Greetings !
I am the proud owner of Qtek 9000 for sometime now.
Recently i was given a second unit, that at first look has a broken lcd.
The person who gave me the broken Qtek 9000 said that it had fallen off and then started to have the screen problem.
When powered on, the lcd displays blue and white lines during the width of the screen and the backlit does not come on.
If i plug the device to a Win XP machine, its get recognized and trying to sync
I assume the device must be working and this is an lcd only problem, although i have not synced it.
After reading around the forum and looking at the service manual on the wiki, i have disassembled the unit to see if any of the lcd connects got loose during the fall.
It seems that all connectors are in place, so my next task is to find if the lcd screen or lcd harness (cables) are broken.
Does anyone have any idea what i should replace ?
I have the same problem with red and white lines
Do you find what is wrong ???do you change the screen?
Welcome to forums
Try to do a hard reset (instructions on the Wiki), if not working perhaps you have to replace it, have a look on marketplace, one member is selling one
Good luck,

do I need special tools to fit this?
Hello just for information,
I broke my trinity screen and I baught a new screen to a HK seller and i replace it.
I had already flash the firmware (faman 3.6 full) before changing the screen.
So everything seems ok when I put the phone power on but As soon as I put the creen off, I am unable to put it on it appears every time in a complete white screen !!!! to have something on the screen I have to reboot the phone.
I just reflash the phone again with faman 3.6 and it's still the thame problem completly white after turn the screen off then on ...
I try also an official orange WM5 (gps active) and the screen work's well i try after to switch again in WM6 and it doest work :white screen again ...
Can every one help me ?
@ Rich: Check the 'How to dissamble the Trinity' thread. Are your sure that the LCD is broken ? Could also be just the digitizer (USD 8 at cnn.cn.shop).
If you succeed to dissamble the display you should be able to attach a new digitizer.
The only problem are the two black levers ... (one for the display cable, one for the digitizer).
Good luck
Christian
I cracked my Trinity screen with a bad golf swing. Then I bought a replacement screen on ebay, found a disasembly guide, took my trinity apart, replaced the screen, put everything back together, and it works fine! cost me 70 EUR to fix it.
do it following the disassembly guide - taking the trinity apart is rather complicated, you will not figure it out by yourself.
Sometimes I wonder what the engineers drink before designing such complex assemblies!
I need help...
My T-Mobile MDA can power up but it will just stay on a white screen & after awhile, the backlight time-out & swtiches off.
Tapping the screen or the power button will bring it back on.
All the buttons seem to be responding & the system sound comes on when I press some buttons.
What might be wrong?
Several soft reset will not bring me to the standard screen.
Is it a hardware issue or software issue?
Please advice me what I should do to recover from this situation.
Thanks!
konker
Update:
I finally performed a clean reset & the standard WM5 "tring" sound came on.
At least, the system board is working fine.
But nothing appeared on the screen except for the greyish-white background.
I also brought the MDA into the bootloader mode but I don't see the Tri-colour screen.
What should I do next?
I noticed from the MDA Service Manual that there's a flex board for connecting the screen/front panel buttons to the system board.
Could that be cause of my problem? Or is it the LCD screen giving me problem?
Please, anyone who has experience with this issue, I appreciate any help I can get.
TIA!!
Is your MDA out of warranty? Do you have insurance? If no and I were you I would probably take it apart and check for a loose or bad connection. You got the service manual you should be good to go.

bendog2784,
My MDA has no more warranty nor insurance.
I took the plunge & disassembled it.
I made sure all connections are clean & tight before reassembling the unit.
The screen still stayed greyish-white.
This morning, I screen suddenly turned on but for a brief moment.
It seems that when I slide out the screen (or slide out the keyboard), half way through when 2/3 of the k/b is exposed, the screen looks just as it should.
Beyond that it will blank out, kinda like a device having been put to hard reset from an operational state...except that the backlight stays on & then greyish lines start to appear.
So now, I'm not sure if it's the screen that's causing problem or the flex cable.
The flex cables are very hard to find where I'm & very costly too, judging from eBay auction listed.
Would appreciate any help to revive the screen of my MDA.
Thanks!

