i have been searching for ages to cid unlock my touch hd and the best i could find is lokiwiz which is for the htc wizard, how would i go about unlocking my phone so i can update to latest f/w. is it possible

hi i just bought the artemis and apparently its not network locked ( i can put any sim in it) however how do i check if its CID locked or not?
i tried a quick search and found out how to do the unlock but couldnt find out how to just check

i have the MDA 3 from tmobile thats CID unlocked isnt it?
The MDA III is CID Locked by T-Mobile, you will need to run USPL first

I've a new HTC Tytn from Vodafone Portugal that came with WM5 and was thinking to upgrade to WM6 with the original ROM from HTC will this be possible or this phone is locked to the Vodafone rom (CID) ? Is it possible to read the current CID?

You need to flash the HARD-SPL bootloader regardless of your CID status... It helps prevent bricks and also CID unlocks the phone. Please use the search....

Hard spl is not a OS or RADIO Flash. It is the bootloader. It will not effect anything you have saved in your phone.
if that is what you're concerned with.. I'm unaware of a way to read the CID.. Maybe Olipro can chime in on that subject..

TASK 32 will tell you if you're superCID or not and
INFO 2 will tell you the which CID you're locked to (if any).

unless the rom you are trying to install is not made for the wing, then u might run into some problems but if u flash it using a nbh format, wich is how most roms are lately it bypasses the ID check

It's a NBH format. You'll have to run the USPL along with it.
IS there a CID unlock free tool floating around here somewhere? I can't seem to dig anything up. Can do the free carier unlock through TMO, but what about CID unlocking? And perhaps the real question is: "Is there any point to CID unlocking a TMO Wing if you can flash the ROM via NBH-compatible ROM?"

HardSPL and USPL is the way to flash NBH files. What they do is that they bypass the CID check. Think of it as a poor man's CID unlock.

I got an HTC Cruise the other day, and put Hard-SPL right away. I checked the CID with mtty, and it was 00000000, which I suppose means SUPERCID.
Does Hard-SPL make your device automatically SUPERCID? Or HTC Cruise comes with SUPERCID from the beginning? If not, could someone tell me what the original CID for HTC Cruise was?

I can only answer your question half:
HardSPL makes the device SuperCID and it does NOT come SuperCID'd from HTC.
But I do not know the original CID.

actually you can, i unlocked mine and flashed it to wwe and it takes any sim now, i first used olipros software (HSPL) then flashed to generic 1.56 then down graded and its totally unlocked

normal rom update or downgrade will do nothing with simlock....

To sim unlock your device or to security unlock (not the same thing) you will need to use Olipro's unlock tool which can be found here.
HSPL or USPL do not unlock your device. HSPL & USPL allows you to bypass the HTC certificate check and flash unsigned or CID-mismatching roms to your phone.
HSPL is permanent while USPL is a temporary solution.
