Soooo I just updated my xperia to the latest R3A from SEupdate and everything works great except for Skype.
For some damned reason I can't connect in skype through wifi/active sync. The program otherwise, installed fine. The error I get once it times out mentions that there is something wrong with the network, however I've been able to log into MSN and browse the web just fine.
I've spent the better half of my day searching online at various forums but have found nothing that has helped. I've reinstalled skype in different languages and from both Sony and Skype's websites with no luck.
I've also hard reset twice.
I'd give my left *** to anyone who's able to help me with this problem of mine!
Cheers!
F.
I got the R3A and although I don't use Skype, I tested it and it works fine.

Really? I'm running R3A0013 from O2 Germany and a majority of my programs are in German but some are in English but that shouldn't matter.
Orelsi how did you connect to the web? Was it through Active sync or wifi?
Same here.. installed R3A UK Generic and everything works fine even with Skype
With stock R3A UK and with Itje's Touch-It Skype works just fine. Have you tried the new version 3.0 of Skype? It is already on their site for download.

Show mw the way to liberate WiFi and I show you how to use Skype with it.
You have to get him access to Wifi and GSM Net. It works of course only via
GSM/UMTS/Edge or whatever.

Hi guys,
I'm a beginner in WM scene. I got my SE X1 from the UK O2 shop. I just installed the YaHei 15M Chinese font cab pack, everything looks fine and I can see Chinese perfectly, except that I cannot login to the Windows Live anymore. So when I tried to login the my hotmail or MSN it said sth like unable to establish connection to the service. Of course, I'm 100% sure that I got the Internet connection through the WiFi at the moment and I could browse any website. It sound like something in the language pack conflicts with the Windows Live. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

SE messed up the network connections with Windows live, it's not a language thing. YOu can only connect through cellular not WIFI to windows live services.

Thanks for you help fards. That has 80% got me out of the confusion. But I just wanna double check one thing now. Before install the language pack, I was able to connect the windows live service through the WiFi at home, but it seems lost the ability after the language pack installed.
Thanks so much

Works fine on my X1 (UK unbranded rom) with WiFi.
Sorry I dont know the answer to your problem however I believe its only the Vodaphone branded X1's that have this problem with windows live - They have coded the ROM in such a way that Windows Live always goes out via the cellular network. Unbranded phones are ok and other networks such as O2 have not put this restriction in their ROMs.
mine is from o2 too...i installed google chinese font and works very fine without any probelms!
where can i install chinese language so that i can read and write.
thank you

Thanks for your workaround and I managed to get my BB Connect working on my Touch Pro 2 and I am using BIS.
Blackberry Connect is Working on HTC TouchPro2
Dear All,
Rejoice HTC TouchPro2 owners. Blackberry connect for working on HTC Touchpro 2 now. Just follow http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4150074&postcount=35 this web-link and you will achieve your intentions.
Can't get it working for long on mine
I have followed the instructions given in the link, and can get BBConnect 106 to work on my TP2, but only for a while ...
The BBConnect 106 loads, I get BES connection, email, contacts, calendar, notes and tasks downloaded ... manage to send and receive a few email, then it all stop ... with some very strange behaviour.
I have tried everything I can think of to get it working consistently, but can't manage it. I get the impression that the BBConnect is being loaded some place where it should be ... not very technical I know, but thats the way it appears.
The TP2 I have is a Hong Kong English Language version ... WWE ... not sure if that makes a difference.
ROM and Radio version ...
The version I have on my TP2 are
ROM 1.19.721.3 (51489) WWE
Radio: 3.44.25.27
And to correct my typo in the previous note, I think the BBConnect is being loaded shmewhere it shouldn't be loaded, which is causing other features and functions of the phone to mis-behave ... as an example, I was unable to search for new networks manually ... lost the Roaming flag on the top of the screen (small triangle sign), was always displaying GPRS connection, even when not connected to the network (so E (edge), or G being displayed ...)
I also tried version 104 of the BBconnect, just to see if it was version 106 specific, but this didn't make a difference.
Apart from that, the phone is close to perfect, for me at least ... particularly like the way the screen blanks when you are making a call and put it close to your ear, then comes alive again when you move it away so you can see it and access it. With the TP, I was always putting calls on hold when I put the phone to my ear ... also like the way the speaker phone is activated automatically when you place the phone face down.
Now if I could only get BBConnect to work, it would be perfect
I did get it working, I couldn't get SetModelID.exe to run with the reg string, I have Memmaid that allows you to set programs to run and I put SetModelID.exe in there and I have email!
Question!
Why use BBConnect for emails? What's wrong with the way the emails are already on the HTC? What is the difference exactly?
Just curious because this sounds interesting.

