Rom compare request - Touch Cruise ROM Development

I would do this myself but i can't bother flashing roms as i need my phone for my daily use, i want to know the difference between all the available roms currently, for example what sys / driver / radio / tweaks they are using, to help me choose a rom for my next flash.

man, how silly do you think ppl are,
to flash and test (all) available ROMs for you just to save YOU the pain to test and compare yourself?
Do you really think others do not use their phones also but just flashing and playing around? just my 2 cents
You really made my day
Olioaglio

many of the ppl here have already tried all the rom plus most the details you can get from the cooks themselves who said anything about testing themselves....all im asking is the difference like the sys file are from what rom etc..
don't take my idea wrong its to benefit anyone who might want to try a different ROM.

well...i want a good rom....plz suggest me a few...i will now mention what i need in my phone....so plz..be patient
i need
Windows Mobile OS Rom(preferably The Latest 6.1 cause its the stable one around....i dont know about 6.5 is it any good..?)
can i have the cube application in the Diamond......it would look cool to use it...
Mobile Office,Pdf Reader, yahoo messenger,a nice all in one media player..(like vlc on pc platform....it plays everything i throw at it...i just love it..)
i would also like to have the Htc Touch Viva Blue Theme.....i dont Know what its called but i saw it on my friend phone and it was pleasent...
Hey, u know that your phone can brick, right?
You really should read a lot about flashing before doing it.
Start >here<
After that proceed here
If you read everything carefully and want to flash a new ROM be shure to
do it step by step as it's suggested.
And I guess you have read it quite often, but you have to find your own ROM.
Try some and then decide which to use. It's most satisfying^^
And yes, 6.1 is more stable than 6.5 for now so you should take a 6.1 ROM.
But have a look at these two ROMs. I have tryed them both besides many other and I used the A.Z.T.O.R. series for a long time -> very stable and really fast! Will use it again when X3 will be released I don't know if they fit all of your personal needs, but especially for some special theme or so on you should search the Thread you posted this request
A.Z.T.O.R.
udK Syrius
Good luck!
PS.: Please use a topic that contains some more information next time
oh dang i could only get to the first sentence because i have cdma
Thanks for the reply marcel .....i know that i am risking it...but hey...better to die than live a coward all my life ....i want to go thru this...
and okay nxt time i will name the thread more appealingly....
I would recommend two options. You can use Cloudy 1.1 with and without Manila. I have tried both. The WITH Manila has the TF3D with it which is very nice. However, my preference is WITHOUT Manila and then add SPB Mobile Shell 3.0. This is more user friendly.
Both options are very fast and with lots of free ram (more than 50Mb)...
I am not sure if these work with CDMA - please check first.
By the way, I think there is so much great help on these sites (and PPC Geeks) that you will always find a way to get your phone looking and feeling the way you like.
Good luck!
Oops...!!!
Sorry i forgot to mention..the Diamond i right now have was flashed earlier...so right now its having a custom rom by diamond project team....well i am looking for a move basic rom.....which is almost or most likely official rom...
if you want a official rom you can visit HTC.com and download the latest official rom that have been released. whether or not you can use the custom spl without doing any harm i have no idea about since i do not know anything about roms and flashing i just know that HTC has official roms on their site
I think u can download ROMs from HTC if u own an original-HTC device, right?
I wasn't able to download their ROMs because I bought my Diamond from a German reseller
-> Same phone, nearly the same look but an unsupported IMEI (?)
And again I can propose an A.Z.T.O.R. ROM^^
Alpha Zero Tweaked Official Roms = A.Z.T.O.R.
And as your phone was flashed before you should have no probs flashing a new ROM^^ So try some and then choose
The Whole Story!!!
Actually The Diamond i Right now have was bought off the gray market..it was actually a orange network locked phone...so the phone is right now unlocked, gray market product....
Okie....i will take a look at AZTOR..
Ahem...

how to make my tp2 run faster after install a custom room ?

