Hi all,
lately my camera has started to take ages (2-3 minutes) to save a photo each time I take a shot.
Needless to say, this makes using the camera pretty prohibitive.
I've tried it on both internal and SD card storage, and the problem is the same.
Anyone else have the same issue? Any thoughts / solutions?
Thanks in advance
Pete
are you using stock ROM or cooked(and which)? have you changed registry settings? have you used HD Tweak(which fyi changes registry settings)? If so, that may very well be your culprit.
One thing that came to mind was a corruption in your SD card and to check try:
http://www.softwinter.com/storagetools.html
But, you say also that on main memory this problem exists. So, this sounds more like a ROM settings problem.
Standard ROM, but I have used Advanced Config Tool.
I reset to default settings, but problem still exists.
I have plenty of space on both the internal memory and SD card, so it's not a space issue, but I wonder if it might be a fragmentation issue?
Is there a fragmentation checker applicable? Is it possible to defrag the memory?
Thanks for your help so far...

The other day I took a whole lot of pictures and wanted to transfer them to my laptop only to discover that they were all gone. Completely! The folder still exists but there are no pictures whatsoever. Everything else on the SD card is untouched. The pictures were there before, I looked at them on the way home.
Has this ever happened to anyone else? I'm not sure what I did wrong and how this happened.
Does anybody know how to restore those pictures? I found some programs for data recovery but none of them work with SD cards inside PPCs.
Any help would be much appreciated!

UPDATE:
I just saw that the camera saves to the device but not to the SD car at all. Anybody know how to fix this?
Hanmin: GetBackData can't be installed on the Prophet and if I install it on my laptop there is no option to restore data on a device that's plugged in. At least I didn't find any...
This happend to me too. I don't know why. I could not recover my pictures. To allow the Camera function to save new pictures in the memory card again I had to delete the already empty 'My Pictures' folder in the memory card.
I looked at the Registry and found the paths in saveto for pictures and videos were different, I edited it to point to the memory card.
Jayxz: you're supposed to use the Data Recovery software on your PC, using a memory card reader to access the card.
You should be aware though, if you've used the card at all since the problem, you may have permanently lost your data.
You can find specialist apps to go through, sector by sector, finding jpgs etc, but if the original data is corrupted, it'll be messy.

Yes, I and others had this problem. Some solved after taking the card in and out a few times combined with a few soft re-sets. Others found they had to do a hard reset. Soft reset (a few and card in and out a few times ) worked for me and its recognised it ever since. As a side note someone I read about had some Lan network download installed and camera kept offering a choice of saving to main memory or to the network but not SD card. This was solved by uninstalling the LAN software - might not affect you though.
Let's know how you get on.
Mike
thanks...
will give it a try
Hi guys.
I had a similar issue after installing V-Mobile Network Browser and making network folders local. I was prompted with the option of where to save my pictures to everytime I opened the camera. Also when I went into the camera settings (not using the memory icon on the camera screen) to change the memory location I was offered the choice of 'Main Memory' or 'Network' to save my pics. This is what led me to believe it was Network Browser settings causing the problem. All I done was disable the network folders being local, when into the camera and set it up to save the pics to the memory card then re-enabled local network folders and everything has been fine since.

Yeh, same problem here. I setup the Network folder before installing my m-SD card. The camera appears to only pickup the 'first' storage device when it initialises. If that is the Network folder, then it will fail when not connected to the net.
I used the same method already suggested of turning off the Network folder, re-setting up the camera to use the m-SD card. I have yet to reenable the network folder so it is good to hear that it does continue to work.
i had the same problem and made a registry edit at HKCU\Software\HTC\Camera\4.00\Camera\Strings\... I changed the entry for "Save Location" from Main Memory to Storage Card. Now all pics and videos are saved in the root folder of my storage card.
thanks ..the issue is now resolved. I applied the registry fix..
Now i just hope that other users would be aware of the fix
thanks to all of you guys ..er and ladies who helped.
I've my Uni for a short time, have never updated the firmware and I don't have that many apps on it.

But I have no storage memory at all. I've searched and cleared internet explore files; checked no long recordings or videos in memory I have some CAB files on my card but thats it. what could be causing this issue? I've tried SKTOOLS and WIR(where is my ram) but at most I get a couple of KB's back and then it goes back to low memory. Could it be a memory leakage problem? any and help appreciated
Anybody??
Wow, no one else has or had this issue?
Maybe it is time to clean up and do a hard reset. I know... I hate doing it too.

Yeah, you could be right, I was hoping it might be something elese that I might have missed. Thanks though.
Hey are you a TH fan by any chance your call name looks familar?
After fixing a problem that I had with the newest cooked ROMs I bumped into another issue. Now every time I reset my Device my Manila works very slow for 3-4 min. I tried reflashing using MTTY with different ROMs but the problem persists. I looked in my Task Manager and discovered a process that overloads my CPU. Please find screen capture attached. I would appreciate any suggestions.

