Well my media panel used to work fine. I could play music and watch the video clips that came with it. Now when I try to play music or watch videos the screen goes black like it's gonna start, then it just jumps back to the menu like nothing ever happened.
I think it's CorePlayer that's messing it up... must be something with the file extensions but I turned them all off and it still doesn't work. Any ideas?
Well I guess I'll just hard reset and check the media panel after I install anything
I have the same problem. I always have Core Player installed. I just removed the media panel thinking it was sh*te
Same on my Xperia I think it was after i installed the Manila HD or the youtube cab.
I tried it with Uninstall the Manila HD but nothing happend.
i hope somebody will find a fix for the media panel, i really like it
PS: sorry for my bad english

have you install youtube by any chance recently?
it'll break the media panel, as well as the camera playback function.
if so, you may have to hard-reset, and install this version of youtube instead
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=446692
that's until itje or daran release a fix on their respective CAB ...
tried your CAB but the mediapanel is still not working on my device

unfortuantely, you need to hard reset in order for the CAB to work.
alternatively, if you do not wish to hard reset, change this registry to see if it'll help (this is the problematic registry, but this wouldn't undo the system files that are overwritten)
HKCU\CLSID\{C4EF1AB7-F52D-4e83-8C74-0C512FB7EA43}\InprocServer32
make sure Default=HTCSrcFlt3.dll (not HTCSrcFlt2.dll)
okay what is the right order if i hard reset my device ?
i used this cab for the Manila HD
and this for installing the Manila Panel.
PS: youtube doesn't work on my X1 (a german one )
and thanks zenkinz for your fast reply

somebody has reported that the manila cab with the built-in youtube will not break 3gp/mp4 playback, are you not experiencing the same?
my CAB is tested with TF3DHD by Daran, and you can install my Youtube CAB, TF3DHD and TF3D Panel CAB in any order. You don't need to install any other CAB such as Dshow or mHubVO, and in fact, I've not tested if these other CABs (other than TF3DHD and Panel) will break the CAB that I have put together.
PS: I hardcode the installed files to \Windows directory, if your German ROM uses a different Windows directory name, I need to change.
OMG sorry for the trouble i testet another mp3 file (the standart one) and it worked.
but i dont understand this my music worked a few day ago andnow they wont work
well sorry for that
same problems to me, too.
most time the x1 player will not start selected mp3.
it jumps back to track selection. but once, the player played a few pieces of songs.
i will check the reg hint, today.
This works!!

This registry fix does in fact work. I applied it and both the native video camera player and the multimedia panel player worked. YouTube in the TF3D panel continued to work too.
Great job! Thanks!!!

Just curious... how do you get album art to appear in the multimedia panel for playing mp3's? I loaded the album art in iTunes and Winamp, both don't seem to work. Although when I play the songs in coreplayer, the album art comes up...

I added the album art with mp3tag.
I used ID3 v2.3. I tried to use ID3 v2.4 but there are no album covers on the media panel so i returned to ID3 v2.3.
You can easy change that in options of mp3tag
ok guys
Instead of starting a new thread I'll post a comment here....
My problem is not a broken emdiapanel but a missing media panel.
I got a prototype from work(SonyEricsson) and it's one of the earlier prototypes and I'm missing a media panel on it. I tried to copy the media panel from the "program files" folder in a another Xperia phone, put that didn't work ofcourse....
So I'm wondering if there's a way to Impliment that panel???
I'm probably the only one with this problem but I'd appreciate help though
THANKS

see if it works if you create the following registry
hklm\software\sonyericsson\panelmanager\Panels\MediaExperiencePanel
Desc="The Media Xperience Panel"
DLL="\Program Files\Panels\MediaExperiencePanel\MxPPanel.dll"
Landscape="\Program Files\Panels\MediaExperiencePanel\Resources\MxP_Landscape_Thumb.bmp"
LargeLandscape="\Program Files\Panels\MediaExperiencePanel\Resources\MxP_Landscape.bmp"
LargePortrait="\Program Files\Panels\MediaExperiencePanel\Resources\MxP_Portrait.bmp"
Led=0
Name="Media Xperience Panel"
Portrait="\Program Files\Panels\MediaExperiencePanel\Resources\MxP_Portrait_Thumb.bmp"
RequiredVersion=100
I'll just post my problem here aswell then;
When I try to view a video trough the media panel, media player or the camera application it just gives me a lot of loud static sounds and a black screen.
When trying to use youtube it loads the name of the movies but when I click them it says "Error: Cannot play this video".
I think, judging from what others have said, that the TF3D cab is causing this problem. I still got the "old" one but I wouldnt understand why installing the new one would solve my problem (if it does; please let me know and I'll try it, just dont want to do anything reckless atm).
There's been some suggestions in this topic for registry fixes, would those work for me aswell? Also, I dont even know how to alter the registry in the first place..

