I tryed to use the search function, and I could not find anything about this.
What I am asking for is a program where you can control your vibrator on an inc sms fx. If you have your Blackstone on lets say a table made of wood, then the vibrator is going mental on an inc sms imo.
So does anyone know if it is possible to control the vibrator? I know you can turn it off on inc sms, but I kinda want it.
/thx
i am not sure this is what u want, but you can turn off the vibrate on incoming msg, if that's bugging you. go to settings/sounds & notifications/ notifications tab. and from the drop down menu choose messaging: new text message, and untick the box for vibrate.

Yeah I know you can turn it off, but I don't want it turned off. I want the vibrator to be less "wild" when you get a text. Hope that makes sense.
alright, i got what u mean. and yes i remember coming across something like this, where you could tweak the vibration length. but i honestly cant remember where i saw it. let me try to search and will definetly get back to you if i find it. i think touchresponse has that option try it

Cool man. Will check it out
I tryed the Touchresponse program. But it does not give an option to change the vibration on an incomming text. It only gives settings to change the vibration when you use your fingers on the device.
yes your right, i'm sorry, but on the developers things to do list, he mentions future vibration tweaks, maybe you can ask him about that.
i found valert, but that only tweaks vibration for incoming call
Okay, thx for the help anyways, really appreciate it
Hi
I am also interested in a program or a tweak which makes Touch HD vibrate less--- like nokia- vibrate, stop, vibrate, stop!!!

Well I took the phone out of the house for the first time today. And all I can say it, how annoying it was being.
Is there anyway to stop the phone going of everytime is switching services (3G, HSDPA, GPRS etc) Everytime that stopped, swapped or got activated my phone went off. I was constantly checkingn it thinking I had mail or sms's, it was driving me mad
How can I get my phone to vibrate while on loud? Even though its on loud, its quite hard to hear when your out. But then if I put it on vibrate and I go inside, sometimes I dont feel it go off while walking or sitting down.
Any solutions?
Oh, and how do I set .mp3's as ringtones/alarm tones/sms tones etc. Can I only use the ones in the list?
The "Search" button is your best friend in here...why don't you give it a try first
Yeh I just get loads of random results for other phones.
I tried a few things but they didnt work
Edit: repeat post
I know this isn't much help but on my stock rom I managed to turn these off, it wasn't anything special it was in a menu somewhere, where I could stop it notifying me, so it is possible. Im afraid im no longer using that rom so I cannot check, the one im on at the moment has them off as default it seems.
Took me about 5 minutes to find the menus on my X1 (first WM phone I've owned) for all the problems you have listed. I suggest you either do a search or play around in the Settings.
Maybe the original poster is having difficulty 'cos they are looking for options not settings...
first thing I do when I get a new machine is RTFM no matter what it is (usually while I'm waiting charge, but not needed with the LiPo here) then start experimenting with menus. It's not hard...
There's an online help system here. http://devicehelp.vodafone.co.uk/GettingStarted.php?ModelID=344&e=0 I suggest you read it
What do you mean by "turning the phone off" what's happening ?
is the screen just going blank, (it does this or new users would be screaming about the poor battery life)
Is the entire unit shutting itself down?
Is the phone part (this is not a phone it's a pocket pc, the phone is only a part of it) turning itself off?
Maybe that's the problem, this is a very advanced device, people seem to be ignoring this..

Ringtones: Just select the file you want as your ringtone and hold down until the menu comes down and from the bottom of the menu, just select "Set As Ringtone".
Alarm tones & SMS tones: Files must be in .wav format and save them into your Windows folder. Once that is done, your tones should be available from the drop down list of tones.
Hey Guys, thanks for the solutions.
However none of tem were what I was after. I dont explain myself very well.
When I say, the phone goes off when switching between 3G, HSDPA etc i mean it either vibrates of beeps depending on which mode its on.
As for the vibrating while on loud. I have it on vibrate and ring which it does, but when I recieve an SMS it just beeps when on Loud. I would like it to vibrate too like it did on my old SE

I'm looking for an option to let the phone vibrate in small intervals and not one long everlasting vibration.
In the sound/notifications tab you can only select "vibration" and not the style of the vibration.
Am I missing something or does someone know an addon?

Search for VAlert, it allows incoming calls to "pulse" (and you can define the pattern).

Guys, here is my question... My Titan blinks the yellow flashing light when there is a missed call, but has no sound. I went in to sounds and added a sound, which is makes when the missed call comes up on the display. However, it never beeps again. I have time when I am in loud areas or don't have my phone on me, and won't notice a missed call until a few hours later. Is there a way to make a beep sound of some kind for a missed call every few minutes? I am using Reloaded 4 ROM. Thanks!
Anyone? Help!

Tried that, as posted above, but the repeat check box is grayed out and I cannot put a check in it, no matter what sound I pick. As for the manual, its kinda pointless with a homemade ROM installed.
Well my dcd rom has that option so I guess yours is messed up or you have programs or settings not allowing you to change it.
Go to settings/sounds and notifications
make sure the events (warnings, system sounds) is checked otherwise the repeat as you found out will be grayed out. I tried this and it does gray out when unchecked...
There must be an issue with the Reloaded ROM that I have. I can check and uncheck the events check box, and go into where you set the missed calls sound, but the repeat check box is still grayed out. I guess I may have to see if I can find a tweak to fix it.

