Hi,
Has anyone noticed that the Diamond2 always returns to the home screen after comming out of lock mode or standby?
For example, i could be listening to music, after 5 mins of me not using the screen, the phone would lock. On entering the PIN, the TouchFlo retuns to the home screen, instead of my music app. Same goes for any other app on the TouchFlo. My previous Touch Pro came back to the last opened app on TouchFlo.
Not a huge problem but would be good if there was a tweak to stop this behaviour.

I dont think that the people here see it as a problem like you and myself I started a thread weeks ago

Ps if you find a solution please let me know
I also experienced a problem with switching screens when turning the device back on. Uninstalling TouchLockPro solved the problem for me...
@Brempie
I took your comment about uninstalling TouchLockPro. I didnt have that program installed but i took the PIN lock off my phone temporarily, and hey presto, phone works as it should!
So now we know what causes the problem, hopefully HTC will have a fix for it....eventually.
I'll live with the bug for the moment, i prefer a phone which is PIN locked.
Cheers,

I have never had this happen to me. I also installed throttle lock and it always goes back to where it was when I unlock. I just uninstalled throttle lock and did a soft reset to test and make sure it never reverted back to the home screen. Nothing.
No matter what program I am in it wakes up to that same spot. I don't know what the registry hack for this is but there probably is one.
Could you possibly try this? Install ThrotleLock v0.6 and then see if it will work. If it wakes back up to the same screen and not TF3D uninstall it and see if it goes back to TF3D or not.
*warming up this thread*
So, has anyone yet found a solution for this?
It's annoying for me as i have set the device to go to standby after 2 minutes of inactivity when on battery. When i listen to music with the musicplayer in foreground, or when i write an email and someone interrupts me, i put the device in standby by myself or it does automatically after the defined time.
In 95-99%, when i turn back on the device, it has returned back to the touchflo home screen. Very rarely, and it could not yet find any system, the device wakes up exactly where i left it. This is, what it should do everytime but sadly it doesn't.
I'm using the Stock-ROM, activated PIN-Lock of my SIM, having a (WinMobile default) device Lock (4-digits) set to activate after 24 hours (this way it does not activate itself during normal usage, unless i long-press the end-call-button), using 2ndToday with SPB Diary.
It gets more annoying for me every day, because especially during working time i frequently turn the device on and off. Reading RSS-news, turning the device off for an incoming call, turning the device on just to get welcomed by the home-screen instead of staying on the news i previously read isn't that comfortable
Having to open the taskmanager and reactivating the program means at least two more clicks everytime i use the device... so - any solution?
edit: I think i tracked down the source of the problem, watch in this thread:

Maybe this shows that I am a noob, but here it goes.
I want to save my battary power when running the GPS, but all the power saveing settings turn the phone onto standby, thus loosing GPS lock (and when I am using my better bluetooth GPS, it locks out the bluetooth and I have to re-boot). Is there some why to just turn of the screen? Is that "an app for that"? I am currently trying out SVM Power Manager, but you can not set it to turn the screen off in 2 minites or whatever. To use it how I need, I would have to turn off the OS's power saver, and always manualy turn off the screen using SVM Power Manager. All the power manager apps I have seen work like that.
Help!
you will probably have to buy an extended battery man. i think even real android phones batteries drain pretty quick from what i hear.
Did some testing. It seems that the battery will last for about 5h with the screen of (using SVM Power Manager to turn it off), and the GPS running (GPSed running it).
Understood that the battery is just under powered, but I was wondering if there was a way to make the screen automaticaly turn off after X amount of time, but not have the phone go into standby.
I also bought one of those battery powered battery chargers (battery extender). But the one I got turned out to have only 500mAh (compared with 1100mAh in the phone battery), so it turned out to only help a bit. Maybe I will try to make one with a voltage regulator and a rechargable 9V battery
I think one of the pmsleepmodes may support this (in default.txt) Try 2 or 3. It seems like one of these didnt do a full power collapse, but did turn the screen off.
katmandu421: I am not familiar with this stuff. Can you give me a bit of a more detailed explination?
Is this a built in windows mobile funciton. Can I access this in the registry?
I love it how most of us would assume he's talking Android. Yes in android, editing your default.txt to sleep mode 0 would turn off the screen, but not sleep the system. 1,2, or 3 would allow the different system board types used in various Vogues to go to sleep.
WinMo however is a different story. The GPS in the Vogue is a low power chip, but from everything I can gather is requires the system to stay fully awake. If you find an app that allows you to turn off your screen, post back but I don't believe there is much hope to that. Windows seems to think that when the lights go out, it's sleepy time.
Also, the radio on the Vogue doesn't sleep, and it's use to wake up the phone i.e. incoming calls. The GPS is part of the radio so if there is a way to keep the system board awake, in theory it should work.
SVM Power Manager will turn off the screen while keeping everything awake, but it is not automatic. I have maped the camera button to this program, so it is not a huge hassle, but I realy would like to have it automatic.
Will consider installing Android.

