Good afternoon, dear gurus!
First, thank you very much for this resourse(xda-developers.com), I've already found a lot of useful information here, thanks for supporting it!
I've heard that Windows Mobile has a huge problem with phone networks. People say that WM can turn into "temporary unable to receive calls and sms", although all icons show that everything works fine. Some people changed their devices to non-WM ones because of this problem.
As long as it's well-known WM bug, I assume that it will be fixed in WM7 or if not - it will be absent in Android(I hope). Therefore I have a question, can it be theoretically possible to flash Xperia X1 with a WM7 or Android firmware?
Thank you very much for your answer in advance.

Understood, 50% of this question is clear. How about WM7? Any predictions?
depends on the drivers i guess.
if WM7 jsut runs on our phone theres a pretty good chance that we'll get it. if not, then we either have to hope that SE code drivers or some1 here.
id say it will work. both btw

You are wrong, that is not true. There is no bug like this in any version of WM available. If someone say that then it could be becouse of poor device, or carrier problems, or wrong usage, but this is not a Windows Mobile bug/problem. Everyone with long practice on WM on this forum will tell you that.

I better be wrong, because I've already ordered my Xperia X1 and was shocked when heard that thing... I hope that X1 with its memory amount and processor power will not show this issue.
Thanks for your answer.

Add faulty simcard to that list. You can get really weird problems with a bad sim.
It's the most common problem (heard this from both SE and my serviceprovider)
Hi, i want to try the new version of WinMo!!! but i don't find an specific rom for my Touch Dual . any of you have tried WinMo 6.5 on a HTC touch Dual with decent results?
Thanks!
Are they giving away nikis? I see a lot of newcomers and the kind that doesnt like the search button...
There is one test rom only, strangely on the upgrade section. You will have to find it, think of it as a quest.
You can't just answer the damn question? who do you think you are?
wow... 4 posts, 3 questions and 1 piss contest, congratulations, your a great addition to the forum already.
If you read correcly you'll see that I DID answer his question.
This thread is one month old, btw.

(In case there is no answer for the First Questions !!!!!!!!)
N.B: Please if possible to include the Download Links!!!!!
I'm with twolf on this.
Please read the threads in the Niki upgrade etc section. You are not the first to ask these questions, you will find your anwers if you search
I guarantee you will not only find th eansweres to your questions, but you will learn along the way. This will help you when customizing your Niki.
Hmm..
I hardly make any posts here but I'm rather suprised about the lack of "try before you cry" on this one.
To actually do something Ontopic then:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=404 over there you'll indeed find several 6.5 Roms for the Niki, you could also use the 6.5 kitchen that you'll find in that section. For a lightweight version just pick one of the many "Lite" versions of the roms you'll find in there.
However.. before you even try to upgrade anything, please do yourself a favour and read up a bit on SSPL/HardSPL/Radio upgrades and perhaps CID/ unlock if required
And if you Do try to upgrade your rom, make sure it's been given the old HardSPL, a suitable radio and.. After THAT.. a new rom.
Not doing so will have you stranded in, IF you're lucky, the wonderful land of mtty which is a deep dark and interesting pit that you'll learn to love once you've bricked your device for the first time
Your chances of ending up there are woven into the fabric of skillpoints you've collected on the "Read you must first, not Do!"-spell btw..
Good Luck!
It would be interesting to know if there is an alternetive to windows mobile...
Android is now coming to stores in mobiles, so it would be a good idea to try running android in our touch viva (opal)
does anyone know if it is possible to do this and how??
Take a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=462188
In short: It can run, but it's not usable as a complete WM replacement yet. Currently, there's no support for sound, vibration, leds, wifi or bluetooth concerning the Opal.
If you're interested in helping with development, please take a look at the thread I linked, you'll find most of the information there and I'll be more than glad to answer any question not already answered there.
Currently, it looks like I'm the only one working on the Opal side, and lately, I haven't had much time to dedicate for this project.
i see sprint came out with the Evo which is the same as the hd2 and i was curious if there is a way to install the android os on the WM HD2. i had a g1 before and changed for an hd2 but im not really digging the apps on windows mobile.
It's in the works as they're trying to find ways to get the kernel for linux to work with the hd2 processor. That is the issue right now. so no is the answer right now.
Next time search I have found like 8 "android for hd2?" threads
The Evo is completely different than the HD2.
Jesus Christ...another wanting to downloddsded Anderoid on me HD2, thread...
/me sighs and rolls eyes .... "Again?!?! are you serious????"
A humble suggestion to the admins:
Is it possible to setup vBulliten so that whenever someone puts in android and hd2 into the thread title when creating a new thread, it would show all the previous similar threads there itself.
I know it is possible to implement something similar without the specific keywords (i.e. it works for any title you use) on vBulliten.
I agree with you should have done a search first before opening a thread. Thread closed
First of all: I like this forum, it is really a good place to find and exchange informations. Congratulations to the team!
But the new layout/GUI of the forum sucks! At least, when you try to do it with your mobile device.
Usually I go with my HD2 in the forum. Normally through a Post, which I have received through the RSS Feed. If I'm interested in the thread, I subscribe to it.
But with the new layout it is not possible to click and open the thread tools. Just nothing happens.
And especially for a forum which is about mobile devices, this is an absolute NoGO!
Some technical details - I use
- HTC HD2
- StockROM 1.66.407.1
- Opera Mobile 10
- CHT 1.8
Would be really good, if anyone could find the bug.

Hi,
when i use my HD2 with Wifi, i can read the board. It needs some time to load, but it is possible.
But when i'm on the way and try to load it over GPRS or UMTS (if available), it loads only some little parts and then stops. So i can maybe read the first one or two postings of a thread.
With the "old" layout all was fine and easy. So i think, the new layout is not really mobile-campatible.
For the users it should be possible to change the layout between the currently and a mobile-friendly modus.
Greetings
Hardy

I actually contacted the Owners/Mods about this, the reply was, in a nutshell, "A mobile version is on the list, but a lot of stuff going on right now, so it is not a priority" ...
I am sure they will get to it at some point, but I did see somewhere a way to switch back to the old view ... hmmm will have to look for that again ...
EDIT: under http://forum.xda-developers.com/profile.php?do=editoptions , the very last option choose the custom skin ... it is the old version ...
Hmm. I can't recall having any issues with the new skin on opera 9.7.
Running also great here on Opera 9.7 .
I don't read it much on my HD2, mostly on the PC. One thing I hate though is the threads I've replied in don't show up as so when there's new post even though there's suppose to be a little down arrow in the thread icon. The icon does show if there are no new post though.
