E-mail setup does not work on jfv1.5 crb43 US - G1 General

Everytime I try setting up my Yahoo email account on JFv1.5 US version it tells me my username or password is incorrect double checked all info everything is fine does anyone know how to fix this?

I had the same issue with several different builds post 1.5, I just ended up using k-9 mail which is free on the market. Its better imho.

Please search and read forum rules before posting.

Just so you know the email app that is included with the Rogers rom is brilliant, much better than k9 and works unlike the standard 1.5 version.

yahoo imap on froyo 2.2

i flashed froyo 2.2 from modaco kitchen. it works great, but yahoo imap is not working. is giving "wrong user name or password". with cyanogen 5.0.6, i had no problems. any advice? thanks in advance
I was following these settings http://www.htc-club.ro/index.php?showtopic=4092 . it was working before....
I don't use yahoo mail so i can't help you, but the settings on htc-club.ro website are in Romanian. How do you expect people to read them?
i have tried all the settings found on internet.......i dont know why its not working on my N1 and also to my surprise i am getting same error on my X10 also.......

you might be right, but the screenshoots of settings are in english, am I correct? anyway thanks for U-re answer colegu'!
I'm not surprised to read this, the Yahoo! mobile webmail client tells me the username/password is wrong often enough.
If you don't have an account at htc-club.ro the pictures don't show up, just some links.
Anyway, i read somewhere that you need to change your location to Asia Pacific in yahoo mail settings to get it to work. The logic is that Yahoo offers free pop and imap for Asia. I don't know more because i don't use yahoo mail. You could try that.

yes, you right! but in my case I have yahoo mail plus...and I have no problems with yahoo pop3. it works. Imap is not working... I already went back to cyanogen, and yahoo imap it works again. it has to be something in order to enable this function in Froyo...

Hm, too bad. Maybe in the final release it will work.
i hope so! anyway, if I'll find something I will post here.
just download K9 mail app. much better than stock mail.
still not working....
interesting..... i just set mine up right now and it works fine. just type in email addy and pass. and good to go for yahoo mail.
those settings wich you type are for POP 3, not for IMAP......
Were you trying over Wifi or 3G? It would seem that Yahoo has whitelisted most or all of the IP addresses of American cell networks to allow IMAP access. But most other providers are blacklisted and won't work (*except with a special hack of a command that isn't implemented in stock Android but is available in some alternate apps such as MailDroid).
In Canada my provider is not whitelisted so I can't get Yahoo IMAP over either 3G or wifi. So I use MailDroid. It's still a bit kludgy but it gets done the job of notifying me (eventually) of new emails.
I was trying both: WIFI and 3G. I still thing there is a bug, otherwise how can you explain me this: with same settings if I go back to cyanogen 5.0.6 or other 2.1 ROM is working....
I had posted these settings a while back.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=640437
still doesn't works for me on Froyo. It showing "Wrong user name or password". The strange thing is on POP 3 works fine. My location is in UAE, and carrier is Etisalat. I had no problems with 2.1 Eclair; it works both IMAP and POP3.

I have only tested my settings on TmobileUSA. I use to use POP3 I'll try and find those settings.
Also, try K9 email and see if that works. I don't know of anything that was changed in the stock email app that would have caused this to stop working.
I just set mine up........make sure WIFI is off!!
Mine's been working fine as well.
My first though is you were on wifi. Second thought is you're not typing your info in correctly. =P

What are you talking about? He said wp7, not winmo... and anyways, why would you care if he used winmo? People can use what OS they like. I still like winmo... once the sd version comes out I will definite use it sometime. I also like wp7 and android. They all have their strengths and weaknesses.

LMAO!
He is talking about syncing Andoid email app using wp7 settings when he can use android.imap.mail.yahoo.com and android.smtp.mail.yahoo.com. It's not about what OS to use. Besides, this is android section and not winmo.
By the way, why winmo? Because that is what in the attached image. Do you know how to read?

I don't want to use the separate Yahoo app. I have a DesireHD build with the mail widget that can show all email account right there on a screen. And I've tried to use the specific Yahoo IMAP settings that you would find in a Google search but nothing works. The WP7 settings do work. No need to scratch your head bald or search around and try to solve the settings issue to make the Android app get Yahoo mail.

I know what you are doing. It was not me who asked why use the email app and not the yahoo map. I am using that also in my desire/desire hd/glacier/gingerbread builds but with the settings I posted in post #5. I have 4 yahoo mail set up in the htc mail app (except for gingerbread where I used android email app). Same reason as you, I can use the widget.
Sorry dude, you are barking at the wrong tree. I have been using that setting ever since I used android on my HD2, that was, mid last year.

