Hi
I'm hoping someone can help me with this problem that seems to be just my HD. Maybe it's my music, but that's what I'm here to find out.
Whilst playing a song in the music tab, after a minute or so it just stops, the play/pause button is playing yet there is no sound and the progress bar doesn't move. It will only resume again after I hit pause and then play and even then the song just begins again. This happens no matter what ROM I am using. Miri, Dutty and PhamQuang roms all do the same.
Thanks for looking, I hope you can help.
Hi,
Also facing this problems, after about 43 seconds the music just stops.
It also stops when you press the standby button.
Please help!
It's supposed to stop when you press the power button, although there is a registry tweak to prevent this from happening.
TF3D2.5 has problems playing my non-Lame encoded MP3s and also stops other mp3s playing properly.
Could using wma music help? I will test this out and get back with the results
solution works for me

Was doing some fiddling last night (as mentioned in another thread) and it, for me at least, appeared to be a problem with the program a mp3 was compressed with.
All my lame mp3s work fine but as soon as I copy one which dbpoweramp says was compressed with FHG all mp3s stop after a few seconds.

Thanks a lot,
It works for me: I reencode all my music with dbpoweramp with lame codec and I don't have anymore the issue.
Great thanks.
Yay. Glad it's working now Pain having to re-encode mp3s though.
can someone please post the registry tweak to prevent music player to stop in standby!thanks!
Hey Guys, i had the same problem.
I just used resco explorer. Selected all files in the MP3 folder and removed the readonly. It worked like a charm. Try this out and lemme know if it worked.
Good Luck!

if this works you will be my hero of the day
edit: the read only is checked clear after tapping it gets empty but then after reopen its checked clear again?!
what does this mean?
-> music still stops playing
would be grateful for further help
Hello,
I too have been experiencing my 8Gb of music stopping when used with WM6.5 ROMs. Ripped using Windows media 11 (not Lame encoded).
I noticed that when starting to play an MP3, in the top left corner of the screen, next to the CD icon, was a spinning disc. When this disc stopped spinning, the music stopped playing.
My solution was switch on wifi (connected). Press Menu. Press Update Album Art. Press Current Song. The top right of the screen says Link to Gracenote. After some seconds an album cover will appear and the spinning disc will stop. I only needed to update one album and the problem stopped on all MP3s.
Nothing to lose,,,give it a try.
PS. I use a little mortscript to modify the following registry entry that allows me to turn off the screen without headphones connected.
HKLM\System\State\Hardware\Headset = 1

Mate,
I forgot to mention the other part.
Ok try the below steps.
1) Copy all MP3 files into ONE folder. You should not use multiple folders.
2) Now in resco explorer, go to MENU -> EDIT -> SELECT ALL
3) Once all MP3 songs are selected, again go to MENU -> FILE -> PROPERTIES.
4) Now disable all checkboxes like read only, archive, hidden and system files.
5) Then select DONE.
Now you should be good to go.
Note: DO NOT SELECT THE MP3 FOLDER TO MODIFY THE READ ONLY. Even if you uncheck the read only attribute for the folder, it will show as read only if you look at the properties again. Change the attribute of MP3 files and it should work.
I use a 16GB class 6 SD card and it works great for me.
I had already opened a thread to discuss the issue.
You might find more info here as well.

Sorry to hear that it dint work. I completely understand your frustration coz i was one few days back.
Did u check the attributes of the MP3 files again after removing read only?
Do you face this problem in other audio players like, WMP, S2P as well? I never faced problems in other players.
Since the previous solution dint work, lets try something else.
Remove all ur MP3s in the folder. Just add 10 MP3s first. Try the steps I had given in my previous post. now after removing the read only for the 10 MP3s, try playing them to see if it works. If it does add another 20 MP3s.
You can also try to remove the read only by connecting ur SD card to a computer.
If you still face issues, format your SD card with default allocation size. Try loading the files into one folder and remove the read only attribute for all the files.
I am no techie guy.. if you ask me how it worked for me, i am absolutely clueless.
first thanks for your help!
in windows media player all the files worked without errors.
just copied some mp3 files from sd card to my device and even then with the manila player they stop!
going to flash a new rom and sd is getting formated right now.
because the touch hd is my mp3 device this is really annoying!
no problems before flashing manila 2.5...

