To be able to use my HTC Home with giant Wisebar Desktop icons at the bottom.
Currently, under my HTC home I have my Live Search text entry bar. Then under that is my Pocket Sports Center. However, there is nothing below that which leaves me approx. 1/4 of my screen unused. I want to get rid of my soft keys Calender (left) and iContacts (right) and use those big icons I've seen.
Basically, I want this...
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3390&d=1195825266
but I want a calender icon (left) & this "corded phone" icon (right) that will launch my calender & iContacts, respectively. Hell, if a Comm Manager icon could be squeezed between 'em that would be even better.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=32131&d=1166278224
What program and icon set do I need to accomplish this? I'm not a total stranger to this but still learning...so a brief "how-to" would be extremely useful as well.
Well Wisbar is definitely your answer. Head on over to LakeridgeSoftware.com and download the free trial for Wisbar Advance Desktop. It will give you a 7 day trial fully functional, so you can see whether or not you want to keep it (for 10 bucks i think its very much worth it).
It's difficult to use at first, make sure you use the forums on the website to get yourself oriented, but once you learn it, it's incredibly versatile and pretty much limitless to what you can make your phone look like.
I'm fairly experienced with it and will gladly help you out if you run into any problems, but for what you're looking to do I think it should be very simple. WAD has an option built right in to disable the bottom contacts/calendar bar, but make sure you have the HTC home customizer installed so you can unlock the plugin so you can use it when WAD is running.
Let me know if you need any help, I'm sure I could help you throw something together for your christmas stocking lol
OK, so I got WAD installed. I've had HTC Home Customizer installed for sometime now. All I want to do is keep my phone exactly the same way it is now but replace the soft keys with icons.
Can ya give me a quick run down of what switches to toggle and all that?
I'm still trying to find those icons.
Hey guys,
I apologize if this is i the wrong forum. I have been looking for eons for a program that displays the upcoming appointments (all day and otherwise) in the centre of the today screen. All of the ones I have tried, pocketbreeze, pocketinformant, spb diary, calendarbar all have them left aligned. I know is sounds like a very stupid request, but does anyone know of a progrm or way to get any of these mentioned programs centre aligned?
I cant seem to find anything ...
Thanks
Vij
Todayagenda will let you indent, which isn't the same, but closer at least! And it's really customisable for your display also, you just gotta play with it a bit to get it how you want it...
Try Calendar+
I tried calendar+ you cant centre it at all...
I will try todayagenda!
Thank you for your help so far ...
Unfortuately none of those work to what I need ... One would htink it would be relatively easy to make ...
Then again, what do I know?
What!? Everything I've tried is left aligned, and that's as good as it will get. Why are you so for centered, out of curiousity?
designing an application for a new UI ... Its much easier to use existing today plugins for it ... In order for the design to work best (and look best), I need the appts to be centered ...
have you tried PointUI ?
it has appointment in the center of the screen
but it is a complete application
s2u shows next appointment centered.
i think he is lookin for more of an actual plugin, not a program. point UI and S2U are programs that run on top of the o/s, cant really work with them like you can with an actual today plugin.
Hello guys!
I think many of us came to the thinking that, though TouchFLO 3D is great UI, we should make something alternate, something that better fits our needs. And now, i think i'm ready to create one, but first we should decide how should it look like and how should it operate.
So, i propose a kind of "brainstorming contest" where you decide about the look of a new UI. But to avoid this turning into an annoying feature request list ("more tasks on today! please! please! please!" ), here are the rules:
- NO text-only suggestions - every post s/b illustrated with pen-and-paper drawing
- NO screenshots or photoshop cooks - only hand-drawings or something that look like em (yes, you can use digitizer tablet )
- drawings are NOT required to be professional - just something to illustrate you thoughts
- you are NOT required to develop the complete UI - you may just post suggestions about UI parts, but preferred things are unique navigation idea (try to forget about tabs), apps\tabs convergence, brand new useful apps/tabs
- best contributors ideas (possible with Manila API) will be implemented and their names will be listed in "About..." screen
Posts that violate rules (even best of them), will be ignored.
That's it.
maybe this is too open ended.. do you haev some ideas of your own that you might want to put forward?