hello, please please anybody can help me to make my tp2 perform much more faster? everytime i do the soft reset, the memory only 40%, but after few minutes its auto raise up to 77-83%. My phone starts run really really slow, that's making me feel bad and weird. is That because of the new room i installed ? or i did something wrong ? , Please anybody have a software or something to make my phone run faster ? .
It's touch pro 2 from tmobile, running energy room.
if there is no way , is there anyway can i install a stock room from tmobile? i really want the stock room back ..... it's seem runing a little bit faster than the new room i installed .......
Thank You in advance.
Hi billdang21,
I have flashed quite a few ROMs including several of the Energy ROMs by NRG. I have noticed different performance on my phone with each ROM I installed. There are several variations of the Energy ROMs and they all seem to have a very polished interface with nice icons as well as some of the latest versions of TouchFLO/Manila. However, NRG does state that some of his ROMs containing the latest Manila are unstable and to "expect many bugs". I suggest that you try flashing some of his other ROMs to see if they work better for you. Additionally, there are other chefs and ROMs out there and each one is unique and will have different features, applications and performance. You may need to flash several different ROMs before you find one that works for you. I really like the look and feel of the Energy ROM but I am currently using At0mAng's Fusion ROM because it was the most stable for me and gave a good balance between OEM look/feel and performs well. I think you should try flashing several different ROMs before going back to the stock ROM, but if you still want to re-install the T-Mobile ROM, you can find it here:

To flash or not to flash - that is the question

Hi chefs and gourmets,
I'd appreciate a totally frank answer to a simple question.
I have the stock WWE 1.66 ROM. I don't have major problems, just occasional hangs/freezes caused by bad apps, and I have to clean the RAM quite a bit when I have several apps running. But generally, the phone is stable and fast enough.
So, if I flashed a cooked ROM - say the Co0kie Energy ROM, which is very popular - would I notice such a difference in speed and stability that it'd be worth the day it would take me (a newbie) to flash and reinstall all my apps?
For a small, not really noticeable difference, I can't see the point. But for a 'new phone' experience, a huge jump in speed and stability, I guess I might give it a go.
I know it's hard to generalize, but if possible I'd like a rough idea of whether it's worth it.
Thanks,
David
for me (and quite a few others) the speed jump and stability are massively better than the stock roms our phones came with. However if you are happy with the speed and stability of your phone and you arent particularly intrested in experimenting in your phone then i maybe you shouldnt.
i was thinking what u are thinking a few weeks ago . could not dicide if it would make that bigger differance. but it does.
the 1st rom i tryed was steve's elegancia rom and i found it alot better than stock. more colour , faster, more stable. lots more options.
if i were you, now knowing what i know now i would change the stock rom.
plus its very easy to do .
i was in the same boat, except in the end i had no choice.
My phone was crashing daily and i eventually ran out of phone storage. So i bit the bullet and flashed the energy cht rom. I wont flash again as i now dont need to.
It is quicker, i compared it alongside a friends stock phone who literally has no apps on it at all and mine is faster. It looks waaaaaaaay better, it has much more storage and for me comes with way better options pre-installed such as swype etc.
As JJbdoggg said though if you are happy with what you already got then there probably is no NEED to flash.
as for installing everything again, lots of cooked roms use the autoinstall feature. put your most commonly used cabs into a folder called autoinstall on the sd card, and the rom installs them when it first runs.
As others have mentioned, most think as you are when they are contemplating this or anything for the first time, but id challenge you to find someone on XDA who has started flashing and all of a sudden stopped.
It becomes addictive because you are always searching for a better setup, faster etc and as it becomes easier for you to do as you become more accustomed, why wouldnt you.
Most have purchased the HD2 as its a tweakers phone, great in standard form but with so much variety in ROMS these days, your litterally a few clicks away of never looking back.
Once you start you wont be able to stop There are just so many varieties, saves you alot of hassles in terms of installing everything via CAB's as its cooked in and there are always newer updates coming out with so many tweaks for the better.
Hi
I find that if you were to flash a custom rom based around wm 6.5, the main improvements would be the updated base os and cooked apps. This can bring added stability and speed, and of course the htc base updates also bring new divers, but there is no sure and fast way to rate this with so many different apps around.
For me the biggest improvement over stock roms is the ability to use a rom based around 6.5.x which in my opinion is far more user friendly than 6.5. All of my apps work great with 6.5.x and is far more finger friendly. Come on HTC give us a official 6.5.x update!!