What happened to your LCD that prompted you to replace it?
Did it crack?
If mine was cracked & there were fragmented display showing through, I would have gotten a replacement LCD with no questions asked.
However, in my case, the LCD is not showing anything other than a greyish white shade no matter what I do to the hardware.
I'm not sure it is a LCD problem as I mentioned above that yesterday, I got it to work for a short period of time at a certain position.
That said, I can get a replacement LCD for my MDA for less than US$25 here.
If it is an intermittent problem (as you described) I'd check the flex cable again.
try to reseat the connector that goes to the LCD (the large one that is locked in place with orange tape and the little brown clip on the connector itself).
help

Dear friends
After opening my Hermes a few times I encountered the white screen, I disassembled and assembled again, the display was completely off. I thought the flex cable could be wrong. So, at first I tried to use a soldering gun to seal all solderings (Photo 1). This time the phone showed a part of display. Because, the symptom was not the same, I guest contact between the flex cable and the mainboard had problem. I used point of a knife (make it blunt first) move down to push contacts out (Photo 2). Then I assembled my phone, everything returned normal. (9h in the morning to 11h in evening to make my heart cheerful again ).
I write my experience here for someone who open their phone and encounter the symptom like me.
Good luck.
Sadly didn't work for me. Stil no backlight!

I had a problem with no backlight but fixed it when I replaced the flywheel. I was trying to update a replacement jasjam I'd bought off of ebay but when I replaced the new flywheel with the old the backlight wasn't displayed so I tried the old motherboard with the new flywheel and the backlight was on. I don't know how it affects the backlight but it did. If you can get your hands on a cheap bung phone or have a REALLY trusting friend then try that.
Cheers...

Sorry mate, what do you mean with the flywheel? English is not my mother language and what I have found in the net for that word does not mean anything to me. Can you provide me with a better explanation? I do have the same problem as the guy which writes above you.
Cheers
The little wheel on the side of the Hermes. I replaced the board That has it on it and it fixed the backlight issue.
Ok I need help from the gods of xda
I dropped my tilt the other day. When I picked it up everything seemed fine, yet the screen was completely white. No signs of cracks or a broken lcd. So I've tried the following: Soft reset, Hard reset, took out the battery, took apart the phone and disconnected the lcd and then re connected it. Still the same problem. WHITE SCREEN!
I can still receive/make calls, when i touch the screen in places where i remember the menus to be it still responds due to the noise, also the open and close noise still sounds.
The phone was bought new on Ebay, so i don't have a warranty through them or AT&T. After much research I hear people saying the same has happened to their phones as well and that there is a ribbon or flex cable problem. Something about still giving power to the LCD but not data, thus the white screen.
Now what I dont understand is do I need a new LCD because it has that ribbon/flex cable on it???? (link)
or
Do I need this product?(link)
Both contain a "flex cable" so im confused and frustrated, someone please help! any ideas would help

hi there, would it be possible to post the link to ebay item? i also need a new touch-screen.tnanks
I am curious about this as well. I have a friend who has a hermes and he mentioned to me that that his screen was starting to go white like explained here. I look at his phone and I also noticed that the bottom hardware keys were not working at all.
I am wondering if this same ribbon cable for the LCD would also be the same one for the bottom keypad and if I fix the screen the keys will become active again.
Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks,

Tuck in for a long read and perhaps no single answer for all cases:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=303872
In short, yes the d/pad cable and LCD screen connections are linked which is why it is not uncommon for the white screen to show up when the d/pad is not working.
To the OP - I would just point out that if you get the white screen after a fall it may just be a loose connection at the d/pad and no need for new parts.
Dismantling instructions here:
www.mikechanon.net
But let's not start discussing the white screen here, please use the first link I gave above if you need to post.

a user i dont recall now his name, fixed is whitescreen by replacing the camera, open the device and remove the camera module, reassemble to test.
Hi to everyone.
I dropped my wizard and lcd broke so I bought a new one and put it on. The problem is that although it takes phone calls and it syncs to pc, the screen is always white with nothing written..only a white screen. I do not know whether another problem occured besides the broken lcd. I tried to disassemble and reassemble it again but with no success. Any help please?
Hi, If my understanding is correct there are 2 versions of LCD for the Wizard. Are you sure that you have the right one? I'm sorry that I am unable to offer any further advice except to say that if the phone 'phones' and 'syncs' the basics must be working. Also the white screen means that the backlight is working - the problem is the LCD drive. Perhaps worth checking with your replacement supplier that they sent you the correct part?
Good luck!
