When i try to mount my sd card to my laptop it just doesn't stay mounted. Right after i tap mount it dismounts. I had this issue on ALL 1.5 builds. When i connect to any other computer it works perfectly. Any ideas? i tried deleting the drivers and re-installing them several times that doesn't work. I think it maybe an error with my registry or maybe some software i have on here blocking it idk. This GeekSquad agent is officially confused
Registry? What is this nonsense? Are you registered as an offender and the court has mind control software installed on your computer? Best to wipe the thing clean and install Linux, then everything will work.
thats way to much of a hassle dont you think?
reinstaling the computer os to mount a phone? noo
there has to be a better way
but if ur meaning to do a fresh install of everything then formating and starting over will work
but whats prob the problem is that your drivers are conflicting with each other
i wish i could help but try to do a fresh wipe of your phone and see if u can install the drivers on your own...again
dumb question, but this isn't as well known as it probably should be. Does the laptop have usb 2.0 or usb 1.1/1.0? And if it has power saving options, see if it maybe toggles to the slower usb when that's on. I have an issue with usb 2.0 on my motherboard (something's corrupted/broken) and can't use windows with it active, so I can only use usb1.0...and the sd card starts to mount but then errors out.
Hope this helps, that's the only issue I've had and it's only happened on my home desktop, works fine on my wifes pc and my work pc.
the usb port only slows down when its not in use after a certain time
the bios is set up like that
but if ur usb is constantly slowing down you should either update your bios or update your system all together and change some advanced settings to keep the usb running all the time
I had the same issue after upgrading to 1.5 w/ apps2sd. I ended up having to upgrade the driver. Windows will tell you that your using the best driver but you will need the one that you would use for fastboot etc. BTW you can always just use your sd adapter and see if windows can read it that way and if it does your good to go. Also did you recently partition or format the card and how old is it?

Yea the sd card is perfect just bought a pny 8gb sd card $20 , but i have tried upgrading the driver to the fastboot drivers that doesn't help, i installed a clean version of windows on a separate HD and it works fine, so i know it's a software/driver issue on my end
btw all my usb ports are 2.0 guess I'll just use my sd card reader in the mean time hopefully new releases fixes this issue

Hi,
I have a Vario II that i have flashed many's a ROM on to. However i can no longer do so.
I can get as far as the confirmation screen, click Next, the progress bar appears but remains at zero then a few seconds later activesync crashes.
Flashing the ROM then fails (obviously)
Any idea's?
I have tried searching but found nothing helpful.
p.s. i am flashing via USB
I have expirienced this on the PC at my work. Our PC there has a restriction for USB Drives. The ActiveSync detects my device but when starts to flash the connection is cut. Having an error on the RRU that my USB is disconnected or remove.
Maybe you can check your PC if it can detect your device even without ActiveSync. You can go to your control panel and check if there is no undetected hardwares.
BTW, what is the OS of your PC.?
i'm using XP.
I will try to flash my Kaiser... see if that works.
i can flash my Kaiser so no issues with detection etc.
Still the same issue with my Hermes tho.
Any help appreciated.
Use the SD card flashing method. No need activesync/cable. Read wiki : http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_SDCardFlashing
i had considered that but don't have a card reader. They cost pennies these days so i guess, no excuses!
Cheers.

