Touch HD Manila TouchFlo3D blah blah blah - XPERIA X1 General

So I am a new member so I thought I would post a thread for kicks. Sorry if this thread is stupid and angers you. If you ever meet me than beat me up or something. and sorry if this topic has already been posted. I couldn't immediately find it when I looked.
I actually don't even have an Xperia yet, but I am getting it and I have plans to put Touchflo on it as a panel so I can go to it when I want. So whats the best direction to go? Is there even a difference between the Touch HD Manila and the TouchFlo3D that is listed in the "X1 programs, panels, tweaks, fixes [COLLECTION]" thread? I would actually appreciate a legit answer telling me what is going down and which is better and why. Thanks guys (smiley face)

So, you figure that sarcasm works better to deflect the burn?
It's simple. If you want it as a panel, stick with the Touch HD Manila and I believe it was pubba's (not sure!) TF3D panel plugin. In any event, that's what you're looking for.
Now, try using a nicer tone next time.

Thanks man. But sorry, I didn't mean to come off as rude. I was just saying that I hope no one gets upset with my thread because I didn't want anyone coming in bashing on me because the question was stupid or the thread was pointless. I am kinda clueless so I didn't want to anger anyone.
but the real question was whether the touch hd manilla or the touchflo3d was better and why. but atleast now I know that whatever one I go with I will be able to set it as a panel

Touchflo 3d (Or TF3D) is the name of the interface that HTC uses on their current phones. So, that's basically always the same. Differences lie in the build of touchflo, or version.
The Touch-HD TF3D is one that works well on the X1 as it uses the same resolution, 800x480 (or WVGA). A panel has been created for it. The other Touchflo3d you find on this forum is probably also based on the Touch HD TF3D.
Currently under development is the "Rhodium" TF3D, or TF3D2. The big change here is that it has full landscape support. More information on that one can be found in the sticky by Daran_clarke. Problem here is that it probably (unconfirmed to me) won't work with the panel plugin, as it differs quite some from TF3D1.
Enough info?

anybody have rLToday theme that looks like this?

it's a clock from the wm6.1 standard (smartphone) edition.. with the vista glass transparency background (so any wallpaper can be used).. been looking for a while but i can't find something that quilte looks the same (graphic and format wise).. also something that can expand itself when in landscape mode.. i'm quite new to rLtoday, so skinning it is a challenge to me..
dude. there are like 2 billion threads on rlToday themes.. if it's not there..
----------
use search. that's what i'm saying.
no disrespect dude..
i know there are - as you say - 2 billion threads.. i scanned and searched em all (even searched google), but what i say is, none of them has the one i am looking for (either that or i skipped a post).. that's why i am requesting for one..

I think what he is saying is post this in an Rltoday thread. It will be better for you because you will get more looks by people who either may have it or who can create it. Just a better think tank there. Non productive posts like this, or just requests or order making, doesn't stimulate development.

Programs you use

Hey everyone - now that many people are getting the HD (through the post, shop, stealing, whatever) I was wondering what programs that people are using.
If possible, please also state what the app does. eg;
Coreplayer - multiple-format video player.
Also, please post in Beards' topic with version numbers, screen resolutions, etc!

Yes there are. And if you take a little look around the forum you'll even find a thread dedicated to exactly that...
I looked through 3 pages fof topics... Though it's nice to see you post in all duplicated topics...

That tells us what programs work, not what the programs do and why people use them.
Different topics IMO. I'm interested in this thread.
Thank you for correcting my error constructivly, Beards. I don't venture out of BLACKSTONE or ELF, really. Will do, now.

The opening question clearly states:- "Ones that work well with the HD, that is."
What we don't want to end up having is two topics with members posting what works in this topic but not in the other ~ which after all is what the other topic is all about.

Your topic, as useful as it is for the elite, is also a big tease.
For example, I don't know what gsen is but I imagine i might want it! I guess I'll have to google.

