Hi all,
It is nice to see all Blackstone users gathered togather and made alot of improvement over the standard ROM.
I was managed to use the HardSPL method to flash the Dutty Xtreme 2.6 MSVC version. But I saw some posts saying people are using the Dutty Xtreme 2.4 instead ? So, which is the official one to use ?
I had some problems with 2.6, almost every second if I restart the phone by press the Power button for few seconds then re-power on again, the phone tends to stuck at the Windows Mobile 6.1 boot screen and cannot proceed further, I need to re-start the phone again and wishes it to boot properly. On top of the Xtreme 2.6, I also installed TomTom and Chinese Language pack. Maybe I shouldn't install the language pack, but I need it to read some Chinese website. Please note, I am not critising Dutty Xtreme rom, but maybe I was not using the official version of Dutty Xtreme.
Also, does anyone knows if I want to reverting back to using the HTC Official rom from their website, how to revert it back ?

If you got your rom from Duttys thread or from his site it would have been official. Reason why people use V2.4 instead of V2.6 is because they have already set there phone up to the way they like it and V2.6 still has some of the same bugs, so no point flashing to it
Once you flashed V2.4, 2.5 or 2.6 did you hard reset twice after?
Try reading his thread
Your queries are all about duttys roms. Why not ask this question on his thread instead of starting a new one?
If you read the wiki you will also find information on flashing and how to get back to official roms
Also try reading forum rules before posting new threads. Link below!
Please respect the Forum Rules and don't create new threads when there is one that can be used already.
I closed this last night when it was late so I was a little tired so my explanation was short, but Fallen Sparten has done a good job with explaining things.
Thanks

What roms have you tried and what problems have you found?
I'm using Artemis' 2.8 rom, which seems adequate, but I understand a 2.9 is imminent.
I would probably wait a few days for everyone to incorporate the new extra memory hacks before jumping in right now.

read up on hspl, which will let you flash any rom. I'm on o2 and currently running sone 1.31 rom and it's sweet as a nut.

This puppy likes the sound of that...following your advice and guidance I succesfully carried out my first flash yesterday to 1.66 although I dont think I'm getting the full benefit of it yet as my spb backup has restored the gluttony of tweaks/mods I did prior to flashing some of which may have been a tad injudicious (if it's free I'm having it lol..) thanx again for the pointers sam...

Yup,had the same problem myself and even went so far as to ask O2 and HTC for their thoughts on this...here's O2's response re:using HTC updates and warranty:
I'm sorry to know that your mobile phone has a fault.
Terry, HTC is one of our partner mobile phone provider. So, updating
your mobile phone software by downloading from HTC will not void your
warranty.
All we want is that your mobile phone should work perfectly.
Whereas HTC said this about not being able to download a ROM:
Dear Sir,
Even if you unlock your PDA from your network, the software installed is still locked to O2 thats the reason why you can not download the ROM in our web site. The ROM in www.htc.com are only suitable for HTC branded devices.
Best Regards,
HTC
to which the elegant solution is to make a FULL backup (use spb backup or something similar) download HSPL,unzip, sync phone and run the exe...(make sure you check you do have SPL 1.42.0000 on your phone before doing this)...thats step 1 link for this is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611433 where you'll find that explained again but in more detail...
step 2 is to grab the rom of your choice from xdev...no need to go pestering HTC and getting blown out as you're not using an unbranded phone...if you grab an official HTC rom and flash it via sd card you'll remove the HSPL but if you do it via pc HSPL stays in there for flashing future ROM's...(just make sure you remove it if you ever have to send it back on a warranty claim by doing a card flash)
step 3 is to enjoy you're newly flashed ROM (I'm typing this on my laptop which is connected to my phones newly activated wifi router...yahboo sucks to you O2)
I was in the same situation - on O2 and unable to download the official ROM updates from the HTC Support site. I very nearly returned the phone, packing it back nice an neatly in it's box and putting my sim back into my 3GS... but I'm glad I didn't.
I decided to keep it anyway because it was a free upgrade and flash to HSPL - then install an up-to-date official ROM. I flashed from 1.43 to WWE 1.48 and things got better, but weren't perfect. Then the other day when the WWE version of 1.66 hit I flashed to that and am loving it. There's no lag on wake-up, no slowdown in messages or emails etc. It's virtually perfect.
I recommend going HERE to get HSPL (and follow the instructions to the letter) - then HERE to get the WWE version of 1.66 (1.66.405.2) - then as directed by the instructions in the Flashing Your First GSM LEO ROM thread - do a hard reset to make sure nothing was left over from 1.43.
Then you're have a much faster, far less buggy phone, and can always fall back on HSPL if anything ever goes wrong. You won't need to install the hotfix's from the HTC Support site because they're included in the ROM.
If you then install a taskbar mod (like say the awesome Touch X battery % cab) you'll lose the volume icon in the taskbar. The easiest way to fix it is to grab a registry editor and navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\VolumeOverlay
...and delete (press and hold for options) these two entry's...
"LoadIconFromResDLL"=-
"SoundIconLink"=-
...then reboot and it'll be back.
I can also recommend:
Touch X Taskmanager
Touch X Screen Responsiveness Less Sesitive
Touch X Reset and WiFi
Touch X Start Menu Transparent
...and some of the visual modifications available in the Sense 2.5 Tweaks % Mods thread HERE
I'd also check out HDWALL (although again, follow the instructions to the letter) to get rid of the ugly black bars top and bottom, apply your backgroud on every page in Sense, and make the background you apply to your homescreen as sharp as it is when viewing it in the photo gallery, or on your lockscreen.
I love my HD2...

