HELP - Connector broken on bottom of XDA II. Can't Charge

This is probably a fairly simple problem for you guys.
The connector on the bottom of my XDA2 appears to have come dislodged.
It has been getting harder and harder to get it to charge recently but with a bit of pressure in one direction it appeared to charge OK.
That is until my GF plugged it in to charge and now its totaly dislodged.
I think the socket has broken free from its soldered terminals into the PCB inside the XDA2.
Is there a quick fix anyone can suggest (I am a qualified Electronic Engineer and can solder) or is there a repair centre (hopefully near Newcastle upon tyne (North East UK).
PLEASE someone HELP!!!!
Tom
i have the same problem, but i got the pin chart from here, and wired a charge hole on the outside. now i can only sync via IR. lot slower that usb. for some reason, the solder wont hold the same plug the way the manufacter did.
good luck.

Pin Diagram for XDA 2 Connector
Where on here can I get pin connector.
Also where can I get tool to unscrew back off XDA2 so I can try and repair myself
Tom
1) use the search function. it's on wiki.xda-developers.com
2) you seem pretty unsure of yourself for a EE qualified engineer. Why, where does one obtain a torx screwdriver? A T6 will do.
We get this alot at work and use these guys. email them on

And no i have nothing to do with them
Possible solution
Hello,
I have the same problem and have managed the following solution to be able to charge the device with "a connector", its working perfect for me:
Note: You will lost some headset-functionality, I have tested that no internal components are affected, because the PIN used for power supply is cutted from the mainboard.
Disasemble the Device completely to have the main circuit board in the hand free from other coponents to be able to solder properly.
Buy a 4-contacts mini-jack connector (2.5mm)
Cut the Power Supply cable Power-Jack to replace it with the Mini-Jack (Image2 and Image4 )
Solder a cable to the 3 last ping of the base connector (Image1)
Cut (with Dremel for example...) one of the connectors of the Jack soldered on the mainboard (Image 3 and Image5)
Solder the cable that comes from the Base connector to the onboard Jack (Image 3 and 5) This is to get positive power from the Jack connector to the right place on the mainboard.
I hope this is enough, if you need more details please let me know.
Regards,
I have the same problem, though I am able to charge my qtek 2020 by putting it in one direction.
I am thinking about soldering a femal mini-usb port using pins 13,20,21,22 for positive power, 16,17,18 for ground, and 14,15 for UDC+ and UDC-. Has anyone managed to do this ?
Aw crap. Same thing's just happened to my XDA. The connector at the base has snapped. It's still connected (barely) but charging and data transfer won't work.
Is there any way to replace the connector with a mini-usb port at all or an alternative method that doesn't require me to send my phone out for 3 days?

WANTED, Please Help, Charging connector for XDA 11

can anyone please help, I'm looking for the connector at the base of an XDA 11, as mine is not working, I've been told that the connectors off the ipaq 3800 & 3900 will also work on my XDA 11, so does anyone know were I can get hold of one...........................
go to e bay type in xda and there are lots cheep
Do you mean the whole base unit or the mains charger piece.
RE: connector
Hi wessy123,
If you look at the bottom of the XDA2 there is a connector plug to charge the phone in the dock also to Activesync the pda to your comp, that's the part that I'm looking for as mine is goosed, can you help ? have you got one spare ?
Put XDA on e-bay there are loads of cheap charge/sync cables i buggered mine cost £3 to replace it.
Its not the sync cable he needs, I think he needs an old xda or ipaq 3800 series motherboard so he can desolder the connector and resolder to his own motherboard.
re: connector Plug
The part that I'm looking for is the Connector Plug itself , that's connected to the motherboard, if you look at the bottom of the XDA2 you can see the plug.... inside the plug is a row of very fine connectors , on mine they are broken.
I can sell you charging/synch connector for $20 US
connector by itself so you don't have to use soldering tool to take it off the ipaq motherboard
PM me if interested

XDA II -> XDA IIi motherboard

1. is it posible to replace the XDA II motherboard with XDA IIi ?
2. where I could buy the new(or simply working) motherboard?
preferably in Germany
thanks
XDAIIi board will fit in a XDAII case and vice versa - I have both, one work, one personal. The only problem is the ribbon cable connector for the display unit. On the old type XDAII it is a flat ribbon which slots into a connector (lift the black bar across it to release) while on the XDAIIi there is a plug on the end of the ribbon. Also you will need to cut a small tab from the inside of the black aerial cover to get it to fit properly

Hermes parts for sale?

Anybody got parts for sale? I need the main ribbon cable cable which connects the LCD through the sliding keyboard. I can't buy one anywhere...
thanks

WiFi Antenna/Card replacement

Hi, does anyone know if this little board is the WiFi board itself or only the antenna? It is connected to the main board with a cable and a sticker-antenna in the back cover.
Also anyone know where to get a new one, or replacement?
