Called up to upgrade phone, and the upgrade staff received an email 2days ago saying that the phone would be available as an upgrade on this date.

If all is true and T-mo UK will launch on the 11th I would suggest that 6.5 will as well. Only for the reason that Carriers would rather sell a WM6.5 equiped phone than a WM6.5 ready phone and deal with rollig out the update.
Only makes sense.
The upgrade staff were surprisingly helpful. I arranged a callback on May 11th to order the phone, I dont even have to remember the date now

MDA Compact V is available from Dutch T-Mobile's website since yesterday. I guess the rest of Europe gets it soon too.
Im currently on a rolling contract with T-mobike UK so this might work out perfect for me!
One question though, what customisations will T-mobile have on the device? In the past didnt they re-do the theme to its all to the t-mobile colours?

If you look at the dutch t-mobile site the colour scheme is pink and black instead of white and black on their version of the Compact V. I would assume that would be the case Europe-wide. I look forward to the deals that will be available on the UK site soon.

The colour scheme doesn't look like the only change they've made to TF3D, the large clock doesn't look like the HTC flippy one and the row of icons visible at the bottom has a couple of wierd looking icons that I can't immediately tell the function of, the email and contacts icons are different and the soft keys seem to be for contacts and internet (no quick access to camera). Not sure I really like the look of what they've done to it, but it will look nice with the regular HTC TF3D look, whenever an SPL or modified RRU solution becomes available.
And for those who don't want to wait for T-Mobile to offer the phone... Carphone Warehouse are offering it on Orange, O2 and T-Mobile as of last week.
i just got off the phone with T-mobile and they said that they do not have any dates for release however the device is on their system. They suggested it will be released in a week or two.
They didnt offer to call me back when its released
Mobiles.co.uk do the device free on a £35 a month tarrif and its a HTC branded device
Judging by the pictures, Tmobile have removed the grey bar at the bottom and they have added some strange gray block on the back.

bambony have you got a link to the image of the tmobile device? I want to see the pink touchflo 3D. Im not overly keen on getting the tmobile unit and then having to mess about with modding it to have the original HTC scheme

The woman only had an email of when it was to be released, not of price, etc. I'll find out in a few days

Windows Phone 7 on HD2 update coming in March?
A Tuesday Twitter update aims to assuage rumors floating around the net regarding an HTC HD2 handset allegedly running the recently announced Windows Phone 7. Believed to originate from Microsoft itself, the Twitter update hints that more information on the handset running on the new OS may arrive sometime in March. WP7 will bring many upgrades compared to its predecessor, WM6.5, including multi-touch support and a Zune-like interface, among many other more modest improvements.
HTC had said last year that the HD2 is its only handset that will qualify for upgrading to the next-generation Windows Mobile operating system. This is likely due to its fast 1GHz CPU and high resolution capacitive touchscreen, both of which are necessary to meet Microsoft's requirements. Any updates won't appear until closer to the end of the year.

There will "apparently" be an "official" message from HTC that is "allegedly" a response to many questions about WM7 being available on the HD2, when it comes out in December. Since HTC have said nothing more than "we're making an announcement in March", it could be anything to do with anything and I think we should just all speculate and assume that the HD2 will have WM7 in March. Ah mate - you beat me to it.
Incidentally, you mention "Microsoft's requirements". You've never read them - ever. They've not been released. There are rumours all over the internet that are as believable as "fake moon landings" and Bush planning 911.
It's this simple. A WP7S phone must have 3 and only 3 buttons. Any phone with more or less than 3 does not qualify as a WP7S phone and so will never get an official WP7S software upgrade.
Count the buttons on the HD2.

Put a sticker on 2 buttons with note "don't touch this" and HD2 will not have more or less than 3 buttons How simple it that
Two buttons will not be used by firmware, that's all. Another point is if the update will be delivered There are so many rumors, let's wait till the end of the month and we will know for sure

Not true? The LG device shown on the Engadget show last Saturday had the 3 required buttons + a camera button, volume control buttons and a power button.
The requirement is to have AT LEAST these 3 buttons: Back, Windows (home, whatever) and Search. You can add whatever you want to that.

