a quick question i need help with - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

hey guys is it possible to flash a radio to the 8525 that would allow it to be used on the sprint network....

You should be able to use any network, though you may need to unlock your Hermes. Look here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293665
Cheers...

8525 is a GSM phone and requires a sim card. what i want to know is it possible to do something to the phone that would allow me to use it on Sprint which is a CDMA network meaning no sim card.

Need help coverting my T-mobile MDA to Cingular 8125

How do I go about converting my T-mobile USA MDA to Cingular 8125??
I currently have the latest rom that was downloaded from t-mobile's website.
I am very new to this so any help will be appreciated!
Thanks again!
The 8125 has a different case and keyboard, so you won't be converting your MDA to anything. I think your saying that you will be using your MDA on Cingular's network.
First, you need to unlock your phone. Carriers lock phones so you can't use competitors' SIM cards. Search this forum for Lokiwiz, a program that unlocks your phone.
After inserting your Cingular SIM card, call Cingular and ask them for their data network settings. After changing the settings, you're done!
Phone is unlocked already...I did that about a week ago. I maily need cingular settings on my phone. like sms and gprs and also Internet.
This is why i just wanted to upgrade my rom to cingular 8125 rom if that is possible. becaus if i do that then I wont have to chagne any settings (at least that's what I think) but i m probably wrong.
Let me know when you get a momento!
Thank you!

As long as you have CID unlocked it, you can use the Cingular ROM.
What do you mean by CID unlocked???
I can put my cingular simcard in my phone and it works fine...does that mean my CID is unlocked???
It just means that your phone is SIM unlocked. Do a search of the forums for a how to CID unlock. This will allow you to put any of the other carrier's ROMs on your MDA including the Cingular one. However, you don't really need to put the Cingular ROM on your MDA. I have an 8125 and use it for my Cingular post-paid plan. I also have a T-Mo prepaid SIM that I use occasionally. I have different GPRS settings that I use to connect to the T-Mo GPRS data service and everything works fine. It sounds like you just need to alter your GPRS settings to register on the Cingular network.

use titan as handsfree?

Hi guys/gals
ina follow on to my previous question :ie can a titan be used in europe basically and with sprint unable to help me with returns i have one more if you dont mind.
is it possible to synq my titan with another type of phone i.e nokia 6610 and have the titan act as the handsfree ? via bluetooth?
basically like the satnavs where you have the dialer but it uses your phone to connect , seems like a strange request but this would at least allow me to use the phone features
thanks in advance
check on unlocking titan, or converting to RUIM... basically, it will let you use a SIM card in the phone, so you can use it overseas...

No it will not let you use a SIM card it will let you use a RUIM card.
A RUIM functions like a SIM but for CDMA networks. In addition the vast majority of Europe is GSM, the Titan is CDMA. Two different network technologies that are not compatible. You can not use a CDMA handset on a GSM network.
I know how CDMA and GSM works... however, if you look at the FAQ on CDMA stuff, the MHz channel is the same for one of them, the 1800 i believe. I did this, and my phone works on an Indian SIM card..

unlocked wizard, signal question

I am a newbie when it comes to flashing, unlocking and all that. I have a T-Mo branded MDA and my fingers were itchy to get it unlocked. I followed the procedures listed here to the letter, and after no evident issues, wizard service tools says my phone is SIM/CID unlocked. I used WST before downgrading / unlocking, and my phone was locked for both. I am now sporting WM5 2.26 (IPL/SPL 2.26) and my phone is like it was before the unlocking. I would like to update the radio rom and flash WM6 but before that, I would like to make sure my phone is still ok. I currently have radio rom 2.25.11 which is what the phone came with when I got it off ebay.
I do not have another active SIM to test my phone's new SIM unlocked status. I do have an expired prepaid ATT sim card. When I put it in the phone, it boots without asking me for any passwords, however the phone finds no signal. (It sees the network -only Rogers - but it cannot register onto it) I put the ATT inactive sim in another unlocked phone and that one has a signal but says the sim is inactive. I usually live in Florida but I'm on vacation in Canada at the moment so I don't know if Roaming issues might be a problem. T-Mo can roam here but I don't know about Cingular. (and yet the other unlocked phone had a signal)
Should I be concerned about this? Does it mean something went wrong? Can I do anything about it? It's kinda pointless to have an unlocked phone if it will not see the other networks. Any ideas? I think I've seen similar threads here but I tried searching and couldn't find any anymore. I've been up all night and my brain is foggy. Any input you might have would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Diana
so nobody encountered this problem before?
An unlocked phone isn't going to connect to any network unless you've got an active SIM card in it.
The fact that it turns on and boots up with the inactive ATT SIM card in there without asking for a subsidy password, means that you've successfully unlocked it.
If you want the phone to get a signal, you need to put an active SIM card (any active SIM card) in the MDA.

Htc 8525

Does anyone know if an unlocked 8525 will work on Verizons network? I've been using it on Alltel and Verizon bought them out now they want me to get a new phone. Sure hate to give this one up.
If the sim unlock has been run the there should be no reason why not...
Mind you I'm in Australia...
Cheers...
CDMA vs GSM
I went back and forth on this one. (and Welcome!!!!!)
Verizon here in the states is a CDMA (EVDO) system that doesn't use sim cards, GSM systems does. This relates to how your phone communicates on the network. Now willl a GSM phone work on a CDMA network, i think that it will. The SIM card in GSM phones supply the network with your PIM to access the network, it is tied entirely to the network not the phone. CDMA requires action from the carrier, and your access to the network is tied to phone not the network. You deactivate one phone first, then activate the second. You'll probably need to supply your IMEI to verizon and they'll load your access. Just a guess though, cause I've been with cingular/at&t since i carried around backpack sized mobile phones.
Does anyone know better?
As far as I know of, no. I don't believe it has a radio for the CDMA. Although you state you have used it on Alltel which I thought was CDMA...
What reason did they give for wanting you to get a new phone?

How to flash HD2 to Cricket?

I tried searching everywhere and still no answers.
Does anyone know if it is possible to flash the Htc Hd2 to cricket or metropcs.
they are network providers, so i assume you mean unlock the phone to use them?
no flashing will not do that. you would need the network unlock code, however isn't metre cdma? if it then the hd2 cannot work on it.
Yes as long as the network uses GSM (sim cards )
So theres no way htc hd2 can be turned into cdma and be flashed to metro or cricket?
you cannot flash a phone to unlock it. as stated above you need the unlock code, you can get this from your network provider for approximately £15 just tell them you are leaving the country for a holiday and want to change your sim card to a local network sim card in the other country (to get a better rate). If you would prefer you can easily unlock your phone on the internet, again for aground £15-£20, just search on Google.
as for your other question about cdma im not to sure.
re: cdma i'm only 95% sure but i think you're out of luck, i think its a whole different hardware.
