Alarm notifications - myTouch 3G, Magic General

Does anyone know how I can get custom alarm notifications WITHOUT a 3rd party program? I tried adding a "Ringtones" folder to my SD card and dropping an MP3 in but it isn't found under ringtones. I'd really like to be able to get some louder tones for the Alarm.

Add more folders, here's how my directory looks.
/sdcard/media/audio/alarms
/sdcard/media/audio/ringtones

Is it possible to use .mp3 for notifications?
Seems odd the device supports mp3 and you can use for ringtones etc but then then not notifications. I thought perhaps some reg edit to enable?
Also, is there any way of changing location of ringtones from \windows\rings to your storage card??

Custom ringtones and notifications

Hi I just found an easy way to use custom ringtones and notifications sounds with SGS II.
Just make two folders in /sdcard with the names "Notifications" and "Ringtones"
and place into them the mp3 files for notifications and ringtones respectively.
Now when you go to the sound menu you will find these files and select therm as ringtone or notification sound.

[Q] Alarm Files Separation From Ringtones?

Hi,
I'm looking for a way to separate out Alarm sound files from Ringtones.
I've set up a Media folder on the phone and within that folder set an Alarm, Ringtone and Notifications folder and I've placed the appropriate files within each directory.
HOWEVER,
When going to choose my alarm sound when setting the alarm, the phone lists all standard alarm files(stock sounds in the root folder), PLUS all the Ringtone files as well.
So if I place an alarm sound file in the 'Alarms' folder that I created, the phone doesn't care and also includes all the files from the Ringtones folder as well, which I don't want because I have MANY Ringtones but only about 10 Alarm sound files.
Shouldn't the phone's ALARM Function only choose sound files from the 'Alarm' folders? (whether Stock folder and or user created folder)?
Is there a way to coax the phone into operating logically when it comes to segregation of Alarm sound files (without root)?

[Q] Notifications, Alarms and Ringtones

I'm trying to set up custom notifications (e.g., in Gmail, Hangouts, etc.) and alarm tones (i.e., for my morning wake up call).
In the root of the internal sd, there are the following folders:
/Alarms
/Notifications
/Ringtones
No matter which of these folders I put the mp3 files into, they will *all* show up only as an option for a call ringtone. Not for alarms, not for notification alerts - just call ringtones.
What am I doing wrong?
For now, I am using Rings Extended to select it, but surely there's an easier way that involves using these stock folders...?!

Creating ring and notification tones?

Hey fellas,
I want to be able to use my own personal audio files as ring tones and notification tones. How can I do that?

Click to collapse
They're two folders on your phone. "Notification" and "Ringtones". Put audio files in the notification folders for the notification tones and audio files in the ringtones folder for ringtones. Then you should be able to see them in the list when changing your tones either in system and individual apps.
Thanks, bro! It worked!