Did anyone ever figure out how to do this? I'm trying to figure this out as well. After finally getting GPS to work, now I'd like to be able to use some apps that need to run when in standby.

Check on Dev&Hacking. An app just came out today that does exactly what you are asking for here.

Thanks! That looks like a handy app.
An update (in case anyone hits this thread later)...I made this one change which seemed to clear up all of the problems (found elsewhere but can't post outside link yet.)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A3 8-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Connections\Phone as Modem]
"Enabled"=dword:00000000"
Now this is in conjunction with QuickGPS and all the other fiddling I've done, so I don't if this alone is responsible.
However, when running Google Maps or other GPS applications I get a lock within 5-15 secs. Also, when coming back from standby it's able to re-lock in the same amount of time. This normally required a soft restart before.
For apps that track your routes, such as SportyPal which I've been using for mapping my bike rides, they can keep a lock even in standby mode. I'm not sure if the app itself is able to hold a lock or if QuickGPS may be helping it. Either way it works.
Hi,
I've searched for several hours now in these forums and on Google, with no success.
I need an app that leaves the device switched on, but powers off the screen.
In settings/power I can dim the screen, but there is no setting to dim it completely or just switch it off.
I've found screensavers that can show a blank screen, but the screen is still actually powered up, just showing a black image presumably.
I've found apps that can switch off the screen. But you have to manually click on them to switch off the screen.
Does anyone know of a screensaver that after a set interval will leave the device running, but power off the screen please?
Suspend is no good, the device must be up and running apps.
Thanks for your help.

What apps are you trying to "keep running"? The only thing that might be an issue when the screen goes into it's normal sleep mode is that audio will stop outputting, and wifi connections will suspend, but there's cabs available here to easily get around both of those (and keep them going even when the screen shuts off).
Well, it's actually to solve another long-running problem that has made me almost lose the will to live....
Alarms don't go off reliably on my TP2.
Sometimes, randomly, the alarm doesn't go off until I press the power button to wake it up. The the alarm instantly goes off. So, if I set an alarm for 6am, sometimes the phone wakes up and the alarm sounds, sometimes not. And if I switch the phone on manually sometime later, at 6:15 say, the 6am alarm sounds then.
It will work fine for a few days, then fail.
It happened on WM6.1 and still continues after upgrading to WM6.5.
I have spent countless hours googling and searching XDA-Dev. I have tried probably ten different alarm apps, with no luck. I have hard-reset various times. I have tried various recommended registry tweaks. I've tried checking the notification queue regularly for any errors. I've tried so many different suggestions, for example, never pressing the power button to turn the phone off, only ever let it hibernate automatically. Warm-resetting it each day. And the list goes on.
So, I'm experimenting with just leaving the phone on forever. But turning the screen off at night to save power / not shorten the life of the screen hardware.
Which leads me to the question about screensavers which actually power off the screen automatically after a set delay. Just like a normal screensaver on a PC.
It's hard to easily convey the frustration I have for the TP2. An excellent phone. But a phone which I can't trust to do the simplest thing: to wake me up in the morning?
It'll end up in the bin at some point very soon now.....
A suggestion
Hi,
In my opinion there must be an application, change or customisation that is leading you to those problems. My suggestion is, to perform a sync towards any computer or server to keep your contacts, then, hard reset and keep the phone with the factory defaults for a while. Then, test the phone's alarms and if all is okay, add one by one your applications and changes, testing the alarms in between. Please do that on the official ROM (whatever 6.5 or 6.1) but official one. You will flash if needed later on.
I know it will be a pain, but you will find the problem.
I am using a TP2 with stock WM6.5 ROM. I have not had yet any issue with the alarms. However, I remember to have had those kind of problems before with WM 5.0 and 6.1. There were always related to freeware applications, customisations, no official ROMs, registry hacks and restored backups done from older builds upon upgrade. The alarm bug in old WM version was also known, but I have not experienced it on newer versions.
There can be some issues with the notification database by times, but as said above, it is almost every time due to customisations.
I am not saying that we should keep our phones without applications, third party software, cooked ROMs, customisation etc. But the goal is to find out what is the reason, and believe me. It is the best if not only way.
If you post the list of applications and hacks that you have in your phone, I can try to see if there is any I could identify like guilty one, based on my own experience.
Complementary, I recommend you to install and use these two applications in attachment. They have worked for me on WM5, 6, 6.1 and 6.5 so far. They are freeware and therefore you can use them without problems.
Good luck!
Thanks for taking the time to reply. All very good advice. I'll have a go when I've got some free time again. In the meantime, has anyone come across a screensaver that actually powers off the screen please?
Thanks again.

