I want to upgrade my HTC Touch HD on Orange contract to the new windows mobile 6.5. Absolutely terrified in case I Brick it
Can somebody please tell me how to do this.

First off, welcome to XDA.
A dummies guide has already been set up to assist people in flashing roms. If you follow this simple step-by-step guide you'll be fine. If you have any concerns or get stuck at any time, please post your query within the dummy guide thread or alternatively feel free to contact myself and I'll assist you to the best of my knowledge (if online).
EDIT
Update - WM6.5 will not be officially released to the HD. Your only way of getting wm6.5 on your HD is to flash a cooked rom with wm6.5 on it. Again, use dummies guide to flash rom and you'll be fine.

Help with New HTC Touch HD

Recently downloaded the package from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=562952
I love the design and all, im new to this forum, my friend introduce to me here.. anyways im just wondering if anyone mind explaining how i could do this and upgrade my Brand New HTC Touch HD to this package i downloaded from that link above? my current Version OS is WM 6.1 do i have to update to some kind of WM 6.5 Before i can flash this Rom onto my mobile or wat? or can i already just flash it straight from WM 6.1 straight to this File?
can anyone help me with this...?

Everything you need is contained within the site, all the info you need to successfully flash your fone, add useful apps and tweak away to your hearts content.
Can I respectfully suggest you take some time to research and digest the info you need, starting with the Wiki here . .

i recommend u sit down and take a look at at the different threads. look for the things u may want or even like to know about any questions u hav first search for it because it may hav already been asked about before u post the question

I am completely confused... I want upgrade my HTC Viva to wm6.5, but all the forum of Rom have many issues.. i am not able to understand which Rom to install..
can anybody help me out...

these roms id say are not worth experimenting...for windows mobile 6.5 there are no need of certain applications like htc notifications and htc volume changer<tht doesnt work> i simply dont know why in roms they are there....if they made a rom clean of those ill be more than glad to experiment

It's been long i have not posted in XDA, i have just purchase the New VIVA and i am quiet interested to know, which cooked rom is serving well to VIVA users ?

You can try PDAVIET wm 6.5 rom v25 (just go through the december's 2009 post) I find this one is functioning well in my viva t2223. Just some minor bug, audio manager doesn't work and it drains battery.
Or you can wait and wait and be left out of experimenting...which is the joy to all these moddings...
Moreover, this is not paid site which host only fully finished/bugless softwares, HELP by trying out the roms...mods and report bugs and in return you learn more and more.
Also, post any good softwares/games/themes which you have come across in the appropriate sections. Sharing is the keyword here.

hi there all, i`m new to this forum and am really enjoying reading the wealth of information on this site!!
However, i`m lost. i`ve got to the point wher i know that ive got to install hspl2, but after that all i want to do to my HD2 is put the latest, Non O2 variant onto it. i want to get rid of the current O2 ROM as it`s locked out some features that i find useful, eg wifi router.
as i said i`ve got halfway there by downloading HSPL2, but now just need some further direction and guidance.

i have htc touch hd from orange /uk with wm6.1 and after 1 year using it i want to upgrade the rom to the newer wm 6.5
i cant do it from the htc.com web site
so can any body help me with that ? there is so many pages in this forum so i couldnt find what the best is.

(i use that one and it is faster than 6.1 so start with it,although it is a bit old it is still far better than the others IMO....but hey if you survived with stock 6.1 rom for over a year....then you won't bother with this one being released on 17. November 2010.)
almost all new roms are "1.56" so read the guide for 1.56 roms, if you use anything else your screen will look cyan and all messed up,but don't worry you can prevent it by reading or cure it by flashing the device properly with corresponding uspl/hspl (1.56 in most cases)
you don't need to bother with understanding this above right now,when you rad the guide it will be crystal clear to you
uspl unlocks the device for just one flash
hspl unlocks it forever
if your device is still under warranty i advise you to go for uspl since you won't have to flash SPL (let's say "put the lock back on") to send it for repair (flashing cooked roms voids warranty)
read,learn and search before asking something again (i am 100% sure that all questions you might ask are already answered somewhere in the forums,and if you know how to use search you can find all the answers...if not click one of links in my signature) and if everything fails,ask your question in dedicated thread such as Q&A thread in general htc hd subforum or in the tutorial thread i pointed in first part of the post

The dummies guide thread near top of this forum is a step-by-step guide on how to flash roms. Post all flashing queries in that thread
As for which rom to use, try a few and make your own educated opinion afterwards
