Garmin XT 2GB Sim Card Lock Problem - Touch HD General

Hi Folks,
I bought Garmin XT for my touch HD (Dutty 1.7) and will receive it within the next couple of days.
I heared and read in this forum that it is designed to be used with the included 2 GB card !!! I have 8 GB card that carry all my songs and data and can't exchange it for a 2 GB card !!! I didn't know this fact before buying the software and now its too late to cancel the purchase !
Is there any way to copy the software from the 2 GB included memory card to my current 8 GB card.
Please help as its not practical at all to carry 2 Memory cards all the time and keep switching them !!!
Thanx

I am using garmin tx V5 the latest with Maps loaded on my 8GB card without any problem i wonder why you are thinking that it wont work. I dont know if it worked because the garmin i have is cracked not purchased but i think it will work with your 8GB card. Dont worry about it.

Thank you very much for your reply, I read in this forum and others that you cant copy the software to your memory card and you have to use the 2 GB supplied card that comes with the package !!! I got some tricky steps on how to copy the software to my 8GB card using a key Generator as the software comes locked to the included 2 GB memory card ID !!(There is ID for each memory card). I will try it once I receive the software.
I would like to ask you if the Panoromio viw is working on your HD as I heared that it gives some error.
Thanx

I dont know know what you mean by Panoromio viw i think panoramia view ? Anyway I dont use it that much but for my Lebanon map, it rocks, it is really very clear and precise.
If you need any help PM me as it is not allowed to help cracking/working with warez.

Thank you very much, I am still waiting for the Garmin package to arrive, offcourse will mail you if I need any help.
Thank you very much

I am having the same issue witx garmin xt, you can't copy the software to a bigger card. Can somebody pm me some help please??

Panoramio works however right now if the phone is showing garmin in portrait view it will give you an error when you click on Panoramio its a bug in garmin.
I installed HDtweak and in the settings on phone choose button and change the option to portrait, then all you have to do is long press the call button to change to landscape and Panoranio will work
I got the Garmin XT on cd so good luck with copying to another card

TomTom 5 does not work with large maps?!?!?

Hi,
I have successfully installed TomTom 5 using BeyondTheTech's instructions, and everything works beautifully on the Great Britain map, which is about 100MB.
Yesterday I tried to switch to other maps, particularly the France map (which is about 200MB) and the Italy Plus map (which is also about 200MB too), and no way, it won't do that. What it does it freezes TomTom.
When this happens I can get to the Memory applet in Control Panel and stop TomTom, but then to restart it I need to patch the CurrentMap file in MyDocuments so that TomTom will ask which map I want to use, and only if I select Great Britain it will work fine. With the other two it just freezes as soon as I click it.
Before anybody asks, my license code is for the whole of Europe!!!!
Also, all three maps worked perfectly on my Treo 650, the device I had before the KJAM.
Anyone else has this problem?
Thanks.
I have the KJAM with TTN5 installed and i use currently the France-map without problem, also the italy-map-plus is working well. I have the navigator installed on miniSD like the maps. It's not very quick to open up, but don't freeze like you tell.
I see it freezing with italian map on my PDA2K with WM5 until i moved the navigator program from main memory to SD card. KJAM is not a PDA2k but you can try to uninstall the navigator from main memory and install it on miniSD (or move it and change the registry according to the new place).
Thanks for your reply.
My installation is indeed on the miniSD card already, not on main memory. So, I am very puzzled.
I will try and re-make the maps via the TomTom CD's and copy again to the card, and see if it makes a difference.
Can you confirm that you are able to switch maps residing on the card without problems?
Grazie (sono italiano anch'io).
Yes, i don't have problems to use the maps and i can change between them. I'm currently in France and i use a lot the france-map, but also changing back to the italian plus map is not a problem.
You put the map folder in the root of miniSD, right? And you tried to kill all the applications in background before starting TTN5? Stupid questions i know
Ciao
I have to GB maps installed and TT5 freezes near the end of any journey
and its loaded onto the mini SD card. Map includes camera data and I also have all voices loaded, rather no lose camera data but i am not sure if TT5 uses ov2, bmp or both files. Also should I trim the voice file to the one i use
Well.. till now i never see it freezing on kjam, but on my PDA2K with WM5 yes. It was freezing when i have it on main memory (then moved to SD) and when the bluetooth is off (or when pocketzenphone change profile to BT off at schedule time and i'm using TTN).
I use TTN5 with Checkpoint for POI and i have some slow down (but not freezing) when i enable a lot of POI, but if i keep only camera radar is fast enough. Ahh... and i use only one voice file, but i don't think that having many voice files it's a problem.
I was using TomTom on my previously owned Treo 650, and thought that the maps on the memory card could be reused.
I have now rebuilt all the maps from scratch using the original TomTom CD's, and now everything works great. I can switch maps with no problems.
I am also using the speed camera database from PocketGPS, and no problem at all with those either. No freezes, everything works perfectly, including Traffic.
Thanks again for the help.

