Webcam For Herald - Wing, P4350 General

Hi
Can plz anyone send me a link for Webcam application for Herald. I couldn't find one without a Trial version...
Thanks

look into octrovideo for your device . http://video.octro.com (www.octro.com) download octro , install and run , change preferences (from 1 fps to say 15 fps) and away you go , now you have a hosted webcam solution for your wm device (FREE) . you can give out links to folks and they can see in almost realtime (couple of seconds delay) whats going on from your phone's camera.

pda as web cam

is there a way to use my imate ph10b as a webcam?
thanks a lot.
best regards and more power.
Kind of...
I use a program PPCwebcam, what it does iz constantly takes pics from the cam, and uploads them to a server. Then you can see them in a normal web browser. Problem iz... refresh rate vewy low... And the server page that comes with the program to visualize the cams image doesn't work, I had to use some java and build a new one so that the page refreshes every 3 secs to show the new image.
But its cool to show someone where U are for example.
Ah... ya cant touch nothing on the Pocket PC while it is working the prog.
try doing a search for webcam it's been talked about many times
thanks for the reply.
but what i was thinking is if it's connected to a pc through bt or cable or cradle, would it be possible? sorry, i was not specific when i posted the query.
thanks again.

MSN messenger app with frontcam as webcam ?

Dear all,
I have been wondering if there is an application with messenger, which would have hermes frontcam as a webcam. After a long search I did not manage to find any apps like this. (with this i mean an app, which is running on the WM, NOT on PC).
However I came across one opinion about the thing that it could NOT be possible, since the heavy need of processing of the cam. I started thinking is that right, how much processing speed does it need to run a webcam with like only few pictures per second and a basic chat app running on msn messenger standard.
In my unprofessional opinion that should be possible, and if it is, why isnt anyone else interested in this kind of a thing, and why its not available.
Please somebody, do that kind of an application so I wouldnt have to learn WM PPC programming just because to do that.
or alternatively, prove me wrong.
/Henry
It is defenately possible. I use Web Camera plus and you phone will act as a perfect webcam. You can even choose if you want the front cam or normal cam.

Thanks for the cool info!
Unfortunately that is working as a webcam for a messenger running on a PC only.. Not for messenger application running on my Hermes itself.
Is this impossible, is this going to be my Alamo?
/Henry
Ow, that i do not know. I'm not aware of an app that can do that, allthough i think it should be possible.
Maybe someone else can help you.
Im going to have to say that i doubt such a program exists or will exist.
MSN uses a lot of processing power to convert raw video into a streamed format.
Just because it is possible to do 3G video calls doesnt mean that MSN will use the same compression method.
What they'd first need to develop is voice calls through MSN. Not just voice clips.
hey, check out microsoft portrait, it has an app for both PC and PPC it is actually a development for voice/cam chat for portable devices, work on my wizard, however I don't have a hermes, so you will just need to try it and see, post back the results.

on my wizard it does have a drop down for the different cameras it detects, however the wizard only has one camera, so i believe it may bring up both cameras on the hermes

Cool stuff! Will try it out as soon as I get a internet connection.. Just now Im located in Netherlands (against my will ) without internet subscription and with horrible dutch 3g data transfer pricing.
Reporting back from Finland! The land of the thousands lakes and stuff..
---
sry for that.. just noticed that the file is actually under 1 meg.. so even I can afford that with stupid dutch pricing..
I tried to install it but i couldn't
I've got the last windows installer but the msi gives me a error message every time (i'm running a windows xp professional sp2)

I will try that out later tonight. Which version of WM are you running? 5 or 6? and which version of the phone you have? ..or maybe you ment that its not installing on your computer..
I mean that is not installing on my computer, if I transfer the file to my hermes, it doesn't work either.
Does it work for you ?
I'm on WM6 (Schaps version 3.54c)

HD as webcam for laptop?

is there a way to use the HDs camera as a webcam for aim, msn, and all that stuff?.. make it act just like a webcam for a laptop.
There are some applications that allow you to do exactly that!!!
just do a search im sure you are gonna find them!
cheers!
cooler
What would be even better is to use it as a IP web cam.
Eg join it to a Wireless network and have it stream video and sound out.
a device like VLan Player should be then able to pick up on it.
Try Web Camera Plus.
Can be used as a wireless webcam too!
Hello!
You can use Ateksoft WebCamera Plus, it should work.

lets hope ateksoft will update it . . . . .there slow with updates i see on their site.

