learn notes / file card - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Hi,
may be a stupid question but I did not find any satisfying software for my problem even though it is a very simple problem.
I need a program for WM (omnia) with which it is possible to learn with idex cards. I should be easy to create cards on the pc and export them to your mobile device so that I can sit in the train and switch through index/file cards and learn them...does anybody know a software which is for free and provides all this. In other words...as if you have a image viewer only with changeable index lean cards.
I know there's an app for iPhone...so WM must be possible .
ty for any help

There are plenty of freeware ones you can try, some here:
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-tag-education-3-date.html
Worth a download?

Yeah I know there are a few but I don't want "question - answer"...just need an app like "mental case" for the iPhone. Easy and good looking. Just a fullscreen filecard and you can switch through them easily...

Modifiying the Main ROM nk.nbf

Hi all, love the site btw
I have been asked by my employer to customize an XDAIIi so that basicly none of the O2 rubbish is installed, phone features and additional software are gone and our own PPC application inserted into the ExtROM to load everytime the device is Hard Rest....
With the help of this forum, HTC64 Extended ROM Tool.exe and Extra Drive Creator i have managed to do what the boss has asked.
Now i still need to trim more fat so to speak...
I understand that the Main ROM is located in nk.nbf, but the methods used to edit the ExtROM are failing....basicly i want to remove all the main .exe files so that ppl cannot use the device for anything else but our software.
Things like File Explorer, Games, etc all need to be trashed because the ppl using these things are not allowed to play...its for work only and one application,
Are there any guides or suggestions on how to edit the main ROM if this is at all possible...
I would appreciate any help available....and i thank you all in advance
To date there is no way of editing the nk.nbf on the Alpine. I believe someone has managed to decode it but encoding it has proved more of a pain in the arse and he has, after a lot of effort, ditched the idea.
It's a shame it can't be done from a personal point of view but that's the way things go......
You could look at Spb Kiosk - it permits you to control what is and isn't available. It might do what you need. It's enterprise priced though... $$$$!

Simple OS? OS GUIs 4 ur PPC

hey,
have any of u tried this application for pocket pc? check it out on this link http://simpleos.iroot.ca/index.php
apparently, it makes ur pocket pc GUI exactly similar to a MAC or Windows XP (an emulator of some sort). It comes with additonal plug-ins that you can download which emulates applications such as outlook, word, media player, etc
It's a freeware and it looks pretty interesting. My PPC has been in the shop for repair so I have not been able to try this (and probably wont be able to for at least a week) but if anyone out there can give it a shot, let me know ur feedback on this app (is it stable?does it mess up ur PPC?). from the screenshots and videos, a WM2003 version was used so I dont know if it's compatible with WM5 or WM6. I cant wait to try it out when my PPC gets back from the shop.
Initial testing shows that is it quite slow. But that maybe due to the wizards slow processor on WM6. Does not install as it should. I believe that to be an WM6 issue. Other then that overall looks good but not recommended for a wizard. Also get designed for VGA resolution. I think that is due to the fact that it doesn't install and does not configure the software.
My initial view is positive. but need to do some more testing. A cab install file would be useful.
Cheers,
thanks for checking it out! According to the support forums in the site, u can change the VGA setting. Quoted "if you unzip the files from zip, unside a "bin" folder there is a file "kernel.xml" open in notepad and change the 64 to 32 and save". Dont know if this will fix it though.
Also this application is open source i think, so if any of our great programmers here at xda-developers can have a crack at it, i'm sure someone can improve this promising application and make it fully operational for all of us here (like what A_C did with the ILock). The programmer did say that he is open to the idea of someone continuing the development of this program as he does not have a lot of free time to work on this (check the forums section in the site)

Ppl (pocket Programming Language)

I wanted to start a new thread on a new piece of programming software that I recently purchased. I was looking for a programming language that was easy to use for beginners and experts. I own a Sprint HTC Touch and I wanted to make my own software to run on WM6. I have not completely messed with it but it sort of reminds me of MS Visual Basic with drag and drop and also code. If you want more info please follow this link: http://www.arianesoft.ca/page.php?1 . This software combines some of the most well known programming languages. I was hoping that there were other people who had and were also working with the same software and who had tips, tricks, source code and software using this programming software. I also forgot to mention that this software not only installs on you pc but also installs on you pocket pc so you can create software on the go. If there are any other languages out there like this please post. I hope this fits in this category.
Yes..this is a good language..i am familiar with it..it also lets you make Games....Visit their forums for sample apps
Been using PPL for a while now. Very good application and can actually produce some fast running apps.
Certainly wouldn't use it for a professional application, but for graphics/games, it's one of the best I've used.
Visual Studio have better compatibilities than PPL I think....
But, PPL is very easy to use and costs a lot less.
its funny but i even saw A_C's Post in their forum
I have a copy of one of A_Cs S2U2 source code from the PPL forums!
The one thing I like about PPL over Visual Basic (although I like VB)is that the software installs on my HTC Touch so I can program on the go. VB unfortunately does not. But with the drag and drop it looks just like VB

Can someone develop this? - Finger friendly EZTask application

Firstly, I am not sure if this is the correct place to post this request, if not, please move this to another section.
I use the standard WM Task program a lot. I keep track of what I want to buy, eg. my weekly groceries as well as things to do. I know I can use ThumbCal to do this but they are all 'date' related.
All I want is just a simple Task program which works like the standard Windows Mobile version but the standard one is not finger friendly. I hate using the stylus when I am pushing my shopping cart.
I do not hv experience in PPC programming, can anyone help to develop something like this? I am sure it will be useful for others who is in the same situation like I do.
The characteristic of the program works similarly like iContact. It has kenetic scroll, can easily add a new task, a huge button to press on when it is completed (light-greyish wording when done). The screen is just a simple example of what I have in mind.
Thanks.
Have you tried any of these??

They are all freeware as well.
BTW gogle is your friend. I did a quick search and came up with TONS of related freeware that does this already.
Wow... thanks! Honestly, I tried googling before but I can't find anything. Will check out what you've suggested.
Look thru quickly, only the first one is finger friendly but the rest needed stylus-access. Will test out then.

My own user interface

Hello world,
I want to program a ui ,over the windows mobile system, for my samsung omnia but i don't know how to begin. I am new in developing on windows mobile but i would like to create like pointUI my own user interface in C++ or .NET (not a basic ui with bad skin like winForm ! but a ui with animation like slide, scrollauto, fade). How i do the interface ?? which library i should use ?
A ui like pointUI is in fact a full-screen program ?? it's only image move ?? I must create my own image and add it and move it ?? i don't know if it's like that to create ui. Can you help me please ?
some links ?? which library do you use for creating ui ?? which class ?? do you use winForm ? do you use MFC ? do you use directx,direct3D ? do you use windows mobile sdk ?
I would like to do like wanilla, coverflow, Pointui.. All animation. My own ui will seems to all of this. But how do this.. Just to begin. some one help me to do just like point ui first after will expert it.
PS : sorry for my english, im to bad as you've seen
I see some article that we can modify the windows mobile shell interface ! It's the solution to create a custom ui ?? Look about the kiosk mod or windows mobile shell
Why not just to shuffle through the topics of this forum a bit? You'd easily find apps like homescreen plusplus.
i don't want a program to help me ! i want to create this ui myself
I would recommend buying a book then because programming, especially at the level that you want to do will not be easy.
It is something that would take a lot of time and learning, there are no quick simple answers anyone can give you.
There's a sticky in this forum called Development Resources for Windows Mobile. That seems like the right place to start.
Just search for tutorials online until you get a feel for what you're dealing with.
i know i see that.. but i don't want create a simple application on windows mobile like button, formulaire, menu.. But it's ok if i must to spend time on it before find what i want to do.. I see some interesting topic in windows mobile sdk.
thx for answer