Moving from WM (HTC Sense) to the Atrix, email seems missing

So I'm new having just moved to Android from WM, and have configured all my accounts on the phone (that's 7 email accounts under Accounts), now my problem is simple I see no way to actual see existing messages in the inbox's, when I get a mail it shows up in notifications, but other than the gmail accounts (all 5 of which are available from the gmail app if separately), getting to the yahoo, msn or aol accounts (mostly used of IM, but mail does go to them some times) is just not easy. I really expected more from Android when it comes to email accounts. I've seen programs like Enhanced Email or Pure Messenger in the market place, but before I went and sent money, I thought I'd ask if there was something I'm missing built in or free?
On the same note I'm finding the Widgets that are provided for Google voice, are ugly and others say for email are simply not present at all. All of this is making me miss my HTC Sense interface on WM. However there I'd expect solutions for all of these issue, which is what I'm looking for.
Thanks,
ERIC
You'll find all your emails in the messaging app

I know the app you are suggesting, but so far it always says no emails, yet the gmail app shows well over a hundred, so as far as I can tell its not working, also like to crash on me, so I do not think it is a solution.
Thanks,
ERIC
You can try K9-Mail for an e-mail client. Works amazing for me.

have you configured the email accounts in their respective sections in MESSAGING app as has already been suggested? the app works fine here, so if you are having problems, factory reset and try again. i dont really understand what the problem is. your question originally was how to access them, then when told how to access them you say it's not working. if its not working, start there and figure out WHY its not working......THAT would be your problem, wouldnt it?
not trying to be hostile or funny here, but if you love HTC Sense, you do know there are plenty of androids running HTC sense right?
or you can wait for a HTC Sense ROM
I have five accounts running with no problem. Try a factory reset like someone else suggested.

By default its only set to sync the past 3 days of mail. Go into account settings from the messaging app and bump it up to 30 days. 30 days is the max which is a bummer. On my past win mobile you could tell it to sync all mail.

Exchange/Activesync Email with Email.apk from CM7

This is for everybody looking to get Exchange/Activesync Email working on the Kindle Fire: I pulled the email.apk from CM7 - installs fine and works without any problems.
BTW - is it just me or does Gmail not automatically sync when the KF is turned on and connects to the wifi?
Email.apk and calendar.apk from CM7 attached.
Huge thanks, I was using Touchdown trial version and was loathe to pay for it. It has a couple of nice features but more misses than hits.
I picked up Enhanced Email so far it functions fine at that point in time I grabbed it for 2.99 so it was the cheapest option to get multiple exchange accounts.

See if sync is turned on under Menu>Account>Menu>Account Settings>[email protected]
Mine was off by default. It now syncs whenever I connect to wi-fi.
Yeah I grabbed Enhanced Email while it was free on the Amazon App Store. It works great. I think its all based on the same open source code (its under an Apache license I think) as the Cyanogen email.apk as well.

I can get my godaddy account to work with this but can't seem to get my Work Exchange account to work, keeps saying "unable to open connection to server". I've tried every network setting i can think of. not sure whats going on. I overwrote the existing "kindle" email app, could that be the issue?

Does this email app support HTML emails (reading or sending)?
I didn't see it, but thought I'd double-check.
Thanks
Works well for me. Thank you! Now I can use this for work.
doesnt work for me because im connecting to a corporate exchange that requires a higher level of security. i did try touchdown, which has a problem with activesync not being recognised - does cm7 support activesync on kindle fire?

this is the cm7 email apk which supports all security.
If this does not work, you exchange server will not work with android period.
(and yes: exchange support in android still sucks!)

According to the K-9 Mail GitHub, the attached version should run on 2.1 (I haven't tried it).
Thanks, unfortunately I get an error "There is a problem parsing the package"....

Rats.
Google is your friend. Search for the app with a version number that (according to the Wiki) should run on 2.1
Of course, that's what I did, but you might have more luck. Or (hopefully) someone who is using it will see this thread. There are a number of old threads with app packages attached. A copy might be in one of them. I remember people touting it long ago.
Edit: a search of the forum turned up no old copies of the app for me, but I did run across a post complaining about the wake-lock in K9 and Gmail. If you're not wedded to K9, I use a very simple email app which does not skulk in the background waiting for a connection. That means you have to manually check mail. You might want to take a look at it.

OK, so never say "never". The attached K9 apk file installs on my NST and displays at least the first page I figure that's worth looking at. BTW, on that first page it states that it does not work with Hotmail....
Anyway, give it a whirl.

Thanks!!!
I found an old apk for hotmail and that seems to work (even imports contacts from hotmail)...so I should be all set (re gmail + hotmail)....
Browser (Opera), email (K9 and hotmail), RSS (greader), news (BBC, Engadget,...); readers (kindle; have not tried Google books app yet). a few games (Chess Pro, Landrule, ...), and a few useful utilities (Button Savior, Mathsapp calculator, ...) and the Go Launcher.
Also was a lot of work (finding apk that still work under Android 2.1)....I will probably look into alternative e-readers later this year (such as inkBook Prime and Co)....

Yep, kind of an interesting scavenger hunt at times. There are two packages of apps which might contain something you'd like to try in this thread.