do you turn your ringer to silent or vibrate when you go to bed? if so,
go to start/settings/clocks&alarms/more and make sure that the "sound alarms box" is checked. this will make sure that even if your phone ringers/alerts are off, your alarm will ring. also, if you charge your phone while you sleep, go to the backlight settings and uncheck the "turn screen off on ac power" box. if you cant sleep with the phone light on, set it to max dim on ac power and flip it over. i always had this issue when i had the tmobile wing.

S2U2 on this forum.
try g alarm.it worked perfect for me with tilt
I have similar Issues with my TP2;
I notice that it is more to do with HIBERNATING than screen off.
My TP2 has go to the point where allowing it to go to hibernation means Screen of Death.
Overnight I charge it and do not let the screen go off and it seems ok (so far).
Guess I will have to Hard reset and test my freeware.
Cheers

I had the exact same problem. When the phone goes to sleep, it is ASLEEP. I didn't use the alarm too much but the phone would never notify me when SMS arrived. I'd hit the power switch to check, and bam, three messages arrive at once, some from hours ago. Immensely frustrating, but the problem went away when I installed Energy rom.
My phone is not sleeping itself down after the time elapses.anyone else noticing this, its making me think its draining my battery.
Just tested this myself, and on a one minute sleep timer, my phone did properly go to sleep.
Mine sleeps fine too.
mine sleeps fine as well. Do you have any particular app running? For example, if you have AT&T Navigator running it will not sleep. There are a few other apps that provide the ability to prevent it from sleeping. So, are you on the main screen or in an app when it doesn't sleep?
Cannot say I've had this problem. Worked at its default of 1 min, and still works after I changed to 3.
I am trying to id the app if any that is causing it but with no task manager its impossible.
I do notice an issue with the camera app. If the camera button gets pressed then the phone will stay on and not sleep, for me at least.
It goes off on it's own mostly...thanks for the reports as I work through this. I may need a hard reset anyway, hey why not Ill add a microSD at that time.
I used the update.zip from the Samsung site to update to EB13, everything went off just fine except my Epic now takes an average of 2 seconds to wake from sleep after pressing the power button, sometimes going up to 4 or 5. Not the worst thing in the world, but pretty annoying.
I narrowed it down to my non-usage of the lock screen. I typically run without using a lock screen at all (disabled via SwitchPro Widget). If I turn the lock screen back ON, my Epic wakes from sleep either instantly or within 1/2 a second. With the lock screen disabled (no pattern lock either), it's super slow to wake.
Anyone have any ideas on what I could try?
Mine works just fine, but I'm using the lock screen, try uninstalling that widget and see if it corrects the problem when you use the lock screen.
Small update to this. I had an idea to move all the apps that I had moved to the SD card back to the phone to see if that helped. It does. With the lock screen on, my Epic comes back from sleep instantly every time. With lock screen off it varies between 1/2 and 1 second.
The apps I moved to SD were ones I hardly used.. I don't know why that would have an effect on the wake time?
Mine seems a bit slow too. But it's not the 4 or 5 seconds you described. It seems like it's about one second, when it used to be anywhere between instantly and half a second.
It's kind of annoying because the delay is just barely too long to where I start second guessing myself on whether or not I pushed the button in all the way or not.
Go to your display setting and reset your horizantal calibration accelerometer... that fixed my phone waking up issue...

Unfortunately, I had already tried recalibrating. I do, however, have no lock on and widget locker running. Do any of you use either of these?

I use the same program as you do and I have the exact same problem So your not alone.
Mine is slow to wake also, about a second. When its plugged into the charger its instant, weird.
I'm glad we aren't alone though. Hopefully if this is a big enough issue, people will look into it. And also, they've pulled the EB13 update from Sprint and Samsung's website.
It's causing problems with reading media from the SD card and also has data issues. So hopefully in the new one, they will fix this problem too?
Looks like it's No Lock, from what I can tell. If you disable it, it comes on instantly. If it's enabled, it takes it a moment to wake up.