Jon,
All you need do is go to the topic and ask......
Yes, the topic does list software titles working/not working but there's nothing wrong is posting anything specific about a specified program.
In fact I personally would recommend it.... The more information available is so much better.

This all stems from the fact software is a total mess on windows mobile - even looking at the biggest sites like clickgamer and handandgo none of them have support for the HD yet. As soon as microsoft bring out their software store the better - that's one thing apple got very very right with the iphone.

Couldn't agree more Jonathan.
At the moment it's a total minefield in ascertaining what does and does not work.

There, edited the first post. People can post in both topics. I think it would be interesting to see how many people, for example, used LunarTilt or that iPhone GUI - Beards, with your topic, if someone sees Coreplayer 2.5, they may not bother to list any other interesting apps they use.
Thanks for the link Acelister.
If I find anything of interst applicable for this topic I'll pass it back on to you.

one major problem and handicap windows mobile will have over the iphone.
The mobile osx is only one device (iphone), so it is a lot easier for developers to create and optimise software for the device, as for wm the developers have to think about the many different devices, thus full optimisation isnt really possible, that is why not all programs will run on all devices.
cor blimey - didn't mean to start anything off here, sorry!
The thread of http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442663 is fantastic, and very much appreciated.
If I ever catch up with you guys who have been playing with WM for years, and come across an unlisted app that works, please be assured that I will add to it
However - as a noob, short of Googling each and every one of them to find out what they do (ok, some are pretty obvious!), I have no idea which fall into the categories of "kinda vital" through to "dead useful if you want to do something dead specific".
What I was really hoping for in this thread (and I guess supersquash in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=446128 and Philo25 in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=445543) was a sort of 'starter for 10'.
Looks like between the various posts we're getting there though, so MANY thanks to everyone
Well I've never really gone out of my way to install anything on my Touch Elf, so this was pretty new to me too. I've been getting the hang of it though.
I've installed:
Advanced Config (changes various hidden options),
Capsure (screen capture utility),
Coreplayer (video player),
Klaxon (alarm),
Total commander (better than File Manager),
SPB Mobile Shell (makes the Today screen look completely different),
iFonz (makes the Today screen look like the iPhone).
Those are all easily found using Google.
Nice one Sir - good to see there's a few of us in the same boat!
sounds like a good starter list - now I just need to start Googling where to get these from...
LOL - wife's gonna love me for the next few weeks...
I'd best start earning some brownie points fast before the HD actually arrives

I hear that... "You've not stopped playing with that since you got it!"
I'm supposed to be spending time right now trying to get hold of a Nokia 7510 (yes, I know, but she likes it!) - and instead I'm on here downloading stuff for a handset that hasn't even arrived yet LOL
(shhhhh please )

Question about Manila...

okay, i know this might sound like the dumbest question, butttttt...
i've been out of the windows mobile and htc world for more than a year, just had my hd for a couple of months, and now i'm back to wanting to play with my device (like i used to when i had artemis).
i've been reading a lot of threads and posts that has "manila" written/discussed/mentioned on them.
but can any kind soul here please, tell me what the heck is manila? really have no idea what it is and what it does.
again, so sorry for my ignorance.
Hi there.... some say that ignorance is a blessing .... and the others say there is no dumb questions only dumb answers hehe...
But down to the wire Manila or TF3D (TouchFlo3D) is front end of your (TouchHD) phone experience (All that tabs u can change with finger slide). Its basically more complicated and heavy integrated with windows mobile, theme. Manila, is just a code name and official name is TouchFlo3D.
Hope that answer your question.

Will HTC Sense with Android 2.1 support landscape home view?

