I was wondering if there is a way to enable the autocorrect on Haykuro's newest rom? I already enabled it in the Locale & text but it is still not correcting. Can anyone help with this problem?
If you're talking about the slide out keyboard, you have to either touch the text box or click it with the trackball to make it auto correct. Took me forever to figure this out. Hope this helps.
Um, whatdo you mean touch the text box or click it witht he track ball? What is that gonna do?
Help please
I FLASHED THE HARDSLP AND WHEN THE PHONE REBOOTED IT STAYED AT "T-MOBILE G1" SCREEN!!! I HAVE TRIED THE POWER+HOME SCREEN AND THE CAMERA+POWER. what can i do???
You should go to Haykuro's official thread for bricked phones.
he means,
click your the box where you are typing, and the auto correct will pop up.

Whenever I turn my phone on it shows an empty notification "bubble". Also in the top bar next to the G/3G icon is an extra icon, the one that shows up when you change keyboard input to numbers. It just stays there... Also the lower-left "softkey" turns to Notification instead of the usual Agenda.
I can only get rid of it by opening up a new sms/mms/email, because then the icon for t9/abc/numbers needs to be used, so it sort of refreshes the icon and it goes away when I exit the sms/mms/email.
Now I was just wondering if there's any way to fix this? It's bugging me, although not to a degree at which it would be frustrating, but still... I'd rather not have to go through the above mentioned steps everytime I turn my phone on.
I think it's too minor of a problem for flashing my phone. So, any suggestions on what to do? Thanks!
hi - tap start/ settings in personal tab tap "lock" untick box listed "prompt if device unused for" this sovled for me
Thanks! That worked. I'll leave it like this for the moment, but if there's a way without turning off the lock please let me know.

it's a known bug.
i haven't seen it since i flashed the niki project ROM.
Aww, ok.
Guess there isn't much else to do then. I'll wait for an HTC update.
(Anyone know when WM 6.1 will be here for the touch dual? )

Then Niki Project ROM runs WM6.1. Try it. I have it on my Niki and it's fantastic!
How To Get Rid of The Black Autocomplete Box When Using Hardware Keyboard
To Hide the Autocomplete Box:
1. Type as Normal Until Words Start Appearing
2. Press Menu Button Twice
3. Autocomplete should hide itself
To Bring the Autcomplete Box Back:
1. Press the text field once
2. Should Pop Back up once you start typing
Super thanks to the1wingedangel for figuring it out!

But does anyone know how to get rid of the black word suggestions that pop up underneath the text entry box when your using the full keyboard on the G1? I for the life of my can not figure out what auto correct option to uncheck. The worst part is that its really unpredictable and might show up 1 out of 10 times i start typing with the keyboard.
Thanks guys : )
EDIT: ooops sorry. Over looked the word 'full'
Good question...that started showing up randomly for me a couple of days ago.
Double tapping the text box while your keyboard is open should get rid of it from showing up again.
Hmm good idea uber, will give it a shot next time the thing pops up and let you know how it works out.
That annoyed the hell out of me so much i switched roms. It would auto-replace words that I didn't want replaced.
Alright so I tried the double tap thing and no luck on that front. Didn't work out for me. Anyone else try that fix out?
And I know what you mean CBowley. It might just take a .lib deletion or something to fix tho. Heres to hoping that something comes up : )

Make sure you're doing it before you type anything in the box or it's locked to the ON position. I've done it a few times on my phone right here and it's working like clockwork. :-/
Ah I see so are you saying to double tap before I enter anything in the textbox ever? The problem is that it will show up completely random times like 1 in 10 or something. But I'll try double tapping before entering anything in the field and see if that keeps it at bay.
To turn off auto complete and auto correct:
Menu->settiings->Locale & Text->Touch Input (or whatever KB u r using)->Text Input
From here you can turn on/off all KB/typing features.

Thanks maubig, but those settings don't help change the autocompletion for the full keyboard. VK isn't giving me the problem.
Ok, I seem to have figured out how to kill that annoying text suggestion pop up when using the hardware keyboard. When it pops up, double click menu button. To re-activate it, touch the text box once, then start typing. Seems to work.

Excellent Angel! That worked perfect for me. Did the trick exactly like you said it would. Lets see if it works for other people too. Time to change thread title. Thanks : )
Thanks for this... I despised that stupid black suggestion box.
Hi there just wondering if anyone had/has this problem and knows how to fix it. Basically when i go to reply to a text message by clicking on it (from inside TouchFlo) the keyboard appears, then dissapears. When i click on the box to type, the keyboard comes up, then jumps back down. I have to press the 'Keyboard' button when the keyboard is down (to bring it up) then type somthing (which doesn't appear) and then press space...to even start typing anything. It's really odd, i've tried re-flashing both stock and a few other ROM's...same wierd problem...anyone?
THANKS!
I also have the same problem. If i double tap a message from within touchflo there is no problem but if i tap it once i have the keyboard problem. It has been bugging me for a while as well! Although it's not major, if anyone has a fix it would be much appreciated.
haha it's really annoying the double clicking things doesnt work for me...anyone got a fix? also what rom are you running? thanks
Deleted....
talking to some of my friends, i've realised that this happens on general windows mobile, not just this phone, therefore i will re-post in order to gain more publicity. Thanks
Fortunately for me, everything is working fine, as in the manuals, even after using this set for over a year now. When I click "reply" from within TF, it automatically gives a text/message typing area and a keyboard area at the bottom half which stays there. I can drop the keyboard down (and up) by tapping (once) the keyboard icon at the bottom centre. no problem.
ha! it's lucky for some! What ROM are you using? Thanks

Stock ROM ver: 1.40.707.2 (21259) date 24/10/08
hi just wondering if anyone has managed to fix this, it is getting REALLY annoying now ahha thanks
Ever since flashing the rooted 2.2 update, I can't enter an MSL when I use a dialer code like ##DATA#. It recognizes the code and gives me the View / Edit choices, but when I select Edit, the keypad isn't active and I can't type in the MSL.
I know there was a different Froyo issue with non-Sense ROMs not recognizing the code in the first place, but that's not this.
I really need to put my tweaks back in for 4G, but can't. I won't get too worked up about this till I try it with the final build, whenever the rooted version of that hits.
Anybody else seeing this, or is it just me?

I have the unrooted version and have no issues. Did you tap on the input box? Sometimes you have to tap on the box to bring up the keyboard. If that doesn't work, press and hold menu. That's the keyboard shortcut in Android. Other than that, did you uninstall any built in apps? That could possibly cause a problem, depending on what you took off.
Got it!

Ah - got it.
The problem was, it was putting up a "helpful hint" that said something like "tap the Back-Arrow to close the keyboard". That little dialog had input focus, not the keypad. I had to click the X button on that to get focus to the keypad. It wasn't there in 2.1 so I wasn't used to having to dismiss it.
It doesn't show up now - I guess it was a 1-time hint.

Oh yeah, I remember that now. Totally wasn't paying attention when I did it Friday night to fix my 4G. Glad I could help.
I'm so confused... i was using swype.. it just popped out of nowhere
asked me if i wanted to use it, so i said yes because i really do want swype.. i restarted my phone later that day and now it's gone and i have no idea how to get it back??
If someone could help me out i'd be very happy
It should still be an option in your menu. Open any program that uses the keyboard, then press just to the right of the keyboard icon at the bottom of the screen. The menu will open, and you can select Swype from there.

There's also programs out there to ensure swype remains the default keyboard after a soft reset. Can't remember which one i used but this seems to do the trick:
