Hi to all,
I have a question....
On Blackstone we have two custom buttons the home button and the back arrow button
now pressing the home button is like go to desktop in normal windows terminology.
But are we able to change the back arrow button to toggle (alt+tab) between applications.
i mean it partially does that when appication are on the screen but it doenst do anything when applications are running in background..like for e.g. say...i have explorer and wmplayer open then i press the home button..they ll be minimized in the taskmgr but back arrow is not usable in this case.
I think that ll make life very eazy for ppl who have bunch of applications running and needs to switch between them...as the taskmgr on the main screen is usually slow responding and again it saves clicks...if u know wat i mean..
thanx to everyone in advance..
Check MobileMagic, you can do that with this tool as far as I remember.

Check out WkTask - it display all running apps on the top bar the way Windows does on the taskbar on the PC! Just tap one of the icons and you switch to that app!
Hi guys ..thanks for the replies...tried both of the softwares ...MobileMagic..is not able to offer taskswitch function...and wktask is gr8 but messes up my keyboard font...its strange..any workaround ? i am using htc full qwerty keyboard.
Just download Spb PocketPlus, install it, go to the installation folder, find the file called AltTab.exe, save it.
You can uninstall P+ then and assign the "Back" button to launch AltTab.exe. But you will need AEButton+
This is how I live with my Touch HD

I guess I remembered it incorrectly, Alt+Tab action does not exist in MobileMagic, it is available in AE Button Plus.
Also there is no need for the AltTab.exe of SPB Pocket Plus, AE Button Plus is enough to accomplish this.
However, AltTab.exe might provide a better user experience, I will try it anyway.
Try TaskFacade!

That's odd... What exactly is getting messed-up? Could you upload a screenshot?
I've never had any problems using WkTask - and I have used it on pretty much every ROM I had on my HD!
BTW: I use the same keyboard you are using... no problems!
I've tried TaskFacade but it crashes on me ALOT and I can't seem to map it very well with AEButton.I wanted to map it to long 'Back' but it never works.
I don't have a HD (yet), so I don't know if this will work for sure...
But I use a little free app called HButton on my XDA Orbit (Artemis?), which allows as many functions as you like on one button (by holding the button down until the required function/app appears).
This also includes a task switcher function.
Worth a try.
Hi Guys thanx for the replies again...
by messed up i mean the text on the htc sip keyboard is like times new roman in normal (not bold tahoma) and it looks ugly...i have tried removing the application and it still is the same...can anyone upload the default font cab
thanx

Hello,
I'm looking for a Task Manager which would allow me to shut down easily running applications without going to the Memory>Running Programs.
What are you using?
Waiting for your feedback.
Thanks.

there is a task switcher in SPB Plust software BUT READ the threads first as it can crash your device if you leave the safe mode utility running..
Hi,
I'm using "Magic button" on my K-JAM, it's light very functionally and free!!
It does not slow down the system and offer to you the ability to choose how many icons to show on the bar (today icon also) or to switch to classic bar simply tapping and hold the x icon.
Before I used wishbar, but due to the incompatibility with WM5 (for now) switched to it and was amazed by the lightness of the prg in memory.
If you want you can try it at www.trancreative.com
Please let me know what do you think about
Update: (from Trancreative site)
Very small foot print (memory usage). Only 71 KB executable file does it all (help file is 8 KB extra).
Cheers

pksmania: if you want very basic functionality, check out my app VJOKButt. It emulates the Ok button (top right), but can be used to close apps instead of minimising them. You don't get a task list menu etc (yet, but eventually I'll incorporate something like this maybe). But assign it to a hardware button and it's much quicker then taking out a stylus just to close an app.

I use vBar..
And I have Safe Mode from SPB PP switched on and it works fine..

I've spent the last few days learning TAPI so that the next version of VJOkButt can be used to replace the red key. Then it will hangup the phone if you're in a call, or otherwise close apps as we do now. So you don't lose a hardware key, you improve it. I hope! Next version hopefully coming quite soon.

Hey Guys, I just recently baught the T-mobile MDA and am looking for the OK/close button freeware mentioned in this review http://www.brighthand.com/default.asp?newsID=12194 Can anyone direct me to where I can find it?
This site is incredible but I'm having a hard time locating this program.
Sounds like they're talking about Smartskey It double duties the soft keys as start and ok/close+more.
Here's a dedicated thread for Smartskey which has download links for the app...

You have to install it in the main memory or in the storage memory and it should start on it's own (provided you have enabled the Auto Start option in its settings. If you install it in the storage card, you will probably need to start it manually.

I use vbar

on my device it all happened automaticly. IF you tap&hold the X or OK in the left top corner of the screen you should see it getting active. tap&hold again ans magic button goes away
I still have not found the perfect task closer/manager. I have used several, but am still searching for the perfect application. The following are my criteria for the idea solution:
1.) Small. This is one of the only applications in main memory for speed/stability, so I want is small
2.) I want the WM5 icons. I like the square X and do not want any extraneous icons for settings (i.e. vbar). Essentially, I do not want to know the application is running.
3.) Task switcher. Ideally, i would tap and hold on the X to get a drop down with all the open apps that I can then switch to.
That is it, nothing extra. All the Wisbar derivatives (vbar, magic button) have extra icons for the settings. The two closest candidates for perfect closer/manager I have come across are wClose by Rui Goncalves and tMan by jasnapaka.com. wClose is only 8k  and uses WM5 icons, but no task switcher. tMan has a great task switcher and is small, but uses a dot instead of WM5 icons. I am currently using wClose. My 2 cents.

