GPS Application... - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV Themes and Apps

Hey there, Which GPS application do you guys use?
I'm using Garmin Mobile XT at the moment

SatNav...
I'm using CoPilot 7 Diamond Edition, which came with my device... superb

I am using IGO8, working great with my Diamond.

Currently using iGo8, had TomTom 7 on before.

I use IGuidance 2009.

I use Mobile Navigator 7.

tomtom 7 as main gps app and igo8 & destinator as backup...

I use tomtom

Ndrive (the best for Portugal)
And TomTom (perhaps, the overall best!!!)

1. iGO Amigo;
2. Sygic McGuider;
3. Garmin Mobile XT.

1. IGO 8 (with updated maps)
2. Destinator 7 (waiting for destinator 9)

Will have to look into TomTom... everyone seems to rave about it...

which is best ????
TomTom 7 and now more towards Igo8 and also for ease of use and quickness Igo Amigo is pretty usefull, all work great on Touch HD

-TOMTOM works great When Igo8 bug (problem : out of memory perpetually But igo is much better than tomtom when it 's run perfectly )

of course iGO8.
I cant understand why Tomtom should be better :x
iGO has very nice themes with lots of functions including having plugins for it.
And you dont run out of memory as long as you have a lite rom like gen.y with lots of free ram. Works perfectly here. Have it also running on my navigationsystem in the car.

Will have to stick to Garmin.... None of the other GPS applications have maps for S.A. :-(
Was really interested in iGO 8, but no maps...

are these sat navs free to download and if so where would i get one at i need ione for my holidays coming up in lanzarote

1. iGO8
2. TomTom7
3. Sygic McGuider
4. Navigon MobileNavigator 7
5. Garmin Mobile XT.
6. Destinator 7
All running australian maps.
Sometimes changing of programs is like a change is scenery. Just like something different sometimes.

I use iGO8 most of the time, the TTS on it is awesome, have Tomtom as backup as well as Voda Satnav, which actually isn't too bad either.

Best Gps Navigation Software

hello everyone!
i am going to buy a gps mouse today, the hollux 236, and now i am wondering, what you think are the best apps to use with a gps mouse!?
most of all i am interessted in navigation software, like TomTom for example. but what are the alternatives to TomTom? what's your recommended nav software?
i would also like to know, what other usefull apps there are to use with a gps mouse...?
any info is appreciated!
thx in advance,
krz
I would definetly go for tomtom navigator 6, its the best ive ever used simple yet effective
IGO - the best for driving navigation
Wich country
You will not always have the choice because not always navigation software have the maps for the countries you want.
for exemple, Tom Tom is a lot for Europe and USA and Mapking for Asia
I am using three on my Artemis:
iGO 2006 Plus with the lastest Portuguese/Spanish maps (2007.07);
TOMTOM 6.032 (8351)with the latest Iberia maps (675.1409);
ROUTE66 Navigate7 with the latest Iberia maps (Q4, 2006 i think);
Both TOMTOM and iGO work better than Route66 because R66's maps are very old and i can't find anything more recent. My favourite is TOMTOM because of its ease of use and overall speed starting up/navigating. iGO has got the looks and the maps are as good (or seem to be) as TOMTOM's.
I also have a TOMTOM GO V3 standalone navigator with version 7 of both the software and maps (Iberia Version 710) and those are way more updated than version 675.1409. Also it has much more detail on the maps.
All this text to say that if TOMTOM7 comes out for the PDAs it's gonna be a winner for me.
i would say garmin...now there is the new mobile xt prog for free for ppc...correct maps for europe...including deep city view
thx for the answers!
i think, i will give iGo Plus a shot....
what other cool tools should i get for working with the gps...?
i once heard of tools to programm or configure the gps mouse...?
interessted in more tips and tricks,
krz

the next version (Igo 8) is coming soon and I was very impressed with the demo I've seen.
But is there any good GPS software with Middle East maps. I love navigation but dont have any GPS Software.
If anyone of you have a GPS software with Middle East Maps, so please can you give me.
Thanks

Where do you get this sw free?
http://www.garmin.com/garmin/cms/site/us
you can visit that site for further information, i guess garmin works the same way tomtom does, so you can get the software for free and maybe a test map and the only thing you need to buy are the maps. i didn't look up the price for a us / north america map now, because i am at work and the garmin site is really slow.

