How do I disable screen wake up on new SMS?
Mine gets totally woken up when new SMS comes and if I let it sit inside my pocket for a while (when I can't check sms right away), a few programs are launched and sometimes I am calling someone.
I think the screen gets "touched" while inside the pocket and screen woken up by new sms (fine when sitting on the table with unchecked new sms).
Is there a way to disable this?
I want new SMS to come, vibrate or alert by sound BUT no screen wake up.
I did try searching but I think my search methods aren't that great.
Thanks.
Use xperia tweak
I read it somewhere that if I use xperia tweak and disable screen wake up at new sms, I will get those "new" messages when I wake up the phone.
Meaning, I won't get notified in any way untill I wake the phone up.
Can you please verify this?

Thanks for the link.
It works
For anyone who might have trouble with this issue, I'll add the info.
add in the below line into the registry location :
[HK_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL]
"DisableSMSWakeUpEvent"=dword:1
BTW, I installed Xperia Tweak but I get an error.
I have advanced config installed. would this be the problem?
Make sure you are using right version (depending on your FW):

Hello!
I did a Hard-Reset, since some things weren't working fine.
After having finished the installation, I recognized that there is
NO SOUND
NO POPUP
NO BLINKING OF LED
NO VIBRATION
when I receive a SMS.
I don't know, what I can do to "repair".
PLEASE HELP!!
have you tried
Start>Settings>Sounds & Notifications>Notifications>Event: Messaging: New Text Message
...of course I tried this.
Any other ideas?
Did you by any chance hide the ActiveSync (POP3) folder in your messaging application by editing your registry? I suppose the chances you did are quite small... Then again, it never hurts to ask.
First of all, are you getting other notifications? I.e. incoming call, etc?
What has worked for me when this has happened is to go to sounds/notification and select the sound to use when a new text message is received, then select the play button beside it to play a demo of the audio. For some reason, it seems like that helps my device to register the wake up action to take when a new call is received.
Hope this helps!
@Eggy
Yes, I removed the ActiveSync-account and the Hotmail-account in the registry.
Is there a connection between removing these accounts and hearing no sms-notifications?
@lulugirl896
For an incoming call it works fine.
I also played the sound in the options (like you wrote) but nothing changes.

Try returning the ActiveSync key the way it was. The Hotmail one shouldn't make a difference.

Could you write the structure of the registry-keys, since I don't know the old state... ?
When i receive an new email through activesync push (exchange 2007) i have enabled the option to display the message on screen and sound notification but the screen doesn't turn on automatically like when you receive a new SMS so basically its almoste impossible know when you receive a new email.
Can i change this somehow to act like when an SMS is received and turn on the screen ?
thank you
so basically there isn't a way for that ?
Yeah, also noticed that.
Would be nice to have a solution for that.
@Work i have my phone on table and sound/vibrate disabled.
So the only way to see a message is when screen turns on.
Ok, there's the LED, but in a bright room it can take hours till u notice that.
I googled this issue a lot, no luck.
I just get sound and vibrate, no screen message.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who find this odd
I was hoping it was fixed/added on WM6 but its not
Strange that no one has notice or even make a query about this in Microsoft, i find it completely stupid not to act the same way as an SMS/MMS since nowadays i use more the email than texting.
Lets hope for someone to do something about this if its possible
this is killing me!
any hard code developer can do something about this ?? it must be a way to trigger the same procedure that SMS uses in order to turn on the screen or something.
please please for this!

