Non-working Programms because of W-VGA ? Try this..

I read alot in the Blackstone section and I guess some Blackstone owners missed this little tool :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442426
I posted it for the X1 but since the resolution of the X1 and the Blackstone is the same..
I hope it will work on the Blackstone too
It works nicely with emulators, SKYFIRE Beta 0.85 etc etc .

A week ago I received my X1 and tried WVGA Fix (Version 1) ! It didnt work...
After some searching i found a improved Version -WVGA FIX 2- now supporting all WM 5, 6, 6.1 and WVGA devices.
This little Program virtually "cuts" the pixels bigger than VGA from your device.
Dont get scared.. This only happens as long as you run the program.
Those pixels get black and the program emulates a VGA screen.
When you choose to get back to WVGA everything is fine again
So most programms (not only emulators) will work fine on our nice WVGA screen.
I thought some people here will love this tool too.
PS:Install the cert first, then WVGA FIX2 second.
Cheers !

Tried it already, Pocket UFO runs thanks to it.
Thanks! This has allowed me to try out SkyFire...

It doesn't work for me.
It change allways the display to landscape before freezing.
Hmm, SCUMMVM ???
yup I missed that... nice, definitely allows me to run some apps that otherwise screwed up... Especially skyfire
@vincent1: yes the rotation is annoying and not required, but it does Not freeze your phone. Your display mode changes and you still see the fix app running but it's just a frozen screen, press the today hard button and you will see manila, which instantly forces the screen to rotate back to portrait, after which you got normal VGA screen (except part of manila is missing). Now you can run any vga app you like. Just switch back to the fix program to undo the res change, press home again to fix the landscape mode, etc.
@nin2thevoid
thanks mate! Yep, pressing the today hard button is the secret

NP... I use AEButton by the way and have assigned long press of the volume up button to rotate the screen clockwise (I don't always like g sensors to do this for me). This gives an instant fix to this problem as well, and it un-freezes the program instantly.

I can confrim the above and the only way to solve it is to take the battery out as the screen does not react to tap.
hi
any news about this ?
Because I'm getting the same problem
I've tried this and it doesn't work on my HD. the phone becomes unusable.
Is there any other software to enable VGA programs? I'd like to run PocketUFO again.
any good for the hd2 ?.

Found solution for Slow HTCAlbum 3.0 (maybe intere

Interesting for Chefs!!
Have you ever noticed that the Album version of the new Roms is very laggy in sliding between the pictures when you turn your phone in landscape mode?
I found 5 min ago a solution when playing with the registry, in which the Album slides smooth in Landscape AND you can use the picture overview in Landscape.
In
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\HTCAlbum]
Edit the "rotate" entry to "0"

i think it's useful for chef as it can easily be included in rom instead making us fiddle with the registry
what exactly does this improve? is it sliding between pictures when viewing full screen landscape or when the device is rotated on the photos tab?
if its the first, then it can also be accomplished by removing the entries in the Gsensor whitelist - thats how ive been doing it.
Great find.
Not only does it improve the landscape viewing, but it avoids/solves a bug in the recent HTC albums where you could confuse the sliding sequence when changing the physical position of the HD while continuing to slide.

I donĀ“t see any improvement....maybe someone can upload a video?
I really like this feature to work...!!!
Thks.
Too bad it doestn't work for me. In portrait mode, the pictures slide very smooth. In landscape mode it's still choppy and slow, even with this change in the register and a softreset. I think it has something to do with the g-sensor. Is it possible to totally disable the g-sensor or at least when turning the phone in album..?
I've tried about 6 different roms and they all have this problem, i hope someone can fix this.

It's first
But the difference is, that the picture view (this where all pictures are listed in a grid) could be used in landscape mode furthermore.
With the removing of the whitelist this would be impossible!

No problem
The only thing I wish is that there are no more laggy HTCAlbums in new Roms *ggg*

Which version of HTCAlbum do you have? You see the version also in the Registry path were the tweak has to be added.
I tried it with Dutty Holy Grail R0 2.1 And the Album version is 3.0
And I don't have to make a soft reset... wierd...
Great discovery can you do that for the calculator and htc music
MOD EDIT
Moved to General discussion forum
i have noticed that roms with os 6.5.1 has a very fast rotation and fast scrolling in landscape mode both for pictures and music (i just check on chinehe v.2.3)
and the rotation registry value is still "1"
so, maybe the solution for slow rotation and scrolling can be found starting from here + terrorhuhn discovery
a smart guy could find it and share for us

To speed up scrolling through pics in landscape go to HKLM/Software/HTC/HTCScroll and change "velocity_factor". It's set at 10000 and I've changed it to 20000. You might want to set it to 40000 just to see the increase in speed and then back it down from there. This setting will also increase scrolling speed in, among other things, the favorites tab, internet tab, and increase scrolling through albums in the music tab while in landscape. This tweak may very well be the one in HD Tweak, I'm not sure, but whatever the case, you can set it how you like.
