Just seen this on offer:
http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/5180776/-/Product.html?searchstring=SV1740&searchsource=0#
I want to connect it to my PC, would i be able to control WMP through wi-fi using my HTC Touch HD? My PC is in the living room, and would be ideal if i got this connected to hi-fi in my room and control WMP from there.
Cheers
Bigmaz
to control your media player (on PC through WIFI) from HTC you need a n app like G-Remote --- search for it (I know its somewhere on xda)

I've used orb and its pretty amazing, but I want to take this a step further.
Orb allows you do download and play music files that are stored on your pc's hard drive.
What i want to know is if there's a way to stream whatever audio is being played on your pc at any time to the mogul.
Basically what i want to do is set up my napster account to just continuously download and play random songs from their radio feature on my home computer and have my pda pick up the audio that is coming out.
Does anyone know how to just stream all sounds that are being outputted from the base machine to the mogul?
Thanks
Figured it out.
Windows Media Encoder to the rescue!
God damn i love technology.
...well? Can you share how you did it with the rest of us? I have a Napster subscription as well, and since the Sprint Mogul doesn't support Napster at this time, I'd love to figure out how to listen to Napster on my mobile, even if I have to leave it running on my home computer.

I used windows media encoder and virtual audio cable. Virtual audio cable basically emulates an audio cable going from your computer line out into your computer line in or mic in so that there is no loss in quality. I then used windows media encoder to broadcast a stream based on whatever was coming into the mic in.
With virtual audio cable, anything audio that I play is automatically fed into windows media encoder and then broadcast as a stream that i can pick up using windows media player or core player on my titan (now touch).
Basically it goes: whatever is playing -> virtual audio cable loopback -> windows media encoder stream broadcast -> mogul/touch
Using remote desktop, I can go in and change napster stations and playlists, and so on. Better than xm or any of those because i get full access to all of napsters content.
No more sd card for me hah.
OK, I came home from work last week at 8am and my Laptop that I have set up in my bedroom as my Desktop, where I aslo have my printer/Fax, my PS3, a Toshiba AD-3 HD DVD player, and a Digital Cable HD DVR Box had a strange icon on the taskbar. I moved the curser down to it and it said Extender Detected?? I used my Media Center, I always have my tuner card in. I ended up going to sleep for a few hours my PC went into sleep mode then when I got up it was gone. Question: does anyone know if any of those could have acted as extender or what could have been acting as an Extender. I can Stream music and pictures from media player with the PS3, but I've been reading around and I can't find anything that says you can use a PS3 as Extender yet. The only thing I could think of is if someone living next to me has an Xbox, but that's not likely??
If anyone knows, or thinks they might know what it could have been I'd really appreciate any help or feedback. You can email me at [email protected] THANKS

it will say that if it finds another pc running orb or windows vista on the same network
could have been another pc on your network or possibly the ps3 if it has media sharing ability.
ps3 can definitely be uased as a MCE. It just isnt recognised fully by windows, it gets called unknown device

When I hooked up my Xbox 360 it did the same thing. It had to do with the built in Media Center w/ Vista. As you can connect or sync the two together.
Hi friends
Pardon me if this has been explained elsewhere, I did a search but due to the ubiquitous nature of the search terms, I could not find a plausible solution.
Is it possible for me to access the files in my wireless laptop with b/g connectivity using 1) Imate SP5 with wireless b or 2) over 3g connectivity with my Samsung Blackjack II (no wifi)? I know about Orb etc, but I am more interested in using the native clients for networking rather than install third party apps. Both phones are running WM 6, laptop has Vista Ultimate. Laptop is connected via WiFi WPA to home broadband router.
I am mainly looking to play my mp3 files using the phone via headphones and to play an occasional DVD using the laptop's drive and watching it on the phone.
Thanks for reading
Regards
you should be able to connect via wifi or gprs using the built-in file explorer. Try 'menu' 'open path'
You should use Orb to do that. If you are under Vista and you have a TV card, you will even be able to stream DVB-H TV.
Go to www.orb.com
Thanks SToNeD, but as stated in the OP, I do know about Orb and have tried it in the past. I am trying to utilise the inbuilt resources of the phone for an occasional movie/music streaming, rather than running the resource hungry Orb 24/7 in my PC.
Awaiting further suggestions please
hii all ... i just found a universal remote ... but me ppc dosent have any infrared im using LG KS20 .. dose any one know if it is any other Univesal remote with bluetooth
thanks
remote is infra!!!
Panosz!
The answer to your question is yess and nooo!!Unfortunatly you can control only infra devices with universal remote. But in Finnland people had a n experiment with bluetooth, and some of the hous door handle can be opend with bluetooth, but think about the pairing process. It is deadly.I mean work!!
So remote is infra, controlling some starnge things like windows or doors yesssss you can do it with bluetooth, but you need on the other side the receever as well!!
helios
i use SallingClicker alot as a universal remote for my computer. It can control almost anything on your computer (you can create your own scripts)..
Will that work with windows media centre?
works very well with windows media player, but didn't try with media center yet. but you can edit the script easily (javascript)
What about PS3? The PS3 uses a bluetooth remote control which is purchased separately for watching movies and other things. Can we use our bluetooth winmo devices to control a PS3?
Hi
I have recently discovered Spotify Remote for Android and it got me wondering if there is a program that does the following?
I have an iPod Touch, which happily sits on my iPod dock connected to my wireless network, which my HTC Desire is also connected to.
Is there an app that can browse my iPod Touch library (on my Android) and control them via my phone, so that they play through the dock speaker and can be controlled from all around the house?
Thanks
Stu
PS My iPod touch is Jailbroken so if any unofficial software was needed, I could install it.
Well i'm using Windows and Gmote on my Desire. It works really well, i can play music files from my pc on my phone and on my pc (although playing on pc from phone closes gmote server on windows, but i really don't need it)... I think gmote also exists for MAC but bing it...
With gmote you can also control your pc with desire

Use the iTunes remote on the Android market. Your iPod will appear as a playlist and you can just play that with the library appearing on your Desire.