GPS Navigation

I have spent the evening reading all the posts on navigation. Have tried Tom Tom 6 and 7 with out success, tried the versions below:
TomTom 7 V7.450
TomTom 7 V7.910 (9185)(free ram 122.6)
TomTom 6 V6.033 (8358)
Please help, device just locks up
i tried to use many programs but they didnt work properly then i used Igo8 its perfect try it out
i have Garmin Mobile XT version 5 with 2009 maps. everything works fine but there is a lag of about 1-3secounds i guess? its fine but annoying when you have to do a couple turns one after another.. but oh well.. good enough. i tried Tom Tom 7.9 and 7.4 and they worked but i didn't like the layout and features\\
EDIT: im trying to get rid of the lag but im not sure how... does anyone have an SD card tune up? or know anything else i can do?
I'm using Tomtom 7.910 build 9185 with the 815.2024 maps, and it works like a charm. Try getting another version with the same buidl as mine.
Route 66
Have a look at "route 66" (66.com). seems to be working on a HD.
hm ... i got the v7.450 version workin on my hd.
TomTom 7.910 / Map v675 - West Europe.
Installation using the cab for TT and tomtom home for the map.
No lag, no installation issue, it just works.
Can you post the cab? Maybe mine is bad

This is the .cab i used and it works fine
Assuming I use this cab on my HD and it works, what do i have to do to get maps for it?
I assume i go to tomtom.com -> maps and choose Navigator 7 there, but then it asks for which device I want the map... does it matter what I choose there?
edit: tested the cab, seems to work, but of course i have neither voices nor maps. Have to try to get those...
edit2: if i try to add something to the device using tomtom home it always tells me that i have the wrong version of tomtom installed and that i therefore cannot use tomtom home. so, how do i get the standardvoices or a (at the moment purely hypothetic) seperately bought map onto the HD?

IGO 8, Navigo 7 or TomTom 7

thanks for those who have already tested several of these navigator to give their opinion.
I am gonna buy one of them but which one, that is another problem.
For now, I am balanced between igo8 and navigon 7.
iGo8...........
I've tried TomTom7 and Navigon 7. Both work fine, but TomTom 7.910 is seriously sluggish when navigating.
Navigon updates the screen much faster, and has a much more modern and polished look (I'd almost say eye-candy) - it's like comparing (something produced with) MS Paint vs PhotoShop. Navigon is very sluggish when entering city names and addresses, but I noticed that I could type ahead - even though the screen appeared frozen, the GUI would eventually catch up with every letter.
My slant is still towards TomTom though, but just because I find the menus and controls more intuitive (plus, I'm used to it from earlier versions). This occasion has been my first with Navigon.
I may have a-go (haha) with IGo soon.
At least you could have started a poll. Now you will have to count. But I will help you out here. iGO8 will win. It is the most appealing navigation software for PDA's. Maybe not the best, but the most tweakable for sure. And we all like tweaking
David
iGO 8, no doubt.
Yeah iGO8 is the my choice as well! anyone found 800x480 skins???
Postcodes
Hi
Could UK users of iGO8 tell me if it does postcodes or just addresses?
TIA
Cheers

Postcodes
There is an extensive review of the iGO 8 here which looks at UK postcodes
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/navngo-igomyway8-review-hmnx4.php
Myself, I still can't bring myself to buy it, despite it looking impressive, I just couldn't keep swapping microSD cards all the time.
Thanks for that.
Pretty good review!

Just some questions:
- Does Navigon support Traffic Information as TT7 does?
- Does IGO8 support Traffic Information as TT7 does?
As far as I could see, only TT7 supports traffic information over the GPRS/UMTS-connection together with the built-in GPS.