My company disables sync with Exchange and I can only get work email with Blackberry service. I think it's a common problem.
Yipee mine works too . only problem is sometimes the BB connect tells me radio blocked or in use especially when i use MSN chat or go online with another application on the phone. is there any option i need to tweak ?
BB CONNECT Messenger?
Can BB Messenger be used with BB Connect?
Windows Mobile 6.5 and BlackBerry Connect
Guys, I would like to hear from someone who understands the 6.6 environment whether you think upgrading into WM 6.5 will allow me to still use the BBerry Connect. has anybody tried upgrading a Rhodium and then try the BBerry?

RSACIPHER: I had same problem. could not change Model ID. What is Memmaid and how did that work?
Also
C0RNHOLIO: maybe you should look into why this is happening so that your solution works all the time. Mine is a T-Mobile Rhodium.
Thanks to both
And what about a HTC Rhodium with WM 6.5? Try it but didn't get it.

Are you able to have multiple data streams? Or does Blackberry Connect shutdown when another data stream is present and you have to restart it? I can't seem to get multiple data streams to function on any ROM even with some of the old tricks from the 8525 and Raphael....

I have been running BB on my TP2 on 6.1, 6.5 and 6.51 roms with Sense 2.1 and 2.5. They all work, and no, I cannot have multiple data streams so when I use the browser my BB connect shows no connection. If I disconnect data, sometimes BB automatically connects but generally I have to run BB connect, disconnect and reconnect (so I added a shortcut to it on my programs).
For me, using 6.51 and 2.1 gives the least trouble. I dont know why.
BTW I keep getting reminders that there is a new BB Desktop update (5.01).
good idea on adding the shortcut. I have found that it rarely reconnects and I had to turn off the auto update for the weather or I would start missing emails. I hope someone gets a fix for this soon as this is the perfect email phone...

I have two streams (BB & Contract Internet) running at the same time.
I am on UK Vodafone contract so that probably makes a difference

Having concurrent connections two 2 APNs simulatiously only works for GPRS (as far as I have observed on all my past and current devices).
So if you want to have BBC and Internet at the same time you need to switch to GPRS only and disable auto band switching for 3G. If anyone knows a way to get concurrent connections working on 3G, please post how.
EDIT: The infos in the follwing post should do the job:

This thread is to enable firstcomers to comment on whether they managed to install BBC and make it work. This is a major requirement for me to move into HD2. I look forward to receiving news from you all.
if it works in winmo 6.5 why shouldnt it work with HD2?
For whatever reason it didn't work on HD.
I really doubt about BIS working on HD2, as i tried a lot but not successful in gettting it to work in my HD.
However, BES may work.
It worked flawlessly on my ex-HD (installed on shipped ROM and tested on most of the cooked ROMs including Leo build ROMs) the trick was be changing the AKU of the build then installing the latest 4.0.0.106
Changing the AKU can be done by installing the attached cab.

I was trying with cooked ROMs only and didn't get it working before.
Lemme try your cab.
But, can you pls tell me which one you have got working? BES or BIS?or both?

If you want to know the expansion for the terms,
BBC- Black Berry Connect
BES-Blackberry Exchange server - for business/corporate concerns.
BIS- Blackberry Internet Service- for by Business Individuals.
Check Blackberry site if you want in depth details.
HD2 -> BB connect
Cab installed, 4.0.0.106 too but pin is pending.
I want to test it for ya'll. If you got a bb account for me....

Try instead to install the BB Desktop tool for windows and activate it this way. No password needed (if your PC is connected to your mail server) and it works in a glimpse...

Hi,
Do you use BES?
Do you use the BB Connect Desktop tool for registering?
Have you changed the AKU version in the registry and restarted before installing?
If so and no success, it would be a shame. I also need it for work and planned to get the HD2 soon...

I am using BES.
Did not use the Desktop tool to connect.
Upon installing the software on the HD2, click 'Register', it initiates a data connection, gets an IP address, then disconnects. Longest i have had it working for is 1 min.
Will try the desktop tool but not putting any to it.
Have tried changing the AKU and other settings but
Any ideas ?
Whilst I prefer Exchange Activesync I'll give it a go again our BES when I get into the office later. will let you know
I debranded my x10 yesterday and am now running on:-
baseband 1.0.16
build R1FA016
However since then ive not been able to stream any videos. I used to be able to stream from Yamgo, Tvcatchup and MyPlayer (BBC Iplayer app). But now they all say video cannot be played. MyPlayer comes up with a message
"unable to access media stream. PLease check you have an active internet connection and that your firewall/service provider is not blocking port 554"
The youtube app works fine though. I can surf internet sites fine, ive double checked all the settings from my provider, (T-Mobile UK), but it still wont stream like it used to.
Anyone have any ideas?