Seriously, flashing a GOOD rom will make your phone like new. That flash comes with updated software packages, optimized Winmo settings, etc.
Best of luck and happy flashing!
flash it! it always helps, as most custom roms are way better than stock roms!
i've flashed my first custom ROM on my TD2 in september 2009 after using stock ROM for about 2 or 3 weeks... i've tested mostly all available ROMs out there.
then i've bought my HD2 and even did not start it once in delivery condition! i've put in the battery, start bootloader, flash hspl and agian started to test available ROMs for HD2
for me windows mobile is not a platform for use out of the box! but it's my favorite platform due to the possibilities of customisation
I think I'll try other ROMs (than stock) when my warranty has expired. When I read about the hardware problems some people are having with their HD2 I think the risk of losing warranty when those hardware problems occur is too big right now.
Having said that... some of the hardware problems may turn out to be software problems and you could avoid these by using a different ROM...

(assuming you have a regular leo)
dont forget the warranty need only be invalid for ten minutes. You dont have to leave hspl installed once the rom is flashed.
install hspl2 - choose 2.08.hspl
install cooked rom
run hspl2 again - choose 1.66.0000 - thats it, hspl is gone.
thats it, you have a cooked rom, and a valid spl. They wont refuse you for the cooked rom, only if you try sending it back with hspl still installed.
Ok, thanks. But are you sure they will accept a cooked ROM... even if you remove hspl? I guess the hspl is only to give the ROM a specific number then?

no one has reported having it refused except when hspl is installed.
in theory you can make a stock rom look like a cooked rom just using cabs, (in theory, in practice it would be pretty tough) whereas hspl specifically violates the terms of use.
not sure what your last sentence means. hspl simply bypasses region and provider lock checks so the rom will install. once it is installed it doesn't need to be a hacked spl.
Thanks for explaining. I didn't know what exactly hspl does apart from allowing to flash different ROMs (although I used it for someone else's device to flash to a different language just following the instructions on the "how to flash"-topic ).
so what is a good rom
Hi
So what is a good rom
how does one instal it
how do I prepare such an installation
where to find the download of a good rom
thanks
E
it's definitly worth it, even if it takes you some time to restore everything to the way it was befor! In case you become addicted to flashing you'll find a way to easily restore everything each time your flash.
I would never go back to any Stock ROM, only to send my phone back to be repaired!
Just follow the flash guides, it's really easy and takes like 10 minutes (maybe longer the first time because you try to avoid mistakes):
remove SIM and SD cards (!), do a task29, flash radio (optional!), flash ROM, hard-reset, let the phone set up, a second hard-reset, plug-in SIM and SD cards again, restore, done.
Sooner or later we shall all flash the WP7 ROM on our HD2's,so why not start now.

general help new hd2 user.

