Is there any way to remove the original programs that comes with the phone?
I am assuming that flashing it to the HARDCPL rom would allow it, but could I delete some of the original programs without flashing?
Thanks!
dont think so, but not sure. you might try one of the lite roms...

Hi
Does anyone know if it is possible to somehow save CoPilot and F-Secure which came preloaded in my device and I have since activated the subscriptions.
I thought about copying the program files, but im worried that I wont be able to revalidate the software after the handset has been flashed with a different ROM than of T-Mobiles.
Has anyone ever faced this before?
If you install another rom, cooked or backed you will loose all programs and data on your phone memory.
Just copying the program files folder won't do the job for saving the programs, you will need the registry settings also.
You can install the programs you need afterwards or try to find a cooked rom with those program pre-installed.
Hi all,
I am a noob and I am not too sure if i am deleting stock programs and apps that came with the att tilt 2. Some apps and programs cant be found under "remove programs."
For example, if i want to delete a program, can I just go into the file explorer and find the folder and just delete it from there? Will that completely delete that program?
Also, when i try to delete the "Opera 9" folder, it says "_home.exe is a system file, deleting it will cause some programs to not run properly." Can I still delete it anyways?
I basically want to know if I can just find the folders of the pre-installed programs and apps that i dont want and just delete it from there. Will that completely erase it from my phone?
Thanks in advance for help.

anyone? any inputs would be greatly appreciated.
thank you all
I don't know about Opera (are you trying to upgrade to 9.7 or 10 Beta?), but I deleted many of the ATT bloatware programs exactly as you described. No issues at all. You will also want to go to Windows>Start Menu>Programs and delete the shortcuts there, to remove them from the Start Menu screen.
You will get lots of storage back, and the programs will stay removed unless you hard reset.
Hey thanks for the reply. Opera 9 came pre-installed with the tilt 2 and i downloaded opera 10. So i dont to delete opera 9. I went to file explorer and found its folder and try to delete it. But it says "_home.exe is a system file and deleting it will cause some programs to not work properly"
So im not too sure should i proceed and delete it or should i not? I think _home.exe is a file or something in the opera 9 folder. Umm not too sure what to do.

can anyone help??
thanks
if you dont want the ATT bloatware, why dont you just flash a clean ATT rom? (as long as you want to keep the ATT look)
Hi ctbear,
Sorry I am completely new to the WM and not too sure about alot of things. I have been reading on these forums about hard spl and flashing my phone. However, I am still kind of scared to do it, im scared that will screw up and mess up my phone. I do have a couple of questions to your reply.
1. where can I find a clean ATT rom?
2. what exactly is a clean ATT rom? did someone on these forums made the rom or is it a official release by ATT?
Thank you

1. You can find a clean rom in the rom thread.
2. ATT will never release a Clean rom. It has to be made by one of the great rom cooks here on XDA

Is there a flashable version of the stock AT&T rom or are you referring to eras2r's ROM? His is probably closest to the stock rom but it isn't a straight dump from a stock device is it? I've been hoping someone would be able to get the stock rom dumped so we could flash it back. Maybe someone will get one for Christmas! I know the old trick of resetting on the first boot just before the bloatware installer ran was a way to cut back on some of the stuff but it wasn't 100%.

Tried this.. I assumed it was going to show all the loaded programs.. all it shows is TMS uninstaller, CleanRAM which I installed and Adobe Flashlight. Is everything else going to need to be deleted by going thru the file explorer?
You can't delete files in ROM. Shortcuts for programs that came pre-installed can be deleted, but the actual program remains. Still, deleting shortcuts yields very little gain in space as they are small files. It does help clean up the Start menu, though. The only way to get rid of the bloatware is to flash a cooked ROM with those items already removed.
I am currently running the Elegancia 2.5 ROM, but I thought this might be a more general question about ROM's so I wanted to post it here.
I started with the Elegancia 2.0 and upon upgrading to the 2.5, I had to reinstall all my cabs (I save them to a specific folder on my SD card thankfully) and redo all my settings over again. Now that there is a 3.0 version out, I would like to upgrade that as well. However since there are so many settings and cabs that I have now changed and installed, I'd prefer not to go through and do it all again.
Is this possible or is it just the nature of the upgrades that require you to change and redo it all again?
Thanks
its my understanding that flashing erases everything except for the occasional system file left over from the previous ROM... my guess would be no... backup everything and reinstall... at max it'll only take a half hour to reinstall everything..
No way to change ROM's without losing all data...best thing for you to do is use an autoinstall program to resetup your device after a new flash....

Hi, could you explain little bit more about the autoinstall program ? how does it work?
try xda_uc, google it. basically, you create a folder called xda_uc on your storage card, and when you first bootup, all the .cabs you add to the folder are installed in the background, and require no input from you. however, you need to find a rom that supports xda_uc. I use energyrom.
Isn't there any program like itunes for example for iPhone which backups and restores every setting. Any thought friends
Thanks
try spb backup...but it wont auto install everything back, but you do get to do some set up if you want as to what to restore.
I am woundering is it worth deleting programs that came with the HTC HD2? Can some one also tell me how I tried using the add & remove on settings but it only finds stuff on storage card.

Anyone help me as of now?
most of the cases, you can't, those are present in the ROM, so they are "hard burned" on the device, the best way to remove useless programs thatare already on the device (and that's always a good idea) is to install HSPL(2) on the device and flash a custom rom which has only the bare set of base programs, on which you build up your fav setup
If you're curious, look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
wats that one program called that u use to remove bugs from a old ROM before using a new rom?? if u can give me the link i would really appreciate that...
Do a search for Task29, that is the utility you're looking for.
keep in mind, it doesn't remove bugs.... it removes the radio and OS ROMs.... think of it as fdisk/formatting the hard drive before loading a new OS on a computer.
So... if there are any files you want off the phone... make sure you have them backed up before you run it. (files on the SD card are ok)
Ryan, not sure what you mean about it not removing bugs. That's in fact the sole reason for using it; is to prevent remnants of old roms from creating "bugs" in your new flash... In addition, it doesn't touch the radio.
