Hi,
I've just moved to Aus with a German company and was given a Vodafone Compass IV, (HTC Herald, I think) with German Windows installed.
I'd really like to change this to English but have no idea where to start.
I'm a very competent PC user with some previous low level programming experience.
Is there a set of step by step instructions to do this?
Thanks,
Dave

Someone can help me and other users to change T-Mobile ROM to have our MDA Compact with italian language...
Hi all,
i'm interested in an italian ROM too. If anyone knows anything about it, let us know
Thx in advance
EDIT: ROM found. See here http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=15159
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=15159
As I state here:
http://www.compactjam.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=271&PN=1
the procedure is the same as for English JAM Rom
The first time I tried upgrade, procedure halted just after my OK to begin upgrading... and my MDA halted on SERIAL/USB screen after each reset... I was going to die, but I tried once more and everything worked fine! about 20 minutes and I was ready with ITalian MDACompact
of course I will be not responsable for what will happen to your mda, but I wish you to have a happy upgrade!
Have you noticed any improvement in sound quality?
Our pourpose is to have Magician with italian language.
Some of us have a MDA Compact, that doesn't have sounds quality problems.
That's ok...
Because some ROM give to Magician (eg. I-Mate ROM or O2 ROM) a bad songs quality, we should be sure about not compromising our sounds quality.
About sound quality... I still have to do some tests in some places but it seems it's better than audio I had with T-Mobile English ROM.
More about this, later
English MDA from T-mobile ---> italian language
probably once again I ask an obvious question , but I would like to be sure before doing it...
who can explain in a detailed way ( and simple words...) how to upgrade a MDA coming from T-mobile ( with English language ) into a full MDA with italina language ??
...Barchetta , if you know more , please let me informed ....
ciao

Download the Italian ROM from link reported on:
http://www.compactjam.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=273&PN=1
Then follow exactly the procedure reported here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=79192#79192
Since you already have installed English T-Mobile ROM, you don't need to change anything from that procedure, even if your rom is Italian version instead of English one.
If you need more help I can send you the procedure written in Italian, I do not post it here because I don't know if it's ok to post in different language than English.
Good luck!
hi riccio,

1.- Upgrade-Change the ROM to the lastest Dopod (be aware, you lost the waranty)
2.- Ask to the dealer why you have a german device if is possible to change the device with your local language, French or English.
Let us know what hapend.

I have the english user manual and also the service manual
[email protected] You can also go to http://www.freetranslation.com/ to use their free language translator from German to English. I have found this very usful. I still have a German O2 xda Neo and everthing is in German. I have literally translated all the menue words so I am getting pretty good at finding my way around. But if I could find someone who has a simple solution to convert my Geman system to English I would be very grateful. email me and I will send you the manuals for free... in PDF format. Also if anyone needs the German CD's and manual, I would be glad to swap for the English version.
hi new frieds got myself a new Tmobile MDA PRO i'm proud of it i already have the Qtek 9100 but i was wondering how can i change my germen language (bought it there) to an Dutch or or English (i prefer dutch) language? can anyone help me?
Thank you in Advance
The easiest way, i think, is to get a ROM of a dutch distributor of your MDA. If you can't find anyone maybe there's a Languagepack for it... I don't know about that... this is the forum for the HTC Magican, also known as T-Mobile MDA Compact (and other names). If you realy want good support, please go to the forum of your MDA!
Moving to Universal.
Is there any German ROM available?-I put WM 6 in WWE on my German T-mobile compact III and it is working...but it would be god to have a german too.
1) Can someone download the Update from the Gemran- O2 site and upload it here? I can`t because you need a serial- number of a O2 device.
2) How to change the Language file in a WM6 operating system? is this possible?
My English is poor so maybe this theme is handled here in the Forum, but i didn´t found it.
Mike
Hey guys,
I've recently sold my HTC Uni (Orange M5000) since I'm upgrading to HTC Rhodium.
However, I need an original rom, since the new happy owner doesn't understand English (and as you might have guessed it, I've flashed it to a custom ENG rom).
Any links to an original French rom would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks y'all!
I've found the following on Swisscom's web site. You can download the original HTC Universal (aka Qtek 9000) ROM in either French, English, German or Italian.
http://www.swisscom.ch/res/hilfe/anleitungen/mobile/index.htm?languageId=en
After you've changed the language on the top right corner of the page, click on
"Choose service or device" to select your device.
I hope this'll help some people out.