Hi all,
i was wondering if we we will get landscape view for the homescreens on htc hero after the 2.1 update.
i have seen many videos and screenshots but none of them shows htc sense homescreens in landscape.
is this feature implemented?
*Blog link taken out, so gabrieltit can sleep good tonight - and to keep the discussion on topic*
Bye,

Errr..........
I think the answer to your question is: no one gives a ****, son. Did you really think that a weak, uninspired and lame question masquerading as something of interest but merely serving to promote your poorly laid out and derivative blogging would have us all singing your praises ? I told you before, son, the only place your going to get any joy with that is in front of the mirror.
Having said this, perhaps we have all read you incorrectly. This is the renaissance man in action. You have used this 'post' as a modern medium to retell the myth of Narcissus, yourself cast as the vain youth. Or maybe this is moving on a couple of hundred years to neoclassicism - it's a difficult one to judge. When looked upon in this light I say bravo to you sir - re-educating the geeks is a fine and noble cause. Perhaps you might think of creating an allegory of HTC with all those wanting the 2.1 update cast as Tantalus, HTC the vengeful fates. It's food for thought

actually this is even not the first time i posted something about my blog, i.e. i posted my htc sense review and my motorola milestone review. luckily the people understood that i really meant to provide some information for the interested, and i got some positive feedback.
oh BTW: haven't you send me a private message asking to collaborate on my blog? i still have that in my inbox. funny.
and no, the question wasn't a cheap disguise, as you can see nobody could answer it. i still want to know if we will get landscape view as its a very good feature i got used to on my milestone testdevice.
No landscape mode im afraid (not juding by the video clips ive seen of the legend which runs 2.1 and new sense UI but does not tilt orientation.
and in response to the response - nice use of the english language ......... and you re right its food for thought ha ha

i hope this is not true. i really hate it when browsing on landscape mode and when you need to do something on the homcescreens you'll get the vertical view.
this would be a killer criteria. the more i see which way htc sense goes, the more i lean toward the nexus one (faster updates, landscape view).
I didnt realise the nexus one could tilt the homescreen !!!
and dont let gabriel tit put you off your blogging man. I quite often have a look at links and blogs on forums - sometimes theres a nuggett of information that is interesting on them!!!!!

well it has android 2.1 running and afaik this is a standard feature of it.
on htc desire you have the htc sense overlay which may be the reason for the missing landscape view.
milestone has it so i'm expecting that the nexus one has it too, but i'm not 100% sure.

yeah, normally i wouldn't. but i could see this discussion going on off topic, and then it would really look like cheap advertising as many people would check out the topic when its at the top of the message board. Therefore i deleted that part and kept the question which i really wanted to get an answer for.

Read the Question
When I say you geeks aren't the sharpest tools - apart from the appauling use of grammar or lack of it - read the question - I haven't attacked the question per say - rather the cheap attempt at posing a 'question' masquerading as a tool to get you poor unsuspecting fools to read the crap this fool has written elsewhere.
I don't suffer fools yet ironically suffer them alot - this site, for all it's purported intelligence commonly shows a distinct lack of it - Boo Hoo
someone lock this thread up
Using tradition as knowledge HTC will never add landscape to Sense UI unless they release a device with physical keyboard...
Dont mind Gabriel...hes always here trying to bring attention to himself, using empty off-topic phrases in order to look smarter and enlighted.

Change Slider Size in S2U2?

I'm wondering if anyone's had any luck changing the slider size in S2U2? Seeing the iPhone, it has a MUCH bigger slider, which is easier to grab (I often find myself unsucessfully trying to grab the slider). On the HTC TP2, anyway, it looks tiny.
I saw the thread about S2U2 customization (XDA won't let me post the link), but after going through about 20 of the 721 pages of posts (and some extensive searching) it seems like no one's done this yet (or I'm bad at searching).
Any thoughts? I should maybe contact A_C, but wanted to see if any of the smart folks here has an idea first. It's an amazing program, that's my only gripe.
you can try this
it had a same problem. but then i realize that i have a wrong version of s2u2. I recently download the good one that is v2.34 released on 28th march. Make sure you download VGA-WVGA version. and now its perfect. hope it will help
It's better than the windows media slider, omg that one's a pain. What are they thinking making it so small; not much better on the PC even.
