Handsfree/headphones stopped being detected.. - myTouch 3G, Magic General

I have had my Htc Magic for a couple of weeks now and i am very pleased.
About a week ago i bought the Htc rce-100 headset/handsfree and used it for almost a week.. but now my phone stopped detecting it when i plug it in.. i even tried the headset that comes with the phone and it won't be detected either.. i have been very gentle with both headset and phone and i don't think there is any damage to the mini usb port in the phone..
Could it be a software problem?
please help me.
thanks in advance.

Anyone have any idea?

the only possible solution i could think of for you is to use a program with audio running and try different combinations of plugging in and out...
for example while in a call, plug the headset in and out/hang up call with headset... usually its a detection issue

PLEASE help!Microphone doesn't work durning phonecall!

My device MDA II WM2005 2.01a 64WWE radio 1.17 crashed one day after sync and install some programs. When I finished my work with PC,I took the MDA out of the cradle and soft reset. After that it only load the windows mobile start screen and no more.I took out the battery for a while and after putting it back, the device started normally, only the flash disk was erased. Then I found out that during the call the other person can't hear me,only I can hear him very well indeed.I doubt that the microphone is damaged,so I tried some voice recording, and it recorded everything quite good.So I can presume the harware is fine.then I tried this:hard reset;ROM update, radio rom update.Nothing worked, the microphone still doesn't work during the call.I don't know what to try next,my options finished...Please if anyone have ideas on this issue,it will be much appreciated!
My Andes Mic Dead Need The Schematic
I've the same Problem Can somebody help.Where I can get the Schematic for my Andes. Please
I have the same problem, except my microphone doesn't work at all. I was getting by just fine, until I managed to snap off the plug in for the "wired' headset. Now I'm stuck using a bluetooth headset all the time.
With my phone, there was no event that precipitated the loss of the microphone. Nevertheless, I have since upgraded to Win2005 and the mic still doesn't work. I thought maybe the mic had disconnected itself on the inside, so I opened up the phone and made sure the contacts were clean and working properly, still no go.
Anybody have any suggestions? Is it possible to burn out a microphone? If so, does anyone know where I can find a new one?

Can't hear conversation unless it's on speakerphone

So, my phone stopped working a few days ago. I've been running WM6 for quite some time now and I've even tried going back to Tmobile's ROM. Basically, when I receive/make a phone call, I can ONLY hear the person if I put them on speaker. They can hear me regardless, but I can't hear them. Pretty annoying.
Any ideas?
Heh! Quite a coincidence!!! I cannot hear anything from the headset either and it happened a short while after I upgraded to XDA6. It work fine with the stereo headset as well as with a BT one. The difference in my case is that I cannot switch to speakerphone. The phone is deaf without a hands-free device.
I have posted a separate thread on my problem - here it is
i have the same problem. phone is dead without a handsfree it happened to me last night all was good, i was listening to music to handsfree and removed them to make a call and it didnt work anymore..i reinstalled the rom, but no sound..any help anyone?
maybe the phone is stuck on handsfree..it things that the handsfree is plugged in or something?
problem solved trustworthy, i've put the jack in and out a few times..and now the sound works there is a switch that is pressed when you plug in the jack and maybe it got stuck on handsfree..try pressing it a few times..i don't know. now my phone works. i'll never plug in a handsfree again
I had the same problem--it was still under warranty...new MDA was the solution.
By the time it goes again I hope the next generation will be here!
I have the same problem as lilcam, the earspeaker is dead. I had the same problem once, and the service chage the speaker, first and the ringer, later and stars working just fine. Now, the silent speaker hits again and service says is not the same problem and they cant repar it. Does anybody have a clue?

Thanks for the hint, but I REPLACED the handfree jack and it still wouldn't work without the headset
The people, who got it serviced told me that there was a problem with the mmainboard, that they cannot deal with. As I've mentioned in my thread, they also told me that a faulty handsfree jack was a frequently occurring problem with the 9100. I would recommend to pdebeitia and Sisqo to try replacing the jack. Hopefully it might help...it did not work for me though...
BTW, pdebeitia and Sisqo, what ROM are your MDA's running or were runnig at the time when it happened?

Urgent Help - no sound, registry setting?

Hey guys, I'm overseas at the moment and for some reason my sound stopped working. I haven't used a headset or anything else during this time. I've plugged it in to charge and when i removed it this morning, i kept missing calls. when I plug the headset in, i get sound... but when I remove it - no sound, only vibrate.
I have none of my tools with me (ie. installation cds or phone to usb cable). I'm sure this is just a screwy registry setting. can anyone help or point me in the right direction? I have many new contacts and won't be returning home for another 2 months.
PS. i've tried the headphone plug in and remove thing several times, even with soft reset but still doesn't unhook the sound. I'm baffled as to why this has happened when I hadn't even used the headphones.
Many thanks in advance, SINC

Broken connector?

Hey,
When im listening to some nice music, sometimes my phone automatically calls the last dialed number.
Im using a converter thingy and my own Sennheiser CX-300 II Earplugs.
This headset does not have a button to call someone.
But when im like jiggling with the connector in my phone it always calls the last number. This is REALLY anoying, i tried this
But it didnt work.
Anyone with the same problem? I think my phone connector is broken
Sometimes my headset doesnt even work anymore until i restart my phone. Could be a bug in the ROM?
Now it's getting even worse..
When i just leave my phone on the table with the converter plug thingy plugged in.. It sometimes just randomly wakes my phone or it dials the last dialed number.
So i don't really think it's a physical problem, because i didn't touch / move the phone.
I'm using NRG's EnergyROM from 18 April but i had the problem before in previous roms.
Anybody that knows how this is possible?
If you're lucky its the connector and not your USB port.
I would try a different combo of connector and headset and see if that solves your issue.

No sound on Hima

Afternoon all,
I have recently bought another XDA II. The device was perfectly working fine until a weird thing happend. The sound for some weird reason stopped. I couldn't hear anyone over the phone nor I could hear the ringtone. The most weirdest thing is that even after burning different ROMs it is still the same. I can call and it connects the call fine however I cannot hear anything what the other person is saying. Its like the device gone mute! totally!.
Anyone had same or similar issues? and how did you manage to solve it?
Regards
Jay
there is a mechanical detector which detect when the headset is connected
when it gets stuck that happpens
many people fix it by inserting and removing the headset X number of times
Rudegar, Thanks for the quick reply.
You mean that I should connect my Handsfree bluetooth kit to the phone and then remove it again? Though I never connected any handsfree with it.

Jay

Dust in contacts?????
Hello,
No I have cleaned the device. The strange thing is that it was working fine and then suddenly it stopped. I can hear the sound perfectly if I plug in the headphones (handsfree with cable works fine as well) however if I unplug it, there is no sound coming out of it at all.

Hello,
I have noticed another thing, if the battery dies totally and then recharged, the device plays the sound properly for a time being after that it goes back to the "stereo headphones" sound.
I am out of ideas what to do next. (I have installed different ROMs, added old and new Radio versions nothing is working).

After searching around endlessly I found a solution. I had to open the Hima and create a contact between the two gold springs with the speaker device. Here is the full solution given by Rayan :

Hope this helps others in future.