The reg hack works.... But after I "dismiss" the notification it still keeps notifying me.

Thank you, that worked (can't believe I missed it).
no worries... Its easy to get lost some times in wm, even more so when this is masked by htc sense ui
Great, thanks for the tip! I thought I had been through all sub-menus but I somehow missed the "Personal" one

Hi,
go to settings/more settings/sounds & notifications.
Regards
Getrid
I kind of hate that this is my first post - A little pedestrian - I've been a longtime lurker and thanks to a lot of this forum, I made the jump yesterday to a rooted MyTouch 3G with Cyanogen's latest. I'm pleased.
Coming from a BlackBerry, I've been spoiled by the easy-switch between "profiles", specifically the ability to set the device to only ring for calls and not for SMS or other notifications.
I'm finding a one-touch solution difficult to come by - And I've already tried "Profiles", "Auto Ring", "Toggle Settings" and "Ring Toggle" - Each of them is either a multi-step process to get to "just ring for calls" or won't turn off SMS vibration, a common issue?
Anyway, great community here and I hope to be a small part. If anyone knows a simple, reliable way to set my phone to just ring (for nighttime important calls) and silent everything else (except alarms) - Please let me know!
Thanks!

Um have you tried going into settings, sound/display -> ringer volume? You can check a box and mute your notification sounds. Personally, I find this really easy already but if you must have that one-touch then.. I don't know

It isn't a deal-breaker or anything, but even with a shortcut to "Sound & display", it's a few extra swipes and pokes
I was hoping there was a shortcut directly to that screen or just a simple on-screen button that could turn everything but alarms and calls off.
Thanks

i think that if it were developed it would need to also toggle the "vibrate on" selection within each notification setting for the various apps that utilize notifications. like gmail app, email app, exchange app, messaging apps, sms/mms etc. it is currently an android weakness compared to winblow and dingleberry but the other strengths of the os outweigh this and a few other features' immaturity. try the market...
well as of right now I can offer you one thing that requires 3 clicks lol
use a shortcut widget! But that is almost as long as doing it normally... lol
although there may be a way using better cut (trying to figure that out)
yeahhh I don't know what else you can do ;p
I give up looking for it. I tried using better cut / any cut and tried the "make your own shortcut"
Apparently there is an intent to adjust the volume but.. I don't know what to put in the "data" field. Searched around and not many people know how to use this feature either haha

...point about "vibrate on" is that you'd need a shortcut (as you say) for each app if, like me, you activate "vibrate on" as part of the notification profile for each of the app examples i listed above. in other words, simply silencing notifications volume from settings/ringer_volume/use_incoming_call_volume_for_notifications has no effect on the "vibrate on/off" selection profile for the individual apps.
It seems like the whole "SMS vibrations are different" deal is what really makes this a difficult implementation - Every application I've tried has difficulty specifically with silencing SMS vibrations that are turned on - Otherwise, it's totally possible - Very, very strange that this is still an issue...

Am I the only that thinks this? all day long I miss texts and emails when the phone is in my pocket because the rings and the vibrate (specailly the vibrate) are too soft and the vibrate is so short and soft.
anyone knows if we can make the vibrate last longer?
and also the screen feedback vibrate is kind of week...maybe I am use to using the app TouchAz..something.... in my WM diamond where I could control the length of the feedback(vibrate) when the screen was pressed and when it was realesed.
Right???
Other than that so far the Evo kicks A$$
I cant be the only one after more than 33 views that doesn't think the vibrate on this phone sucks, or the response from the screen....
Come on...
I actually prefer the smoother vibrate on this phone to the one on the Hero. Seems somehow nicer, even if it is slightly harder to detect.
Im sure many improvement to the apps and phone it self will come. But for now you can use Handcent Sms. You can control the vibrating pattern of SMS and MMS messages.
View attachment hc_sms.apk
Go to handcent.com for any other downloads. I got the apk from there.
'missed reminder' in the market is great for repeating notifications...still wish it was built into android though
used in on the hero and just installed it today on the evo
Im sorry but the last two phones I had that actually featured haptic feedback had it wrong. This thing is like buttah...
Your notifications might be locked down to your ringtone volume, mine were by default so you might need to address that. -hope you get it sorted out.
Ok...now I know why I seem to think the vibrate is weak...is actually not vibrating at all for me. and i have checked in all the settings and they are all checked for "vibrate"
Anyone else's Evo not vibrating?
I tried putting the volume to vibrate to see if it works and it does vibrate that way but everytime i get an email or text it only sounds and not vibrate...
Damn.
Posting for later.
same here...it seems to have happened after i installed swype..but i hope thats not the problem
i use SMS POPUP to control sound and vibration for sms.
before I realized that the vibrate wasnt working at all I also downloaded an app like someone here adviced to control the notifications (handcent) but how can I control it if it isnt working....
the app is pretty cool btw.
going to the sprint store later to see what they say.

Did you check the settings within Handcent, and the Stock messaging app, and as well through Menu > Settings > Sounds & Display?
Just to confirm, yes when I change the notifications between vibrate and normal, those changes take place as they should. I'm on a non rooted device.
