does anyone know how to clear chat history? my AIM automatically signed me in on my phone right as someone IM'd me something that...i wouldn't want someone to see if they were to look at my phone and / or IM history.
is their a way to delete past IM's? I cleared the data on the IM Data (the last of the 3 in the app list...not sure what it's officially called) but that got rid of EVERYTHING - settings, etc.
is their a way to just clear chat history?
sorry if this is in the wrong place / already been covered. i did a quick search and didn't yield any results.

Don't use AIM per se but I just close the chats in GTALK, history is gone then (my IM logs are disabled also).

If its chat history your worried about, I think you've already cleared that out. So don't worry....I think your good to go. Have you been able to find any traces of whatever it was that your looking for?
no. and yeah i know its cleared NOW but i'm wondering if there's a way to not save chat history for the IM > AIM app that's included WITHOUT clearing EVERYTHING in that app.
I just got my Touch Dia. up an activated this morning. But, on my damaged old Touch(Sprint) cell, I had downloaded a .cab that was kinda like a delete all cache, cookies, and history- program. You were also able to soft reset after aswell. Used it all the time, but don't remember the name of it right now, dangit!
Don't know if this phone needs that type of app, but for me it was nice since I was able to delete all cache, an internet history all at once.
try "Clear temp"
also try pmclean
Hey guys,
I've been using the google phone shortcuts (list of recent calls when I long-press the phone icon). Unfortunately, the recent calls list disappeared and I just get a "add a new contact" when I long-press.
Anyone already had this problem before ?
Thx in advance
Re flashing Google phone might solve the problem ?
Hi... Have you tried clearing app data/cache?
Try making a few phone calls afterward and see if it reappear..?!
Using Google Phone 8.0.148481159 here and no issue

Yes that worked ! Merci bien !
Clearing the data cache made a Google phone update appear in the play store, and after the download my recent calls shortcuts re appeared. Thx !
is there a way to remove this or disable this.. I cant even get my voicemail set up.. bc it just spins at the downloading greetings for ever,,
Clearing the app's cache might help. Might not.
So I was being a smartass the other day and opened my app list, showed system apps, and cleared the data from many, including Media Storage (lost my ringtones temporarily, had to download FX to rebuild), Contacts Storage (had to resync), Calendar Storage, and a whole bunch of other system apps with no icons that I could clear data from. Not wise I know.
Now, the phone is fine, except two things don't work: when selecting a contact in messages, and when selecting a time to be reminded in Bixby Reminders. Either will lead the app to crash, have tried uninstalling updates to those apps, and force stop, clear data. Anyone know if I can fix both issues without a factory reset ?

Usually it is OK to clear cache, not data, unless your phone is having issues with a specific app. You can clear cache and data for messages app(then just set all the settings in that app's settings, if you need) and maybe you can try to find if you need to clear cache and data for reminder app itself or all of the Bixby apps(that is a tough call). After you have tried all of the above, you can of course try to wipe cache in recovery and mostly it is perfectly fine, but once I did that on my Note 5, I then couldn't receive receive incoming calls, they just never showed on the screen, as if no one was calling. All other phones were fine and didn't exhibit that.

I've tried clearing both cache and data, and uninstalled and reinstalled updates for Messages, Messaging Service, Bixby Reminders, and all other system apps with Bixby in the name. No luck so far.
It really did improve battery life, it's just there's something to lose I guess.
