Windows Live for Windows Mobile - Release Notes, v10.06.0046.0800
(Windows Live Hotmail, Messenger, Contacts and Spaces)
First install of Windows Live for Windows Mobile may indicate an unnecessary alert and fail to install:
Even with Windows Live no longer present in the "Remove Programs" feature of Windows Mobile 6, an alert may result indicating "It looks like you are trying to reinstall Windows Live on top of a previous version. Please uninstall the current version first."
Corrective action:
A second attempt to install will be successful.
Setup abruptly exits:
Windows Live for Windows Mobile is not compatible with Samsung SCH-i780 Today screen which causes setup to exit.
Corrective action:
Disable the Samsung Today screen via device Settings\Personal\Today\Items.
Services.exe crash may occur with uninstall/install and "Switch Windows Live ID":
A service.exe error may occur during an install of Windows Live for Windows Mobile when uninstalling the previous version while logged into Windows Live Messenger. This same error may also occur when you are logged into Windows Live Messenger and request to Switch Windows Live ID.
Corrective action:
Sign out of messenger and disable 'As item arrive' before uninstall/install. If the issue still occurs, please restart the device to correct the problem.
OK button on HTC TyTN II (aka Tilt device) does not work to select Windows Live options:
In Windows Live, the menu options cannot be selected using the OK button on the HTC TyTN II device.
Corrective action:
Use the d-pad select or stylus to select the option that you wish to view or change.
Cannot select the domain field when using a right tap of the d-pad from the e-mail address on a Motorola Q9:
When entering your e-mail address during Windows Live setup, you may find that you cannot right tap the d-pad to select the domain.
Corrective action:
Tap down on the d-pad from the e-mail address and then press left twice to back into the domain field.
Synchronization fails when creating and using a new Windows Live ID during setup:
If a new Windows Live ID is created during setup step '2/5' using "Get a Windows Live ID", synchronization will fail at '5/5' and after setup. When synchronization fails during setup, view errors will indicate "Personal settings: Failed to synchronize. E-mail: Windows Live Hotmail is temporarily unavailable. Please try again." After setup the sync status will indicate "Result: Windows Live Hotmail is temporarily unavailable. Please try again." Microsoft has identified this issue and is currently working to correct this temporary problem. The following corrective action is required until the issue is resolved.
Corrective action:
Sign in to Windows Live or Hotmail from a desktop computer and then sign out. Following attempts to synchronize or send/receive mail will be successful with Windows Live for Windows Mobile.
Time to sync e-mail and contact takes a long time:
During setup for Windows Live for Windows Mobile or when you Switch Windows Live ID, syncing contacts with setup options enabled for "Store Windows Live contacts in your mobile phone's contact list" and "Merge duplicate contacts" can require more than 20 minutes to complete when there are 400 or more contacts.
Corrective action:
Unselect 'Merge duplicate contacts' during setup to improve performance. Do not cancel setup until the process is complete.
Sync fails for large inbox and 400 or more contacts:
During setup for Windows Live for Windows Mobile or when you Switch Windows Live ID, syncing mail with a large inbox or more than 400 contacts with setup options enabled for "Store Windows Live contacts in your mobile phone's contact list" and "Merge duplicate contacts" can appear to fail with the message "Synchronization Fails". No contacts will be available in the contacts application, but the sync process is running in the background and will eventually complete. Until the sync process completes, the device may operate slowly and some functionality will appear to be disabled.
Corrective action:
Do not cancel setup and allow the process to complete. Once the process is complete, contacts will be available in the contacts application.

On Universal Mobile 6 section there is a version for Universal that works perfect on VGA screens
Hope it helps
It's not a Windows Live build April 2009, by looking at the files in the cab I can see that the files are from october 2008.
I think it's about time microsoft gives us a new revamped Live messenger for windows mobile because at the moment the official live messenger for Nokia Symbian S60 created by microsoft is fresher and looks a lot better aswell! Thats a damn shame

hi,
Just received my QTek 9100 (talk about the power of online shopping: ordered yesterday from expansys germany, was shipped yesterday from france, and arrived today in austria ), and I'm having a problem with ActiveSync 4: it won't allow me to sync with outlook.
When I first connect my device to AS, I get the following error message:
You will be able to synchronize only files, folders, and other non-Outlook items if you continue.
To synchronize E-mail, Calendar, Contacts, Tasks and Notes with this computer, do the following:
Disconnect the device, install and run Outlook, and then reconnect the device and complete the Synchronization Setup Wizard.