You'd think that Pocket MSN would also do the same wouldn't you? But it doesn't
this is by far the stupidest thing for the WM. I really can even begin to think why they did this, who is the genius behind this idea ?!?
Hell I think its a good idea. I'd hate my screen to come on everytime I got an email! I get a lot of email so that would majorly suck!
Yesbut why not just have it as a selectable option, that would make more sense!
exactly, at least put an option for it! email should be treated like SMS nowadays. yould you prefer creamhackered not to turn on the screen when you reseive an SMS ?
Hi guys,
I am facing very annoying problem. Every time I dial somebody's number and cancel the call by tapping on red button, after short while the phone redials the number again. I cancel it again and after a while phone redials the number again. This is repeating until a) I reset the phone or b) the person I am calling to answers the phone call.
I do remember I saw some settings related to redialing when playing with phone, but I went thru all config dialogs and cannot find anything. Maybe a change somewhere in registry could help?
Also I did not find anywhere how to disable the notification after you receive a new text message or got a missed phone call. Woman voice is keeping saying: "you got a new message" or "you got a missed call". This is anoying as well especially when you sleep and you receive a new msg and even your ring tone is set to something very polite to keep you sleeping, that woman's voice is trying to wake you up telling you - hey "you got a new msg", wake up!
My ROM ver is 1.14.401.3 WWE, I did some changes with Advanced Config and I am using tools like AEButton, SecondToday and some other tweaks, but I don't think this has something to do with the above described issues.
Thanks for your advices!
I have just found out that it is caused by REDIAL.EXE application which is stored in \Windows directory so I am not able to rename it or delete it. Is there any way how to get rid of this file? Thanks!
I have finally found out what caused the issue. It was application HTCExtFun and I forgot that there are such settings. I use it for switching different keyboard layouts when stylus is in or out.
So to disable automatic redial, I needed to edit [HKCU\Software\HTCExtFun] registry and sent RedialTime to zero.
Also in the same registry you can disable that sound notifications for incomming text message or missed call.

You can rename any WM aplication to "REDIAL.EXE" and then copy this renamed redial.exe to \windows, it will take the place of the rom redial.exe.

Thx for this thread. Now my HD doesn't redial anymore.
well, this might bea bit out of the subject but.. isn't there any registry fix that prolongs the default vibration time of the HTC Touch HD when the call is connected?
i feel it is very short and often passes unnoticed.
I understand that the "Redial" application does so but i'm very obssessive about battery life and background programs so i much prefer to have a registry fix if possible.
any help?
Hi,
The SMS program (the gray/black one included on a stock Rhodium) is really buggy for me - dates/times being mixed up.
Example;
I send an SMS at 12:00 to my friend.
My friend then responds at 12:01 - but it shows up as if he had responded a few minutes earlier then the time that I sent the first message, say, 11:57
It's really wierd, and I'm not sure whats causing this.
All I do know is that I can't have this, seing how I text message _alot_.
Any suggestions on how to fix this, or how to get rid of the Rhodium SMS interface, back to the functional WM SMS interface?
Thanks!
EDIT: If you don't understand the problem, I'll make a video to demonstrate better.
I have the same problem, i dont really care but its strange anyway...
Are you sure that bot your phone and your friends phone are at the exact time?
Some phone don't write the time at which you receive the SMS but the time when you friend's send the SMS based on the time of his phone and sometime it takes the time of the server that relay the SMS
yup I had my GF adjust her clock so they are in sync. then no more problems!
I may be wrong here but, I think it does this when you text through the tf3d sms. When you read the message on the touch flo screen tap the all messages tab on the bottom left and text back that way. Then see if it still happens.
I'm not a huge texting fanatic but this is how I do all my texting. Through tf3d it doesn't do auto capitalization and such. At least I haven't found a way to do it.
Yes, thats what happens.

I also prefered the 'old', standard WM SMSinterface rather than this new one, due to this bug - and the lack of auto capitalization.
What would one do to disable the new tf3d smsinterface, and just go straight to the WM one?
Tapping the "all messages" tab on the bottom left just gets annoying after some time, and I really don't prefer it.
Are we looking forward to a ROMupdate from HTC anytime soon, hms?