If you still have a working WM, you can install WM5storage and make your phone act as a card reader/usb thumbdrive. You can then format and copy files normally like using a usb card reader/thumbdrive
Thats odd. Do you use the same connector on your kaiser?
Also may i ask what's your HardSPL Version..?
Hi, I need to repair a friends notebook and thinking of using my HD2's 8gb memory card to burn on to it an iso of XP and install that way, is this as easy as this or would I need to do anything else? Essentially just need to make the card be able to boot an installation of XP when my phones plugged in via usb to the notebook,
Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, I did have a quick look but not much came up, thanks for any help!
ive been meaning to test this - be great for my mobile tech support travels, i just havent gotten around to it yet.
I don't hold out much hope, i've yet to find a mobile device that does this, but I keep searching.
Please post back if you try it with results, and ill do likewise (when i get 5 minutes to myself!)
yeah I hope to try properly this week, maybe thursday, if I get chance as time is limited too! My first thing I aim to try is concepts listed from here:
http://www.bootdisk.com/pendrive.htm
It describes a method of fromatting it and perhaps changing the file system structure, will report if any success!
In the meantime, anyone any success accomplishing this?
Done it!!
http://wintoflash.com/home/en/
With this software using the simple mode, select the location of your Windows installation CD and then the memory card of your phone (connected via disk transfer mode not ActiveSync) and set it to run.
Currently now installing XP on my friends notebook using my phones memory card!
nice, i'm planning a Linux net book remix myself.
finally tested booting a PC from the hd2 for myself today, ubuntu netbook remix loaded onto a live sd card, usb to pc set to disk drive mode.
it works a treat, the gf's laptop truly flying along using the hd2 as a bootable usb disk, and i booted by PC to a DOS 6.22 usb drive thru the hd2, hehe.
Gonna be very handy for computer support away from base.
Hi,
I have a strange problem when I try to connect my device to the PC.
After I installed Kies for the first time, the PC recognized my device one time. After I had removed the USB connection, when I try to reconnect the device, the PC did not recognize it.
I tried to reinstall Kies, install drivers without the Kies, I rebooted my PC everytime - nothing worked, it still did not recognized.
The only thing that work is a System Restore which I did on my PC (for before I installed Kies for the first time), but then I got the same problem - for the first time I connected my device after the Kies installation, the PC recognized my device, but after I unplugged and reconncted the USB cabel, the PC did not recognize my device, again.
Meanwhile, my System Checkpoints on my PC where deleted (I guess because of the System Restore), so now I can not go back to square one again.
I tried to find identical problem in the forum, but I did not find one.
My operating system on my PC is Windows XP, 32bit (I do not have access to another operating system, surely not on a daily basis. If it is necessary, I will try to find a computer with another operating system).
The Kies version which I installed is 1.5.3, the most updated as of 31/10/2010, downloaded from the official Samsung website.
I do NOT use LauncherPro, or any other launchers for that matter (I only installed a few popular games, from the market, on my device).
Thank you!
Yuval.
Try removing any media which might be there on your internal sd card. If that doesn't work then try and format the internal sd card. Certain apps like winamp too prevent the phone from connecting to the pc. It sure did work for me. Hope it does for you too.

I did transfer some .mp3 and .wma files from my PC to my "media" folder in my device through Kies in my first (and successful) connection.
However, deleting them (+ reinstallation of Kies + rebooting of both my PC and my device) did not help, and my PC still does not recognize my phone.
How do I format my internal SD card?
Thanks!
if you have any other devices like printers, external hdds, etc connected, remove them and connect your phone.
Go to settings, sd card and phone storage, internal sd card. Unmount internal sd card and then format.

The only devices that are connected to my PC are the screen, mouse and keyboard. Should I remove and reconnect them?
Do you get the usb connection sounds when you connect and disconnect your phone to/from the pc?
It is all OK now .
The problem was two bad USB ports. It took my some time to cosider the posibility that both of them do not work well. Using a third USB port fixed the problem.
For all of you - if the phone uploads the "Kies" screen (the blue one) when connencted, it is probably the USB port or the USB cabel to blame.
Hi
I've been using my Galaxy S as usual but today the phone/computer wont recognize it's connected as mass storage or kies.
There is no option on the phone to mount as it did before , all that pops up on windows 7 is usb drive not recognized
I searched on google and tried various things such as :
-USB debugging on and off
-Removing battery
-Trying different cable
-Trying different computer
-Factory data reset
-Formatting internal SD card
-Switching Laptop on + off/restarting
-Uninstalling/reinstalling drivers + Kies
I use the standard launcher and havent changed anything up to the point when it was working.
Does anybody have any suggestions. Im pretty sure its still in warranty however i purchased new on ebay last year so im not sure how all this warranty stuff works.
Do you use an external sd card? If so try this: put it out, turn phone off and on and try once more to connect

Yeah i think your external sd is ether corrupt or broken. i bet if you leave it out completly the phone gets recognized as it should.
Save your external sd data on pc (if you havent already) wipe your external sd and see if it works
If not you unfortunately have to buy a new one, at best from a different brand.

can odin detect your phone? Maybe you should flash a new rom
sorry cant help much
Did you update your firmware recently? I updated from 2.2 to 2.3.3 and it has a few issues, including not being able to connect as mass storage yesterday (though I had no such issue for the past few weeks).

Firmware was updated to 2.3.3 in may but haven't had any such problem with it until now
After trawling google some post said that they switched on their bluetooth connection and then connected to mass storage and hey presto i did this and all seems to be working again. Seems very strange but for those of you who stumble across this thread.
Switch on your bluetooth and then connect the usb cable.
In my case it connected without issue.
Switched off the bluetooth and tried and it connected without issue...so it could possibly something to do with bluetooth who knows?
Appreciate everyones input thankyou
Hi!
I have the same problem. Windows can't recognize my phone, even in download mode.
I have tried the bluetooth on-off trick, without success. I have no micro-sd card in the phone. I tried on 3 pc, and in my Macbook Pro.
Can someone help me?
Thanks,
David
p.s.: Sorry about my english.
Have you tried with other USB cabel ???? I had problem with my USB and recognizing phone on pc, even with instaling drivers :-( (sorry for bad english)

Also been in this situation. Couple of things I learnt:
1. make sure you have a well charged battery
2. fiddle with the usb connection on the sgs: it gets loose and is not always good, press the cable up and see if the pc gives the usb connnect sound
3. uninstall the existing Samsung drivers and then re-boot, then re-connect the usb and let windows find its own drivers or install the latest Samsung drivers posted here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961956) -- but that guide also says, reboot the computer after installing the drivers prior to trying to connect the usb again. Its a windows thing: you must reboot after either install or uninstall the drivers.
Most probably it should be the USB cable, there is something wrong with your cable/port.
I had the exact same problem. I took my phone back to the dealer where the manager messed with it for half an hour. In the end he got it working by removing the sd card and power cycling the phone 3 times removing the battery each time. Presto, I haven't had the same problem since.

Sometimes a very careful tweak of the pins in the port can help, and it is not unknown for the soldering to be cracked, so both worth checking also a clean with a suitable cleaner can help

I rooted my S4 l702 to the Google Play edition rom i9505. I didn't have any major problems besides wifi not working. This supposedly can be fixed by installing the newest version of agot. I didn't care and never installed because I was using my main device the nexus 5. I went on vacation and deactivated my line go avoid any chance of roaming charges. I come back and reactivate my lines but the Samsung won't reactivate. I'm not too worried because I figure that it's a Problem with my rom. I was going to back up my pictures from my vacation and restore to factory rom. I spent hours trying to get Windows and OSX to 1) recognize the device and 2) let me transfer photos. I tried using android file transfer and Kies on OSX. I then tried using my desktop running windows. I plugged the device in and Microsoft tries installing drivers. I let Microsoft instal drivers and it still won't let me transfer photos. It continues to search for MTP and never finds it. I them uninstalled the drivers and installed the i9505 drivers from samsung. Same thing 2 of the drivers are there but MTP fAils. I then try Kies which is constantly searching or telling me that my device isn't supported. I really don't know how to get my photos and would appreciate any help! Please ask any questions! Also now windows doesn't even try to instal drivers but it still appears under device manager.
Why don't you just install a newer version first? Or if that doesnt work use a different rom/return to stock? Your internal sd won't get wiped.

I thought about that but I with pure android saving to SD cards isn't supported. I thought you had to wipe the phone prior to restoring or instal a new Rom. Thanks for the reply.

Did you try to mount it as PTP (Camera) to get your photos?
When connected to USB, pul down the notification pannel and open "Connected as media device". Then select PTP.
It WILL work.

Yeah, I tried that too. Windows was having problems finding camera drivers or something. I'll try again in the morning and let you know exactly what happens.
No custom recovery will wipe your internal sd card by default. You have to manually select it if you want to wipe your internal sd.
When trying to use OTP windows is stuck looking for ore configured drivers.
