I had taken HTC Magic ( the one with 288 MB ram) and found no google app bundled with it. Infact it does not have Market app installed.
So in short there is no way to install applications from android market place
I bought the HTC magic a couple of weeks ago. This is not a google phone and has none of the google goodies we would expect on this phone. This means no integrated google apps, no google maps and no android market. The only things available are the so called airtel 'applications' that have been listed by the original poster.
No way but to try flashing a different ROM - if someone succeeds with that, please let me know.
Airtel/HTC had given us a crap
Look into this post : http://www.google.com/support/forum...ad?fid=210edc646b5b96f700046eebff1b21f6&hl=en
To summarize: Handset given in India is protected so it can not be rooted. And if you wish to have google experience on your handset, you need to flash it, for which you have to root it.
Hence we are trapped
If you want access to the same apps that are in the market you can go Here that "should " work. But i'm not 100% as my phone has market access.
Clinton
cyrket.com is just another interface for market. So if handset dont have access to market, then it wont be able to access market apps via cyrket .
So bad ...
This phone is a complete let down if you want it for development and you need to use google apis

Hi I have an Xperia x10 phone but I can only see the free applications in the market. Must be because I am not part of the only 13 countries that can. If I root my phone can that help me get paid apps? Is there another way to get paid apps? Here is my phone info:
Model: X10i
FW: 1.6
Buld No. R2BA026
Country phone use: Honduras, Central America.
Any help would be appreciated
Hi this problem has already ben asked and answered on here somewhere.. If you use the search function I'm sure you'll find the answer you are looking for.
Sent from my x10 using XDA and swype.
First
Root your phone
Second
Find one from those application
Market enabler
Market access
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I so hope I don't get banned as I'm sure this doesn't count as piracy or anything, if you ARE willing to pay for them, there is an application called MarketEnabler (http://code.google.com/p/market-enabler/downloads/detail?name=MarketEnabler_latest.html) which fakes your market to display content as though you was in a different region.
I do believe your phone needs to be rooted, though.
MarketAccess is a complete rewrite of the MarketEnabler. scan the QR code.

This Android application emulates the SIM card of the chosen operator and makes paid apps accessible in the Android Market. You need it if you want to buy apps and games from Market, but Market is not (yet) available in your country or for your operator.
MarketAccess, as well as MarketEnabler requires root available on the device. It means than you need to unlock your phone and install the su application which will manage permissions for other apps that want to get root on the device. search XDA for details on rooting.
Thanks everyone for your help. I've succesfully rooted and installed market access on my phone and purchased Fruit Ninja just to give it a try. It kinda sucks though cause the touch feature on the Xperia x10 is not as smooth as the Iphone, so I can't even use the game properly. Thanks again!!

and cloud installation works like a charm! however, not all applications are supported on Notion Ink Adam.
Yes, i'm rooted. Probably won't work if you're not rooted since you dont have google service and you're not "logged" onto your google account
Are you Rooted? If so, anyone who hasn't rooted, please tryit and let us know!
Im not rooted atm and it works, but some apps arent compatible with the Adam, Google Maps/Google Earth for example.
Seems u still need Market installed since it loads info from it so u can download. So its useless for the adam currently.
Thanks guys for keeping us updated!
A bunch of us don't have or Adams yet and we live vicariously through you. Thanks again for posting your updates.
I wonder how it will determine that an app is compatible with the Adam. Does it go by characteristics (eg screen resolution, CPU, memory, ...) or does the developer have to specify what devices (or all) will work (eg what GameLoft does on their web page).

that's a good question. i think they just list it as an unknown device in their database. i always wonder what happens if modify the default.prop file to something like Samsung Tab....

Right. So we may have to play with this file to be able to buy compatible software if Adam is not listed.
Buying at GameLoft for my Galaxy Fascinate can be painful. When they gave away Dungeon Hunter for the holidays I had to find a version for one of the sister phones because they had not tested it on mine so it did not show when I went to their site on my phone. I hope they figure out a better way.

My guess is if you have market installed and working, it should show up as a device on your "my market account" as an option.

Do you know how to remove it?
Try the app called market access or market enabler, it could be that the app is no longer available for your region
Actually, I have the exact same problem for many apps, specifically apps that have both a free version and paid version.
Market Enabler does not solve the problem. I am trying to download Market Access now, but I cannot find it.
I will looking for Market Access after turning on Market Enabler, hope that'll work.

Nope, still didn't work.
Today I tried to download Cordy from Market. Not available for US or any other country. Then it says not compatible for GT 10.1. I ended by downloading from website and sideload to tab. IT WORKS! Do you hear me Google!
I tried looking for that app (Car Repair Manual) and I was unable to find it by name and also by the dev name, it's probably not in the market any more
Some apps will also be made unavailable if you've changed your LCD Density from default. (If you don't know what that is, then you won't have changed it so don't worry about it).
Having tried both the global and EU varieties in the UK - just a heads up.
Neither has the sign-in for Sony Networks.
For me, this meant I was unable to access Videos Unlimited (the app from Playstore says incompatible when trying to download the Sony Account Manager) and unable to use a Sony account to sign into Socialife - again, I guess, because of the Account Manager incompatibility.
No biggies I guess - but just so you're aware.
Having reverted to the unbranded UK .434 all apps are back and accessible.
Guess I'll wait for the UK version to be released.
It happened with me too when I tried different firmware other than UK, I had to revert back to stock UK just to have Sony account manager back..
By the way the account manager in play store is for Tablets as seen in screenshots

Ah, so the account manager has to be installed via the ROM so to speak - interesting.
Is it related to the update though? I've had two handsets, one was returned under warranty, and both still show under google play when I log in. The returned one would not have been upgraded, but BOTH units show as incompatible, and I doubt the returned unit was updated. I bet if you were on 434 and tried to download it, you couldn't.

It is more likely they temporarily pulled it (possibly due to the voucher exploit??)
And note, the one in the play store is the one my phone takes me to when I try to say use video unlimited and it says I need account manager and then takes me to the play store.
Hi everybody,
I have made an online tool available on my website and on google play called ApkCreator, which will let you easily build unlimited customized android apps webview from web content quickly & without coding skill by using your phone, tablet and desktop! This is the best solution at the right price to everyone, fixed cost, no monthly fees.
Made very simple, it will let beginner in android coding create their own app easily , and some advanced developer quickly generate an app used for testing their site in webview browser our anything else!
Why there is a cost? Answer is simple, Because this type of software require a fast vps hosting which cost alot monthly. In order to keep it alive, i need a revenue to pay those bill.

Phone and tab version available here: ApkCreator - Google Play

It really isn't all that but for persons who already have websites or blogs. It makes it really easy to build an app without any coding. Nice work :good:
