Over at PDAClan.com they're working on WM 6.5 for the HP iPAQ 610-series. Currently, there are bunch of bugs to be worked out, but at least we know there's something in the pipelines...

He says they already know about a couple of bugs:
1. After opening Settings > Phone, the window can't be closed.
2. "Missing card." [-]Whether he means the SIM or the SD card I'm not sure.[/-] It's the SD card that can't be detected, thanks aaronx.
3. "This isn't an official 6.5, because the .VM and .ROM in 6.5 aren't the same as in 6.1. Since the HP612 has never come out with 6.5, there's no place to find the precise .VM and .ROM needed to transplant [WM 6.5 onto the HP612], unless an expert can properly modify them based on 6.1. Here, I've used the resources from 6.1. However, not trying out [the ROMs for this reason] simply won't do - on the basis of the PocketPDA Xiu Mutou's 6.5 ROM for the Dopod U1000, which basically has no problems. From this we can see that using the .VM and .ROM from 6.1 can produce a ROM without bugs - as to the other properties, I just don't know."

I still waiting for WM6.5

there is a stable wm 6.5 , 21193 build
..but it is in simplified chinese, I flashed it and it seems so far so good
I think there is english in the rom since when I shutdown it actually give english message in the popup box, so it may be able to changed to english by registry
but I haven't had time to look at it yet

Hi,
Sounds nice, but for an WWE interface you need the complete langpack : 0409.mui and as there 's still no emulator for the WM6.5 , it's not available yet....

ya i guess...I haven't never cooked a room before so I have no idea exactly how the mui thing work.
May be i wiill look at some some 6.5 rom in ppcgeeek to see if i can copy the english mui over? Do you think it is possible?

Not to mention you'll need to replace ALL references of the old mui to the new, include fonts etc ... and even then you can have some driverproblem.
Guess I'll wait some more time

i extracted the rom and notice it is probably protected...package tool cannot recreate sys and oem folder
so i think the whole thing need to be start from scratch, but at least we know it is possible

some update for my first rom cooking!
I successfully flashed mine to ENGLISH 6.5 using xip extract from the chinese rom and combine it with the sys floating around here/ppcgeek
wifi work...but the problem is PHONE does not work
so need to compare files with the chinese rom to see what i am missing
if anyone know why the phone doesn't show up in the communication manager let me know
EDITED: may be because i used a cdma sys? let me try to use different sys lol

i replaced ril.dll, phone.dll and rilgsm.dll and now the phone works
i will start a new thread when i package the whole thing up

Since trying all rom it seems this one is best , working fine & compare to all last one this is very good & fast,This is most latest & updated version

I have installed 6.5 version 13 few hours back. Until now it is good. I downloaded this as well. In case if 6.5 ver 13 fails to work for me, I will install this version. Version 11 of 6.5 was not good for me.

6.5 doesnt work for me. it is quite unstable. after trying v11 and v13, I have installed this one and more than happy.. this has that "slide to answer" feature of 6.5 and rest stuff is 6.1.. recommended!

First do hard spl. Hard spl is found at the top of Opal ROM development page. After hard spl you can flush any ROM.

WM 6.5 ( all the versions ) is quite unstable for me. after trying WM 6.5 ( all the versions ), I'm happy installing this one...

Hello i have a problem with the rom when i extract it my bitdefender says is a trojan and deletes it
i hope is just a false response from my antivirus

i finally got to try this rom and i must say wow. you really can tell the difference in performance from this and the 6.5. the 6.5 is just slow with the in program menus compared to this one.
i reccommend this rom. even tho ive only had it installed one day, the only downside is i miss the new honey comb programs.

This looks to be a false response. I downloaded and installed but my antiviruses (AVG and antimalwarebytes) didn't detect any virus.

Yes you are right. I tried the version 11 of 6.5. It gave me a lot of troubles. Then I tried v 13 of 6.5. The same problem of slow response and crashes but better than 11. Now I reverted to v 14 of 6.1. This is quiet stable. I am happy with this.

I tried the version 6.5 V_15. overall look is good but it seems that still it has a troubles.The same problem of slow response Now again reverted to this V_14 of 6.1. I think This is quiet stable with good speed compare to all last ROM for daily usages

Errrrr... Sorry. I know it's about a month ago already, but i just flashed my opal using your ROM. And I've found one issue which is "ActiveSync Autorun". AS always starts itself on my device,,, and it's just sooooooooo annoying. Other previous ROMs i used didn't have this problem before. So... Are there any solutions for this?

Launcher apps locked
Congrats on a good ROM. I was looking for a faster ROM which retained most of the original apps. I much prefer Opera, so I'll install that.
But could you help me with how to unlock the top buttons you have installed to the launcher. I would prefer those spaces be allocated to the apps that I use most frequently.
As small bug is that after you have added an application button in the launcher the "All Programs" softkey stops working. I haven't consistently figured out how to solve this, I think it is as simple as running an app of some sort and then going back to it, but it is a bit frustrating.
Again, thanks for sharing your work. I wish there were a few more doing work on the Opal side of things. Wish I could learn how to do some cooking myself.

The basic functions of WM, such as Camera, SMS, ... is working.
Up ROM when finished or when you reboot the machine, MortScript will automatically load and display popup, which is normal phenomenon. This is a support application plugin Titanium. Just click OK to exit is all the good will.
Can also removed (in Windows / Startup) shortcut, but when the effects of Titanium (weather + Comm) will not appear beautiful.

I confirm all this.
the rom looks very nice but not ready for everyday use

Guys, I have not had yet the chance to try it myself, will do it as soon as I am back from work, but just a quick question, have you done a Hard Reset after installing this ROM?
I have just seen a post of PhamQUang in PDAVIET asking to do this, because in his opinion the today button and everything is working just fine if you do this. It wouldn't be the first time we see this issues either way (already seen them in version 12 if I am not mistaken)

thanks for the hard reset tip...worked for me...
i have to say this rom is quite well...can anyone answer why isnt there the new version of internet explorer in phamquangs roms?
PROS:titanium is fast, newer build, new honeycomb interface, the icons are more windows mobile 6.5 icons..
CONS: need to hard reset for things to work...titanium panels such as weather,comn manager can go haywire sometimes...device vibrates sometimes for no reason...internet explorer is old

BUT, for what I have seen so far... it is slooooooooow. Version 13 was faster, without any doubt.
On the other hand, let's remember that the according to the specifications of WM6.5 this OS requires a processor faster than the one the OPAL has...

could anyone tell me i should download the new link which was edited today? or can i still use the original link that was given yesterday? bcoz todays link has the word _FIX at the last point. anyone please answer?

hi, i'm just about to change my chinese rom [1.26.sinotak.chs] to this latest one but i'm not sure if after that it'll still support Chinese.. anybody knows? thx in advanced for you reply

I had downloaded the fixed one. after I had flashed it to mobile, i quickly do hard reformat. points I mentioned before did not appear again, the room is fast.
Just tow notes, when turning the mobile in to stand by, it should not accept any key press to go on again unless i press on power button again, which is not this what happened, if u press on any key, then it come back to live again. 2nd note, when browse for contact to see its details, pressing red button should return in to
today screen, which is not happened unless i press on OK.

dude go to settings/system/keylock/ then select the option lock all buttons except power button.....thats it

And the question that I've wanted to know till all time I'm here: what do you mean under XIP and SYS?

HR mean Hard Reset and you can do an hard reset by pressing red button, green button and soft reset button on the back.
About XIP and SYS i dont know... but i think they are some part of the rom
i request again how to install the language pack

As for langpack... maybe firstly you'll try to use kitchen... or, i don't know... simply rename it to *.cab...

I installed this release normally, no HR was required.
[EDIT]
I had a problem... the connection manager said No Service, no way to collect to the line. I had to return at the version 16...

dear aiyaz i downloaded the file but iam unable to install it kindly render ur help.
it says the the file is encrypted wen i run it on the computer.
but wen i run it on my htc touch opal it says first run the specific application and install the file.

I feel this rom a little faster than v16. What differences are between v16 and v17 beside the manilla 2d inside this version???
SOMETIMES AFTER INSTALLING PROGRAMS THE TODAY SETTINGS STOP WORKING. ONLY SHOWS THE "SETTINGS" TITTLE IN THE TOP BUT I CAN'T SWITCH TODAY PLUGINS AND I HAVE TO HARD RESET BUT THEN AGAIN, AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF INSTALLING, THE SAME THING!!

actually, theres a newer version, v20, flash that version instead... v19 has quite a lot of bugs, like the icons are retarted (i really mean tht).. i havent got the time to flash v20 but i can live with v19...

Dude are you born to tell us drawback or just keeping wm 6.5 down If you dont like wm 6.5 then dont try leave it let others do.
And if your r talking about home setting prob... then its not wm 6.5 prob but opal but many have fixed that....

I know that home settings prob. is with opal.....i have been cooking the roms since 6 months for gene.....
if you say that many have fixed them,then why they are not sharing with other members.....

Yes its 100% true that some have solved it but the thing is i have contacted some of the cheifs but they say that they are using default oem only and further they have provided me there oem too i used that still same prob, really weird.
But onething iam sure nguoc 100% knows the solution iam very very sure. But he is not active now a days in forum so i havent asked him...

Buddy no offence to you but i just saw that everywhere you are speaking against wm 6.5 ok its no problem if you dont like that leave you can express your feelings etc in Normal opal thread not in the thread of a rom release. In this thread lecamtran released a rom so that you can test and give a feedback instead of telling others that you dont like it.
If you dont like it there is no need to post here keep you opinions with you or post in relevent sections..
Take it light dude i can understand but please open a thread in Touch Viva, MDA Basic General i and others will be glad to discuss about that there. I hope you got my point...