I synchronized my phones time with my girlfriends phone, and this still occurs - but only with the TF3D SMS program, not the WM one.
It's freaking me out.
I for example had a diferent problem. Someone sends me a message for example 13:56 and I only receive the message later, after I turn on the phone from standby. Calls sometimes give me unavailable. With my older mobile phone I didn't had any problem with that. I was thinking that the radio update will sort out the problem, but no good. Still the same problem. A big lag between send messages and received. Anyone know the cause. I had also the same problem in my Asus P535 but it fixed someway. Even with the phone connected, some times I need to make a call or activate the 3G GSM connection to receive the notification of the message.
How to enable "play sound/repeat" in Sound & Notifications audio settings?
If I missed a notification (email or reminder) I'd like to hear a beep or other sound at selected intervals.
Thanks,
Andy
SMS Notification repeat
Since we are noobs and not real, I thought I might share my searching results. First the search only returns results with "sms repeat", and not much with the Topaz. I had the same problem with my old Kaiser, and there was a great little program on Modaco (http://www.modaco.com/downloads-file2400.html) that I think was more about led notification but worked for my need to get repeat SMS notification. (I am a network engineer that is on call a lot)
I did a bunch of registry hacks on the Kaiser but nothing that worked very well and ended up using Phils program above, but not on my Topaz yet. It is still stock ATT rom.
I did find references to 3 other programs:
MissedCallReminder
PhoneAlarm
spb phone suite
The Phone Alarm (http://www.pocketmax.net/phoneAlarm.html) has a couple of varients, and looks like it might be easy to install, and has a small footprint piece called AlarmPal that has a feature of turning on and off bluetooth that might be helpful if battery life is an issue.
Phone Alarm supposedly works on 6.5. AlarmPal looks like just 6.1 and below, but there are posts about Diamond with a WM 6.5 ROM.(less than $12.00US)
Missed Call Reminder is from here (xda-developers) and looks like one of the moderators might be using it but the post is from Nov, 2008. He has updated it and the files in the cab are from April of 2009. It uses 236K of memory. Not sure if that is alot or little.
I do not have time today to try these out, but should have a little time later in the week.
I too would like this feature enabled. There has got to be reg tweak that will enable the "repeat" box to be checked under sounds & notifications. I will search around as well.
I found this in another forum so I will post it here too. It is over a year old post so I'm not sure if it works yet but I will try it out and post my findings if you all want to wait for confirmation if it works or not on WM6.5. Thanks to Jackalz for this find (http://forums.techarena.in/tips-tweaks/992968.htm).
In Registry Editor, navigate to the following registry key branch:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications
There is a lot of registry sub-key inside the Notifications folder. Search through one by one to find and locate a registry entry that has its Default (REG_SZ) value as the name of the event. For example, Messaging: New e-mail message, Messaging: New text message, Messaging: New MMS message, Phone: Missed call and etc.
Once found the correct registry sub-key that represents the event that you want to enable the “Repeat” option, edit the value data for Options value name. Change the value to 1073741835 (in Decimal base) or 4000000B (in Hexadecimal HEX base format). Save and exit from registry editor.
Now the Repeat check box is enabled, and user should be able to set repetitive and recurring event notifications.
EDIT: I have just verified that these registry settings worked. I was able to enable the repeat option for New emails, new text and new mms message. CHEERS!
Edited post: I did the above registry tweak and as in the kaiser, It would not stop repeating after reading the sms. I deselected the repeat option and set the registry key back to 0000000b. back happy again..
Old post:
I will try that one.. On the old Kaiser, it would repeat, but unable to turn it off. It kept repeating, no matter what I did to turn it off.. Thanks,
Jack
SMS repeat notification
AlarmPal worked... and even quit "reminding" me after I turned it off..
SMS repeat notification program testing results
Missed Call Reminder: looks like low footprint but repeated Voicemail notification even when I did not have voice or voicemail notification on. Only way to turn off the voicemail notification was to actually listen to the voicemail, just acknowledging it would not turn off the alert. Also after opening it up once, have to reboot the phone to get back into the configuration. Not a problem if I was able to turn off the voicemail alerts.
Alarm Pal worked as advertised but memory usage climbed from 72% to 82% in 14hrs. Will reinstall and continue monitoring.

ah, maybe that's why they disabled it in the first place. haven't experienced that issue with email's or text messages on mine.
Repeat Notification SMS
Have been using Alarm Pal for a few weeks, and it works quite well. I still have the memory usage pump up to above 80% pretty quickly (8-16hrs) but I am a real heavy user of both email, text, alarms and phone. Any others using something different with a smaller memory footprint?

I used MSentinel, you could try that! (after installing you should check the settings - mine checked the status every 1s and drained the battery very fast)

On my Typhoon I used an modified version of MortScript-based reminder - it does not stay in memory, uses wm-s notifications system and executes itself after given time (made also a full hour bell from it ). Its even possible to create a custom scheduled task with it - for example run pim backup every saturday night.. The original script came with a rom from xda-dev. - dont remember the name of it
