In the dream forum where I hail from we have the same layout of forums but all of the hacking/rom work goes in Dream Development, but for Sapphire it seems the forum without "development" is the most used. Would rooting/hacking/rom threads go in the general Sapphire forum or should they be in the Sapphire Development?
I posted the root instructions from haykuro in the devel forum but it almost seems like they might be better suited here and I do not wish to cross post. Can a moderator do a move and leave the shadow topic in place so it shows in both places?

I dont own an Evo yet, but im not new to android. I come here for a friend that is very new to android and I like to help. I understand this is a new phone so many people are flocking to it. But I honestly cant believe how many people are posting things in random places. The development thread looks like the general section. Its hard to even find what im looking for.
I know many mods are on it. But the rules of this site (stating what i said above in a professional manner) need to be stickied on all 5 threads for the time being. Hoping it cuts down on useless threads and cluttering of (personal opinion) the development thread.
I was going to post this in the dev thread, hoping people would read it. But i figured it would be hypocritical since this inst dev related.
Second post on the same topic.
No offence, but I'll stick the other one .

As is usual for XDA there is a lot of great work going on but in my opinion this work is beingde graded by poorly thoughout threads, questions, instuctions and general communication.
Looking through the current andriod threads they are just a mess of information with missing and dead links and very little to help newbies get andriod up and running.
As we are forging ahead now with Andriod I think its time for a specific Andriod section with its own stickies and rom/file repository.
I actually think the current sections are abit misleading anyway, what is the difference between q/a and general? - too much overlap here which tend to fragment information further. The sections should be as follow imo:
1. General discussion
2. Technical help
3. Android ROM development
4. Windows ROM Development
6. Software / personalisation
I kinda agree. the Q&A section is to similar to general discussion.
I agree
Those would be better thread titles as they are more descriptive of the content of each.
I would like if it we could get a mod to occasionally visit the Galaxy S forums.
It is becoming ridiculous the amount of threads popping up in places they just don't belong. The Dev section in particular is the worst. People asking general questions, which may be valid questions but do not belong in the Dev section.
I was in there this morning and someone wants to know if an SD card is required for the phone to work. There is no valid reason for this at all. It pollutes the forum and makes it hard to find real information.
Coming across from the Dream forums where after years people have learnt what goes where and it isn't hard.
If the Mods are to busy maybe we need to start flaming and not answering questions that don't belong in that section until the general population learns.
Sirphunkee is the official Galaxy S forums moderator.
I will soon be joining him in moderating this forum myself, as I've just ordered a couple of these phones.

But then how will the general population learn that flaming is never acceptable, against the rules of XDA, and I will certainly not tolerate it ?
finally! welcome aboard !
Right.
For one thing I am not a spammer, I asked a genuine question to which someone kindly replied, and now I can't read that reply. I had looked through the forum and found some information but wanted to know a little more.
I have never spammed this or any other forum. I have always tried to be constructive in my posts, unlike the many 'we hate se' posts, which quite honestly are a complete joke yet they don't seem to be deleted quite so quickly.
The reply to my post BTW contained a link to information I needed.
I am really dissapointed. I had found this forum and the members to be educational and entertaining, but I doubt I'll be sticking around now to be treated in this way.

Where did u post the original question?
never mind i found it posted in general
now see you say you looked around but i dont think you did as you may have seen the sticky at the top of the page that say please post questions in the Q&A thread.
in the future please put your questions in the correct forum
and while were on the subject
look at the thread you have started
i found
2 identical threads about the car charger fault
a question about hotmail posted in the general section
a question about mp3 distortion in the general section
a question about the stock keyboard and its issue with copilot posted in general section
a useful thread called 2.1 sucks. which was a rollback question posted in general
a thread about aosp rom and hd recording which shouldve been posted in the aosp discussion thread
a question about live wallpapers which is only in the Q&A section because i moved it there
a question about stuttering audio in 2.1 which was in general before i deleted it
then your jit question posted in general
so you clearly dont understand the rules
I'll get straight to the point....
Despite stickys and forum announcements most of us are still finding ourselves becoming terribly, terribly vexed at the amount of [Q]'s cluttering the dev section...
Therefore, from now on, if you do not follow the rules outlined below, you will be infracted. Break them again and you may find yourself unable to post anything at all on any forum!!
[Q]Surely thats a bit harsh aint it??
[A]Not really....
We've tried to be nice about it but that clearly doesnt work.

If you cannot read and abide by the simple rules in this sticky then I dont know how you're going to manage to hack your device without running into trouble.
The Dev section is NOT for asking questions.....
The Dev section is NOT for general topics..........
All threads posted MUST be prefixed with a description of the thread, [ROM] / [Kernel] etc etc.....*
*(Not planning on being particuarly strict on this. You guys (the devs), know how to title a thread.... just a pointer for new devs.)
Basically, unless your thread is to actually release something or discuss something of a very technical and n00b unfriendly nature, it doesnt belong here!
Pretty simple really.....
If you see something that shouldnt be here then PM me....
I will try to check in as reguarly as I can but I have a few sections to keep an eye on and believe it or not, a life outside XDA
Yes thats right, there is life outside XDA
There's a life outside of XDA??
-gets up and walks outside-
