Last Straw - Browser keeps quitting for no reason - Touch HD General

I'm on the verge of giving up on my HD because now whenever i'm using the browser trying to access certain sites (Gmail, Betfair, etc) it tries to load for a while then just quits the browser.
It's so f&%$ing annoying!!!

thats the most vague question ever
in fact its more of a statement
please try and give a bit more info
what rom are you using, whot other programs are you running at the same time
also you didnt tell us what browser youre running or its version number
did you try with other browsers and did it have the same results
have u always had this problems or is it a recent thing.

url redirects and market stalling

I have a couple questions regarding some issues I've had so far with my G1. I've searched around and can't find anything relating to my problems but I hope I'm not the only one.
First issue is with url redirects. I've encountered this most often when I try to download podcasts using the browser. For example, when I try to download this TWiT podcast (http://www.podtrac.com/pts/redirect.mp3/aolradio.podcast.aol.com/twit/TWiT0169Ha.mp3) directly it always errors out saying, rather blandly, "download unsuccsessfull." My workaround for this has been going to yahoo or tinyurl and removing the podtrac.com part from the url and then saving the file from the new link. Although this works for redirected urls when I can edit them, hiden redirects like (http://media.libsyn.com/media/thefutureandyou/TFAY_2008_3_26.mp3) fail everytime. If there was a perfect podcast app on or off the marketplace I wouldn't mind. Yet so far there is none that meets my satisfaction. If this is a bug with my phone, I'll be happy to replace it... but it seems more likely that it's a bug in the browser itself.
My second issue is less time consuming yet still annoying. After using the phone for at least an hour (although sometimes less, if I've used many apps) the marketplace will stall when I attempt to download anything. It will sit at "starting downloading," usually for 10-20 minutes and then actually begin downloading. I've eliminated the possibility that the market is just randomly slow, since I can instantly solve this problem by rebooting the phone and re-opening the marketplace; upon which the download starts immediately.
Alright, that's my wall of text. I would really appreciate some help or direction since I do love this phone, despite it's quirks. Hell, I wrote this on my phone. Thanks for reading.

Thanks for the reply. I'm on T-Mobile using a stock ota rc30 (friend of mine didn't know what to do when he got the prompt and just upgraded >_<). Haven't messed with the phone in other ways, save for installing/removing apps on a daily basis. I am patiently waiting for a root solution for rc30, but for now I just want to remove these bugs.
One other question I'd like to throw in: any way of clearing the marketplace cache without root? I'm assuming no, but 14MB is too much and I know it's only gonna get bigger. I hope google is not just sitting around on this and sd app storage. Maybe they're waiting till January. Seems like there are one too many features they "forgot" too include.
Again, thanks for the reply.

SD app storage is tricky, and despite all the kids whining, it was disabled on purpose and for good reason. Depending on how well applications are signed (IIRC they aren't, or use public keys that we could easily resign), allowing them to sit on the SD card would mean that people could crack them. Google wants to allow people to commercialise their applications, but if they were easily cracked (not even require a rooted phone), they really couldn't.

Browser that actually stores pages in cache, does one exist?

My favorite browser so far is Dolphin, with the stock android browser running a close second. But, the only problem with both browsers is that they don't seem to utilize much of the cache when it comes to moving backwards and forwards through web pages.
For example, let's say I'm on the General forum of N1 on XDA. I click into a thread, then when I want to go back to the general forum. Instead of taking a split second to access whatever's in cache, it'll go through the whole process of downloading all the content again.
Can it not do what our computer browsers do and just read it straight off the cache?
Opera Browser does that.. is it worth the switch is the question.
You know, I always wondered why the stock browser kept such a large cache, but never seemed to load pages from it... not that I am giving you any assistance with your question.. more like adding one of my own.
Anyone know why this is?
Sorry it double posted me...

Desktop browsers do the same thing. It's just a lot faster.
There's no way to load a webpage 100% from cache.
I open new windows/tabs 95% of the time. And that's BOTH on my phone and on my PC. I rarely use the same tab, and have been middle clicking etc for years.
I hope cyanogen can add this functionality, possible with an adjustable time frame. Say to only poll server side if it's been more than 5 minutes since you last loaded the page.
It's frustrating having to wait for a page to reload like the subscription list page.
what is stopping you from loading pages in new tabs like paul was saying. that seems like it would accomplish what you want.
Just to clarify because this may not be common knowledge...
Opening a link in a new tab is activated by long pressing on the link

I used to do that on the desire rom when I had it loaded, because switching tabs was easier and faster on the HTC broswer.
Default browser is kinda of a pain to change tabs, and the press/hold to get to the open new link shortcut is one second to long and moves into cumbersome territory.
I browse a little different on the phone than I do on the desktop. I've been on opera's nuts for years since they first introduced tabs to the world. =D

cm6 browser

ok. soooo im using the cm6 nightly rom. it all is working wonderfully. no complaints what so ever excepppppt for one thing. the browser, it is the motorola droid browser. i have an incredible and i like the incredible browser for one reason. it has regular view of websites. not the stupid mobile view. now i guess my question is is their a way to get motorola browser to view web pages regularly or do i have to put incredible browser on the cyanogen rom? if so, how do i do it?
thank you very much for any comments back.
I don't know if it's just the Droid browser -- I would imagine it's the stock Android browser. Anyway, most sites give you the option to view the PC version, but if that doesn't work, I think there is a way you can edit your device's ID to appear as a desktop. I'm not sure how to do it, but I remember seeing something about doing it to watch Hulu videos on Nexus Ones so you could give it a search and try it out.
CM4 and CM5 had the option, so I find it odd that they would have taken it completely out.
That said, I thought I'd like "Desktop View" but after a few days, I found that I like certain pages full and certain pages mobile. My workaround for this was to go to the mobile page, switch it to full manually, then bookmark it as such. So anytime I want my pages full, I just bring them up through bookmarks. I know it may be a pain, but you can try this option til you find a better solution you can live with.
it worked!
thank you both so much. each post was very helpful

[Q] HyperDroid-CM7-v3.0.0[apps2sd][CyanogenMod7 LEO 2.3.5]

On the built-in internet "browser" application, when I go to an online auction website in New Zealand called "trademe" (www.trademe.co.nz), the page partially loads and then freezes.
Can anyone tell what the issue and/or if there's a fix for it? thanks
also once I load the trademe page the whole browser application freezes as well I have to close it through task manager for it to funtion properly again. I also tried every other web pages and they seem to load fine. Its the trademe website that freezes.
You should try setting plugins to 'Always On' and see if it works. If you can load any other webpages without any issue, its not a browser issue. I have used the build you are running myself, and the browser has not crashed on me once. If you still cant load that webpage, you should try loading it in Skyfire or Firefox. If that doesnt work, maybe that webpage just cannot be loaded on a mobile device.
I can not install apps in this rom... Don't know why.
Even I have clicked the unknown source in application
Anyone can help me. thanks a lot.

Unable to download webpages on chrome

I set up my fourth. yes fourth, V20 last week (the perils of buying used phones on ebay!) and all seems good. But I noticed a couple of days ago that whenever I try to download the page I'm viewing on chrome, it begins to download but then I get the message,
Download unsuccessful
Download is canceled The content is not valid to download
The pages get the tick in the notification bar and show up in the downloaded section, but when I click on them, there's nothing!
I've tried switching to data and have never had any issues with other phones doing this. I'm still on the stock ROM and not rooted. I'm in the UK and viewing UK sites, this is really odd. Does anyone have any suggestions as I caouldn't find anything when I searched online
This obviously isn't the place to ask for help with a Google app. Contact Google through email about their Chome app.
Would anyone have any (useful) suggestions regarding this? It's highly unlikely to be a chrome issue as I've never had problems on any other phones in similar situations (obviously I tried to contact them and went on their forums but I couldn't find anyone who'd experienced the same issue). I can't get the full UK keyboard due to some random geo lock on the H910, that's why I was wondering if anyone had any V20 specific suggestions?
I'd have happily moved to a Chromium based third party browser but I need the sync capability so that the bookmarks are also available on my desktop, so it's Chrome or Firefox as things stand (not really a fan of Opera).
As an aside - I've not found a solution to this and it's NOT limited to Chrome, it is the same when I run Brave, a Chromium browser. So the issue isn't purely Chrome.
It's a sizable pain in the posterior when travelling - it's great to be able to download a selection of web pages before setting off into areas with very patchy signal. I used to use Pocket, but I'd much rather know why I can't use the native function.
