I've been working on my friends 8125. First the original battery died and he couldn't charge it with the phone, so I performed the "jump start" trick with the 9v battery. That resolved the issue, but then he let it die again, and he jump start trick didn't work. SO the diagnosis was to replace the battery...
Well now that I have a new battery that works, the phone has somehow gotten stuck in "Charge Mode" and the moment I insert the battery it starts to overheat. This occurs before even turning the phone on. Once turned on the battery indicator shows that it is charging, even though its not plugged in.
I'm wondering if this is due to a hardware problem with the mini-USB port or something.
I searched the forums, but didn't find anything close to this issue so any idea will be much appreciated.
I'd say
that it was the battery. Try another one.
Overheating Issue
Being that it was already tested with a new battery and still didnt work, I would try to go into bootloader and reflash with original att or tmobile rom for the 8125.
I have the same problem, I've already re flashed the original ROM but still have the problem, any suggestions?
Before i start sorry about my poor english..
ok, so i was trying to hard reset my k-jam with a very low battery (i think the battery is dead), It was shutted down in the middle of the progress and i needed to install a new rom.
The battery was dead, so i bought a new battery from E-Bay (2800 mAh, i think that before the first use it's need to be fully charged but i didn't charged it very much so it is possible that i killed it )
I was trying to install the wizard love rom but it wrote error 264: connection...
finally i installed the rom Xda_MiniS_LaunchROM_v154102 and then it was always stuck on the IPL\SPL screen and the OS didn't start...
So i decided to try install other rom.. i was trying to install button rom and when it was on 85% the device was shutted down.. probably the battery was empty.. i connected the device to USB and the orange led wasn't lighted.. after a couple of minutes the device was turned on (i wasn't touching anything) at the bootloader and after another couple of minutes it shutted down again... if i keep the device connected to USB, it's happened again and again - turn on and after couple of minutes shut down.. if i try to shut down the device when it's on, it's shutted down and after 2 seconds the orange led is poke out (light for a second) and the device turned on (at the bootloader) again... i think that probably the device is charging only when is shutted down, and then it's turn on until the battery is empty again, but i don't know if i'm right...
What can i do? is it possible that i killed my new battery?
Thank in advance and i'm sorry again about the english
First of all,get the battery charged with 'wall charger',it won't charge in bootloaders and with usb cable with pc.It'll only charge via usb cable in a working OS.As its below the retention charge,it'll only get charged with wall mains charger.
Which is your device a G3 or G4 phone, post the IPL/SPL.of the phone here.
Cheers!
I have G3, after i tried to install the button rom it's desplay the following IPL\SPL:
IPL: 1.05
SPL: 2.16
probably the battery is not charging because i'm trying to charge it with the USB cable from the bootloaders without a working OS and that's the problem... so i will buy a wall charger and i'll see..
thank you very much!!
OK, i bought a wall charger and i charged the battery..
i've tried re-installing the button rom and it was successfully complete.
but now, when i turn on the device it's desplay the IPL\SPL screen (GSM and OS too) with the beer picture (of the rom) and stay like that.. the OS doesn't start..
Any idea??
I just want to remind that i installed the Xda_MiniS_LaunchROM_v154102 rom before, and it was about the same problem (stuck on the IPL/SPL screen).. and also, when i'm trying to hard-reset it writes "format faild"...
Is my device dead?
Thanks in advance...
After installing boyppc Ginger_sense rom my phone froze, I had to take the battery out and put it back in. After taking it out I could no longer get the phone to turn on unless it was plugged into the charger.
Once it's powered up the phone will say my battery is 100%, however when I disconnect it from the charger it dies. I've attempted to switching to a different rom with no avail.
Help please.
Note: I own two batteries and the same thing has happened to both, so I doubt both my batteries are messed up (plus the fact that one of them is only a month old).
Also, I use CWM roms.
Edit: Note: Fixed issue by removing battery while plugged into charge and then reinserting.
Try doing a Nandroid backup, perform a task 29 and flash a WinMo rom...see if it happens there as well...
^
Will try now.
Problem remains after task 29, what should I do?
are your battery pins not bend a little?
same issue
Hello im having the same problem, but I have a huawei ascend android, n mine started last sunday. Now I don't believe its the battery, it working fine Sunday morning, the battery says
96% n I havent downloaded anything. Can u help me too thanks
As the title says I have a strange yet very annoying problem. I am running my HD2 with hyperdroid cm7 Nand build (from april 29th). The problem is that when my battery is deleted, as is the case now, and I put my hd2 in the charger it will automatically boot. I think this is due to a setting or something. However since booting drains energy faster than the hd2 charges, the phone will by turned of before it has completely booted. After a while it get's stuck in a pattern of starting to boot and turning of. I don't know why this is the case because I think my phone just used to boot fine before when connected to a charger.
So my questions are:
1. does anyone has a suggestion how to turn on the phone?
2. this automatic booting, can it be turned off?
3. Why is it actually happening?
Maybe it's a very stupid or obvious problem, but I hope someone can help me though.
Do you have installed MGLRD?, it's a Known fact, search in the forum for answer (I'm sorry, I'm with SD Builds and don't use MGLRD, so I can not help you anymore).
I had the same problem with some rom i used earlier. The only way i could solve the issue was to remove the battery and put it back, then I could insert the charger without the phone booting up. Charge it for a while and start it.
Hope this way works for u 2.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I guess this is what I used to do as well. However now, if I remove the battery and put it back in it keeps automatically booting. Also if I put the charger in the phone and then remove the battery same thing happens. But thanks for the help though.
I am currently using the same ROM via MGLRD. Because of MGLRD, it will always turn on the phone from off when you plug your phone in. This is a known feature of MGLRD to preserve the battery. Checking just now, I turned my phone off, plugged in my charger and the phone automatically booted itself then the lockscreen came on then turned itself off after one minute. This is the cycle I see every time I charge my phone if it is off. I do not see it going into any boot cycle. What I see is after it goes through this, the orange LED light is on letting me know it is charging and will change to green when it is fully charged. Did you make sure before loading the ROM to do a complete wipe before installing? Usually most of the problems are associated due to not doing a complete wipe prior to loading a new ROM.

