Seriously use the search function. But yes you keep your apps just have to redo the link to them.
Only when you have apps2sd on the device after the wipe.

If you have a ROM that comes with Apps2SD then you will move the ROMs apps and cache and restart your apps will show back up in your draw.
At least that how mine works.

ok .... i have cynaogen rom and recovery img with apps2sd on it...
so i have already moved apps to my sd..
now i wanna wipe...
then im going to re-flash cynogens rom...
my apps that are on my sd didnt so show up...
so i just re-push the apps default apps to sd....
eventhough i dont think default apps get pushed, then i restart?
and my apps that were already on my sd should show up now?

Do you have an ext2/ext3 partition? I think that's a requirement for it to work. Otherwise, if you're just looking for something to backup your apps, you can try the Apps Manager app.

thank you so much
On the other hand, if you want to keep those apps from showing up again, use paragon partition manager, or another compatible partition manager and format, or delete and reinstall your ext2 or ext3 partition as the case may be. If you bounce around the roms as much as I do, it's easier to remove the sd card and repartition it and start over clean, you don't have ANY force closes and hangs that way, unless the rom is really messed up. my .02 worth.

With so many great builds here at XDA, I of course want to try them all. Is there a way so save the settings on all or some of my apps. I have my apps on the SD card so I don't have to reinstall all of them at least. For example, its kind of a pain to set up the app Locale with all my situations every time.
Is there some xml or something for these apps that I could back up?
As it is right now I have a Nandroid of Haykuros 1.5, The Dude's, and JF's and I can load an older ROM, the restore the Nandroid backup and update with a non-wipe update, but its not ideal.

You can copy all info of the particular app you want to save settings from by copying its folder from /data/data
you can use adb pull or the terminal to cp
then push the /data/data/? to your phone when you reinstall the app...
Did this when I wanted to keep my level in bonsai blast during a wipe...

I don't know, never done apps2sd, haven't really had a problem on my phone with storage. (I keep backups of the apps/data that I don't use much on my sd and install/push-data when necessary.)
I personally like the innovation but don't like the idea of apps2sd as I use my sdcard to transfer and store work files all the time and don't like what happens when you take the sdcard out/mount it.
however...
I can guestimate the answer....
Did you push the /data/data/ path to your sd also. Because if you did then you still have all that on your sd.
After doing a wipe when you link the folders again for the sd remember to keep the files that have been there already..

Thanks for the tip. I'll give it a shot next time I flash. I assume if I had put all my data on the SD card I wouldn't have this problem, but that seemed to slow stuff down last time.

Yes, a wipe removes the link, but your apps are still on the SD card. Just use the AppstoSD app and it will rebuild the link (or do it manually)

Putting /data/data on the sd slows down your phone, and gives the possibilty of getting the STALENFS error if the phone is syncing and you reboot. if you do that you'd want a class 6 microSD for sure. Thanks for the idea of pushing and pulling the data though, I have never thought about doing that. That would have saved me so many friggin headaches

Don't know if this will help anyone, but here is a BAT file I wrote that copies files from data/data to a folder on the sd card. You could edit it with the files you want to keep.

I tried a reboot and deleted a few worthless apps but it is still there.

How much internal memory and ram do you have?
Try to download a cache cleaner from the market... Or wipe your dalvik cache in the recovery screen. It will take awhile to boot up, but should help.
Also if you dont use a2sd, try it out.. I install most of my apps on my sd and ones I use daily or hourly on my system. Just to keep heavy use off my sdcard.

Try to flash this in recovery.. It wont delete or mess up your rom.
It should just wipe dalvik

I would also delete apps that you dont use that are in your system/app
Type
adb remount
adb shell
cd /system/app
ls
It will show all your apps..
Type this to remove ones you dont use.. Maybe Stock.apk
rm Stock.apk
It is case sensitive.

I would partition your sd card.. And use a2sd. It moves most of your apps to your sd card, to save alot of memory.
Make a back up of all your stuff on your sdcard to a folder on your computer. Then use the recovery screen to partition your sdcard to ext3.
All of the main system apps your phone uses will stay on your internal but all of your downloaded apps from the market go to your sdcard.
well my phone won't reboot... I tried doing a wipe and nothing... guess I will try flashing a previous dc rom and see if that works but I think I may have a brick now

You were correct it wasn't bricked. It was just stuck on the bootscreen. It would do the boot animation and just stick and not make it to the the home screen, just was looping the last .gif image...
I ended up doing a wipe and was able to get to come up. Lost all my info but I now have a working phone and realize I need to manage my memory a little better.
Thank you all for your help and suggestions. Greatly appreciated! I will be trying to partition my sd and hopefully that will alleviate my internal memory issue. We shall see.
The space error has nothing to do with /system/app or your RAM. It's internal storage, which is the /data filesystem.
You are running out of internal storage. You need to clear up space from /data, which can include clearing caches, uninstalling programs, using Apps2SD, etc.
I want to know in which partition it would be better to have apps on? Ext or Fat? Should I move the apps which support Moving to SD card to the Fat partition or it doesnt matter in which partition the app is?
depends on your preference, for some people it might be easier to just use apps2sd since it require no setup while ext does.
i prefer apps2ext because it works for me and i just experience too many problems with apps2sd