iGO8 or navigon 7
Im using iGO 8 and Navigon 7 with my HD. I do'nt like TomTom.
When I'm making long distances on the highway I like Igo8 the most because it has a smartzoom function and gives an automatic 2D map overview during traveling.
When I'm traveling from France to the UK Navigon does'nt recognize the channel tunnel he's always using the ferrylines. (perhaps my mistake) In Switserland the tunnelmode in Igo is perfect.
For shorter city trips and when I'm, traveling in a high traffic density Navigon is superior with his excellent TMC module and better voice commands. Igo8 has a sluggish TMC support. It does not recognize all trafficjams and makes a lot of mistakes when it's recalculating a new route. Also the Navigon maps are more up to date.
The Navigon TMC module only supports the GNS TMC protocol. Igo8 supports more protocols, so I'm using two GPS/TMC devices. A less sensitive ans slow GNS mouse with Navigon and a fast and sensitive Royaltek GPS/TMC mouse with iGO8.
All installed...
I have Navigon MN7, iGo 8 and Tomtom 7 installed on my HD !! ;-)
My point of view :
- Tomtom 7 has the less accurate maps and the World's ugliest graphical interface, however it's very fast !
- iGo 8 use the same not so accurate maps as Tomtom ! For example, two hold gas-stations close to my home are missing, and the speed limit are often wrong.
- Navigon MN7 has by far the nicest interface and more accurate maps... + Reality View… + Text-to-speech for road’s name…
So for me, the choice is easy :
1 : Navigon MN7
2 : iGo 8
3 : Tomtom 7
I'm likely to be in the same boat soon (choosing a sat nav solution). But there seams to be alot of confusion around traffic options for the UK.
Anyone able to give clear UK specific info for the traffic update options for each of the candidates...
Thanks,
Zuber
Am I right in thinking that there is no Australian maps for Navigon? So for us down here it is TomTom or Igo?
use of cards

Hi Rolud,
how do you work with iGO 8 and other tools: you change storage cards or is it an iGO version you can install on a larger storage card?
I'm not requesting a "warez" solution, just to get practical registration info.
Thanks for info.
Good tracks.
Actually the 3 softwares are installed on the very same 8Gb SDHC card, included with the Touch HD...
And everything is working fine...
May as well have may say then!
How can you look past tomtom? It's the original and this newer version is far superior to V6 which in itself was awesome. V7 is on my Blackstone right now and works fine (by the way, if anyone is having issues trying to get it to run on their system, just PM me and i'll help all i can with what bits i have on my pc).
Currently running... tomtom 7.450.9028 which seems super stable and the maps to match... not V6 as we should all know by now, they aren't compatible!
Anyway, i've seen the other options you have mentioned in use in more than one location and personally, not impressed. At the end of the day though... it's your choice and (if you really want to go down this route) your cash!!!

What's your Jade's GPS software?

Did you chose/buy your GPS software or is bundled with your Touch 3G when you bought it.
Mobile XT with Thailand Street Map Version 8.01 is included on installation CD when I bought mine.
My 3G came with Route 66 Iberian Peninsula maps.
I bought IGO 8 for my touch 3G.
TomTom 7.910 with maps 8.15
I got iGO8... for me is the best one.
I use Garmin XT and Mapking2007
Google maps,
- easy
- free
- supported by most HTC models
Mapking 2007, GPS Trainer
iGO 8 The best for me
Mapking 2007
I have MapKing 2007 and G10 on my Mio168
Have it on my Mio.
Unfortunately, they only have Metro Manila (Philippines) covered on the map and not the whole country like Garmin maps, so i didnt bother installing it on my Touch 3G.
But I can say that Mapking is a very good navigation software too if not for the lack of data upgrades

With the following settings it worked without problems:
Normal GPS
COM 4
4800 Baud
But just like any other GPS software, it takes time till you get a fix

HTC magic GPS tomtom

Hi,
I have just ordered my new HTC migic, but not sure if I can run TOMTOM GPS on it, any idea of suggestion?
Thank you in advance.
no u can't. yet.
NDrive
Destinator
Sygic Mobile Maps
Co-Pilot
IGO Amigo
IGO MyWay
MotoNav
Navigon
Papago
these are all GPS navigation applications with offline maps..you can find them everywhere. personally, NDrive is the best one. theyre coming out with version 10 which has lane-assist, signposts, TTS, and a few other useful features.
i think sygic is the closest to TomTom's interface. but when i used it the lane assist didnt work, poi's are terrible, routing isnt the best, and it shows N/A for some streets instead of the name. sometimes it would tell me to go onto roads that dont exist or make me take so many u-turns...lol