Ok. If it does not work even from phone memory, then something else is wrong.
Try energy rom pheonix with Sense 2.1. I think that might work..
flashed to xanny evo 1.5b and what should i say
transfered a fex album with wmp ( fast disc tranfser mode) and tried to listen - stopped after seconds.
then I put these mp3´s ( about 40 not sure) in one folder and put wifi on and updated all album arts.
after that the circle next to music went away and it works so far !
hell yeah
my joy didnot last very long - going to through my hd out of the window and get a motorola milestone just dreaming
Same issue fixed for me
Hi guys,
I had the same or similar issue with the Sense 2.5 included in my ROM.
I my case the issue was caused by the all versions of Manila 2.1 and 2.5 that created files named "AlbumArt_{937436F0-A712-496E-B610-48576D832D91}_Large.jpg" or "HTCAlbumArt.jpg" in the subfolders. I have of folder for each artist and different folders for each of their albums.
To resolve the issue I've only removed all the *.jpg file except the folder.jpg (256*256 pixels). After a soft reset, the HTC Audio Player recreated his own *.jpg named ~HTC_AlbumTitle.jpg. The only thing I don't know is if the name is linked with Sense 2.5 or Dutty's ROM.
I hope It will help someone else.
Re-encoding in LAME worked a treat for me, Thanks a bunch
I flashed this new rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=603741
This has the new dump from Leo 2.01 and a new Sense, not sure the number, but I am able to play any of my audio files with no other manipluation. Not sure is this is the this particular Sense Build, or Leo dump, or the cook. But I no longer have the stopping after a few seconds issue.
Havin a real weird problem with my music player, need some help.
I've put my ringtones and notifications in all the different locations that the media player is supposed to ignore, though not all at the same time
/sdcard/ringtones
/sdcard/media/audio/ringtones
/sdcard/sd/ringtones
/sdcard/sd/media/ringtones
etc, same for notifications
No matter where I place them, though the media player still is picking them up. I would put a .nomedia in the folder, but prevents them from showing in the ringtone/notification lists in Settings.
Is there any way to stop this from happening? I first noticed this behavior after rooting, but would just installing SU and busybox really cause music player to read these folders that are supposedly hidden to it?
This is driving me nuts when I'm listening to music and suddenly my ringtone starts playing and I think I'm getting a call!
Thanks.

this problem has been driving me nuts too. but you putting it into words just gave me an idea, try the no media thing, so it prevents them from showing up in the settings lists, but then try going "oldschool" (lol) and using rings extended from the market. it was an app first released for the g1 to see and select ringtones on the sd card that the settings lists weren't picking up.
00000
where exactly did you put the .nomedia? and what kind of file was it? or was it the name of a file or folder?
i'm down to help figure this one out ucz this music player is starting to piss me off with it's badass look yet completely lacking in options.
ps: another good feature of the stock android music player was that if you hit the context menu while a song was playing, it had a "delete" option. this was great for someone like me who dumped tons of new music i just wanted to have on the phone, and when i party shuffled, i could be like, "WTF is this unworthy for mobile listening sh!t? *delete". haha miss that option so...
yep...this is bugging me too...i just download a game and all the SFX shows on my albums list...and the ringtones that i have download from zedge...however a easy solution for me is was creating playlists...i really like this phone and it getting better and better...specially now that i found out that there's a equalizer in the music player...excellent.
Hopefully there will be solutions for this little bugs...i'm still keeping my phone the way it is.
Playlists works too, except I have like 3gb of music on my card, it takes a long time to go through and individually add all the songs to a playlist.
I found out that the music player ignores .mid files, so I just renamed all my .mp3 files to .mid. Phone still picks them up for use as ringtones/notifications.
I tried both a .nomedia file (just create a new file on your computer named whatever.nomedia, copy it to your phone and use Astro or Files to rename it to .nomedia) and naming the folder .media, but in both cases none of the ringtone files showed up in the ringtones list.