I'm already implementing ideas of my own
I just wanted to know what do folks think/dream about
show us whatcha go then!
I think D-MAN666 doesn't want to influence people, this is a brainstorming If he starts with his idea, it is probable that nobody will post a completely different concept...
This might be a useful start for interface design:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=397220
One thing I would love to see is a radial menu:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pie_menu
Similar to tap-and-hold for a context menu, but instead of a list popping up, a radial menu appears. You could fit 8-12 options around the circle, which would cover TF3d's pages.
So in usage, tap for the popup radial menu, then:
- swipe up for Contacts
- swipe right for Music
- swipe down for Home
- etc
IMO, it's much easier to be accurate in swiping at different angles/directions than it is to be precise with the default TF3d slider tabs, so you could really speed your way through the interface. The same could apply elsewhere: tap and hold a contact, then swipe up to call, left to SMS, right to email, etc.
For other thoughts, here's a read on interface optimization (for the technically inclined):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fitts's_law
And maybe later if I'm bored I'll draw some mockups
http://microsoft.blognewschannel.co...bile-7-to-focus-on-touch-and-motion-gestures/
sorry for breaking the rules, but everyone else is lol...thats a link to the WM7 concept design...along with theoretical gestures...i really digg the battery bar on the bottom and the reception bar...
Ill be the first then...
A quick drawing i knocked up... manila stays very much the same but basicaly show page navigation on the manila both horizontal and vertical..
I hope its clear enough
2 ideas here
I am going to break the rules since I'ma t work and can't really be seen drawing lol.
Here they are:
- Make use of the touch capacitative ability of the the buttons panel. It's made up of three touch panels. Maybe a swipe from left to right to unlock and right to left to lock.
- Display applications within tabs. Ex: Being able to display Icontact when sliding to the contact tab.
And for UI inspiration, I would look here:
http://www.throttlelauncher.com/portal/setupsaskins/45-091setups/69-new-minimal-flow-theme
Ok, here's my concept
The general idea is to keep most of manilla look'n feel, just remove useless animations/transitions, and change the home screen.
Changes : on the right side of the screen, a scrollbar similar to the "contacts" one appears. It controls the content of the box under the clock.
On the left, a button to maximize (take the place of the clock) the box, and a fast vibrator/ring permutation button.
So, by scrolling the bar, the content of the box changes, could be call log, contacts, fast program launcher, music player, and so on.
The idea is to keep complex functionalities (camera, tv, etc) needing full screen accessible by the manilla bar, and quick&fast features such as logs, sms, player accessible on the main screen.
Nice idea, man
Hi there,
just a thought on a possible gui for the UI, instead of tabs, layers (don't know if that's possible, but it would be very cool imho)
you could have multiple layers, and have the layers in the backgound fade out and become smaller (perspective) and use a swipe up or down to navigate
Anything happening on here?
Just wondering

great idea!
like the game u can get on Playstation 3... where u 'swim' around collecting stuff and going thru lvls....
I'm thinking that the Ximoon idea is quite good but one thing that should be included is landscape option and I'm not talking about TP version but one with the same functions like the portrait one
I like the idea of the circular menus...
well first of all thanks to you guys you are doing awsome work and its always funn spendin my free time in your forums
now to my idea
does anybody know the film : the lawnmower man? theres one scene almost at the end of the film where he tries to escape to the internet i think the idea is quite amazing movn in a bowl and havin litle windows to select.
what do ya think
this is the link to the movie scene just skip it forward to about 5 minutes

Hey all. Really enjoying my X1 but coming from the more of a business user side of things I now find myself getting a wee bit angry at the little black phone.
Recently the Sony Ericsson panels have started to hang. The shell is active, I can use the start menu and applications launched there on in but the actual panel itself will not respond to input. I tracked this down to my calendar. If I set to not display any calendar entries then the panels work fine, add a calendar entry, the panel will refresh and then hang displaying nothing in the appointments.
I should add that my calendar displays just fine in the spb mobile shell and also in my today screen. Without my calendar these two panels are pretty useless to me now.
Any ideas? I really dont want to have to hard reset the device again!
Same here. Very annoying! Seems to have worsened after installing Touchflo 3d though. And I must say, ever since I’ve done that I haven’t touched the panels very much anymore. Simply works better.
i disabled TF3D... it causes lot of these problems on Xperia.. especially the hanging of the display.
now no problem
Thanks guys, I don't have touchflo installed so can't be that. I think I must have some meeting in my meeting db that the SE panels can't parse. If I wind the date forward to the 28th then all is well again, the panels wake up and display correctly. Guess I'll just have to live without the SE panels for another week then!
Having the exact same problem here. I was also not able to identify the appointment that causes all this trouble
http://tiews.info/index.php?show=software/todayagenda
It's not a solution to your problem, but a very good, highly customisable way to display calendar and tasks items on the Today screen (so it won't work on all the panels). I'm also a business user so I find the default way of displaying calendar on WM is really a joke - big waste of screen space, only little information displayed.
Also having problems with the SE Panels
I'm also experiencing problems with the two stock SE Panels. It is definitely related to the calendar displays as when I clear (via activesync) my calendar, the panels function flawlessly. The moment I sync my calendar the Panels basically render the phone useless and I have to power off and on again. The start key does however work but with horribly retarded response times. The basic panel page or Today screen never refreshes though until such time as the phone is rebooted.
I actually really like the look of the two SE Panels and as a n00b to the Win Mo platform would love to be able to use them. I find it extremely frustrating that having just received my X1, I am unable to use it in the way I woud like to.
Any ideas, help, tips, upgrades, fixs in this regard would be appreciated!
Thanks
To be honest, I tried the touch flo 3d, the home 2, but the only thing I like is the normal, clean windows mobile today screen i like it, its neat , organized, and the xperia wallpaper gives it an elegant look. I alos modified the left menu key to initiate a new sms
what do u think?
I like it's neat clean look, but I prefer using the SE Today Panel.