I've tried reinstalling AS4, rebooting, etc, doesn't matter, I always get the same message, whether Outlook is running or not.
System is Win XP SP2 (with all patches), Outlook 2003 (also with all updates). I have been successfully syncing an old Ipaq 2210 with AS3.8 until yesterday. I also deinstalled the old AS3.8 before installing AS4.
Any ideas on what I might do to get that working properly?
thanks,
tom.
Try AS 4.1. People have reported numerous problems with 4.0.
I found this too, with my Jasjar. I used the Add/Remove Programs control panel in Windows XP to remove the Outlook 2003 Junk Email patch. After that it worked fine.

Yea thanks, that did the trick!
Installed AS4.1 beforehand, but that didn't change anything. So now I can sync, but will get more spam.. hmm
Unfortunately that didn't help for very long... Now I'm getting another sync error:
Code:
Synchronization cannot be started because you are not able to log on to the network and access information.
Needless to say, everything works just fine in Outlook, and rebooting didn't help at all. Using AS 4.1.1 Build 4807, and Outlook 2003 with all updates minus the October Junk mail patch.
Any more ideas?
UPDATE:
I found another Outlook Junk email update that is apparently part of Office 2003 SP2.. removed that as well, now it seems to work again. Just what is it with AS4 and Outlook Junk email updates?
Anyone here syncing the wizard directly with an Exchange server? Is that a better route to go (less hassles and problems)?
My problems concerning 4.0 was due to the fact of a firewall (zonealarm).
If I disable zonealarm, no problems at all, if its enabled: No synchronisation.
In Zone Alarm I put Activesync in the trusted zone and have not had any problems with it since then.
Unfortunately the sync problem returned after a reboot.. same as the last message (won't post that stupid too wide screenshot again, see my previous post).
So I'm back again to looking for solutions.. damn AS4.

Hi all,
I'm having problems with Sync. First of all it seems to be very slow. After about one minute I got this error:
[translating from Italian]
Impossible to connect with current connection setting. To verify connection setting go to Start, Settings, connection
Anybody have this problem?
Ciao, did you check that under Start/Settings/Connections/USBtoPC the "Enable advanced network functionality" is disabled. I take it that in your ActiveSync connection settings on the desktop pc USB is preset.

Hi all,
@Lucas0511
Yes I tried to disable "Enable advanced network functionality" too, but it didn't work.
@Raziel1
well, I'm running Vista and I have a TIM brand HD.
1. I plug in my device via usb
2. Device center recognize my HD (connected)
3. I set up it for sync
4. A window pops up on HD asking me for username and password related to mail account (incoming mail). I ignore it
5. Sync starts, but it hangs on. It keeps on syncronizing, but no green bar for process advance. And it never ends...
6. Unplug and replug in it.
7. Device center recognize my HD (connected)
8. A window pops up on HD asking me for username and password related to mail account (incoming mail). I ignore it
9. Sync starts (with advance green bar)...and it is very very slow!...I'm still waiting it to end...
10. Now it is over...but with this error message: Impossible to connect with current connection setting. To verify connection setting go to Start, Settings, connection
In order to disable, your HD needs to be disconnected from Activesync and USB cable, and soft reset. But I suspect the problem is that you dont allow Activesync to access Outlook, since your 4. and 8. "A window pops..." is a request from ActiveSync to allow it to access Outlook, therefore requesting pass. It is a security measure so that not any given program can access your Outlook.

Well, it asks me to verify incoming mail password and username, but I still haven't set any mail any PW or UN, but the accounts that TIM brand did on my phone, but they are not configurated yet (and I don't want to). Since I never had window like that to pop up on trying sync, I suppose it could depend on brand setting...
Alora, try my first idea on USBtoPC, and try de-selecting Email from sync list in Mobile Device Center.

If you post funnies...well, I will thank you for your humor but, It doesn't help me.
I have an ActiveSync problem with my new HD.
The sychronization is slow, and when it ends (in about 10 minutes), the immediate 2nd sychronization begins, and it stucks there. The sync never ends. Data is synchronized, but there is no end of synchronization.
I tried to uncheck the "faster data synchronization", but the sync is slower and also stucks.
I had this problem from the first synchronization.
Any idea please??
I also have an ActivSync problem :
- The first sync at home with Vista/Outlook 2007 took age, however OK
- Then at work with XP/Outlook 2003, the pairing went OK, and then the Contacts sync OK too
- Then, with the Calendar, a very strange thing happen : Outlook 2003 ad 248 news empty appointments on today into the phone... and then stop syncing appointments
- Then everything went OK with the Notes, Tasks and Files
- Then it goes back to the Calendar, and never stop syncing without adding any appointment from the phone to the PC... until I stop it manually !
Actually, I retried a lot of times, always with the same bas result...
Does anyone have a clue about my problem ?
Many thanks in advance !