Hi guys
Received a sms message from T-mobile announcing the official release of ROM update. Check out the Tmobile HD2 site.
Edit:
Installed the update; found nothing new or exciting and now reverting back to Kumar's TMHD2 Touch Premium 2.9 WWE
For those who have flashed 2.08.HSPL to use unofficial ROMs, if you install the official release by USB your 2.08 HSPL will still be intact after the upgrade and you can go back to other ROMs with out any problem. That's what I did by reverting back to Kumar's ROM.

I am curious too about what it is for, it would be cool if it was Windows 7.
I am running Energy Rom, and Radio 2.15.50.14, so I am assuming updating would be a bad idea.
I just got the sms message too - I'm downloading it right now from the t-mobile website.
Figures - I just put a different ROM on my phone - yesterday! hahaha

Still no multitouch keyboard. Is this not possible with WM6.5? I just can't understand why, almost a year after initial release, HTC has not released a multitouch keyboard for WM6.5 on the HD2. Iphone and Android have had it forever, and it makes SUCH A BIG difference!

As so many forum members have said, perhaps for a million times, ROM preference is really an art of matching ones individual needs; I have been testing several ROMs, Energy, Kumar's, Omega etc. and currently find Kumar's ROM meeting my needs. To me Kumar's ROMs seem stable and do not have many programs that the chefs generally tend to add to their custom ROMs. I like my system to be as minimum and as stable as possible so that I can add and customize it as I want.
So the best thing is to try couple of Custom ROMs and see if you feel comfortable with the version of ROM you have installed.
Also, the latest version of ROM (both Official, Custom) are generally less buggy.
For those of us who do not want to go for the custom ROMs, I guess today's official release from T-mobile should be the one we should be upgrading to. T-mobile must have ironed out previous noted bugs in this new upgarde. For the brief moments that I played with the official new release; everything was smooth and working. But as I said earlier, I have now reverted back to Kumar's ROM.
It appears that today's 'Official" release is the same as the leaked release from a couple of weeks ago.
The size of the RUU_signed.nbh is exactly the same size. The date is different but I doubt that means anything significant.
I never got any text from tmo. :-(
after attempting the update, I get 7 vibrations in a row at the tmo boot screen and then it freezes. Anyone else have this issue?
Just installed, took like 3 mins and it runs ok, they added new icons: amazon Mp3, Myaccount, Shazam and T-Mobile Help... my account and t-help icons are useless they dont do anything, still testing, i saw some improvements like faster reading from memory, now when i insert the sd card with a bunch of images, videos and music it takes less time reading them, the only issue that i got was that im unable to run android cuz it gets a weird screen and it does nothing, but if i get some problem i'll post it ok? thx!
what does the update even do?

- Browsing Facebook photos is slow
- White screen while browsing the internet
- Cannot delete GMAIL messages from the preview screen
- SMS sends to the wrong person
- Twitter errors
- Cannot unlock the phone
- Cannot unlock the phone with the correct password
- No space bar on company directory keyboard
- Can’t hear Visual Voicemails
- Speakerphone stops working after using the Call Assist app to call 611