Same here, a big fan of Winmo Today screen. When I jumped ship from Palm OS to Winmo, the Today screen really makes me forget I ever had a Palm OS device... Although the fond memories of rock hard stability creeps out now and then.
Currently Using itje's incredible Touch-IT v4.5 ROM. The Touchflo is nice, but more of a gimmick then anything else... Give me plain old Today screen anytime.
It just seems easier on the Today screen, that's why I have a lite rom installed, along with TF3d and panels.
I tend to always end up back at the default today screen. Something just nice about it.
Yeah I use it all the time now as it seems to be the most customisable without being fiddley and does all I want it too... I would like a today that is a combination of several of the panels but so far have found nothing that I like more than the normal today...
i use the today screen as my default screen when at work as i like to be in control of how many appointments are displayed, reminders, etc. it's nice to be able to switch to another panel for the weekends though ...
i'm a bit concerned about some of the screenshots for wm 6.5. does the today screen still exist ?
The standard Today just works. Give you access to what a PDA is for, PIM. There is a plugin called TodayAgenda which makes it perfect though.
glad you guys think the same way
btw, any idea how to make a shortcut for the start button? I downloaded a program, H button, that enables me to long press a key and a program comes up... but i want to access the start menu that way

Are you trying to assign a hardware key to Start Menu? If so, go to Start>Settings>Buttons
All this talk is making me want to use the Today panel more! I just tweaked it a little bit and I'm going to give it a try next week.
Does anybody know of a way to get more programs on it? Skype is on the list, and I think TomTom is, but I'd like a couple others.
I need to use the today screen to see the G-Alarm plugin, how much Internet traffic I had this month (SPB Wireless). Also I find it very convenient to use Elecont Dialer (a scrollable row of contacts to call or sms) and Elecont Launcher (a scrollable row of apps).
So I usually end up using it, even if SPB Shell is more touch-friendly. It just doesn't display all the information I need in one screen.
I always seem to go back to the spb panel as my default. its simple and looks clean i think compared with tf3d and point ui. im hopeing that when the new 3.0 shell comes out that it wont replace the spb x1 panel (although i know it will).
I've tried all the panels, shells etc. You name them, I've tried them. As said before, the Touch-IT v4.5 ROM is nice, but gimmicky. I admit I've installed it, but only to get GPS tagging of photos. I untick it in Start -> Settings -> Today -> Items immediately after it's installed.
I appreciate all the work that's gone into developing it, but its way too busy for me
My preferred interface is iFonz 2. The interface can be as simple or as 'busy' as you like. I prefer to have just a few icons of the programs I use regularly on screen as well as icons for the frequently called contacts. Also its very finger friendly.
For the programs that I use infrequently, it's no hassle to find them in Start -> Programs, and contacts are easy to find in iContacts

Hey friends, I'm with you. I think the today screen is one of the best inventions of Microsoft and is really underrated. It just makes sense to have active plugins share the most precious place on a mobile - the information screen after switching the device on. I think the iPhone is ridiculous in this regardö - just showing icons of the programs that can be launched is lame. Also, there are really powerful plugins available for Windows Mobile. I'm personally using the built in date/time and messages plugin together with PocketBreeze for all the organizer stuff and PocketPlus for system status (battery, memory), finger friendly app launcher and additional plugins as tab (spb weather actuall). Then I use the system tray as quicklaunch and for showing the currently selected phone profile from PhoneWeaver and my softkeys start Contacts and WM5NewMenu, with which I can very quickly place a new appointment, SMS, Email, Note and so on. With this setup, I can really use the device, not only play. Everything is just one or two clicks/actions away and I always have a good overview of what's going on.
I really don't understand why so many people want a better iPhone instead of a good Windows Mobile device. Windows Mobile has drawbacks but also strong points, of which the today screen is one of the strongest I think.
I am also a big fan of the Windows today page. I think it's the only one that can be entirely adapted to everyone's need, all other software are nice graphically, but not as effective as a well prepared today page.