Well, this cycle I think is caused by the fact that the charger is not strong enough. Normally if plugged in the phone would just boot. The reason that it fails to boot is that is doesn't have enough power to complete the boot cycle even though the phone is plugged in (don't know if booting consumes a lot of power?).
A month ago I bought a new usb cable. Maybe that's where the problem lies? Because I have been using the hyperdroid rom for a while now. Although I don't know if one cable can be stronger than the other.
I have found a solution btw: Though it is a bit hit and miss cause it didn't work a few hours ago. When booting I let it go into mgldr and let it charge there. After a while I'll let it boot when it has enough power to complete the boot.

Humm, now you making me think lol, the 1st time I installed Android on my HTC HD2 was the NexusHd2 rom one and he had the same problem, no battery but once I plug it to the wall charger it would do the full(normal)boot, I thought was the rom so I changed to Hyperdroid Cm7, but, still does the same..
The wipe you talking is the one, wipe data/cache right?
if it happens to you a lot, I think it's time to invest in a third-party battery charger. you can charge it out of the phone for a bit, and then you're safe to put it back in a continue charging using the phone
Tried some different roms and all them do the same.. so I reckon its normal.. Thank You.
Hi
Recently i've bought this Htc Hd mini.It wasn't new.

Welcome to HTC HD MINI Forum!
-Witch ROM are you using ?
-Have you tried Hard Reset?
-Do you use the original charging kit?
-How long does the battery last?

-I was using the original wm, but now i've flashed android with sense 3.5.
-No
-No, i used the usb cable and nokia charging kit.
-Not so much it can't take a day.
Also i can hear a strange noise coming from the charging kit. when it's plugged in. Could be an hardware error or software?
Better not do hard reset on the Android, can not help but bring you trouble ... to the charge I had the same case on CM 7.2, after a few reboot is to be changed do not know what the problem was, the developers are working on it, read forum you will find lots of information about
"i can hear a strange noise coming from the charging kit"
I would not use it, it is safer to be charged via USB cable.

Thx for reply. I don't think it's an android ROM problem. I had the same problem when i still used the wm 6.5
here's a solution
Flash Back to Wi-Mo and Check Setings\System\Power\Battery -Do not charge the battery if the phone is switched on and connected to a PC.
How do you know, that the phone is not charging?
The state of the LED (red/green/off) is changed by software (WM/Android), if the device is turned on, while the charging itself is controlled by hardware only.
You should check, if the phone is really not charging, while its turned on. Just ignore the charging LED and monitor the charging state of the battery after an hour, after you started with an almost empty one.
Best regards
@stahlnase, you're right when it comes to Android, but (windows phones) have software to control the charging. Something else;although we have through the nand installation erased entire phone, there are still some Wi-Mo "things" in this case battery setting or GPS was also associated with a Win-Mo settings. Regards!
I'm still not convinced, that the battery doesn't get recharged, just because the LED is not on
But you made an important point about enabling charging, while being connected to PC. Since demian12 is not using the HTC USB power supply, the device might "think" it is connected to a PC instead on a pure USB recharger. I believe, there are differences in the wiring of USB connectors to determine, if its a power and data plug or power supply only.
Regards.
can't flash back to wm.
I can't flash back to wm.

another problem
Ok, i've flashed the original wm 6.5 greek rom.
After that, my phone won't charge at all.It shows a solid orange light for 3 seconds then it starts blinking.
I can start my phone but it closed soon, after wm boot.
Because your battery is completely empty ... it is necessary to leave some time (5-10 min) to charge, ignore charging indicator, the battery is charging! After ten minutes put the battery out / in and start a Phone.
Go to: Setings \ System \ Power \ Battery.
And Unselect option: -Do not charge the battery if the phone is switched on and connected to a PC.
Done
all night

hello
Still me, new info
I tried with another battery.Surprize my phone shows that, that one is empty too.
Strange isn't it?
Any ideea?
If you have a good HTC charger and battery doesn't charge after you reseted windows to factory default, then your problem is hardware related.
Of course I have some ideas, but do not have time until Monday to deal with anything. Sorry. I have a suspicion that Nokia charger burned your phone. Of course, should be checked, maybe is a bug in the Android battery driver, and with the help of a trick to make the jump and put everything into place. either way, do not give up, try again and again to turn on your phone.