Android sees and reports apps on your sd-ext partition (apps2ext) as internal.
App developers can force apps to install on SD (sd-fat).
If you install an app that is forced to SD then it will install on "external" (sd-fat) and be reported as such.
You can prevent this behaviour, and I recommend doing this, by forcing apps to internal storage (despite what the developer builds into the app) - you may need a custom rom for this(?). They will always be installed on sd-ext then.

Perfect:
Code:
adb shell pm setInstallLocation 1
Will set future installs to "internal" (sd-ext).
You'll need to manually move the ones already on sd-fat back to "internal" using Manage Applications... then fixed...
EDIT: Oh! I see "phone memory" - sorry. They will not be in /data/app/ they will be in /data/app-private/ which is NOT moved to sd-ext...

19MB suggests apps2ext is not working... it should never really go below ~60MB with apps2ext (I have 203 apps and ~70MB free).
The edit means that some secure apps are installed to a location that apps2ext does NOT move... although there are very few of these, nothing to account for ~19MB.
What apps2ext does your rom use? DarkTremor? If so that has built in diagnostics... otherwise, if you do this:
Code:
Terminal:
ls -l /data/
Code:
ADB:
adb shell ls -l /data/
What do you get back?

170+ apps = LOTS OF DALVIK CACHE. My 120ish is 110m.. Of course it depends on the app, but I'd say you're seeing all dalvik cache. If you really need more internal storage, you'll have to uninstall some apps or move dalvik to SD. (NOT /cache)
Yeap, i can confirm dat its all dalvik cache...so, should i move the dalvik to sd? Why? N why not cache?
Update:
Ive tried putting dalvik into sd but i had a system process error...what up? Luckily i did a nandroid before i moved it
Another update
Tried dc to cache - everything loaded just fine but cannot install apps from market
Tried dc to sd - system error n fc's everything

I have Android in NAND and I was running out of memory. So I made an partition on my SD. So that apps automaticly are going to install on my SD. That partition was 2GB. I use a ton of apps and within a week the partition was full. So how can I make that partition bigger WITHOUT losing any data?
Do a full cwm backup (titanium backup too, just in case)and also backup the fat partition of the SD card, reformat to desired size, then in cwm choose backup/restore, advanced - restore sd-ext, then restore your fat partition stuff too(important that bit, because there's android stuff on the fat partition too)
you can potentially just do a full restore from cwm rather than a selective sd-ext restore, but id try the selective restore first.

Most of the scripts have to be flashed right before instalation of the rom.
So flash a script in a rom with all the apps already installed is not a good idea.

flash the script BEFORE the rom?? that would be a neat trick to see.
@op, i use int2ext+ with the aokp jb rom from that thread, , flash the rom, let it set up, (dont bother with for example google account details and what not, just let it set up till you see the desktop).reboot, flash the script(you HAVE created teh ext partition already right? cos this script doesnt create it), reboot, then install your apps and data and such .

I will try that. But meanwhile I flashed CM10 on my phone and then the script and it's working!!!!! But I like Paranoid Android more so I'm going to do what you said. BTW yes I have a partition on my SD-Card it's 2GB.

Why don't people use the thanks button?
Start from page one, and press the "Thanks" button for everyone that helped you (or even just tried to), yes, including me.
That is better than saying "Thank you" a million times.

Try following the below steps as per smaw51 recommendations :
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
mounts and storage/ format /data
mounts and storage/ format /system
mounts and storage/ format /cache
advanced/ wipe dalvik cache
Repeat a couple times for good measure
I have already tried those steps as I found them online and it does nothing, I always have to delete everything and then return to stock ... I just don't get it >

Oops accidentally thanked you for this post.
Anyways, I have found that wiping data from recovery doesn't clear download files and such. Download Astro File manager and see what is taking up most of your internal memory. I found personally that .zip files and a few things like that were taking up oodles of storage space. Also, when yuo do a CWM backup, do the backup to the External SD card, that way it doesn't take up app space.

like 7gb? and external is 4gb because i have a partition, but the partition in my case is irrelevant because before when I didn't know about link2sd I still had this problem, but everyone else seems to flash roms daily with no issues lol?

I believe reading this thread and taking a few tips has fixed everything!

I strongly suggest you flash a stock rom using Odin and clear everything. If you still have problems with the stock rom on your tablet return it for warranty repair. My feeling is though it is something you are doing. So once back to stock (out of the box) reinstall apps one at a time - avoid apps to sd and installing them on external memory. I don't believe that can be necessary!