I just updated to 2.13 the other day, and I put a custom ROM on my phone that I really really like alot since my phone seems to respond better to this one with no small lag. I have a question though, if I update to 3.14 will I loose the ability to put the custom ROM back on the phone or is it safe to update and put the custom ROM back in?
hi,
I have stock ROM 2.13.531.1
i recently installed HSPL3 and radio 2.15.50.14
now my quuestion is will i be able to install the new ROM without any problem? i dont want to brick my phone. Also will i be able to install the same radio 2.15.50.14 after installing the new stock ROM.
Hopefully htc have fixed the sms bug coz everytime i get a new sms my whole phone freezes for like 5 sec. and its really killing me.
thanks guys
OK, thanks to everyone here I finally flashed my HD2 and I liked it a lot. I tried the Energy Rom and Core Cell Rom and they both worked great and have there advantages. But I have a new question now. I want to change my phone back to stock, which stock rom should I download? And is the installlation process the same as flashing the phone with a custom rom?
hmmm...
im assumin you have a tmous HD2. if so you can find the original tmobile rom on their website. just search for hd2 software update on the search portion. same as here, you can find it. just gotta look and not ask a question when you can find it yourself. also i think this question doesnt belong under this thread mayb under HD2 general..
http://support.t-mobile.com/doc/tm54430.xml thats helpful... use it to flash back..
ok, thanks for the help. but i have a question and something else as well. I clicked on the link and read over everything it says:
NOTE: The software update is only designed to update the ROM version from 2.10.531.1 and 2.13.531.1 to 3.14.531.1. If at any point the software was changed from 2.10.531.1 or 2.13.531.1 by flashing to unsupported software, sometimes called rooting or hacking, then we strongly recommend you do not perform this update, as it was not designed to update unsupported software.
It seems like their saying don't use this update if I flashed another rom besides the stock rom which it came with. So exactly what do I do from here? Not trying to sound slow or anything, but I want to becareful with these things. And besides I don't have a spare phone to use and would hate to brick this one up. Any help is appreciated.
I got my TMOUS HD2 yesterday and to go around customs, I asked if the seller could flash there nonbootable ROM, which I made (HTC Oboe XIP and no IMGFS to be sure it wouldn't boot ). When it arrived, I just flashed the 3.14 ROM without single errors and keeping HSPL2.
Do it, there won't be problems .
this thread came in time. today i got a message from tmobile indicating that there is a new update available. i wanna give it a shot and if i don't like it then I'm going to upgrade to the cell core v3 since i've been using v2 for a while
hi guys
pls help me out. i m a new t mobile hd user. have the stock rom. used one week without problem. then phone started to repeatedly get stuck. initially when phone is switched on, the screen wont come on for 15 minutes. but the hard buttons were flashing. this would spontaneously recover. later phone started to get stuck while being used and in standby mode. i thought it could be due to cookie home tab and other software recently installed. so uninstalled all of that, but, no result.
then i accidentally switched to "swype" (i was using the htc keyboard). then it really became mad! needed to soft reset repeatedly. the moment i try to type something ( swype mode is still on. cant switch back to the usual kb, it gets stuck) phone gets stuck, needing soft reset. finallly went for hard reset.
1. is this a known issue with hd2? (somebody told me so)
2. how can i overcome this? would a cooke rom like the energy rom help?
3. whats wrong with swype ????
please, anything to help guys....
Yes if you install a custom ROM especially a Energy ROM you can kiss all that bad behavior good bye, unless you have a hardware problem. But from what you said it sounds like tipicial glitchy stock Windows Mobile bad behavior.
Also to turn off Swype you have to touch on the little triangle arrow beside the keyboard symbol at the bottom of the keyboard. This will bring up a menu box just select to use the standard keyboard and not Swype.

the problem is the moment the swype key board appears on screen, it becomes stuck. no key works after that. only option is a soft reset. is it safe to do the rom flash by myself? where can i find a detaild guide to do it? and what rom do you recommend? in the htc site i noted that there is a newer update to my stock rom. how would that rom workout?
If HTC has a update ROM for your HD2 I say go for that one first they should have a detailed set of instructions on the site you download it from. Most ofctge update official ROMs are 3.14 ROMs andcthe 3.14 ROMs are alot more stable considering they are stock ROMs. I do recomemd a Energy ROM if you want to try a custom ROM just read through and look at all the screen shots in the first couple of post in the thread that are by the dev of the ROMs and pick Wichita ROM he had there that you like the looks and sound of best. You can most definitely flash the ROMs yourself be it official or custom.

i have installed the new 3.14 rom. seemed ok for one day. but problems are back. when i switch on the phone, the home screen comes on as normal. after i switch to standby mode and try to start phone again the screen stays blank for about 10 minutes. the hard buttons are flashing though. after 5 min, spontaneouly recovers and again problem occurs when switched off and restarts.
any suggestion pls? do u think i should go for a cooked rom? and in which departments do the cooked roms are better than the stock? can the dutties task manager cause this problem? (i hv it installed at the moment.}

Do yourself a big favour & try energy ROM such as Dinik 29017 (my preffered version is 23699)

These ROMs are good, make sure you follow instructions & read up on it before flashing.
Get HSPL 2.08 on your HD2 & make sure your radio version is compatible & then flash Energy ROM of your choice ...
Top tip is charge battery 100% before flashing (seem to reduce battery calibration problems & can be of benefit if you run into problems, also a hard reset after custom ROM has completed first boot is good practice.
Also have some patience & give yourself time to adjust to the new ROM, asking a few questions & doing some searching will be far more productive than flashing to another ROM because of a problem.
Good luck & maybe I see you in the Energy ROM thread ...
thanks very much guys.

Out of interest which Energy ROM did you install.
You can check for updates by looking at thread & seeing date of latest release, going for latest releases & build numbers does not always give best results. Sometimes old is gold ;-) Best to settle into your current ROM & only update if things you deem important are updated/added.
Have fun with Energy ROM, well set up it makes Android & iphone look limited & outdated & seriously has some useful features Android is missing such as Auto APN setup & organised apps & settings menu & a far more advanced mail app to mention just a few.
