Hope someone can help me with this. I am developing an application using VB.net and I have two problems.
1. When I copy the .exe file to my SX66 and try to run it nothing happens. I can see a wait cursor appear briefly and it seems to be starting but nothing happens after that (no error messages even). I have seen the same problem with other VB.net apps I have tried to use that others created.
I have the latest .Net Compact framework installed. The app works fine on a Toshiba Pocket PC I have with the older verison of Pocket PC 2003.
2. When I try to run the app directly from VB.net VB.net doesn't recognize that there is a device connected and won't copy the .exe from my desktop to my SX66. This works fine with the Toshiba Pocket PC too.
is your sx66 connected to activeSync ?
Does it run on your Emulator?
Yes on activesync
I haven't tried the emulator. As I said it works fine on a Toshiba PPC so I am figuring it will work in the emulator. I am pretty sure it is something on the SX66 because I have seen the same problem with other .NET apps that I have tried to use that were created by someone else.
is the debug manager service running?
There is a 100% legal way to test how will perform a given application created for WM5 or previous releases into WM6 without the need of upgrading the Athena ROM.
I needed this to test a push-mail application developed for WM5. My idea is changing my X7500 to WM6 if and only if the push-mail application I'm considering works on WM6. Since taking the X7500 back to WM5 once you changed it to WM6 looks impossible I look for a solution to test before take the decision.
So... I found that WM6 emulator from Microsoft is free and freely available and emulator images are free too and freely available at microsoft.com
You will need:
Microsoft Device Emulator 2.0, which is the emulator itself. This program does nothing without the emulator images but you need the program, off course. Here is the link:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...53-f231-4a64-a648-fea5e7061303&DisplayLang=en
Then you need the emulator images... let's call them ROMs if you want... but they call'em emulator images.
Windows Mobile 6 Localized Emulator Images, just donwload the ones in your language. I suggest using the profesional ones since in that set there is one called VGA Professional that match the features of our X7500. Here is the link to all languages:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...a8-1dd7-426f-a913-4f370a65a582&DisplayLang=en
Just donwload and install the Device Emulator 2.0 (the first link I mention) and once installed donwload and install the profesional emulator images in your language.
Find the entry VGA Profesional in your Start menu in Windows XP and just install the application you want to test in your emulator.
Simple.

MS Console + CMD CAB for WM 5.0 and WM 6.0.
it isn't designed for AYG shell, so it have some problems with keyboard button.
Useful for run application which need a console
(PGCC, PocketC#, Bochs for WinCE etc)
You can use PocketConsole too.
As WM5/WM6 user may you have to modify the registry.
Set the value in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\Console\OutputTo" to "0" .
PocketConsole have a lof of bugs.
So I don't recommend to use it.
It's true that PocketConsole 1.3 has a few bugs, however, there are two major problems with your MSConsole which is why I use PocketConsole.
1) I use the PhoneME CDC Java for PocketPC to run the java compiler, so I need to see the output. With PocketConsole, you run it from the command line and you see the results, as expected. With VK MSConsole, it runs in a new console window which closes right away, before I can read the output.
2) PocketConsole resizes correctly when the soft keyboard etc. is opened; MSConsole does not, so part of the console is hidden. (I'm not using the external keyboard _exclusively_.)
I'm running a Sprint HTC Touch, WM 6.
Pocket Console looked promising but it hosed my HTC PRO. I think it loaded with Windows and the device froze. I was lucky and was able to uninstall it.
MSConsole would be great if the keyboard worked!
Can anyone recommend another shell?
I am using raphael+wm6.1 or 6.5 manila
it cannot boot up after installing this msconsole. I had to hard reset my phone!
pocket console works but it automatically started and printed many lines.
It can be closed by clicking X button but not Close menu.
It seems Raphael prints some debugging logs during start up.
MSCONSOLE issue solved

Click to collapse
Set back the value in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\Console\OutputTo" to "FFFFFFFF" before reset the device.
Set it back to 0 when you want to use MSCONSOLE.
Regards
Installed this console, now each time, i start any program console opens up and i need to close it. Uninstallation does not work, niether the registry tweak above.
Do not want to to hard reset my P565!

Hi all,
I wuold like to try microsoft windows mobile device emulator, but with my own ROM.
Anybody knows how to load the rom into emulator?
You can't... it has already been discussed here at the forums.
Until now, there is no way to make an image of the ROM, so that it runs on the WM device emulator...
btw, thanks for the answer.
Is it possible to copy a program running on a PDA running WM 6.1 onto another WM 6.1 device?
We currently have bespoke software installed on windows mobile devices. Having tried to image the software over to another device, the software throws up an error saying wrong device. I don’t have the actuall code for the software installed. Would it be possible to remove the device dependency protection and create an installable CAB?
Do you know where your software installed to (external or /windows/program files)?
Can you just copy the installer file (cab) from /windows? I used to do that on WinMo, but maybe I don't understand exactly what you're trying to do?