thanks for the .mid tip. hoping something more substantial comes up, as i have tons of my own ringtones i made haha. let's keep on this as it could be included in a custom rom hopefully
Ive been using my phone connected to usb for listening to music on car stereo it unmounts storage to do that. But when i unplug i never get my ringtone back it plays a random song in my music folder unless i go back and change ringtone manually and when i do theres not one selected. Anyone seen or have solution? it shocked me the other day ringing with explicit lyrics lol.
i had a similar problem with my Galaxy S. after having it connected to my PC in usb mass storage mode, i would lose my custom ringtone EVERYTIME after disconnecting. bloody annoying and i was kinda hoping this wouldnt be a issue with the Atrix. but anyways how i fixed it with the galaxy S was after unmounting from USB the key was to not to forget to run the Media Scanner. i used a app called rescan media ROOT from the android market to do this. you can also reboot to kick in the media scanner but that is a pain. HTH, i dont know if any of this is relevant to the Atrix. i will hopefully find out tomorrow when mine arrives
I'm going to take a guess here, since I have a WinMo and not an Android phone, but when you do anything that mounts the SD card or internal storage, nothing else can mount it, so the system has to unmount it. So on my phone if I mount the SD card to copy some files, I can't listen to music using the phone's music player if that music is also on the SD card.
tl;dr - if the ringtone was on the SD card, the system has to change it when the SD card is mounted by something else.
Has this problem been solved or just forgotten. It is very annoying. I am running Gingerblur 4.5 on a rooted Atrix and I have this same problem where the USB notification seems to pick a random song to play upon connection instead of the default ringer tone. The only way I have found to stop it is to delete the song from my SD card, reboot, then paste the song back to my SD card. WTF? There has to be a better solution. On the same note; where is the default tone? You know... its the default ringer tone that plays when no sound is selected. ie. set a ringtone then delete that file and the phone picks the default tone, but it isn't identified in the Sound menu.
Thanks!
na just forgotten havent figured it out. Just havent been hooking my phone up to anything but charger recently.
I ended up getting it around it....
I copy the custom ring tones and sounds I want to use straight to the system/media/audio folder.
You need to be rooted to do this.
I use file explorer and change the permissions from RO to RW so I can copy in the audio files. I then change them back to RW.
ill have to try that then. thanks
Why hasn't Google implemented a fix for this? How hard can it be?
Its the most annoying thing, and one feature of Android I don't like.
My N900 would dismount its storage when plugged into usb, but this was never a problem as it converted the MP3 ringtone chosen into a shortened WAV file and stored it locally.
I remounted the /system directory read/write and copied the files there:
#mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mmcblk0p12 /system
Then copy your ringtones to /system/media/audio
*edit just noticed someone else did this. This is a different way to do it.
I had enabled the option to "exclude from media scan" various folders including the music folder, thinking this would stop album artwork from appearing in gallery.
I've now reverted back after realizing google music player is not recognizing the music folder. But this to no avail.
I've rebooted numerous times. I've taken out the SDcard and reinserted it but nothings working.
I've searched the market thinking an upgrade might solve the issue but no more google music player is on the market.
I've installed Player Pro, same story.. Not working.
But PowerAmp works! It can see music from folders but not from library.
I just switched from HyperdroidGBX to HyperdroidCM7. I don't know if I have done something wrong but any ideas on matter would be appreciated.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE: I just did a wipe data/factory reset and reinstalled the rom and it's still not updating the music folder!
Can someone please tell me whats going on?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE: FIXED!
I just found a ".nomedia" file in the music folder. Guess what I did with that.. OK I will stop talking to myself now. But now you know what to do if this happens to you search engine person.
I need an app that will allow me to play music from external hdd. Tried clear.fi, music, and winamp and none of them will let me set my music folder to the external hdd location. They all default to sdcard. Any ideas?
Edit: 5 more minutes of searching and i found music folder player and it works like a charm.

You should try TTPOD player.
You can also give MortPlayer (https://market.android.com/details?id=de.stohelit.folderplayer&feature=search_result) or Music Folder Player Free (https://market.android.com/details?id=de.zorillasoft.musicfolderplayer&feature=search_result) a try. I use both on my tablet.
You could just make a symlink, too.
ln -s /path/to/target /path/to/link
Using ttpod now and it is beast

This would be really helpful for me, but I can't seem to get it to work. Here's what I did. I deleted the Music folder from my internal storage (it was empty anyway) so I could make a symlink to the same path pointing from my external hard drive, that way Hive Player will see my music. That's my theory, anyway.
In Terminal Emulator, I typed "ln -s /mnt/sda1/Music /mnt/sdcard/Music" and I got an error "Link failed Function not implemented" so I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong. My ROM is Taboonay 2.1b with richardtrip's kernel and the external drive is NTFS formatted.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm comfortable editing system files if that's what I need to do.
I would think its because you deleted music folder. It cant make a symlink to something that doesnt exist. I may be wrong though
Sent from my A500
no, before deleting the folder, I got an error that it already exists. Should have mentioned that. I think it may be something to do with trying to symlink between different storage devices, but I could be wrong
Definitely MortPlayer... It will actually search for your music, even if it's moved.

well I paid for Hive Player so it would be nice to use I actually emailed the developer and he told me folder support will be coming soon, so that's good to know
