that a try.
I was just looking at ebay for a digitizer+LCD combo and saw this but also saw a digitizer only which was much cheaper. Since my LCD screen appears to be fine (image on the screen visible), do I need the Combo, or will the digitizer only work (or is it much easier to install the combo, etc?) Since I've never done this, just wondering...
i believe there are a few other threads on this forum dealing with both the installation of the digitizer only and the combo. the problem appears to be that the lcd and the digitizer are glued together, which makes it very hard to separate your original unit and there is a risk of harming your lcd in the process, which makes the repair more expensive. personally i'd go for the combo for more convenience.
