Hello,
I've a problem with the Comm Manager. The problem is that i can't enable or disable the WLAN feature, it appears on "gray" color, so i can't select it. It seems like it that option was not available.
At least I can enable/disable the WIFI from the System -> Settings , wireless LAN configuration, but i would like to enable/disable it from the Comm Manager, like i have done before.
I tried to uninstall all applications since the last time it worked, but ... no results.
If someone has a idea about what i should do to repair this, please help me.
Here is a image with my problem.

As you can see, the WLAN option can not be selected.
Thanks and excuse my bad English.
Are these pictures from you or is it just an example? As these screenshots show activesync connection which will automatically disable wi-fi so what we can see there is perfectly allright...

The pictures are an example, but are just the same i see on my device screen.
So I don't understand, if ActiveSync is running I can't enable WLAN from the Comm Manager window, but i can enable it from the Wireless LAN Settings window. Is that right??
Thank you.
You can enable it, but it will immediately switch off. This is how it works on my device. If you want to use it, you must enable it on computer in AS/WMDC. But I don't see any advantage of it, because you already have internet via AS from computer.
Thank you both,
I will start to reinstall all the uninstalled programs.
if ActiveSync is running I can't enable WLAN from the Comm Manager window!
good! I SEE!

Hello
I just flashed my 9100 with the new ROM and in commmanager, I can't activate ActiveSync (button is "grey")
Has someone already had/solved this problem ?
Tks
Hi, I am looking for this Comm Manager file, can you extract the .exe from the ROM (use Total Commander and copy it out of the /Windows folder) and post it here? thanks!
read the same problem you are having in another ROM, are you sure that you are connected with your dekstop? If you are not, the button is grey sometimes.
The button is grey when I'm connected or not to the PC.
3 buttons (push mail, connect, activeSync) are grey. I can only use the "phone", "bluetooth", "WiFi" and "Vibrate/Normal" buttons but not the other one.
Here is also the "CommManager.exe" program
Have you tried adapting the registry to point to the right files? In the universal upgrading forum there is a thread on which settings to adjust. try a search there and see if it htelps you. I will try the file you attached (thanks for that) tomorrow and see if it works for me.
Any other answer ?
See this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=44091&highlight= for the registry settings used in the Universal to get the new Comm Manager with more options working. perhaps on your Wizard it uses the same settings?
If you connect To your PC, the AS icon becomes available, whenb you connect to gprs/edge, the disconnect data service becomes available and when pushmail is enabled, you can disable with the stop direct push button... works like a charm.
Why would you want a comm manager button to activate either one of these, for it happens automatically when any service requires so.
In the "old"Comm Manager you could also change the AS settings by tapping th AS symbol, even if the device was not connected. Now with the button greyed out, I guess he has to go to start-programs-AS to change them. possible, but not as easy. And it is nice to have all connections under 1 button. That's why I am trying to integrate the new file into my old ROM.
Ok, tried overwriting the old comm manager with the exe provided above, but no dice. The .exe in this thread is only half the size of my current working one. Also, the registry settings I got from the Universal forum don't work, we don't have the necessary keys, so looks like our Comm Manager is working with different keys, I cannot find which ones. The .exe file above just gives: Unable to get comm Manager settings. Perhaps someone can extract and post all the Comm Manager files ( not only the .exe) from their ROM?
For me the important one was ActiveSync. I'm used to lauch it via Comm Manager. And you are right :
- push e-mail is not available (-> OK)
- activeSync is available only if ActiveSync is running
- disconnect data service is available if GPRS is connected (I didn't know what it was, I could'nt test)
So ewerything is running all right. :-D
Thanks
I ran a TMO USA cab for the Comm Manager from an Ext ROM. I found the file on this forum and it is working right. It has the phone button instead of the sound/vibrate button, so that is a small improvement. If only someone could send me the file with also the direct push and gprs button in it, i'd be happy.
In the power settings on the WM side, I can set to "Turn off device if not used for x minutes". When the device turns off, how do you turn it back on?
The only thing that I have been able to figure out, is to use the Shift Control on Vista side to Reset SnapVUE. Am I missing something?
I am running ThaiHugos snapvue+gps rom.
i believe it's auto...
i believe that when you press the button to go to the snapview side it gets swiched on automatically...

That is the first thing that I tried. And the screen remains black. I also tried to press the button to go to the snapview side, and then slide the power button (the same as bringing Vista out of sleep). No go.
Did you try pressing it twice? When the screen powers off, pressing the "Shift" button will shift the device to Vista but the screen will be blank if Vista is not running. Pressing it again shifts it back to SnapVue and the screen should come back again.
At least that is what happens with the stock rom!

Dave
Go to settings -->connections-->USB to PC and check "enable advanced network functionality" for some reason this causes problems with resuming.

Thanks! Works again. But it is a bummer as I cannot use USBTool when this is unchecked.
If someone would make new version of usb-tool that unchecks that setting if it is registrysetting and maybe sets "turn of device if not used" to "never" when usbtool is in use. When querying usbtool to close it would undo those changes. This would not be hard to do after all?

In that case, do let us know when you've done it.

I have done launcer that first sets Enable advanced network functionality unchecked via registry and then launches USBTool. After USBTool Exits my launcher sets Enable advanced network functionality to checked state. I did`nt find this registrykey for device turning off yet. I had to do own launcher because I did`nt know where to get sources for USBTool.
I didn`t find correct settings for that "turn off device if not used"-setting so I just made Power-settings to appear Before and after USBTool is executed so I can check and uncheck it easily when I want to use USBTool. Now it works everytime.