yes it is possible!
use PQz:
http://www.nicque.com/PQz/PQzII.htm
Thanks a lot ! it helped me a lot, but I regret that the icon of this application is static on the top menu bar. So I removed the icon from the top menu bar (using the software setup) but there is no way for me to access again the setup except if I remove the software from the registry and re-install it again.
Also, it doesn't make the phone buttons configurable for other applications like games (wich was done, for exemple, by the hack for the re-assignement of the backlight button).
On the other side, this software allows me to launch any software (wich is very good) using the phone buttons, and the size of it is only 180k. And for this size, there are many other functions possible.
So thanks again !
if you have installed pqz by cab you'll find in an program files subdirectory a program called PQzII_Setup.exe if you run this you are enabled to reconfigure it. if you have installed it using a zip file you'll find this file in the samefolder as the PQzII.exe.
I'm gonna try this, thanks again !!!
hey guys i just stumbled into a nice new(launched 1-1-08) program called Pointui it's a skin program for wm5 & wm6 phones. i am running it right now on my wing and i love the damn thing. but don't take my word for it check out what JASON CHEN from Gismondo had to say about it :http://gizmodo.com/339835/pointui-sk...?autoplay=true . btw guys i am in now way whatsoever affiliated to whoever made the program, i've learned so many things about my wing from this site that i just wanted to give everyone a heads up. again the program it totally free with absolutley no hoops to jump through.
btw the program has to be installed through activesync ( just so u know) also the link to the website it at the bottom of the review.

yeah i know sorry i thought i was posting it here but for some reason i posted it under accessories, i just wanna get the word out. i know alot of ppl will like it.
Is it Skinnable?
Can we change the skin?
That Blue is really boring to me...
Great program, i'll test it soom...
So I decided to play around with this for a minute to see how well it works....I'm pretty bored at work. Anyway, i installed pontui home and it works pretty nice. I also installed OTO on touch task and calandar program. Once i did this on my bottom bar where i have my contacts and calandar, the calandar button now says HOME but still activates the calandar. I removed and deleted both programs to see if i could figure it out and it continues to say HOME. I did a soft reset and still nothing. Any ideas?
correction..... The home button actually prompts pontui to start and once activated, if you press the button again it prompts the calander. I want my calander button to prompt the calandar not the program. anyone with experience?
after installing pointui.
hkcu\software\microsoft\today\keys\112
default = calandar
open = \windows\calandar.exe
but then you have to choose point.ui somewhere else on a button or put a link into
\windows\startup
btw - after editing the key -powercycle (3 sec push power and say yes)

i'm running the stock t-mo ruu without the t-mo customizations
and after 5 reboots (to make sure ram use is consistent) i show 4 megs of use (from 16mb down to 12mb) the program works very well but there is room for improvement, ie you cannot shutdown programs only minimize them. one thing i really like is that the weather feature works fine with the 5.99 proxy, there is no need to set it up, it works right off the bat. i suggest you give it a try.
You CAN shut them down, when app is opened, just press the top bar,
there you can choose Force Close, only counterpart is that .Home
goes back to your normal Today-Screen
In thier forum they have a link to download a modified .exe for the app that closes applications instead of minimizing them. Them forum link is here
hello! i hope i'm the first who opened a thread about this:
i don't want to use a taskmanager at top right because there already exists a X-button at the bottom right. but when i use this button, the tasks just run in background and won't close completely... my question is now:
is there any taskmanager for wm 6.5.x which integrates in the bottom taskbar to fully close tasks with the stock X-button? or is there maybe a tweak like bsb where i can change this setting?
thx in advance!

AMeBa can do this, and more. (make sure you install all three cabs that are attached to the first post)
Happy closing
In HTC Task Manager (V. 2.1 Build 1918.3631), there is the option of "Enable the"X" button to end running programs" either by tapping "X" or tapping + holding "X". Not sure whether this works on ALL programs though.

Unfortunately that task manager doesn't run on windows mobile 6.5.x (bottom-bar WM) .
This one does. It doesn't close application by tapping on the x button, but by tap-and-hold the clock in the new windows mobile version.
XTask DO the job !!!
I'm using Xtask, especially XHook.exe, to close all my apps, and it works like a charm.
No installation, it's only an exe, run as service after each reset, do no eat memory.
I've remapped my Close/OK button to XHook.exe (with AEButtonPlus), and now I REALLY close apps.
thank you for your replies. i already discovered xtask and it works fine!
Maybe, it's better set to 'OK Key' (in AE Button plus) command 'Close active application'
I like everything about this ROM and plan to upgrade from the Sept 3rd to Oct 3rd this weekend.
I would like to know about the zoombar and scrolling thru messages from the main screen.
On other builds, I could do this if i was at msg 15, zoombar back to 1 real quick instead of flick flick flick.
Can you maybe fix this and cook into your final copy.
I dont know how many people dont use ms voice command as its one of the first to load for my bt headset and hearing messaging in my ear.
Maybe the concensus could be to cook or not cook it in.
Everything else works beautiful compared to other ROM's i have tried and I also commend you on your work.
I will be changing the battery icon myself as its very hard to read the percentage at a glance.
Thank you for all you do.

If you could read, you would see that I am asking about the zoombar function to be fixed.
Also I would like to use VLingo but it requires a dedicated button to set during configuration and the PPT is not there under the settings/personal/buttons.
I mapped the button using the Ameba settings to Voice command but Vlingo still doesnt work.