Hi all .
im a new member but long time reader of these forums.
i have an htc hd2 flash size 512mb..ram size 448..rom 1.72.161.3(82124)wwe radio 2.07.51.22_2.
i was lucky enough to get this handset of a friend who found it to difficult to use (he's iphone now).
as far as i can tell its a vodaphone handset(splash screen when turned on) but must be unlocked because im an orange user.i have in no way flashed anything or tweaked anything.
im loving this handset ,used a friends iphone and got bored in 10minutes of use.i have read alot on flashing roms and radio but to be honest im finding it difficult to understand, not sure what hspl and spl is,and why radio is seperate when flash sometimes?i have searched forums but just need a helping hand to start then im sure i would be fine.
so any help and advice on improving this handset would be greatly appreciated.
many thanks
ok so spl is stock it means the phone is locked so you cant flash custom roms (i think im right lol) hspl means its unlocked (but not sim unlocked) you need hspl to flash a custom rom, its easier now then when i first got my hd2, you can just use hspl 3 now and you just choose from the drop down menu one that ends in hspl,
Radios often don't come with most custom ROM's because the chefs have there roms tested with certain radios for performance wise, I would say every custom ROM will tell you what radio is best advised to use, for there rom, flashing a custom rom will remove everything from you're phone so be sure to save contacts with myphone or pim back up something like that, you should take a read through this thread mate its quite easy once you read it and then read it again just make sure it is quite hard to brick a hd2 or a htc phone unless you havent really read properly but there is plenty of people here if you need help, if you get stuck just ask before you flash better safe than sorry

many thanks for quick reply.
the link u posted sent me to t-mobile version, i thought my handset was normal version the keys at bottom of handset arent coloured green and red .
is it worth going from stock rom to a custom one?
i find the stock ok but does tend to slow up if i dont stay on top of task manager and shut down programs which are still running, even though i did exit out of them.
im reading through forums again trying to understand this flashing option.quite annoyed with myself as i tend to be normally ok at flashing things done it with my tomtom etc.
many thanks for time and patience
hi..
i think im getting there (alot of reading to be sure)
is it actually worth using a custom rom ?
if i decide not to flash a custom rom
can i still apply the tips and tweaks to handset..for example im looking at the landscape.cab will this make all features move to landscape instead of just a few applications?
and any other tweaks i choose from xda vast list.
many thanks for time and patience
search for bsb tweaks. You can use any of them except for the decrease phone sensitivity and tap time.
Also, any tweaks should work on your phone.

I am currently running the stock Rom I have had a few different roms on my HD2 and there all different and good for a lot of different reasons I eventually went back to stock just for a change as I mainly use my phone for work and some Roms still have a few bugs.
I installed cookies home tab (CHT) which is awesome and BSB tweaks and I find thats got my phone working great.
Best thing is even if you try everything you can always go back to start so give it a shot everyone will be glad to help as long as you search for an answer to a problem first
Just think about what you want from your phone and look at what others have done there is a plethora of information here
Enjoy

If you dont plan on flashing to a custom rom, somethings you should look at
co0kie's Home Tab and CHT Editor
Bsb Tweaks
cleanram
Chainfire's 3d driver
data controller
also read tboy2000's thread
for games and some apps, check this site out, i suggest you download the omarket app to make life easier
and also moving the album cache, look for tune4's cab as it saves tonnes of space!
those are the basic few to make sure everything runs nicely...
many thanks for all your help and info.
im just checking if i got things right if you dont mind checking.
my handset is a vodaphone but sim free (im orange)
ive download HSPL3 which i run from pc desktop via usb to htc hd2.
but i have to check spl version by press volume down as well as reset button on back or is it via settings etc?
once hspl is on handset i choose which rom (unless stated otherwise) and run it like a normal rom upgrade .and voila alll done!?
radio is to do with wifi and calls and doesnt need changing unless have to?
many thanks for help again, and i will check out above threads as well.
i think i will get it in the end just a steep learning cure,do i once and know doubt i will be was that all it took.lol
many thanks for time and patience

[Q] Comparison of Custom ROMs

hi All,
can anyone please provide some basic comparison of Custom ROM available for Focus to help me and others to choose as per their requirement.
+1
+1
its awefully hard to compare unless you've actually run different roms , I ran the original Sammy Rainbow DFT rom and im now running the Voluptuary rom , I dont notice a whole lot of differences , this rom says it full unlock , however unless you plan on using the fuctions available it wont really mean anything, I would suggest asking the DFT team or Voluptuary about there roms as to what the difference , look at there OP and it will usually tell you the significant differences between them , these windows roms are nothing compared to Android roms so if you think its like that think again!