Thanks for sharing this, exactly what I was looking for!
Thanks for sharing!
Is this the only link to this cab file?
I have been looking for hours for this file.
Thank you
Great!!! finally something that works from a sd card without tinkering with. By the way - it works to some degree on qtek 8500 with wm6 as well. I tried it with opera - no problem at all and great.
Bombus - the jabber client - problem!!! doesn't use all keys - direction and input. Other miscallenneous programs - input problem. To be expected though, it was made for different software.
Not a major problem though. The JRebeiro_EsmertecJbed3d works from sd card as well - install and just move the big exe somewhere and it will run ok. The files will be stored in the main memory though. To be exact in the appdb dir in windows folder.
I decided to keep the new version - for instance in bombus the text is actually written you just can't see it. if you switch the t9 on and carefully write your login, pass and server, you can even use it. However, it is only just usable, I don't really use it often, in favour of Agile, so I can live with it.
Never mind, I don't know what was worse my laziness or the stupidity of my question. Sorry for taking up threadspace
I don't have a SD card, how can I install it into main memory? Thanks.
Edit: found it, \Esmertec Java
Thanks! Great jobs!
also great for smartphone
great! I use it on SP3 (WM6) and O2 XDA Atom (WM6). but when we can have jbed with bluetooth?
problem with Opera 4.1 trusted release and this update
Is anyone having problems with this and Opera 4.1 trusted midlet? I am experiencing the following:
Everytime I try to use autocomplete and type an address, when I press a letter it repeatedly makes the same letter. Also using the fast scrolling feature with numbers 2, 4, 6, 8 does the same thing except for without the letters. It just keeps scrolling by itself! Any one else experiencing this and is there a way to fix this?
thank you!
is there bluetooth support? I mean to use it with bloover et other bluetooth software (like chat2u).
thanks again,

Actually nothing else than clicking the link in the first post.
It's ok, it could download after first post.
I gave Java build 20080521.4.1 on my new sprint ROM for my Mogul.
Anyone know where I can get this as a .cab so I can install it into customs ROM's that I flash?
Installed this on an Axim X51v - doesn't run at all, from main memory or SD card. It just doesn't open at all. Any ideas?

Co-Pilot Live 7?

Hi I see on the ALK website that the touch is still not compatible - clearly moving to WVGA has not been as simple as first anticipated.
Has anyone heard of a possible date when this will be available?
ALK are always slow at getting things out. I'm still waiting for the desktop software to suppliment the Diamond edition which they confirmed in an email way back in August.....
Send them an email, and update us all
Copilot Live
I have this working on Touch HD-the screen is slightly "streched" but no issues ...works fine....They are working on a update to have this work without the stretched screen. im ok with it as is..

Do you find it's a good solution for navigating (no lag, easy to see/hear) and do you have traffic (is it useful?) - thanks...
I did ask ALK directly about compatibility and also whether the micro SD card supplied was copy protected in some way to stop me copying from the 2G card to my current 16G card.
Their answers were:
1. Not compatible yet, monitor for updates this link: http://www.alk.eu.com/copilot/compatibility.asp
2. Yes, there is no problem to copy the files to another micro SD card

Does TomTom 7 work on HTC TD2?

It seems that some of you run TTN7 on your HTC TD2s. However, I checked with TomTom support today about installing to my 8GB microSD and they said it is only compatible with 4GB SD cards.
I asked them:
"Is there any version of TomTom I can install on an 8GB microSD card on my WM6 phone so that I do not need to swap cards?"
They replied:
"Sorry no, and another thing is your HTC Touch Diamond 2 is not compatible with nav 7, so it is hard for us to help with any installation issues that might occur."
My experience of TomTom support many years ago (TTN4 on a Palm) was that they were uninformed and not very helpful. So have they misinformed me? If so, how do I go about getting TTN7 onto my phone? I find TomTom more user-friendly than the CoPilot I have.
Hello,
I'm using TT7 without any problems. It's saved in a 4 gb msd card.

Same here
I'm using TT7 without any problems and i have it installed on a 8gb Card..
When Tomtom say their software is 'not compatible' with a device, what they actually mean is that the device is not officially supported by them.
Whether the software actually works on the device is a different question. Supported or not, Tomtom works just fine on the TD2 - well, it does once you install the clipped audio fix...
Thanks guys. So I can purchase TTN7 for Windows smartphone on microSD and simply copy onto my 8GB microSD and install from there?
I suggest you to buy the map(s) only. TomTom7 app is available here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=482075 ...free,absolutely legal. As far as I can remember not all TT7 versions work on Topaz, but this one does..I've been using it since the beginning.Anyway before you waste your money take some time reading about TD2 and TT7,there are many interesting threads. Ciao!

Thanks. The threads are interesting. However, Western Europe maps cost £70 but the whole TTN7 package with these maps costs just £20 more at £90 - and I get a free microSD card. Then there is the legendary (or mythical?) TomTom support.

With the latest version you don't need audiofix anymore and it works without any problem on my 8GB microSD card.

sorry i can't help you with that, i can only report that v8.25 do work (1GB Western Europe)

I tried TomTom Home to determine what maps I needed to download, but this did not work because the TTN7 that I installed is invalid (according to TomTom). So now I have an invalid installation that works with the one free city map that I could download. Looks like I will have to remove it and start afresh with an official TomTom installation.