Hi Rolud,
active sync creates appointments by creating them in todays date then changing them to the actual appointment.
when I had this it turned out that it hated one appointment (dodgy text) and kept on trying to recreate it
I had to find the rogue appointment and fix the text

For Hotmail, use Windows Live app. From start menu...
And about the batter; buy a new batter with higher capacity...
HOTMAIL
For configuring your hotmail account follow these steps:
1. Create a new email account.
2. In the email field write your email but replace the "@hotmail.com" with "@hotmail.con", this way the OS is not going to load Windows live messenger to sync your email.
3. Disable the option "Try to get e-mail settings..."
4. Select the email provider, in this case, Internet e-mail.
5. Complete the name and account display name
6. Incoming server: "pop3.live.com:995". Account type: POP3
7. Complete the form with your username and password. Note: the username is your full email address: "[email protected]" and not "yourusername".
8. Outgoing mail server: "smtp.live.com:25". Check the "outgoing server requires au...". Click on Advanced settings and check the "Require SSL..." for incoming ant outgoing e-mail.
9. Complete the rest of the setup.
10. Now, go to your email account and go to Tools > Options, once there, click on the email account you just created and click on "Edit account setup." NOTE: It might make you wait until it syncs 1 time.
11. Replace the "@hotmail.con" with the right one "@hotmail.com" and hit next 'till the end of the setup, and done.
This should work

As far as I am aware, hotmail does not support Push email.
You need an exchange server for this.

regarding whowing my location weather in home, you need to enable my location.
Go to manila settings and go into "positioning" or something like that, you have to allow google positioning services to check for your location in order for the phone to know where you are and show your weather.

settings menu all settings system location services
For hotmail have a look in the settings menu and set it to sync as items arrive and that works like push email.
either go into the windows live setting menu by pressing start menu, then windows live, then click menu and then options.
Or - follow the email wizard to set up hotmail and it on your email tab in sense. go to the email tab in sense, click 'inbox' then menu, then tools, then options. once in that menu click where it says 'hotmail' (mine has a * next to it as it is my preferred account) you should then be in the windows live settings menu.
so after doing either of those methods to get to this point, Number 3 on the windows live options menu is 'snyc schedule' and make sure it says 'as items arrive.'
hope that helps!

really thank you so much It has been solved
With your battery issue, try lower your screen brightness and kill data connections and all programs when they are not being used.

Hello
I just noticed that I cannot see HTML mail in HTC MAIL app on any build (Desire or Desire HD)
I means that if I go to HTC MAIL settings, I see the option "mail format" in gray so not changeable, and I see there "Text only".
Some one had succeeded to have html mail?
It's definitively not a Exchange Server problem, because using any other mail software as K9, Moxier, Nitrodesk... I correctly receive and see HTML mails.
Go to settings and then choose 'Send & Receive'. Choose 'Mail size limit' and set the limit to 'No limit'. Emails will now be downloaded in HTML format.

I alredy tried this, no success. Email are still received as text only. And the option is still unchangeable.
I see. It worked for me. Although my build doesn't have a 'Mail Format' option at all - so there is no option greyed out. I'm currently using MCCM SE v3.4.

Hey rafpigna, you are not alone in this. I can never view my company's exchange mail in HTML except when using those few apps that you mentioned.
Some people said it's because my exchange sever is 2003, but my company has recently upgraded and I still don't get HTML display (format greyed out like you). If it is due to older exchange version, why is it that we can view using other apps. I am also able to view my exchange mail in HTML on my iPad using the default email app.
All the following Android Device/ROMs native email app does not display exchange in HTML for me:
1. HTC HD2
2. Samsung Galaxy S
3. Samsung Galaxy Tab
It is interesting that the email app is able to display HTML emails for my Yahoo and GMail accounts.
BTW, I have never gotten to display my Exchange emails in HTML under WM6.5.x or older either, and to imagine that WM and Exchange are both from MS!!
It real annoying and frustrating. As much as I dislike iOS, it is the only one that I am able to display my Exchange emails in HTML properly.

nice to see that I'm not alone
I disklike to use other apps for anything that could be done with stock apps... but anyway in this case I have to continue using Moxier...
