thanks, I've found this as well but it is expecive for me i would like something free, perhaps HTC make the htc sync be able to sync over bluetooth and also when connected trough the sync software to get internet on the device, like active sync does to the wm phones
I agree $39.95 seems remarkably rich for something WM could do natively. Does anyone know of any cheaper (preferably free) alternatives?
To much
Yes that is way to much for sync software that (as is) does not even sync your calendar.
I Hope someone will make a cool app because I´m very dissapointed in the HTC Sync
my old wm phone could get internet acces from active sync, thus saving me money from the data plan, htc sync does only calendar and contact sync, this is the only thing I miss from wm, and the only "-" from android
up for this. I'm looking for this apps as well. Thanks...
I've finally found one. It's MyPhoneExplorer and it's free! It can also sync none Android phones. So great app.
Has anyone found a reliable, free (or cheap) solution for syncing content to their desire?
Ideally I would like to share the SD card via wifi but I know that might not be possible.
Next best option would be an app that runs on the PC (win 7 64 bit) and an android app to sync the content.
Nearest I have found is Missing Sync but they want $40 (£28) for it which is ludicrous!
I have tried searching but not found anything.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Although it doesn't do this over wifi, doubleTwist syncs all that.
For down/uploading files to sd card from/to your pc there is one called web sharing, great app.
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
you could use an ftp server like swiftp on your phone and a client on your pc like filezilla. they're both free btw...
you would have to get yourself an app that rescans the sd card and adds the new files to the music library, but if i'm not mistaken there's a free one for that too
I'm using NextApp WebSharing Media/File Sync to do this. Try the free version first, the full version is $2.99 and honestly is excellent.
Gives the person full access to your SD card through any PC/laptop using WiFi. I transfer movies and files this way daily. All protected.

iTunes Agent is a small program which enables you to synch your iTunes library or single playlists to any storage device. I don't know about videos and images, but it works great with music. Assuming you are using iTunes of course.
/edit: this is only one way though..

Does this work over wifi?
I've been trying to get a program call aFileSync to work.
it syncs through ftp via wifi with many sync options.. (looks good)
but I'm having trouble getting it to connect to my ftp (im not that ftp savy, I'm using filezilla server )
HTC Sync v3.0xxx will do this...currently seems to work and released only for Wildfire. It actually syncs with your iTunes library (one-way only though and sadly on Wifi neither - PC to Desire, don't know about Mac version)...
tunesync is my option of choice, over wifi, syncs selected playlists from itunes automatically when you are on the same network as the pc.
there is a demo on the market too.

I've just given this a go.. it works pretty good.
but it has also reminded me why I hate iTunes, its a pig of thing..
It would be nice if they could make it work with out itunes, it doesn't need to be any over the top, just a simple folder tree of all your artists and albums and check box next to each folder.
I've just found androsync which is similar but it can work from a simple m3u playlist file. I'm going to give it a go now.
and I also have to uninstall iTunes and plethora of other virus like apps it installs with it..

There are quite a few FREE choices out there, but if your willing to spend a few bucks here is what I'm using.
First off you need a Google account.
Then on your Mac, you can sync Contacts into your Google account by going into the Pref's in Contacts and adding your google account.
Next up is iCal, I use BusyCal, it works very well with Mobile Me and the Cloud, can download a fee trial to see, but it does the job to get the iCal info to and from the GS2.
Finally is Media, I've tried several ones and found that the Missing Sync does the best job to sync iTunes Music and Movies as well as a great job to sync iPhoto.
You will have to have NON-DRM music to get it on the GS2, use NoteBurner to strip it.
What I like about The Missing Sync is that I can plug in the GS2 and it will place my new photos or home videos right into iPhoto without me dragging or dropping anything, works like as if it were an iPhone. I installed an app on the GS2 called AutoMount that does what it sounds like, plug in the USB cable and it automounts the SD card, then auto syncs with the missing sync and then auto disconnects and keeps charging, its great.
SyncMate, the free version will do wonders for PIM, the premium one even adds media syncing capabilites.
If you stick with the free version, you can try using doubletwist for media. Alternatively buy Tunesync or a similar app in Android Market and go on using iTunes.
Just get a PC.
Thanx for the information.
How can i put Office and PDF files on the SD card? My iMac does not see the SD card.

You can also try iSyncr, a very nice tool to sync with iTunes.
i am a big android fan, i've had all the iphone until the 4S and when i switched to the GS2 LTE i fell in love with the robot, so its hard to say this but yesturday i went to the windows 8 launch party and i was really impressed with the WP8 ecosystem and i really want to try a Lumia 920 for a month before i decide if i keep my GS3 or sell it.
This is where it will be decided.
Does WP8 have Google integration, will it sync all my calendar, contacts and other google stuff such as bookmark to my phone and keep em synced with my gmail account OTA??
Does WP8 have a was to sync my itunes playlists and keep em synced a little like iSyncr does on Android?? I wish i could crack my dependency off itunes but i have over 350GB of music and 12 years worth of playlists and cant risk switching to another and corrupting my labrary.
Thanks for your answers
wp8 has google integration in a similar way the iphone does. it will sync contacts, calendar, tasks, and email but will not sync bookmarks.
you should be able to import your itunes playlists, but music management is kind of a mess right now, i would install the desktop sync client and see how it works for you.
I switched from Android to WP8 and very happy that I did. My robotic arm has now turned into something more natural.
Calendar, Contacts, Gmail .. All sync seamless.
Tasks and SMS .. I am still looking for a solution, but not a deal breaker for me. I have already backed up my SMS to my Gmail so they are available if I need them.
iTunes .. i purposely never used iTunes, but this might be a good read in your case. A Google search can bring up tools and utilities that you can use to remove DRM from your iTunes purchased music.
Hope this information is helpful. By all means, I am a happy migrator to WP8. There are tons of Apps available in the marketplace so you will likely find an alternative one way or the other.

FYI, a playlist is just a text file, and itunes should be able to export them just fine. If a playlist isn't working, you can manually fix it. Since itunes is particularly stupid you're guaranteed to have a few playlists be messed up, but there's no reason your music itself would get corrupted...
Glad I read this topic since I was wondering the same thing!
hey guys
is there an itunes like app for android devices?
i wish to keep all my devices (laptop, N10, htc) all synced up once a week
not really into cloud storage, and manually copying over files is ok for now, but really wish for a auto sync option..
AW: [Q] itunes
Google music?
I can also recommend doubletwist with airsync extension, wireless sync over WiFi. With an iTunes like desktop application
