Hi,
Im going to upgrade the ROM on my TyTn, but before I do I would like to backup the original WM5 ROM so I can put it back if something goes wrong. Can anyone tell me how to do it please?
Steve
Hey bro, Just moved your question over to the general area for hermes..
Honestly dude. there is a bunch of apps to backup your data.. do some searching for what fits you best.. when you flash a rom though it's like formatting your pc.. all your data is gone because of the new OS running.
pimbackup
SpbBackup
SpriteBackup
etc etc
thanks mate. Ive always used spb backup, just didnt realise it backed up the rom.
It doesn't... Look in the General section, you might find an app to rip the rom from your Hermes, or Josh might know how to dump it from your Hermes.
I believe he misunderstood the question.
Cheers....

Ok I want to do a full Backup of my Herald, so if it crash that i can go into Windows, fire up a program, pressing "restore old ROM" and it is the way i had backuped it.
I know some programs, that are storing backup datas like sms, contacts etc. - but thats not enough for me.
So is there a program that can fulfill my needs?
( and yes, i read a lot in the forum here - but i didn't found anything or i'm just a bit blind )

When you do a backup of your ppc with spb backup, it will backup everything that is on your device (ROM) that is not part of the ROM itself.
It means that all programs installed after a hard reset, all the databases (mails, contacts, notifications,...) all the registry, and all files not being part of the ROM.
So if you do a hard reset and you restore the backup it will be exactly the same as it when you did the backup. And I think that it is what you want.
Caution, if you do an OS up/downgrade, your backup is useless. This backup cannot be either installed on another device.
Cheers,
Fred
ok sweet - ty fred. another question: what if i changed the ROM - how to backup that ? no solution yet?

This is device dependent. With some of them, it is possible, with others it's not, for several reasons. If you don't find tools or someone who managed to do it and provided the way to do so, well you're stuck... I think dumping is not the biggest problem, the real problem is the restore stuff. Sorry, but it is so.
Cheers,
Fred
hehe ok ok - i would be a step closer to my goal if i would find a way to unlock the ROM/ break into, so i can change files in there...

What do you mean? If you're talking about doing it 'live', forget about that. But if you're talking about changing the contents of the Rom before doing the upgrade, well the tools are already existing and kitchens too (depending on the device)
Cheers,
Fred

It should be an official Rom, am I right? If it is the case, download it on the official site and use NBHExtract to get the dump of the .nbh file and rebuild it. Have a look in hermes forum and in xda-wiki
Cheers,
Fred
Yeah it is official, but the thing is: there are no downloads avaiable yet. and thats the point so i'm a bit stucked here...

On the wiki page, I found this:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Herald_Upgrades
hehe been there almost 6 times today - and if you try to download them, they would fail.
And the thing is: my current ROM versions exceeds hell of the versions on that page. so why should i use the old ones ? thats not really what i want to :/

Spb can only back up your installed softs or games /data in your existing Rom. It can not back up Rom!
Happy New Year!

Can someone confirm this?
I'd also like to be able to backup my whole device, so in case something goes wrong or I want to send my phone back for repair I can backup my Swedish stock ROM, which hasn't been uploaded here yet.
Backup
Sorry, I have to correct my post above - SPB Backup is recommended for saving, SPB Clone will mainly copy!! settings on one´s device to share it to others (within an enterprise e.g. to mantain same pre-configurations) = According to a poorly translated side from SPB.
Sorry
you have for case changed in regional setting the language or specific the currency? from £ to € or other? I have the same single problem if I modify the currency
Please help me, don't told me download ROM ship
Thanks
What are you trying to do?
Please try to explain as clearly as possible.

Don't be an ass. For all you know english might not be the OP's primary language. If you arent going to help, then don't bother posting. Besides, its been close to a month without a reply, so I doubt the OP is coming back.

Sorry, I thought this was an english speaking forum. My mistake.
Ok think he was asking how to if possible one could back up the factory rom on the imagio.
This is something I am looking at doing myself if possible. OR if not possible by the average guy at home with a little know how if you can get a copy of the original rom that came on the phone from verizon.
I have motorolas and the blackberry storm (9530) but messed with the HTCs till the one I have now.
Thanks in advance.

In ROM development section you can find an "original" ROM from Verizon, if you want to install again your Imagio. If you want to backup data and settings you can look for programs as Data Backup... I ignore if you can backup entirely your Imagio (ROM, data and settings). I'm testing the Teya 181 and it has and option for backup settings. I have installed another program for my personal data
Hi everyone!!
Well, this is not my first time flashing an android ROM on my HD2, but... this is my first time with Clockwork!
And, I'm lost...
I want this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=902013
And I really don't know how this work, 'cause even if I check the forum about clockwork mod ( yep, I'm french! ), I don't get it...
So, does anyone can make a step by step installation for me please? This will be the only things I'll ask, it's just to understand how to used CWM!
Just, imagine I only got a fresh install of MAGLDR 1.11, and... please tell me what to do next! I don't know if I should partition My SD card, or if CWM do it himself, or etc.
For this one, I don't want the data on my FAT32 partition's, but on the ext3/4(? don't know what I must choose between those ) partition.
And, really, thanks for all that's really great work on our HD2! Probably the best Mobile I'd get in my life!!
PS: as I told it before, sorry for my bad english, I'm french... thank you.
well you should post aboit it in lesjaws post and not here..
anyway, have a look on my post #964
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11174148&postcount=964
in JawsMIUI so thats may help you or if not and you will still have a probs with something just post it there not here. Not everyone checking all posts here on XDA so you have a better chance someone will help you cos all user of JawsMIUI checking the posts about JawsMIUI. And many are actually subscribed to it like me so I always receive notification email if some new is posted there.
And about ext partition, u need to know so many people have an issues with this option including me so I using data.img instead and its woks great.

Well, I can't post in the android ROM forum, 'cause I'm new and I need at least 10 post to post message in this section... that's why I made a topic like this!
thanks for your tutorial, it will really help me!
I always prefer ext partition... but if you tell me data is okay, well, I'm gonna try it! Some people tell me they have problem with data corrupted...
By the way, does data use the battery, less, more or equal to ext partitions?
you're welcome.
You can also express your gratitude in just clicking the thanks-icon at the bottom of my post.
About the battery usage, I can't tell u if there is a difference between ext & data.img cos ext didn't work for me and after I haven't tried it anymore.
EDIT:Let me know if u need any more help and also post the info when u finish the flash and if is all OK.
Cheers