How did you make it appear before and after?
Thanks

Removed the tool for a while..
I withdraw my sarcastic message telling you to make the tool yourself!
This has still one problem.. After rebooting WM side you have to manually go check and uncheck USB to PC setting and after that this works.. Sorry about it
EDIT: It is someway related how the USB-drivers are loaded? After those are once loaded you can switch between them or something, I don`t really know.. But something like this would be nice to get to the next generation of USBTool.
To get this "USB to PC" functionality work there is few registry settings that is changed. First of all there is driver setting that set is the RNDIS or Serial_Class used. Changing this checks and unchecks USB to PC checkbox. This can be found at:
Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\USB\FunctionDrivers
There is DefaultClientDriver what changes between RNDIS and Serial_Class.
Other settings are found at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\Active\ + some number. For USB Driver-settings they change between 50-135(on my machine.. I don`t know about others). For example settings could be found at:
Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\Active\120
If you have unchecked "USB to PC" setting, you should have values:
Code:
BusName: USBFN_1_0, REG_SZ
BusParent: 5543120, REG_DWORD
Hnd: 5544944, REG_DWORD
Key: \Drivers\USB\FunctionDrivers\Serial_Class, REG_SZ
Name: COM8: , REG_SZ
For me those BusParent and Hnd settings are something that I don`t understand. Those values varies each time you check and uncheck USB to PC CheckBox. If this could be found out after that you could start rnaap.exe and rapiclnt.exe with correct parameters and after that USBTool should connect right away. So does anyone know how to know what should be used for BusParent and Hnd values. If those are wrong I get error when connecting to "`USB".
Easier solution would be to just show user this USB to PC -window for first place but it has some bug that it closes at the same second when opened with cplmain.cpl, 28 command.

Only sarcastic thing is that I shared cab which did not do the job actually. It worked for me 15 times but after that I was in trouble again.. but after all device turning off-settings worked fine.
Tried also with IOCTL_UFN_ENUMERATE_AVAILABLE_CLIENTS and IOCTL_UFN_GET_CURRENT_CLIENT. But available clients returns only current client so this was a dead-end too.. I have to give up.
Just a quick question, does the stock ROM have power off after X enabled?
I have disabed power off and have no probems now with any change in battery life (using thaihugo's myself) and just shutdown the screen with the screen switch button. Always comes up then and have no data disconnects.
Just wondered if this should be the norm as never looked at the default setting on the stock ROM.
Who knows how to disable the 3G, so the phone will work only in 2G?

Download and install Advanced Configuration.
Click Menu then select More Settings and then select Comm Manager.
Here you can select what items you want in the comm manager.

Unfortunatley this comm manager tab does nothing on my HD (also reported by other useres).....used to work fine on Diamond etc.
Anyway, the obvious but long way round would be (translated from German ROM): Start>Settings>Phone>Band>GSM

I have the same problem. Any solution?
I get exactly the same problem. After searching maaaaaaany topics and forums it seems that band selection (3g-gsm switch) is managed by bandsel.exe or adminsettings.exe (in windows repertory). On HD you have neither of these. So on HD band selection is managed by another exe ... if someone can figure out witch exe it is, it should be quite easy to patch registry, in order to call this exe in comm manager.
hope you understood (I'm not very comfortable with english).
I have also tried to turn off 3G in the comm manager with no success. I like to turn it off most of the time as it saves battery when not having to search for a 3G signal. Has anyone found a way to disable 3G access on the HD, but leave GRPS enabled?
Try this Start -> Settings -> Phone -> Band -> choose GSM in the upper dropdown menu leave the other on auto.
With this setting you will have gsm and gprs/edge available but no 3G
Hi there, I use quickmenu which is like the best program ever for ppc, but I can't find a way to add a wifi toggle to the quickmenu. Currently I have to go into settings->communications-comm manager and then turn on/off wifi which is very annoying!
Any way to add it to the list?
I use spb panel which does not have the wifi on/off toggle like the today screen.
THANKS!
phone alarm from pocketmax.net will do the tricks.
Or use pdaStatus which is a today plug-in, a screenshot in my post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=459241&page=8
I use SPB Phone Today plugin... has made it ultimately easy! Can toggle all connections from it including bluetooth and wifi.
Try WirelessToday.cab; is shows you your Operator, BT status and WiFi status.
When you touch the today-item it will bring you to the comm manager.
Thanks, but I use the spb panel instead of today screen.
I assigned the left key button to comm manager for easy access.
attached is what you're looking for
I use this one to quick access to Wifi on/off http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442727
check my new application, it is created to automatically control wifi and BT based on where you are. it might help you

Hello all. Recently installed these cab files: Wifi Router and Comm Manager for 3G on/off. After the installation, the Wifi on/off key is now missing in the Comm Manager. I can use the WIFI Router program to turn WIFI on and off. But I prefer to use the Comm Manager because it is easier to reach. What registry changes do I need to make in order to show the WIFI on/off button in the Comm Manager? Thanks
I also had the same problem when I installed the com manager 3g toggle. I posted the problem regarding the US T-Mobile HD2 with that cab.
It replaces the 'wifi' toogle with the 3g toogle. In the non US T-Mobile HD2 it will replace the 'push mail' toogle.
I think you needed to do the extra steps to keep the 'push mail' option BEFORE installing the cab. The registry entries for it may be gone now. (I was lazy and just hard reset to get it back and haven't reinstalled the 3g toogle afterward.)
Click on the 3G tab, not the on off switch, and it brings up the wifi option on a screen by its self.
Not the best way, but it "Works"!!
It works; thanks for the tip. I can live with that for now instead of a hard reset. Much appreciated guys.