It seems to me you are refferring to the "System Idle" thread, that you will also find on Windows based PC. This is not actullay using your CPU. The problem is probably that you have a large SD card in your phone, and when you boot it is scanning for music, documents and pictures for the respective tabs. I remember when I had my kitchen stored on my SD card (500k files +) it would take forever to load manilla, now with a couple of GB of music/pictures it only takes a short time to get up and running. Hope that helps.
As a test, start your phone up without the SD card in and see if you notice a diference

100% correct! Thank you very much for that! I am using 16GB Micro SD and it's full of books, music and program backups. Is thate any way of preventing tha scan to interfere with the Manila..
As far as I know, No. Sorry, it has to do that to work Im still trying to find out how to get my music tab to load quicker :s
What about getting a quicker transfer Micro SD? I noticed that when I plug my phone into my car stereo via USB the playback is breaking.. Maybe my card is too slow..Anyways thanks for the reply! Owe u one!
Too true on the transfer speeds, am contemplating a 16GB class 6, but $90!

In that case the price is not an issue. The important thing is that it works Do u have any problems with yours?
currently only running an 8GB class 2 but seems to be okay, tidied it up the other day and have noticed a bit of an improvement

Hi anomandrus, did you remove the folder \Application Data from SD Card before or immediately after flashing new ROM? If that folder contains email attachments from a previous ROM then it will make Manila move at a snail pace, it also has the ability to create other strange anomalies like lockups and auto resets, just try to remove that folder and softreset then hopefully for you it should be ok again.

Nope.. Never thought of that! I,ve deleted it now and made softreset. Also compressed my icon collection in a *.zip folder. I notice there is an improvement. The Idle process takes shorter time to complete. My Micro SD card is class 2 (sloooow ) so I still have a bit of problems on start up but much better now. I think I'm gonna change it! Thank u very much guys! Your help is much appreciated!
I am running into the issue when I try to run an app there isn't enough memory. I don't have anything running in the back ground. I find that if I delete all my sms/mms it removes the problem for a while until it fills up again. I guess my question is what else can I clean out to gain more memory. I thought I was saving everything I could to the SD card. How do I isolate which programs are using the most memory? Thanks for any help you may be able to provide!
Sincerely,
Lou
Clear Temp & Install to Storage Card
Hello.. I was having the same problem as well. I bought this phone about a month ago and I love it. I started getting a memory error, and eventually the phone stopped receiving texts and notifications. Very frustrating.
I searched online and found a helpful page and then decided to reinstall apps to the storage card. It takes some digging but you can also find tweaks for storing email attachments, temp files, etc. to the storage card (haven't checked, surely the folks here at XDA have suggestions to make this easier). Finally I discovered this really cool little app called cleanRAM.
I've noticed an improvement. Mainly because it seems the HTC apps sure love to eat up local memory and make things run rather sluggish on the Imagio.
I started with the "Troubleshooting: HTC Imagio (Verizon) Sluggishness/Freezing" over at the HTC forums.
(I guess I'm too new to post a link. Sorry!)
And then thought really long and hard about installing software to the storage card. I figured because I never remove it, and its a 8GB card, probably not a bad idea to start doing it.
I had to really think about it because I prefer to save my storage card space for music and pictures.
Anyway, I would install anything system-related such as file finders, registry editors, .Net CF, today launchers, Gyrator, cleanRAM etc to the device. Everything else such as Google Maps, 3rd party browsers, games, GPS utilities, etc. is now installed to the storage card.
I just found this today and it seems to work pretty well. Try searching for "cleanRAM windows mobile" in Google.
Hey XDA folks.. surely you guys have placed more tips and tweaks elsewhere for this sort of thing, specific to the Imagio..??
The only thing you should install to the device itself are things like MODS, not APPS.
ESPESCIALLY NOT the CF Framework. It is hugh!!!
As a general rule... MODS to Device. APPS to Storage Card
Hey, so I'm slow..
I haven't checked back here in a while. So I'm a little slow!!
Yeah, you know I never really gave much thought to where to install software to, and got into the habit of always internal. Ever since experiencing the memory issue on the Imagio, I changed that habit pretty quickly.
What I find interesting is, if a techie like me had all these "problems" I can only imagine what non-techies must go through. I feel bad for them, because if they would read the manual, take time to research Imagio memory issues, and take the time to tweak their phones they wouldn't have so many problems!
Anyway, thanks much for the tip. Been wanting (yes.. wanting) to do a hard reset just to clean things up and to install mods and apps in the right spots.
My only concern is with Bing. When I do the hard reset, I probably won't even start it. I miss the old version. It's installed to the ROM, correct? So should I accidentally start it and it automatically upgrades, where should the upgrade go.. internal memory, or storage card?