I use TT navigator 7 on my Diamond 2 and a 8GB SDHC card !! Works perfectly !!
I am still having trouble here! Having installed 7.916.9189.1 (which works fine), installed a free map, voices and POIs from TomTom, I bought the Western Europe maps from TomTom. They show up on my account, but I cannot download them because it says "This item does not work on your device. Therefore, it cannot be installed." It further says, "You have an invalid version of the TomTom application installed on your TomTom device."
What do I do now?
I have TT7 7.916.9189 and works perfectly. The only problem is the icons look very little. The map I have instaled is Iberia 835.2421.

My TT7 7.916.9189 also works perfectly, but I cannot download the maps that I paid for!
I have TT7 working and use TTHome to download the maps and also keep MapShare up to date.
I originally had the same problems but found this post and followed it carefully to now have a fully recognised install of TT7 and v.830.2306 Maps of Western and Central Europe 2Gb.

You basically stop TTHome from discovering your device is unsupported and it then happily works as it should.
All credit to adejager1 for discovering and posting originally.
Hope it helps.

TomTom on this phone?

How do I install TomTom on this phone? I have tried to install from a cab file that I used successfully on a Touch Pro but the installation fails on the Touch2 reporting the application as incompatible.
Can you please point to a TomTom cab file that works with WM6.5?
Even better if it is a version where I can activate a free local map as in fact that's all is need on this phone....
Thanks.
There are certain sources that provide QVGA cabs, google is your friend.
The QVGA version easily found googling has problems with WM6.5: it screws the Bluetooth stack.
Ah that explains why my bluetooth isnt working anymore, well Navigation is more useful then bluetooth for me.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4898541&postcount=8
Do this and both bluetooth and tomtom will work.
i didn't have a problem with tomtom 7 installing on the htc touch 2 aka mega.
I even got it working with my external gps. so bluetooth doesn't stop working with my cellphone. I will try tomtom 7 + bluetooth external GPS + Bluetooth earphone this evening to test if even that will work
After installing TT7 just delete these 2 files BtSdkCE30.dll & BtCoreIf.dll from Windows directory. Bluetooth stack will work again
Touch2 Tomtom screenshot
Can any post a screenshot of Tomtom on the Touch2 please.
I'm thinking of buying this phone but i'm afraid the screen will be too small for tomtom.
Would be much appreciated.
From the small test i did, it works fine although it seems to suffer a small lag, it remembered my previous diamond, ...
Here a screenshot i've take inside my home, for me the visual it's good ( not awesome but still good )
Good enough to use. Bought this phone. Loving it more the more i use it.
Thanks for the trouble making the screen. xx
tomtom works fine on my HTC with MEGA:
tomtom navigator 7910
Wester Europe
Please, how to delete those 2 files

You can make the visual map screen bigger by selecting less elements in the statusbar....I use only remaining distance, arrival time and speed.....
Also the colorscheme you use makes quite a difference in visibility...can recommend you "default contrast" for the day and Vapno for the night. Via TomTom website many many schemes available.

Trouble installing Navigator 7
I have a Touch 2 with Windows 6.5 and recently bought Tomtom Navigator 7 on a memory card from Handtec. I had trouble getting it to install so here are my notes & instructions which I hope will help others in future.
The Tomtom web site says that the Touch 2 is compatible with Navigator 7 but when I tried to install the software it said my device was incompatible with the version of software. Strangely, given that Navigator 7 is supposed to be new, the newest “modified” date of any of the software on the memory card is June 2009, more than a year ago.
I logged a question with Tomtom support after logging into my account on their web site. After asking me to send them a copy of my invoice for purchasing Navigator 7 they said there was a software update ttn7.zip which I could download from the web site. The support response was very prompt – less than half an hour – but their installation instructions were poor and it took several rounds of questioning to figure out what actually had to be done.
I had copied the contents of the Tomtom memory card on to my own card. The correct instructions for the update are as follows:
- with ttn7.zip downloaded from Tomtom and on the PC, click on it in Windows Explorer to display the contents.
- This is a folder called ttn7. Click on it again in Windows Explorer to display the contents.
- You will see two items – start.exe and a folder called “2577”
- Delete the existing folder “2577” on the memory card (which had been copied from the Tomtom memory card earlier
- copy the new “2577” folder from the Tomtom download on to the memory card so it takes the place of the old “2577”
- there is no need to copy start, exe as a version with the same date is on the memory card
- With the Touch 2 off, load the memory card
- Power the Touch 2 on.
- During the power up process the Tomtom software will auto-install
- Worryingly my Touch 2 gave the same old warning message that the device is incompatible with the version of the Navigator but the installation process ignored this and carried on.
- Tomtom will prompt for the usual installation questions including the activation code that came on a sheet of paper with the memory card
- From now on it’s a case of answering the questions and configuring the various options to taste. Navigator 7 seems to work fine although I haven’t taken it out in the car yet.
