Hi all,
i've got a spare hermes around and i flashed it with tai_sw's newest rom.
i've put in a 3 pay as you go sim card in hope i can surf their page at least on my hermes. i know for a fact that even with no credit you can surf their webpage as much as you like using a 3 phone.
is this possible with a hermes?
what is the url?
i use to be on 3 and the url was mobile.three.co.uk/hp/singleurl but it doesnt work anymore.
thanks in advance,
jason
anybody please?
You might need to change the IE user agent to pretend you are a 3 phone (not a Hermes). There should be a cab called Identify N95 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=366197 for more info
cheers cyfireglo,
do you know which cab i should use if i am running a windows 6.5 rom by Tai_sw?
ok that cab doesnt work on win 6.5 rom unfortunately
Hi all,
Sub69 has kindly made an update for win6.5 to tweak the phone to identify itself as a N95.

Last weekend I was in a restaurant where they have a free hotspot from free-hotspot.com, I tried connecting with my HTC P3300 but I didn't get past the commercials because I coldn't see them. Is there anyone who has ever used freehotspot.com on his WM5 PDA ? or does anyone know what I'm missing on my device to make this work ?
kind regards,
Kris

the issue is with your browser i assume u were use pocket internet explorer
use opera it will sort you out!!
Indeed it was with Pocket IE, Opera seems to be payware isn't there a freeware solution ?
J.
Try Opera Mini.
It is the only browser that makes it possible for me to do online banking on my Qtek S200 (WM5).
I went to the same hotspot today and tried opera mini. Bad luck, it seems to have a problem with the startprocedure of the hotspot (you enter www.google.com and the hotspot redirects to its own homepage to tell you how to use it). Anyone with another suggestion ?
J.
no one ? How do other people use free hotspots ?

hey ppl
got myself a HTC Diamond touch a few weeks ago and so far i love the fone am in Australia so i had to buy the telstra one its unlocked but still has the telstra pre loaded stuff.
i am a vodafone user and have got the VF MMS and internet working
not interested in a cooked rom yet.
but here is my questions.
how do i use the iphone theme on this rom?
cant find manila folder, is it hidden if so how do i make it un hidden.
aslo in botom left corner it has bigpond link on the bar how can i change this to say contacts or even messages?
cheers guys
i did try using search but couldnt find a clear cut answer, think it came down to the words i am using to search.
oh well anyone with help thanks.
Which iphone theme to you mean?
There is no folder for the manila files, they are all in the Windows folder. If the theme has just these manila files, you need to use a program like total commander to copy the files from the theme's folder, straight into the windows folder, overwriting everything.
then soft re-set, and you should be all good.
If it is a .theme file, then you need to download TF3D Config, save the .theme file to a folder on the phone, and then point the program to the folder. Then, the program will do it all for you, and its easy to change back if you need to.
Hope that helps!
Hi mate,
As above for changing your themes.
The only other extra note to add to that is the simplicity of cabs. Just run the file and it will install for you.
I did the hard work for you:
If you want an iPhone style theme - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425956&highlight=iphone+icons
Alternative small round iPhone - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=437100&highlight=iphone+icons
And lastly for the Bigpond softkey, you want this program - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2485292#post2485292
Grab the .cab file.
I also strongly suggest a cooked ROM. Once you get rid of that Tel**** ROM you won't look back
Cheers,
Byron.
Hey Uziel,
What did you have to do to get mms and internet working? I have similar issue but I am with virginmobile. Haven't been able to get mms or internet working yet. Not sure if it is some telstra settings stuffing the connection up.
Just a general question that you suggested dickenz. What cooked ROM would you suggest for us with Tel**** ROM's?
Cheers
iFonz
I use iFonz - quite fun and customisable....makes my iPhone friends chuckle...

Hi biggirdz,
For the virginmobile settings - My suggestion is to give Virgin a call and tell them you have a Windows Mobile 6.1 device (don't state it's a Diamond as they don't have Touch Diamonds yet I don't think and they might turn you away as it is 'unsupported') and tell them you want to set up MMS and internet.
EDIT: Just had a thought. If you have a Telstra Diamond with a Virgin SIM I think you'll need to create a completely secondary connection. Again, Virgin ***SHOULD*** be able to run you through this over the phone. Maybe even go on their website and see which Windows mobile devices they do have and tell them it's one of those so you get the settings out of them you want.
I'd go for Panosha 2.4 if you want a 'finished' ROM. But if you don't mind one in the testing phase dutty's is excellent aswell.
I am currently using udK's but he has only had 2 releases so far. However I am very impressed. There are a few bugs but I am sure udK will iron them out in future releases.

Thanks for that. I will see what I can do over the weekend.
Hi,
sorry if this has been asked before, i searched but found nothing specific so here goes.
i have been asked by my bro-in-law to downgrade his t-mobile mda compact v to wm5 so he can use the apps he needs to use for his job as a sky satellite engineer.
apart from ruining a perfectly good phone, i'm afraid that it will run like poo and crash often.
so, is there a way to install a wm5 rom to this handset and where do i find a compatible rom?
any help is greatly appreciated
thanks
ave'
i dont think thats possible, but the apps he use should work in wm6 too.
i use apps from wm2003 and wm5 in wm6 so that wouldn't be a problem i think
cheers mate,
i will try that route and see how it goes.
ever tried looking for an old phone that still running wm5 at ebay?
hi every1,
it might look like newbie but, after i upgrade rom to any wm6.5 i don't get the mobile versions of websites anymore. i even tried to get yahoo go to work, but couldn't make it.
is there anything i miss or any remedy?
tnx all in advance
i do
Im using opera and i do.
IE and other net apps are supposed to act that way, ie like opera mini. i just can't get it after upgrading to wm6.5
