50% of the time I go into opera via direct URL link from email it crashes.
quite a nasty crash, the device just freezes and I have to reboot (no other button responds, and screen stays permenantly on, showing opera starting to load page)
anyone else get this ?

I've just clicked on about 10 different email links, closing Opera each time and I can't reproduce this problem. Are you using the Opera version that came with the SuperROM?

Hi
Anyone else noticed that Opera is VERY instable. Usually when a download takes too long and I try to abort and load another url it kills the phone totally and only thing left is to remove the battery. Ironically this usually happens when I demo the phone for a friend.. hey check this out oops phone died..
Which build of Opera do you use? Enter opera:about in your location bar in order to find it out. I am running the 2392 build and it works just fine.

I have build 2682
Can I update with downloads from the official opera-site? I read somewhere here that the phone uses a slightly modified version with the zoom-slider.
I took the version published somewhere in the forum here. I think the problem with using other version(s) is the g-sensor. You will need Gyrator2 in order to rotate your screen.
How do you upgrade the version of Opera that is included with the default HTC rom?
When I open Opera every so often it fails to load a page.
Shutting it down and re-starting it (maybe once or twice) seems to do the trick but it's a bit annoying it fails to load on the first attempt.
Anybody know how to fix this problem?
Any help appreciated.

Has this just started to happen recently? Have you changed anything on your phone, i.e. new rom etc. Are you using stock rom?
A little more info would be greatly appreciated so we can help you more efficiently.
Thanks
Ricky

It's happened since I got the phone really.
I've not changed the ROM on the phone since I got it.
Going in to "settings - about" I can see the build is CE OS 5.2.20764 (Build 20764.1.4.3)
The problem is mainly down to opening the browser and choosing a first page to browse or clicking on a link and the browser opening but failing to open the page.
The little bar at the bottom goes across approx 1/2 cm and then stops.
Close the browser and open it up again and it normally works (sometimes I'll have to do this twice or three times).
Hope this helps.
hi ,
I had the same problem ,and offer that you
install a newer or more stable version of opera
i.e (16070)...
although this may not completely solve
the problem ,may reduce it.
give it a shoot !
do you have a link where I can download opera.
Has anyone else been getting browser crashes?...i noticed it when I tried to go to the florida lottery site....the browser just shuts down....and now gizmodo seems to be doing the same thing ....tried to use skyfire but the same thing happens
you know what i had the same problem and its not a fc it just closes completely i tried to go onto the at&t homepage to look up specs about the captivate and to see the difference between my phone and that one and the BAM!!! browser closed...
Just did some trial and error and I think it was a plugin....i could load both pages with plugins disabled them I reset to default and everything loads fine now
If it's a plugin, it's probably flashlite, but come on, what do you expect from anything flash related.

Hi, my problem is that each time I try and download a file from a file hosting webiste like rapidshare or megaupload Opera doesn't let me download them. It just stops counting down the time limit.
For example on megaupload once I enter the passphrase and hit submit the next page loads and a countdown timer begins from 45secs, however the timer stops at around 34secs. I've tried countless other files and all have encountered the same problem. I think its to do with the page loading; what i mean is on the top left of Opera in the red bar, when a page is loading a circular wheel is shown and during this period the timer goes down, however once the page has fully loaded, ie no wheel, the timer remains halted at that exact position! Furthermore, its not limited just to megaupload or rapidshare, any site that requires me to sit through a countdown timer is affected, sadly.
So i wanted to know if there was a fix for this, or if anyone else has had the same thing happen to them and had a work around.
Any help greatly appreciated, thank you.
I am currently using darkstone's froyo 2.2 (no sense).

Try with the android browser...sometime mega upload gets glitchy with all then flash...
I have just tried the standard android browser and its the same thing I can not download yet again. Skyfire does work however the download speeds are infuriating.
Please does anyone have any idea how I am able to rectify this.
Thank you.

Sometimes I'll be in the browser on a website and the browser will randomly shut down and take me to my homepage. No message pops up saying something went wrong though. I just got my tablet yesterday and already this has happened 7-10 times. Does this happen to other people or am I the only one? Is there anything I can do to fix it?
I have the A501, but my browser has done the same thing a few times. It only seemed to happen when i had a really bad connection though. Don't know if that had any factor in it. Usually its fine though
same here
I think its coding on the website.this happened far less with the new dolphin browser but I like stock browser better.
Giggles are for blonde chics back off there mine
No guarantee that this will work for you, but you could give it a shot.
It very well could be coding on the page as was suggested earlier. Especially if it always happens on a particular site.
For your applications that are force closing or are acting buggy, try this procedure to see if it may correct the behaviors:
Go to Settings >> Applications >> Manage applications >> All tab, select the application that is giving you problems, and press the Force stop button if the application is still running and then to wipe the data press the Clear data and Clear cache buttons as well.
NOTE: THIS WILL RESET THE APPLICATION AND ERASE ANY APPLICATION STORED DATA UNLESS ITS SAVED TO MEMORY.
If this does not correct the issues, then try uninstalling and then reinstall the application.

Yup
It happens to me from time to time, usually when I'm looking around on failblog for some reason. I just go to my history so I can easily go back to the last page I was looking at.
Stock 3.1, latest update.
Its an old and known problem. Unfortunatly 3.1 didn't solve it. Switching off Java does but thats not a satisfieing solution.
Browser keeps shutting down
I'm having the same issue right now and can't seem to use the browser for more than 2 mins its really getting on my nerve. How can I view video when the JavaScript is turned off? For once, why can't this device not have faults regarding basic functions?

It seems that a good question here would also be, "What browsers are you all using? And have they all shown the same behavior?"
I have the default Chrome, then I also have Firefox and Dolphin. I know there are others as well.
my tab had this issue as well. i notice that when adblocker is running it doesnt happen near as often. i suspect pop up ads are responsible. your experience with failblog makes me more sure.
Hmmm..... I don't ever have that problem with the Dolphin HD browser.
This happens a least once a day for me. But it happens randomly, on any page. Even if i just try and open the browser to the home page it'll occasionally close on its own.
