Hey, i recently downloaded the opera mobile 9.5 due to the hype of everyone here on the forums however i experienced issues with it. Such as the url bar dissapearing while i was typing in a web address and difficulty with the keyboard. I would like to go back to the standard opera mobile found on the x1 however i cant seem to find any versions other than 9.5 beta. Any help suggestions?
standard opera mobile from x1 rom is in the windows folder. You will find a cab there. Just install it and everything must be fine again.

Hi,
I just installed the new K-Jam rom (K-JAM_WWE_216901_2169101_020710_ship) and everything seems to be working fine apart from opera 8.5 beta 2 which worked very well with my older rom and now opera displays gibberish in the URL (address) line - it's similar to the windows windings font with lot's of weird characters.
The pages that I browse display ok too apart from some content like the google "search" button.
It seems to me like the wrong font is used in some parts of opera
Any ideas?
Works fine here, give me a url you are having issues with and I will try it on my KJAM with the latest ROM and Opera B2
I am having the same problems with Opera since ROM upgrade. When typing in a URL or a google search or anything, the font is similar to windings (i.e. not readable).
i found this beta really slow and screen becomes unresponsive using wifi. Installed cos of tabs but gone back to IE.
I managed to solve this problem by using Tweaks2k2.NET:
* I copied a verdana font from my windows xp machine to the pocketpc windows folder
* using Tweaks2k2.NET - chose the verdana as the default system font.
* Problem solved.
Just wondering what people are using to browse the web (other than the default browser) ?
I've tried Opera Mobile but it seems to play around with some of the text on the input area and screen (odd).
hi, had the same problem with opera. browsing seems fine in terms of speed but the language is distorted. i read the support page of opera, though it supports windows mobile 5.0 they said if you can't find your mobile phone in the support list then it's not compatible. they're suggesting opera mini instead but i haven't tried it yet.
currently im using netfront v3.3 which is so far the most stable for my atom. and browsing is so fast unlike PIE (sucks!). you should try mini-mozilla too.
for opera got funny character in input text. just copy the font arial.ttf from your pc window to atom /windows directory. and soft reset.
What do you know ... copying the font over work .... thanks Mazam.
Just out of interest, how does Opera compare to the others (Netfront etc.), are there really any major differences ?
No, don't use Opera. It's writen in Java and have good support for smartphone. Too bad. It's not really for PDA.
You can try Minimo - Firefox for PPC. Here: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/minimo/
One of the Minimo's good side is it show web pages with java script perfectly. Unlike Opera. Maybe Minimo load slower Opera little bit but it good enough for me.

what do you mean opera is java platform.. that is opera mini, what i'm using is opera for mobiles...
u can go here http://www.opera.com/products/mobile/products/winmobileppc/
Opera mini 8.5 is bar none the best browser, especially when used with the 'fit to screen' option. After using it, netfront, pie, and all the others feel 'broken'.
is it possible to use either opera mini/mobile or both using just wifi. i have searched the web and xda and found nothing that involves this topic.
connect to a wifi router and launch the browser, bingo!
Unfortunately that doesn't work. There is issues with Opera Mini and wifi. Or maybe the issue is connecting Jbed with the wifi connection ...
Does anyone know the resolution?

Try different java engines. Last time I ran Opera Mini, I believe I was on Schap's rom. I don't have a data plan so all I had was wifi. I actually like Opera Mini more than Opera Mobile. Mini had a more intelligent zoom while Opera Mobile will show the entire page, then you need to open a context menu to select the zoom in functionality.
It would be nice to have a browser that will zoom with gestures.
I run Esmertec Jbed with Opera Mini (latest version, don't remember which one exactly) just fine exclusively over WiFi. Didn't really have to do anything special to get it working. The only added thing was to run a Mortscript for creating shortcut that starts Opera automatically.
The recent builts of Opera mobile cause the 'out of memory' problem on my HTC touch. I already tried to change the temporary folder to my storage card, but unfortunately it didn't fixed the problem. Does anyone knows which of opera mobile works correctly on the HTC touch?
Thank you.
Ps. I use the original rom
opera mini
I'm using opera mini and it works perfectly! Better than explorer.
i'll second that. Opera mobile was useless on my (custom ROM) touch too ... however Opera mini is brilliant (although remember not to use it for banking and secure stuff like that as it isn't fully encrypted).
it's a java app which is a pain, but if you search the forums there are ways of making it act like an application which work like a treat.
Opera 9.5 from Omnia
Works well on my Elfin.
I installed the 9.7 beta this afternoon.
Installation no problem but when I want to use it I can only use the trackball and my qwerty keyboard.
The function key's on top don't seem to be working.
Anyone experience with this problem?
Or maybe a different version of Opera Mobile that does work?
Tnx
The best browser for this or any other phone is the Skyfire.Look for it.
It's the only one that has flash installed in it and you can view anything requiring flash.
It has a Smart phone edition, which is what you actually need, so don't bother with Opera.
Trust me, I have searched for all of them. You won't be dissapointed

All Opera Mobile versions: Official thread
On my experience Opera Mobile is the best browser, if you feel it´s too heavy you can use Opera Mini