Jade havin problem in displayin embedded flash on opera

Hi, I am new to this community. I just got my jade for 5 days and this is my first WM phone. I have a few questions here which I will need help:
1. Whenever I surf the Net using Opera, there are embedded flash on some websites which my phone won't display. How do I solve this problem? Should I install adobe/macromedia flash player 7? I heard from some on the Net who say flash player 7 is not compatible with Jade. Can someone please offer a good solution cos I use my Jade online very frequently?
2. How do I have my bluetooth transferred files stored on my memory card instead of the default location on the phone memory?
3. On task manager, my phone memory usage normally reads 39 - 40 % upon startup, then it will rise to 45 or more after some period of usage, is it normal?
Thanks.
hi, can somebody please clarify me? thanks.
take a good look at the posts first then ask >>>
nope me ether can't find any help to that ...
For proper flash(and other normaly "desktop" goodies) support you should try the Skyfire browser. But keep Opera on as well.. between the two you should have few websites that don't work
yep use skyfire for flash i hope also opera will allow this in next updates

Hey mate, my advice would be to read up on the dummies guide to flashing roms: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505377, and start FLASHING, it can take a bit of getting used to at first but definately worth persevering with.
I use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=524032, you can see screenshots of the rom itself in post #2
Have a good read through the threads first but there are always plenty of members who are willing to help.
Good luck!
Thanks, I'll give these a go, hopefully I'm successful!!

Well, I guess it depends on what you like to do with it.
Here's a list of the things I use on mine.
CoPilot 8 for SatNav (not free)
Coreplayer (not free) for play back of movies and tv
CleanRAM - frees up memory that apps have left unavailable for Windows, saves rebooting.
myPlayer - for streaming TV, but more importantly for me, I can download programs from BBC iPlayer direct to the phone.
Internet Explorer - this is installed by default, but I tweaked the settings to make it pretend to be a Nokia phone, this is so I can watch Sky Sports using the Vodafone service. On a HSDPA connection, it is not bad at all for £5 per month
Nimbuzz - instant messenger, I have used this and Fring, which allow you to be connected to Skype, MSN, Yahoo Messenger, GoogleTalk (and theoretically Facebook and Twitter)
Midomi - Music Id to "name that tune" - not used very often, but pretty cool
when I do
Google Maps - when you need satellite or street view.
G-Watch - nice stopwatch and countdown timer
HD Soft Reset - allows you to reboot easily
HD Tweak - let's you tweak various settings
Run GPS - Go for a run or on your bike, it will track your journey and create file you can then upload to various services which will map your journey.
If you get a heart rate monitor it can monitor and chart that.
Whilst you are running it can announce your progress via the headphones, telling you various information including how fast you are , whether you have deviated from your journey, or even if you are running slower/faster than a previous journey.
Remotely accessing a PC:
VNC
LogMeIn
RemoteDesktop
These all work and may suit your needs
MyMobiler, allows you to use your windows keyboard and mouse to control the phone. So for IM, it is much quicker to type on a full size keyboard.
It is a little laggy sometimes, and I believe there is a HTC equivalent, but I haven't tried it.
I did try S2U2 - Slide to Unlock, but for me it seemed to kill the machine and everything ran very slowly.
I have tried some of the other browsers, like
Skyfire and Fennec but Opera still wins for me.
Outlook push email with Google Mail works well for me, not sure it is quite as instant always as Google would have me believe, but fast enough for my needs, and having it automatically deliver my mail to my phone means I can review them on the tube.
I also use the FM Radio quite a bit too.
Hope this helps.