As for the the button debacle, I'd like to think it it 'at least 3 buttons' (being start, back and search) but it is probably 'only 3 front facing buttons'. This is to probably give all Windows Phones a distinctive, unified look.

It's not as if these new 2.1 ROMs up on this board are totally useless.
These new builds are stable enough for everyday use and aren't that different than what the official 2.1 will provide.
The jump we've made in just the last week is far bigger than the difference that the official ROM is going to give us.

Actually, none of the issues that are bugging me with DC are rumored to be fixed in the official update anyway, as far as I've heard.
I could get excited about it if they fix Gmail or have live wallpapers working with Sense, though.
It specifically says tentatively April 9 which means that could change. I am sure they are still running tests and when its good, which they hope by April 9, then it will be released.
If you read more than just "Hero" and "Update" on the picture you linked...
It says
"Unable to download picture notifications.
HTC HERO
Fix will be part of the maintenance release scheduled for 04/19/10. Tickets are not needed for these picture mail issues."
Pay attention and stop posting random dumbness..

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of what this could be, and is no way random dumbness.
I firmly believe this is not 2.1, but the only way to find out is to wait until 4/9.

i agree with you but also it does clearly state what it fixes. so idk im iffy to get my hopes up. i dont think it is 2.1
that document contained errors and had been revised. The official word is still coming soon... the version must go thru testing no need in releasing it only to have to issue another update after a week or so right

Something like the Tosh K01 would be good but sadly (and i do mean that) running Android instead of Winmo. I don't want to keep throwing money away by buying WinMo apps.
I also hope the K01 specs on PDADB are out of date as it only has a 3.2mp camera and no HD capture (obviously). It does however have a 4.1" screen and a qwerty keyboard! YAY!

A very good friend of mine ownes a tmobile store and he did say a 2 gig phone is coming that is going to have a slide keypad but was not sure about android or windows!
Well if this phone is European it wont be sold running Windows Phone 7 till October 15th and in the US till mid November, One of my friends is the Head PM for Windows Phone 7 I confirmed the release dates the other day

No,i will be in Pune on 17th,then to Mumbai with 1 of my friend.
Both of us are going for SGS 2,as per now the dealer has confirmed 1.2Ghz+Super Amoled Plus version.But the final price he is saying might go to Rs 32,000 also but then as two of us are going for it,we are quite confident of the deal for Rs 30,000
I would appreciate it if you would post some pics after the purchase. Ill take a trip down to Mumbai as well.
Well don't get your hopes up, because lots of people get fooled by phone resellers... I'm not saying you won't get your phone by Monday, but don't be too disappointed when you don't, because you probably won't

my thoughts exactly. a big authorized retailer would not risk the reputation and the relationship with Samsung by selling a phone [under the table?] prior to the official release date. But I have never been to India, may be it is standard practice there

Let's see,it's the same shop from where i got my N1 back in March 2010.
Mumbai & Delhi in India are the two cities where you can get almost all the latest GSM Smartphones.

Not really comparable. Nexus One was already available as from January 2010 in some countries, so maybe it was an import model I don't know...
Here we're talking about a phone which hasn't been released anywhere worldwide.

I Hope so too!! I am from India too and right now waiting for the S2. It would be great news for all those who are waiting to buy it in India! Do post some pics! it would be nice too finally see the pics of the Samsung Logo on the front
Well, about that video. Damn that screen is nice!! I have been waiting for a vid to really show off the screen, this does it. Those blacks, omg!
Was it just me or was the Quadrant score in that video less then the one in the image posted a couple of days ago. It might be due to the processor speed or something else.
They might have the 1Ghz version.
I was thinking the same, I believe the score was 2500 vs the posted image of 3000.

Hmm. I thought so too but one of the responses in the YouTube video says that it was a 1.2Ghz model.
Perhaps running apps in the background might make a difference.
Just a thought.