Playlists?
Does anyone know of a way of importing WMP11 playlists into the Media panel playlists? Don't really want to recreate and add all of my tracks into the Media panel playlists-they do not appear to be compatible withe each other!
Regards,
Alan

I haven't seen this problem before. Like always my first question: Have you tried a hard-reset?

I have not, because i don't want to lose the tons of setting and personalization. I spent hours to configure everything to my tastes and i don't want to lose that. I bet one of the cabs i installed, probably the core player or the youtube one (didn't work) messed up the codecs. Isn't there a way to install/reinstall the video codecs?
same thing has happened to me last week, had to hard reset, couldn't find an answer anywhere.

Do you have any idea why did it happen? Did you install something that messed it up? Were you able to play movies on the media panel?
There must be a way to repair it without hard reset.
nope changed nothing, today i've had to soft reset twice to get video to play through media player , all i was getting was sound but again it played through core player. but i'm not getting any error messages now.

ROFL
So you are saying you didn't install anything before your wmp mobile stopped working properly?
and btw what kind of program/converter do u use for your movies. I have used a dozen or so but i never got a nice quality fullscreen vid that didn't jump from time to time. Core player plays avi but i still need to lower the quality and/or bitrate otherwise its laggy.
I noticed something else is wrong with the media panel. The music and pics icons show the number of files in the phone but fail to display the actual items and there are no items to click on. The vids are sometimes shown and sometimes not, but even if they are visible when i click on them the screen turns black for a few moments and then goes back to the vids icon.

If you start tinkering with your phone, you can expect to run into problems every now and then, forcing you to hard-reset. Use user customization compatible ROM's and just create your settings if you intend to keep on tinkering.
Youtube might be the cause. Try and uninstall, see what it does. Coreplayer should not affect the panel, but one never knows.
First I need to know; do you use a custom ROM? If so, trying uninstalling/reinstalling the media panel.

Check the video thread in this forum for more information on playing video on the X1.

ROM is the regular x1i and i really don't want to use any custom ROMs. Hard reseting is the solution for everything but i don't want to lose all my settings and stuff. I guess the key to the problem is in the fact that both the media panel and wmp mobile don't work properly. I can uninstall youtube player and the panel but what about the patch and the reg entry files? I downloaded all 4 from the sticky thread in this forum.
Update:
When i click on a vid the wmp mobile no longer plays it with sound and black screen, now it has a weird clicking sound. Having in mind that the media panel doesn't play mp3s any more, it seems to me that it is both the video and audio codecs that got damaged or deleted.
I installed the program Sun High MediaPlayer but it didn't work. So, I then tried to remove the software without success.
Now my windows media player doesn't want to launch. So, I tried to install the core player but it doesn't launch either. Worse it froze my device and I have to soft reset!
Then, I downloaded a cab file (SJ WMP_10) on xda to reinstall wmp ... but I get the message that it doesn't have the authorization to install and then the device froze and I have to soft reset! Ouch!
Can somebody help me:
1) to recover my wmp?
2) recommend a player for mp4 files
thanks a lot and happy new year!
it looks to me like that Sun Player has damaged some of the windows media library... if you havn't got much on your hd, maybe hard reseting will be faster than trying to find a solution?
Hard reset was indeed the solution. Thanks.
Need some help here, I cannot play videoes in Album, not even the standard sample video, anyone know what can be wrong?
can you view a photo?and i mean viewing one...not preview..maybe the album lost the folder location
I had this problem one time before... with 1.93 ROM
I dont know what caused it...
I did a hard reset, and after that the videos worked again...
imho, htc fullscreen player missing.
My HD2 has stopped allowing me to view HD2 recorded movies within the built in HTC album application - if I press the large play button on screen nothing happens. I can play the movies ok in Coreplayer. The still images are OK and the first frame of the movie displays behind the play button - it is just that movie cannot be played.
Any ideas would be most welcome.
Thanks
Hi Tony, I'm new to the phone (and believe it or not Mobiles in general !) and had this same problem today. I managed to overcome it by taking out the battery for a second, worked no problem after that so hope it helps you

Thanks for the tip but I have had this issue for a while and have tried soft resets and powering fully off and then back on already - all to no avail . I suspect it is a file association related thing but if so would expect the video to play in another application at least when I press the large play button.
